In my opinion he is a very experience doctor but you must be able to take his sense of humor. He delivered my baby boy successfully and it was a pleasant experience.

Think he alternates bt Bishan & Mt E Novena now.

I like dat he is patient and has a sense of humor. If u have any qns or things dat u r not sure of... he will ans them.

I gave birth of d 1 day of CNY... n when we called d emergency no. just past midnight, he told us we could make our way 2 d hospital. So I asked if it's okie if i shower b4 making my way... he said yes.... I was in labor till about 7.45am. n when he held up my gal... he said "welcome Mt. A 1st baby of d lunar new year" Cos of my blur look, he asked me y i looked so surprised, n i said 2 him.... it's almost 9am liao... u mean bt midnight till now no births? He said "not counted cos not by me"... we were all laughing but d nurse clarified dat d rest were c-sect.

In d end, i found quite a number of my close friends who r also his patients.... some of whom we only found out when we went 4 our antenatal check ups.

Dear Tigerpoh,

Years of trying I'm not sure who is good gynae. But after seeing his review, he can help me conceive.. So you think I should go to him?

Hi Kasham,

Sharing my experience and opinion for your reference, but it's just my personal thoughts...

Dr Henry is a very nice doctor. He is patient, speaks slowly, is gentle during scans, humorous and reassuring. My friend goes to him and another friend's mum is also goes to him as a regular gynae. Based on the recommendations I went to seek his consultation to conceive. Before seeing him, I've tried naturally for almost 2 years without success counting days and testing for ovulation and I was below 35 years old then. Dr Henry prescribed serophene to boost my ovulation (produce more eggs) followed by ovidrel injection to release the eggs and I was told to go back and try naturally within that window. He also sent my husband for sperm count test. All he did was scan my ovaries to show me that I have alot of follicles. We repeated this process 6 times over 6 months (once each month after each failure). Each time he was very nice and reassuring and told us just relax don't worry. But every time we failed, there is no answer as to why and what else can we do. Most importantly, I was concerned without knowing the "why".

Eventually, my husband got to know another doctor and we switched doctor. But things did not work out as well because that doctor is also a gynae more than a fertility specialist. After hearing from our friends and reading on forums, we decided to go to KKIVF. The experience at KKIVF opened my eyes. They are very systematic in the process. We saw a doctor who asked us a series of questions about our medical history etc. A series of blood tests and scans were ordered for us. The tests are meant to find out if there is a problem and what is the problem. Then they can determine what is the best course of action. I did not experience any of that at Dr Henry's. No tests, no finding out what was wrong even when I was having yeast infection issues (like monthly recurring yeast infection which I didn't feel it's normal) - but Dr Henry told me it's ok and only gave me inserts which cured it for a while and returned the next month. In the end I went to KKIVF and found that it was not normal yeast infection but a bacterial infection which then I got treated for. Also, I had blocked a fallopian tube which of course Dr Henry didn't know this because he didn't send me for a thorough check. With blocked tube, the chances of conceiving naturally is reduced though it's not impossible. I am now pregnant after going through IVF.

At the end of the day, if you are looking to conceive then I suggest that you look for a fertility specialist instead of a gynae. Dr Henry may be a good option if you are already pregnant. Not all gynaes are fertility specialists. If you have been trying for years without success, then it might be good to find out what is wrong. Sometimes, there is really nothing wrong and it is a 'unexplained' infertility. However, if there is a problem that needs to be fixed liked my case, then continuing to try may not reap any results, but just wasting time and money plus it can be emotionally and mentally draining.

Don't get me wrong, you may possibly succeed by seeing Dr Henry with his methods, but I think that takes a lot of luck. After my experience and time wasted going round in circles, I prefer the systematic and scientific approach instead of "hoping for the best"...

Hope this helps.
