First time to Japan

This is my first family trip to Tokyo with 2 kids, both 7 and 8 yrs old. Besides Disneyland and Disneysea, Can anyone recommend some fun and interesting places that adults and kids will enjoy? What are the things that "must buy","must eat" and "must go"? Thank you!

RAMEN very nice there, I find it much nicer than in Singapore...Go to department stores like Daimaru and MUST go to the Basement level with all the yummy Japanese crackers, pies, cakes and snacks etc packaged so beautifully and very yummy ! Go to the Hello Kitty Puroland at TAMA town (can take train) if you have girls. Must eat the crepes , YUMMY ! I always stay at a hotel 1 stop away (subway) from Disneyland (u can take subway to Disney or the hotel provides free Disney bus ride there and back at regular intervals) and there is a crepe shop (something like a pushcart) near the departmental stores (within walking distance from this hotel) and the crepe is YUMMY ! u can even ask the guy there to make it plain i.e. no cream no ice cream and the plain crepe freshly made is super yummy :) There is also a pork cutlet store in one of the shopping mall there that has melt in the mouth cutlet. FOOD IN JAPAN is simply UNFORGETTABLE so must eat alot :) let me know if you need the hotel details (I stayed there 3 times) hope this will help :)

Dear all , year end vacation coming and many are making plans now :)

I have a few enquiries regarding hotel stay for Tokyo Disneyland and I would like to share my favorite hotel / s :)

the hotel name is Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay

this is the hotel website http://www.oriental-hotel.co.jp/en/index.html

it is a good tokyo disneyland neighbour hotel recommended by disneyland http://www.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/about/oh/partner.html

and if you have more $$ to spend, my daughter loved & had an unforgettable stay once at the Disney Ambassador Hotel, http://www.disneyhotels.jp/english/dah/index.html

I had been to tokyo disneyland for at least 4 times and mostly stayed at the Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay except for 1 time at the Disney Ambassador hotel which is really pricey. Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay is more affordable, good and clean and have more food and shopping whereas places near Ambassador hotel pricey because it is within the Disney area...

the Oriental Hotel has different room types and I think they have family room, u can click into their website to check as it ihas an english version...

for the Oriental Hotel, u can take an airport bus from airport to the hotel and drop at the front, ride is around 50 mins to an hour...this is the most convenient way since u have luggages and young kids.

for day trips, you can take a subway from this hotel to the city area because hotel has a short bridge outside that leads directly to the subway entrance so v convenient...for disneyland, this hotel has a free shuttle to disneyland. if u have girls, can take them to hello kitty land (puroland) at tama center but u have to take subway at hotel to the shinjuku train station to take a different train line (keio line) to tama center. anyway, u can check out the hello kitty land website which will give u directions (under Access tab) http://www.puroland.co.jp/english/welcome.html

At shinjuku station, u must go to the keio dept store which is I feel better than our takashimaya and must go to the basement level where all the food and snacks are at ! there are so much japanese crackers, chocolates, cake etc etc there , fantastic !

Hope you have great fun in Tokyo :)
