Oceans,
No use blaming yourself now. Just see how the ballot will be on Fri. Good luck!
happy.gif
But do have a backup plan.

For us, we already know where to reg if we fail in this Fri's ballot.

As for the 1km thingy, nowadays HDB flats are so clustered and close... so I'm not surprised that alot of flats are eligible with the 1km radius.

Janet,
Yap, but when i noe, is too late liao.... In actual fact, when i asked abt PV last year Aug, my gal was 4yrs old.
happy.gif
However, registration already closed.
sad.gif

Soyabean,
Good luck to you too.
happy.gif
With flats so clustered, the best solution is actully to increase the number of intake for neighbourhood school.... 2 chances is no diff if all are S'porean...

Recently, my luck was really no good.... haiz...

hi ocean,

tink no use for appeal. =( can onli wish all those require ballotin gd luck. waitin for fri result. else, wil hav no other choice bt to chose lousy sch.

Soyabean,
This 1km thing is very scary...there are so many flats/condos within 1km now.

Ocean,
Schools always tell parents their PV registration are closed...when I called end Dec (b4 son turned 4), school told me, 'too early'. When I enquired in the following year when son turned 4, I was told they already closed applications for PV.

With 2 balloting slips for S'poreans, MOE hopes to make Singaporeans happier bcos of the huge no of PRs here, but there are many PRs who have also converted to citizens.

Soyabean,
How? U managed to get in?

Serene,
U already got the school liao?

Janet,
Wow... then wonder when is the right time to register for PV?
The balloting was really like a nitemare. There was hundred over pple waiting for the balloting last fri hoping to get in the 88 slots.
Quite scarly... as the seats got lesser, the pace get slower as some had already been called earlier.
There are some PR too who are really lucky... 1 chance also got it... so, what the diff..

As it stated to count down, 80, 70, 60, etc, my heart sank deeper... by the last 4 slots, i was really to give up and plan to take leave to apply for Qihua liao... suddenly at seat 87... my gal number was called...
happy.gif
whew... almost din get it...

Dear All,
For those who din get in, in woodland, other than woodgrove, heard that Qihua is getting better. Just that as the scool is more established (er... older), and abit further...

Good luck for those under 2C supplenment...

Here's the schools still avaialble..
http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies/

Hi Ocean
Congrats!!!
happy.gif

Me very suay... 4 out of 123 didnt get the seats, and we are one of the 4. My maid ask me not to buy anymore 4D or TOTO. :p

Anyway, yah, we were saying, perhaps it was a blessing in disguise... I hadnt had a good feeling of the school when I stepped in for first time to register. So perhaps really God's will. My hubby says I 安慰自己. But what else to do? Only 2 schools within 1 km from us and we already chose the not so popular one.

Girls,
I need your advise. My only choices are either Woodlands Primary and Sembawang Primary. Woodlands will prob need balloting (again) in Phase 2C supp. But though distance wise almost similar, there are 3 feeder services direct to school while sembawang only has 1.
Sembawang looks bright and cherry from outside, I feel that it looks like a happy school. Woodlands so far, not much feeling yet.
How how?

Oceans...
nope... I did not get in...
sad.gif
I'm one of the 30 who didnt get in... I was very very affected on Fri. We're going to register him at West View. Only West View and Zhenghua left in 2CS. Zhenghua only has 53 places, and with the spillover from Greenridge, BPPS and Beacon, it may go into balloting again in 2CS.

There was a set of TRIPLETS and a pair of twins who got in.

Linda...
Hugs! I can understand how you feel.
sad.gif
I also didnt have a good feeling on Fri morning as well, and somehow I have a feeling we wldnt get in, and somehow it happened.

Do you foresee many pple going for Woodlands? If yes, then maybe you shld choose Sembawang. having 1 direct bus is better than no bus service getting there at all. We're going for a school which confirm need not ballot cos we can't deal with going through another balloting. I will prob die of heart attack.

oceans,

yes yes! i hav gt into the sch i wan.. very very scary on ballotin date.. was super hapi when they called out my son name.. =)

woodlands pri is okok.. previous many said the sch is nt reali gd, bt nw the management change, so may be better? not too sure.. bt i don feel reali gd in tat sch..

Hi Linda

For Woodlands Primary Sch
What i heard from the mummies that their kids still there or left las PSLE.

Before the principal change, Prev principal used to push the students to participate lots of Sports tournament and neglect the school works, and kept changing teachers too.

Now, the New principal balance it, and the standard is catching up Woodgrove, last Year PSLE quite a handful of students went into those Famous Secondary, the score ard 270+.

The Discipline master is good and the ECA is good.

I intend to put my boy at a nearby BASC, i found out the the person incharge there, cos the students there mostly is from Woodgrove and Woodlands. He told me both standard ard the same But Woodlands Mathematics is much stronger that the other sch.

As for Sembawang Primary you might go KS forum to read about it.

Cheers

Hi soyabean
Yeah, in the balloting, 2 sets of twins got in and alot of kids had their names called twice. *Faint*
From the balloting history, woodlands has balloting for phase2c supp and applicants versus vacancies was 137%. So rather risky lor. With the kind of luck i have in greenwood, i seriously doubt i will have any chance in woodlands lor. And worst still, with the influx of non citizens in the area, I worry that by phase 3, sembawang might not even have space. I see the website of both schools, call me marketing slave, but from the looks, sembawang does "sell" better. So i reckon it will be sembawang tomorrow.

Have you decided which school for yours?

Hi Jolene
Thanks! Not much feedback from KS parents forum leh.
I also understand that Woodlands had a change in mgmt for the better. Both my niece and nephew are there, both of them are happy in school. While i cannot say I am not concern abt the academic standards of the school, it is not my priority. But I do understand that woodlands set a slower pace for p1 and p2 to allow them to get used to the primary school environment. This is something I like. Due to the balloting history in 2C supp, I will go for Sembawang lor.

Hi Linda

Me too academic not the 1st priority, the kids must enjoy and happy with during their school time and kids can excel themselves.

If that's the case better go for Sembawang, otherwise end of the day ...balloting again!

Linda,
I'm going for West View. No choice. I cannot go through another round of balloting. My heart wouldnt be able to take it. Whats more, West View is 5 mins walk from my place, so it's really convenient.

I will go for a safer bet, so I'm with you on Sembawang.
happy.gif
All the best! Tomorrow is the day, and hopefully, it will be the end and confirmed.

Hi Jolene
Yah lor yah lor... 4 out of 123 unlucky ones, I am one of them... What to expect at 37 out of 100? hahahaha... Secretly, I think Sembawang school uniform nicer lor. I lik girls in pinafores.
happy.gif

Soya bean
We posted same time!!
Yes!! I definately agree with you on the hope that it will be the CONFIRMATION tomorrow. Sigh... I want to move ahead and check out other stuff like school buses, lunches, timing etc etc and not to mention the exciting day of Pri 1 school orientation!!! I cannot wait to see my once so little girl, all red and wrinkly in a bundle, now doning her primary school uniform dunno can carry those huge turtle school bag anot... how time flies...

Linda...
Yeah time flies... our once little babies are growing up.
happy.gif

do you have #2 or even 3? :p
I have a 2yo. Now dat our #1 is not in a school of our choice, I dunno if we shld send her to West View or not. Well, we shall see how by the time comes.

Yes.... I look back at their photos, seem not so long ago they just came back from the hospital smelling great. My #2 is also 2. Born in June.
happy.gif
#3? If God willing, then there should be one.

Actually, it will be good for siblings to go into the same school, less headache for you. And the elder can look out for the younger one.

Hi Linda..

Hahaha... Previously Woodlands sch uniform was very nice how to describe.. ermm the back is cross stripes. The front got 2 white button but the dress still in red loh

Ya.. looking forward for their Graduation ceremony in Nov as well as Pri 1 Sch orientation.

hi ocean,
are you the mommy who conducts BP and have a gal who study in bishan pap?

I have a gal born 2004 who used to study there but transfer when we shift nearer to her pri sch.

Hi Ocean,
Read your earlier post...congrats on getting a place in the school. Now you can really breathe a sigh of relief.

Mummies,
Can't believe how time flies...now even my little gal is going to P1 next yr. Going to be a busy year ahead with both in diff sessions...good thing is 100% attention for both of them.

Ooo... I probably secure a place in Sembawang primary judging by the numbers posted in MOE website. Luckily, I chose to go there lor, cos Woodlands again exceed by 20+ applicants for whole phrase, then also dunno those 1-2km got chance to ballot or not.

Hi Jolene
Oh!!! You used to study there? I didnt know Woodlands changed their uniform. Yes, me too, I think I will cry when I see my girl in her graduation gown. Sigh....

Hi Soya
So qiao!!! My elder is Feb and son is 1 June. keke....you planning for #3??

Linda...
I was abt to come in and tell u that you made a wise choice cos Woodlands needs to ballot!

My elder is July.... and #2 is 9 June. =D #3? dunno leh...i'm open to it i guess. :p what abt u?

hehehehe.... I also think I am rather smart this round,,,hahaha or just plain lazy to go through the hassle again!

Hubby and I are fine with #3, just wondering if we can managed. With #2 growing and vying for attention now, it is tough to imagine. While we can settle our "lust" for #3 easily by just having another baby, I dunno if we are fair to the kids who end up getting less from us? What you think?

Did you plan for a 4 years' gap? Was thinking if #3 comes along, it will be ard that gap again too. By then me 34 already, dunno still can run after a small one anot :p

Hi Janet
I am doing fine..

HI Linda
Nop i am not the ex-student there but my cousins are, use to envy them..haha. Ya they bring back the Pic on Tues, so fast hor, my boy can even tell me ..he thinks he will cry on that day woh, think because of the graduation/farewell song.

bluey (bluey010)
No lah.. i dun do BP leh. Dont have gal at Bishan too.
happy.gif

Linda,
Thanks.
happy.gif
It was a sigh of relief.
happy.gif
Actually I thot u went for Woodgrove and have gotta in liao. So, u going Sembawang Pri? Yap, agreed, u shld be able to get a place.
happy.gif

Soya,
Thanks and u noe, i have been so suay recently... and in actual fact, my mum did bring my gal for praying too.. Whew.. When will u all know the results?

Janet,
Now, am waitin for the letter for orientation.
happy.gif
Heard it is in Nov. Times flies....

Serene,
Congrats.
happy.gif
It was very scary hor...luckily for us is over..

Dear All,
these are the school conducting balloting
http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/balloting/
For Woodgrove, it is 4 for the 3 seats...
sad.gif
I felt quite stressful for the parents....
Good luck to those in Phase 2C.

Mummies,
I always get teary at my kids' school concerts...should be the same at daughter's K2 graduation this year too.
blush.gif

Anyone here knows how to buy stuff from US websites ? Can teach me please ? Email add is [email protected]. Thanks.

Janet
U r not alone. Me too will get teary at graduation concert. Think this yr I will cry seeing my boy on stage receiving his scroll in graduation gown. Even the thought of the scene makes me teary

**Hi mummies!**

If you are looking for home-based P1 prep lessons and you are staying in the Tampines/Bedok, do pm me. I am a current teacher who specialise in teaching phonics and lower primary subjects. I hope I would be able to help your child be prepared for school in 2011. Cheers!

Foreverfriends Honey,
Daughter will be wearing white dress, socks and black shoes when receiving scroll for graduation concert. Sure will get teary when her name is called out.

I was so emotional when son graduated back 5 years ago...this year no better, for sure.

Hi mummies,
Have a great weekend.
happy.gif
Just doing a quick popby to post the last phase of registration. Do not want anyone to miss out.

Dear All,
If your child is not Singaporean or PR, Phrase 3 is the last phrase. And the registeration will be tmr.

Check here for the list of schools available at this stage. Remember to bring the necessary documents ok.

Goodness... my gal jus came and ask me how to do her tution class homework on Present Continuous Tense.

We are supposed to fill in the present continous tense here.

Eg. Tom ____________ now (sleep)

For a moment, i thought it is "Tom sleeps now.". But that is present tense leh... Do a quick online search, found that the basic rule is to add _ing

So think the answere should be

Tom is sleeping now.

Goodness, i missed my PRIMARY ENGLISH.

Saw the bag...it's very nice, but won't it be too big for your son going to P1 ? My son used a SPI small for P1 and 2....graduated to a Large only at P3.

Janet
My boy's kindy let the kids wear graduation gown n morta board when receiving scroll on stage.

Your gal's orientation on 12 Nov Fri. Parents hv to apply leave to attend the orientation huh

Janet, i also buy SPI small bag for my elder girl I bought it during singapore sale this year.

So fast we will be attending our children graduation.

Foreverfriends Honey,
My daughter's kindy let the kids wear graduation gown and mortar board during photo-taking. She had her pics taken today.

Her orientation on 12 Nov is at 630pm.

Liz,
I got the SPI active for my gal earlier this year...she loves the design gor gor has, so I got her the same design but pink colour.

Hi Mummies,
Do you take the 听写/spelling list given by kindy/cc seriously ? Spelling list is ok...words are acceptable and easy. But the 听写 is crazy !
睡觉, 长长的地毯,难过 etc etc.

Janet
Yes I take 听写/spelling list seriously. I ensure my son knows all words and sentance.

His cc has 听写/spelling list weekly.

Foreverfriends Honey,
I tell my girl to do her best and put in effort learning them...but if she gets any wrong, I do not scold her...the 听写 characters can be ridiculous at times.

Janet
My hubby wz very unhappy initially as the 听写 characters r v tough. We can't even write some of the words off hand ourselves. I told him this is to prepare the kids for P1. Study is not easy in Singapore. The kids hv to face it
