how to make spinach puree

Spinach is filled with anti-oxidants and is very good for babies between 8 to 10 months. However be careful as some paedriticians recommend feeding babies commercially produced spinach puree rather than fresh due to high level of nitrates. Hence please do consult your doctor. Here is a step by step procedure to make spinach puree:
  • Step 1: always purchase fresh organic spinach as spinach is one of the foods with highest pesticide residue. Also check for dark green and blemish free leaves.

  • Step 2: next step is to remove the stem and sock in cold water for two minutes ,then rinse it through running water.

  • Step 3: steam the spinach till its tender( like for 5 minutes). Then drain, and rinse the spinach with cool water for three minutes to stop the cooking process

  • Step 4: blend the spinach in a processor until smooth, you can add water to make it to the desired consistency.

  • Step 5: spinach can also be mixed with veggies and grins like carrots,sweet potato.

  • Step 6: leftover spinach puree can be refrigerated for 3 days and has to be kept in BPA free container. If its frozen it can be kept for 3 months. Before consuming it can be thawed in refrigerator
