also, if you engage tukang urut, she can help mandikan baby, show you how to handle baby etc also.

and i had like an army of pple around me
the hb, my mum and my sis (who's also a former nurse)

note: not all makcik urut mandikan baby, so u gotta ask first if they do

honestly ah.. my husband.. dia tak pernah jaga baby.. so i'm gonna be realistic and say he's not gonna be very useful during the period after i give birth... cos he's not a hands on kinda person some more.. he's more of "audience" kinda person haha.. anyway he'll take leave la after i give birth but not long uh.. maybe one week max.. but i still think a woman will be more useful than having men around..

confinement nanny i've been thinking about it.. tapikan.. so far i survey semua cina.. i wanna find yang melayu if can.. you guys got any lubang on malay confinement nanny? dengar dengar they do housework and cook for you and jaga baby at night.. and all you need to do is feed baby and express breastmilk.. heh heh heh...

Lina !! Kita rindu kau seh.. busy semacam lah lu.

Hi Isabella, for me.. the 1st day i bawak balik baby..i tido sorang dgn baby and hubby. Baby nangis malam2, i panic tak tahu nk buat apa.. keep on crying, sampai i almost become depressed. Dia tak nk tido baby cot, so i was carrying her to bed tonggang terbalik dgn HB tido betul, i tido dgn baby terbalik. It was horror for me.. but lesson learnt. Then my mum came every morning to help cook lauk confinement and bathed my baby. Then she went home by lunch. This goes on sampai i lepas hari. Kalau my mum lambat sampai, i mandikan baby sendiri..

"i cant even hold him rite"

This apply to my HB. Dia tak dukung anak dia sendiri for a few weeks. He was so scared that he will harmed the baby. Leher budak tu kan lembik. So i had to handle the baby all the time. then bila baby leher dah kuat sikit, baru dia berani dukung.

and yes i've taken care of a few newborns(anak angkat tiga cute cute) and realise holding them can be very scary hopefully i don't panic when it comes to my own baby hee.. entahlah my husband ni dia boleh handle ke tak pun i'm not sure hee..
 
i felt my hb was more natural w the baby than i was.
but now of cos lain cerita...

But overall, i think just enjoy lah. It is always a learning experience with a newborn. Before you knew it, your baby grow up so fast before your very eyes..
 
For me tonite is VISIT the In-laws.. sigh* Semalam i pergi Jurong Pt to buy them ubat bunuh pijat (Bedbugs).. jgn plak mlm nie dorang ckp aku mengada-ngada..cos the house really infested and all they do is spray Sheltox. It doesn't work. Im going to be abit evil tonite and tell Maya not to play on the bed. Will tell her got cockroaches and bed bugs on the bed that can bite her legs and make her itch. That is the only way to let her play in the living room.
 
tu ah... some ppl also got advise me.. ambik maid pun takut sakit kepala heehee.. arghhhh confused!

wa bonda! ur in laws place got bedbugs! omggg... once when i was younger..at my dad's old place.. everyone in my family would go out in the early morning and come back only in the evening.. so windows and door always closed.. then suddenly got bedbugs cos no sun at all.. the only way to kill all of it is to wash everything with hot water.. like bedsheets i washed with hot water.. and then throw out pillows and what not.. but since i moved into my own house.. windows open all the time.. door always open.. one thing i dont understand at my old house.. my brothers HATE sunlight. diorang suka gelap gelappppppp...

anyway bonda, u're not being evil.. later she play on the bed.. then kena bite.. or worst still the bed bugs cling on to her and bring back to your place... urghhh... macam mana u can tahan with ur in laws i wonder... u've got tonnes of patience!

Bedbugs : Last time, kita pernah TERbawak balik bedbugs nie. That time Maya belum ada. It was badly infected that we had to throw away our mattress and bedframe. Binatang tu dah buat sarang. Then we saved abit of money then engaged pest control. We had to fumigate the whole house. Alhamdullilah, so far dah takder sampai sekarang. So you can imagine how many years i betul punyer jaga my house tau. Everytime kita balik from my in-laws, the 1st we do is get bukak baju dekat dapur (In the dark of course!) and terus masuk washing machine then simbah air panas. Now ada maid tinggal sama rumah dgn kita, so kita tak boleh lah berbogel beramai-ramai..so we go into the room, not even walking into the bedroom.. then we tanggal baju and terus masuk baldi. Then the maid will pour hot water into the tub. and this goes on till now. All this i do without complaining. My HB kesian kan kita anak beranak. Cos my HB dah byk kali suruh his parents fumigate the whole house. But the dad ckp "ok ok.." but i guess cost is the main thing for them. And the dad also always say that aku nie mengada-ngada..cos yg selalu kena gigit, is me and my dotter. He said he and the whole family can live with the bedbugs.

Mom's furniture semua rosak gara2 pijat beranak penak! Dag org Tua Tu Gi Buang semuanya!! Org dulu2 ckp, tangkap 1 masuk dlm botol and campak jauh2 Nanti semua hilang. Dont knw Hw true la.. Can try la no harm..
 
Hi Sher, memang dah ikut balik pun. Even kalau kita balik from my in-laws, and Maya nak tido at my mum place, we will open her baju and i get my mum to rendam dlm air panas and then lap kan badan anak ku. Haiz.. apa nk buat. Bersabar jer lah kan.
 
yes sher...i kat sana sterilize Maya toys pun dorang give me that kind of mengada-ngada look tau. Padahal anak aku at that time kena HFMD. So i sterilize everything there.. aiyoh..u should see their face. Muka seposen ah.

So all i can do is sabar jer lah. Rumours byk oi pasal aku tau..so tak kan nak attack MIL kan. So i diam ajer lah. Janji my HB tau i nie victim.

Isabella... call me saddist, but i suka kalau one of us is sick, then only my HB will say that we do not need to go to in-laws house.. but sadly, if can he will drag us go. Cos he said "I rather we go then they come over to our house".. anak dia pun malas nk layan dorang. Kalau mak dia dtg rumah aku, habis dia bongkar i punyer dapur. Got 1 time she make comment, "Cantik pinggan mangkuk Wati. Mcm tak pernah pakai jer".. Issh..Gua sabar babe !

My pinggan mangkok are gifts from my mother.. dah 5 tahun aku pakai..cos my mum beli 1 whole set masa i kahwin then it's Tupperware punyer brand per. Sampai sekarang masih bertahan. Konon dia ckp aku tak masak kaper.. i senyum jer, bila my MIL comment.

Isabella, the scary part is.. depan muka i..dia senyum and act very nice infront of her son and husband. Belakang aku, pergi buat rumours to my husband relatives and SIL. Nasib SiL dah geng dgn i.. LOL.

But i thanked god that i nvr stay with them lah.

Anyway I think it's good if you have some support in yr first few weeks to get confidence. It'll help if you can have someone cook some confinement food for you too. Maklumlah first one :p

I was at my mom's place when I gave birth to #1, but for #2, my hubby dah tak selesa and preferred to go back to our own place. I learnt to cook my own soups, after all newborn banyak tido jadi bila dia tido, I masak a quick lunch. On some days I go over to my mom's for urut, on some days the makcik urut came over to my place. Senang cakap, I langsung tak ikot confinement rules for #2. Alhamdulillah OK pulak. Asal dah tua tak kena rabak sudah :S

Bed bugs are nasty. urgh. In fact they say, bila beli katil pon we should try not to lie down on the display beds coz we never know what lurks around in there. Gross.

I think you're fortunate to get such an understanding husband. Takpe lah, anggap ni satu dugaan, insya-Allah one day yr MIL sedar jugak (chedebah) :p

SD, I am thankful that i have a great HB. Dia understand me cuma dia wont defend me. Tu sebab i have to sabar jer cos if i get into trouble with his mother, then takut dia stuck in between. Kesian kan dia. Selagi i boleh sabar, i sabar lah... buat dunno sudah.

On another note... besok i nak start paint my master bedroom. Tadi pagi hantar sms to my siblings to ask them for help..so tomorrow dorang sume nk dtg tolong...Yahoo! Tak sangka plak dorang nk tolong cos last minute plea. Then my bro coming with his 3 frens summore. I nak upah dorang makan lah mcm gini eh.. Tonite after In-Laws, got to go 24hrs NTUC to get chicken thigh and some prawns and eggs. Nak masak, Lemon Chicken, Oats Prawn and Sambal Telor. Then maybe get some ice-creams and nice sodas. Me so happy. Ada orang nk tolong i paint rumah..

Just had breakfast of mee bee hoon + mata lembu + chicken chop + Hot Soya Bean Milk. Syukur..

Weekend was great ! My brother and his frens and my sis came to help me out with the painting of our master bedroom. Had a blast. Cooked lunch for them. It was worth it.. Sunday, went to Tumbletots and went to IKEA to buy a small cheap desk. Only $29. Tapi punyalah berat !! Haiz...

Maya ckp "It's UNBELIEVABLE".. mana dia belajar word nie... jgn tanyer aku.. LOL. Then she keep on saying, "Mummy, i like the colour.." Padahal cream colour jer. And whenever we are at home, we all now prefer to baring kat bilik, cos mcm relaxed gitu.

Tapi ladies.. i rasa you hvae to be prepared for traffic jams on Mondays. Entah kenapa, selalu Monday yg byk traffic, but normally no accident. I think after the weekend, people tend to rush for school and werk. OTher days, sure ok tau.
