but, like what i told SD, i have a colleague who's kids are all straight As raffles students.
i asked her if she let her kids watch tv when they were small.
she said "yes, of cos! tv is actually good for their imagination!"

LOL..aku pun dulu semangat. But i guess Maya learn alot of other things thru play and watching playhouse disney online and on cable.
 
hehe, now i download flashcards apps!
and puzzle apps.
i can say that it's working.
my boy can complete the simple winnie the poo puzzle on his own.
 
Flashcards I believe work for the child's memory skills and concentration level. But as the child grows up,a lot of things around can distract him thus bringing down his concentration level. No matter hw u groom the mind,the child develops his own character due to environment/surrounding etc. Anyway not all things in school require memory work what kan!
Being typical singaporean, aku pun ada kiasu la sikit(apa tak,anak sorang jer!) banyak trial an error on him,tapi sekarang rasanya taklah semua mujarab!!lol! Now certain things nak suruh dia buat naik berbuih mulut!

Sher, for me.. im more of a game mummy. Eg, i will describe something, and she will say the object. Then i associate some other things with the object, like the colour, the texture..then i will create stories and ask her to continue. Then i will get her to dance with me and let her express herself on how she feels. So far, she is expressive sikit..Kalau my bro disturb her, she will say "Kakak is very upset, Cik Bobo make me upset!" Kalau she is happy, she will make happy she will go "Weee!!", kalau dia jump, then dia ada sound effect like "Boing Boing"..nie gara-gara aku pun act mcm monyet jugak kat rumah.. So monkey see and monkey do.

err wateva i want anaqi to do I will do together wiz him...infact I will get every1 at home to join...

we do it as a team...

If he does hand painting...all of us will do together wiz him...

If he does coloring so do we...

Sumtimes aku rasa ...macam so deprive of childhood eh...lol..

Even kalau go to Explorer Kids...kita semua pun ikut dia panjat2
 
Bagus lah gitu Mas. Aku suka your way.. So anak kau tahu that he have family support.

But diff people diff cara. Dulu i ever take a taxi. This pakcik is about my dad's age. You know me lah.. aku nie suka bercerita and bertanya khabar. So found out this pakcik has 3 child. Sumer goes to JC and all very smart. He tell me some tips on how to get your children to be smart lah. Cos anak2 dia sumer masuk UNI. And he is just a taxi driver and wife is a housewife. I must say, i was impress.. cos berapa tahun aku naik taxi, most of the taxi drivers i get to know have smart children walaupun dorang orang susah.

In fact the diff btwn sarah and adam is so obvious tau.
Like i say aku more slack w sarah, so her vocab and alphabets not v good
Adam at tht age can use big words to describe things.
He even recognise his abc and phonics sounds.
Tats y it was a natural progression to enrol him in phonics.

Mayb now aku kene shuttle to and fro hantar dorang skola
so by the time i rch home it will b abt 4pm.
Then aku start masak, shower them so by the time they settle
aku da penat giler. So tv will be their companion.
And sad to say, the least i can do is reading to them.

Tv watching still aku control. Its max 2hr but wkend i close one eyes.
Da penat sgt sumer tolak tepi..
 
aku agree...bila da penat, bukan close 1 eyes....infact close 2 eyes...

Sebab itu aku try to rush home ASAP....aku target by 7 latest aku sampai rumah...by the time aku settle down...8 juz nice....
aku have ard 1.5 - 2hrs wiz him...dats where aku ajak dia do those online puzzles....

tapi serious sumtimes macam nak tercabut nyawa aku
 
that's why kita mummies are SUPERWOMAN.... i always believe that ALLAH tu kasi kita pain threshold yg teramat dalam, patience level kita very the high and out love for our children is unmeasurable.

I loike ur way,participating in ur child's activity..I used to do that but now i miss everything. Sekarang dah start reminding me not to kiss him bila hantar gi sekolah so I have to beg to let me. Eventually he said ok BUT in the car only..boring sey! I would pujuk my heart telling myself at least he still allows me to hold his hand while walking but I rasa ini pun tak lama lagi dah tak boleh jugak la..I watch my son 'outgrow' me in his life

I guess for smaller firms, memang dorang lokek nak naikkan gaji. But no matter what, don't let them take away your right to yr maternity pay. Wati, I think you'll get yr pay every month as per normal. Kalau tak, kering siak.... tiba2 after 3 mths, jadi OKB, durian runtuh.



But I learn today that time spent with a child is very very precious and important. In my line of work, I've met many parents who 'outsource' parenting, some becoming weekend parents, some, just kasi orang lain jaga anak. It's so scary, but the effects can only be seen many years later in the teens.

I also learnt today (again) that parents must be in control. So tonight, I'm not letting Adam watch 311 in the living room. Nangis lah dia, I won't budge. Coz I'd rather he cry now than I cry later.
 
Gulp ! Mas/Sher, baru aku perasan anak korang nie boys eh.. hmm..so i think dorang nie akan slowly mcm drift away from us in a good way lah.. Nak jadi abg2 kan..tak bleh pimpin tangan, tak bleh cium cium or hug hug with them.. aiyah..now aku yg sedih plak..cos my 2nd is a boy.. Takper, nasib ada Maya (My Joy)

i've got this burning question and wondering if you all can help me... any mums here beranak and took care of baby by themselves without help from any relatives or maids whatsoever? pasal, now dont know if my mum in law is coming and my dad bukannya boleh tolong la kan he's so old already.. abeh kalau nak ambik maid for 4-5 months i don't know if its possible.. cos i dont think i need a maid for years you see..
