Endometriosis and Pre-Conception

Hi All, thought I should share my situation with you.
Just got my menses today and am loosing hope as I was hoping for a Christmas miracle.
I am 33 years old. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 endometriosis (uterus is retroverted due to endometriosis causing a 'glue-ing' effect on the rectal wall) and a 1.5cm cyst on my left ovary, my right shows its in a normal condition.
My husband and I have been trying to a baby naturally for about 11 months now with no luck of a baby.
We went to see 3 specialists - 1/3 said to go for a laparoscopy, 2/3 said no surgery is required.
Are any of you in a similar situation? Thoughts about TCM or surgery first? or straight to IVF to avoid waisting more time. Any doctors you can recommend seeing?

I think it u can wait, go for laparoscopy and try. If u can't wait then go for ivf. But either way u have to find a tcm physician to help boost fertility chances with these procedures, pref with a biomedical background TCM physician . Hope I helped!

I would say go for laparoscopy - I got diagnosed with Endo, stage 4 with very very bad adhesions as well and the surgeons helped removed all of these. I heard that women will be more fertile after the laparoscopy surgery as well. Best of luck!!

I have endometriosis and did laparoscopy too, I would suggest you to go for it, because it will only thicken and affect fertility in future. I was pregnant after 6 months of doing laparoscopy, but sadly it ended as a miscarriage. But hey. At least it’s something. I am still continuing to try for a baby now too.

I was diagnosed with endo (with 3 cysts) in Dec 2018, and I've not decided to go for laparoscopy till date. Went to private obgyn, and was given 2 cycles of Clomid. I'm still trying to convince naturally without having to do keyhole.
Any thoughts if I should consider doing laparoscopy since I've been ttc for the past 2 years?

Yes i believe you should consider, it's really minimally invasive under a good Dr, and will help with your ttc within 6 months

Maybe you consider TCM fertility massage ? I heard that if your endometriosis lining is less than 1cm, usually TCM can help to disperse it. If more than 1cm will need keyhole surgery

Yep you can try massage, or I would recommend you seeking TCM herbal and acupuncture treatment. I went to my TCM physician after years of trying before becoming pregnant. It definitely helped!!

I see, I'll try to find out more about TCM fertility massage as well. And yes, all the 3 cysts are less than 5cm each but the recent private obgyn I've been to advise me to consider keyhole as a last option instead. Hence, it makes me wonder when is the right time for this surgery.

May I know how much u did laparoscopy and from which doc? I was thinking to go for laparoscopy to check whether I have endometriosis. Every month I have bad cramp on my 1st day of menses.

I did with Dr Wendy from mount Elizabeth Novena, I need to stay in hospital for 3 days. Can claim from insurance. I forgot how much already I think $10-15k?

Hi All, just wanted to give you all an update I've gone for a laporoscopy, the surgeon removed endometriosis, polyps and endometrioma on my left ovary. Recovery is well. Wish me luck for conception!

Hello! May I know if you had taken Visanne or Lucrin right after the op? Or did your doctor had recommended any other medication for this post surgery?

Hi

anyone know if laparoscopy is the only way to diagnose endometriosis? Can it be done via mri scan? Mine is a suspected case only and I was thinking not to go through the keyhole surgery unless necessary. Any suggestions?

If time is an issue, I'd recommend that you go straight to an IVF specialist. You can just show the doc your recent imaging test results and give him/her the findings and recommendations of your previous doc. That way, the IVF specialist can also determine whether you are suitable for the procedure, or if your endo will need to be removed first before starting an IVF cycle. If you're looking for a good specialist, off the top of my head I would say Ann Tan from Mount E (if you're okay with the private route). Hope this helps!
