Ladies please get this thread going! Iui or ivf it doesn't matter... What matter most is the support that we get here...
I so understand what you ladies mean by the challenge in producing the troop... My supposedly first iui was postponed because of that... Dh forgot about the 1st freezing and release troops the day before... And for the second freezing, he couldn't get a cab in time due to morning rush... Haiz...

Dian Tang: Hugz.. Dun think so much.. Just think about how you are going to have your own baby very soon. So whatever you have to do to achieve the aim doesnt matter. Is still your own baby...
I think both IUI or IVF will still need troops right? okie...something to share..not sure whether it is helpful...during the first IUI, DH abstain for abt 3 days...but for 2 second trial, we BD on Thurs night and IUI on sat morning..so maybe only abstain for 2 days? somehow, the troops results for the second trial arent as good as the first trial... so we suspect abstaining for 3 nights seem to be better..
also, some slight difference...we did the IUI under Dr Loh. but the nurse says to bring the troops in within an hr.. so not sure if it makes any diff...maybe e fresher it is, the better bah..
just for my own understadning, what's e diff between long and short protocol for ivf?

Ladies, i just talked to my boss that im gg for ivf n she told me recently ther a lady hving some kind of fertility medication n she got pregnant w 4 babies. Is a local new. Any1 know of d news?
Dream, short protocol will skip suppression n go straight to stimulation and it takes only about 4 wks for d entire process. Long protocol will b about 6 wks. Correct me if im wrong.

Hi Ladies, sorry that I have been MIA all day. As soon as I got back to the office, I was swarmed with work.
Here is my Raffles TCM experience today that I would like to share with you:
I had a 8.30am appointment with Dr Zou (which was very early!). I told her that I am starting IVF next week. As it was my first time seeing her, she asked me a lot of questions to get to know my condition. Questions such as how long my cycle is, how many days is my AF, do I get cramps and backache during AF, do I bloat, am I regular, do I sleep well, how is DH's health and troops, what fertility test have I done, what did my western doctor say, etc. After that she checked my eyes/iris, my tongue and read my pulse on both hands. She commented that my overall health and body is fine. The only thing is that my liver seems to be lacking good blood circulation. She also said that she will straight away do acupuncture for me.
When she started the acupuncture session, I joked that luckily I'm not afraid of needles. She replied, "oh good, in that case, I will put more needles and use some medium ones!" Oh gosh, I never knew that acupuncture needles come in different sizes! All in all, I think I ended up with at least 20 needles in me. One at the top of my head, 10 on my tummy and chest, 2 on each hand, and maybe 7-8 on each leg and foot. It was my first time having a needle at the top of my head, so that was certainly a new experience for me. Overall, I didn't feel any pain. She worked very fast and the only time I feel anything was a little numbness which she tells me is normal. After she is done, she told me to rest or sleep for 30mins and placed a heat lamp directed at my tummy. In summary, it was good experience. The only down side for me is that my Chinese is not that good and her English is not fluent. I told her that my Mandarin is no good and she was patience with my questions everytime she uses a Chinese word that is too advance for my level. ha ha! She also prescribed some medicine for 5 days that will nourish my liver. So since it is only for 5 days, I will just take it.
I paid:
$40 for consultation
$11 for medicine
$389 for IVF booster package which consists of 5 acupuncture sessions.
Including gst, I paid $470 in the end.
dian_tang, all the best in your session with her tomorrow. Hope that you are feeling better now. Don't feel blue about IVF. Think of it as your best chance to have your beautiful bundle of joy on your arms. Hugs!

Hi we consulted Dr Zhao today . I shared my experience here , actually sound alike of what Lil Ponyo describe . She started with many questions like cramps , how long is the menses,how well the sleep, she also take the pluses for my 2 left and right wrists. She also read the lab report do by hosp . She encouraged us to stay relax and positive and happy and our body would be better for IVF . She asked me to wear socks or slippers at home to keep my feet warm. She asked me to avoid cold drinks and fruits like watermelon which is 涼.
After which she checked on my DH too .next we proceed on the acupuncture. Like what Lil Ponyo said, I was poked with 20 needles and I slept for 30 mins . My DH also did . But Dr said it maybe late for him to do cos he shd do 3 months ago.

Btw, is it normal to be bloated while under progesterone tablets??? Hubby juz remarked that I'm growing fatter and bloated???

Sorry, i didn't really understand.. Do you mean your hubby's sperm was not sent to the lab to be 'washed' before the iui procedure was done?
Mine was done by Prof P C Wong at NUH..

Hi Ladies, how is your Monday so far?
I think my IVF journey started earlier than expected.
I got my AF yesterday, it is 3 days early so today being my Day 2, I called up the doctor first thing in the morning and went for my blood test. The tests are for MEP and AMH. I don't know what they are for so will need to google that later tonight. Does anyone know what they are for?
Then the nurse told me that doctor will only see me on Day 21 to start my injections and suppression. I am surprise that it is so long away because all along I thought my injections will start immediately. So it turns out that I still have 3 weeks of normal life to go. Ha ha! Nurse said I can even keep trying in the next 3 weeks. Wow, fingers crossed!

Ya, last cycle is only 25 days! I have never had a cycle that short. Maybe it's because I was on clomid for my 2 cycles before that and those cycles were 30-31 days. Usually, my cycle is 28 days. Or maybe it's acupuncture that I did. Another strange thing is that I did not bloat or have water retention before my AF.
Laki gal, thank you but I try not to think about it. But since I suddenly have this 3 weeks 'free', I'm going to plan a short trip during the National Day long week to relax. I have not had a holiday with my DH alone in almost 2 years! It has always been with friends and/or family.

Serene, if you are thinking of going to private hospital, I'm with Dr L C Foong at Gleneagles. Did all my 3 IUI under him and now doing IVF. Another sister here got a BFP with him earlier this month on her 2nd IUI. He is a very kind and patient doctor. Not much waiting time.

Lil : you are on long protocol so start inject on day 21. For me , I may start on day 2 as I am on short protocol . Oic .. My second acupuncture is next sat . She also ask me to go before period as she said that it can improve the lining .Btw what medicine she gave u? Mine was 消摇善， I googled a bit and it was for me to stay relax. She read my pulses and said my heart beat too fast . Ha ha

Yup i meant the home pregnancy test.. I guess every doctor has different set of protocol.. For mine, doctor told me to do a home pregnancy test if my menses still not here after 3 weeks.. So i waited till around day 20 past iui to test.. When i tested positive, i made an appt to see doc immediately.. Even when i went to the hospital, they only did urine test to confirm.. Think no need blood test cos my hcg was already high enough to confirm the pregnancy..
I'll be starting on ivf very soon.. Thanks for your good wishes!

Hi Duffybear, depending on your cycle, you can try HPT if your period is still no here after 14 days from IUI. Either that or you can 'tahan' and wait for your blood test at KK. That would be the most accurate of course. Baby dusts!!!

Hi ladies,
Thank you all so much for your well wishes.. So sorry but i don't have very good news to share.. Went to hospital very early.this morning.. Since my doctor would only be in at 8.30, the nurses did the necessary blood test for me first.. When the doc came, he did the scan and saw 2 cysts, 1 each on left and right ovary.. They were not there during the scan about 2 mths ago.. So doc says not to proceed with ivf today.. Said to wait for next cycle go in day 2 again to scan and check if the cysts are still there.. If they have been passed out naturally, then can straightaway start on injections.. If still there, i have to go thru a laparoscopy to remove, rest 3 mths then do ivf..
I'm a little disappointed but feeling ok.. Had asked the doc if there's anything i should take note of during this period, he said no, the cysts are not affected by my diet.. He said to go ahead and do watever i like and enjoy eating what i like.. Relax and just wait for next scan.. My hubbytold me to just take things easy and that maybe it's just my body's way of telling me 1 mth rest from wk is not enough and i need to rest a little more..
