Hi, I became pregnant a year after miscarrying but my doc has prempted me that I have a blighted ovum as the sac is empty on a transvaginal ultrasound scan and going by my last menstrual date, I should be 7 weeks plus. Just wondering if anyone had a miracle like I see a lot of on foreign forums and was told there's a heartbeat n embryo at a later week. I am resigned to having a D&C but just thought I would ask... Thanks.
Anyone with a blighted ovum miracle?

Well, you can choose to wait, but subsequent ultrasound may confirm that it is still just an empty sac. I encountered that last year too. My husband told my gynae to let me wait for 3 weeks plus before inducing miscarriage.

hi Lady P, how are you now? I am also praying for a miracle & hope to be one to encourage mums-to-be who are diagnosed with blighted ovum with my experience. I am approaching week 9 this coming Sat for a scan, hoping to detect the precious heartbeat.
I read from a misdiagnosed miscarriages website that it is too early to diagnose a blighted ovum before week 9 and the sac must be at least 25mm & wait a week thereafter to confirm.
I am praying hard and will be praying for you too.

Hi zosssamuel,
In your previous scans, was the baby's heartbeat detected? You can choose to wait for at least one week (if the scan result is still the same next week, then do the operation), and make sure that there is no more heartbeat before you do the minor operation to remove the dead baby. However, this is not good for your body too.

By the way, this message of yours should be in the miscarriages thread, not here, as blighted ovum means ultrasound shows just an empty sac and there is no baby at all.

Hi Cat-herine,
For me, it was just like normal period, except that it is much heavier. And the tcm I saw at that time told me to rest 3 months at least, before trying for another baby again.

Hi just to share about my experience.
I was told by a gynae that I have a blighted ovum, ask me to go remove it asap.
He said i am supposed to be 6 weeks, but yet look like 4 weeks. (based on my LMP) Said it was a failed pregnancy.
I went home to wait for the day that it'll come out naturally.
Fast forward to 2 weeks later, I had a bleeding at home and thought, "this is it"
So immediately i went KKH 24hr clinic for a check, expecting the worst.
Suddenly, the KKH gynae said "look here, this is the baby."
I was shocked and kinda angry that the 1st gynae diagnose my pregnancy wrongly. Doesn't he know about late ovulation? How can he simply say mine is a failed pregnancy.
My ovulation is later than other people due to my menstruation cycle (32-35 days)
Hence the LMP calculation didn't work for me.
I'm 18 weeks today and waiting to go for the detailed scan 2 weeks later.
My advise is, dont do the D&C asap. Wait a while and maybe go for a 2nd opinion.

I'm just week 8. Suspose to see a heart beat but it didn't. He only see a sac and say not suspise to be. My menses very accurate and never late. It didn't come promising and I cry. The next day which is yesterday, I bleed a lot. It shock me and I know it was gone.
Gynea ask me to go down immediately and did a scan and confirm my bag is gone. My menses come and now flushes all out.
I'm very sad and angry. Why it this happening to me? I'm already 36. Have been trying for the past two years. Not easy to get pregnant and tested positive for stupid blood test etc.
Two years ago found out I have cyst and fibroid. Did a operation to remove. Now this thing happen to me. Why all unfortunate thing happen to me? Now still ask me to check for x ray if got block tube. I'm very tired. Check fertility test , remove cyst ,eat folic acid etc. I'm still like that. Whats the point.
