Advice needed: How to cure Eczema?

hi all, my son is 30 mths old now and has been suffering from eczema since he is 6 mths old. i have brought him to see doctors from the polyclinics and private clinics but his skin condition does not seem to get better after applying the prescribed cream. he still scratches himself (sometimes throughout the nite) during sleep. when i see him scratch here and there, my heart aches...

hope someone here can help me. any advice would be appreciated.

Try California Baby - Aloe Vera cream. It works on my gal. After 2-3 times, the skin becomes better, not reddish nor itchy any more.

Hi, you can try aloe vera 100% gel pure, no color added, fragrance free, Fruit of the Earth. It works well with my boy. He has both eczema and heat rash. For his case, applying too much cream and lotion on his body cause heat rash. So this gel is good in the sense it is cooling, will not cause heat rash and moisturing at the same time, helps his eczema. I have tried various creams on him too but only this works well with him. Hope that you will be able to find something that suits and works well with your child soon. fyi, Unity healthcare is having a 15% discount on the aloe vera gel right now.

Hi Timmymummy,

Can i have the exact location for the mentioned product. Called NTUC Healthcare Co-operative Ltd but they dun carry. Please HELP!!!! Thanks

JT. Little dreamers sells california baby aloe vera cream. If not bring him to c a doc. I've eczema too & i always c my doc. U wan his clinic location? Pm me

JT,
If you consider to bring him to a doctor, you can try Dr. Joyce Lim at Paragon. My cousin's baby went there (she had bad eczema), and now she is cured.

hi, the 100% aloe vera gel works well on my child. he seems to scratch less often nowadays.

however he still scratches his scalp now and then. again, he did this during nite time when he sleeps. he has been using johnson & johnson head-to-toe shampoo but seems like it doesn't suit him as he is suffering from eczema. anyone can share with me what kind of shampoo to use on his hair(scalp)?

any advice would be greatly appreciated!

eczema can only prevent. keep the skin cool n if there is sweat, wipe it off with wet cloth. sweat will trigger the itch.

keep the skin moist n avoid using harsh soap to bathe. use soap free shower gel if possible.

diamond_shortcake,
My boy also has eczema, used to scratch his scalp very often. I use Sebamed children shampoo for him and he does not scratch any more.

You can also try California baby super sensitive baby bath or body wash/shampoo.

We put california baby calendula cream all over him, it works very well for him.

You can also try Cetaphil.

ah_bie is right. You can only prevent. Johnson & Johnson is too drying for eczema prone skin. You must alway keep the skin moisturized. Put moisturizer on him (calendula cream or aloe vera cream) at least 2 times a day.

Also make sure that you wash his clothes with mild detergent (like kodomo baby laundry detergent) and rinse very thoroughly. Previously I used FAB powder for my boy's clothes and his eczema was really bad.

hi all, thanks for the kind advice. will try the california ss shampoo on him.

how about the environment? do you let your kid sleep in air-con room or under the fan? which is better? the air-con is cooling but afraid it might be too dry.

ditto with using California Baby.. J&J is too harsh for most kids, let alone Eczema kid. Also, I gave my girl flaxseed oil in her porridge. It definitely helped! Aircon might be too dry for the skin. What I do is that I switch on aircon and set it to switch off after 2-3 hours and use fan for the rest of the night. Don't forget diet is also v important. No rubbish like peanuts and shellfish.

you can get crocodile oil from 'the jamu shop' online (sorry bought it over a yr ago forgot the website) for about $17 a glass bottle (abt 100-120ml?)

after using whole bottle and apply whenever it had been absorbed, no more itchiness!

Don't worry, they never kill the crocodile to get the oil... But wonder how do they make it??

it doesn't smell too, just smell like your cooking oil... but can see some fats inside.

Hi,
Yes the California baby super sensitive baby bath works for my baby too. And instead of the california cream (which is getting more and more ex!), I use the california calming oil. It goes a long way compared to the cream. Once their skin is well moisturized it's won't itch. Hope this will work for your bb too. As my boy got older his skin condition improves, the outbreaks get less frequent. So dun worry too much

Hi my baby has eczema since born and now he is 6.5months occasionally will have around his mouth area. Sometimes it is so bad that he scratch till bleed.

My doctor prescribe Bayer Canesten HC cream and it healed within 1-2 application. The doctor say is fungal infection. I tried paw paw cream and california baby cream but it dosen't help at all.

hi bubbles, saw some california baby products in a shop which is selling organic stuffs at Harbourfront centre third floor.

DON'T EVEN THINK ABT IT.
Bleach is a very strong agent. Swallowing it might cause death. Mixing it with bath water will irritate the skin if not burning it.

i read up on articles abt it coz both my bb and hubby has eczema... but don't think it's advisable to try it. Bleach irritates norm skin, let alone sensitive skin.

Hi, I have 2 bottles of Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (473ml) for sale at $14 each. This cleanser is recommended for baby's daily bath by the paediatrician, and I overstocked on it.

The Cetaphil website describes this product as "recommended by Dermatologists for years for people with special skin needs like acne, rosacea, or eczema because of its gentleness. Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleanser is gentle enough for children, teens and adults. "

Expires in Oct 2009, collection at Kovan station only, interested parties please PM me.

California baby pdts are available @ Watsons in Takashimaya and united sq... My baby had very bad eczema as well and i brought her to see a few docs.. in the end, the specialist gave her potasium permaganate wash for cold compress and a prescribed blended cream and it works! Best is just go to a skin specialist.. i have all kinds of creams purchased prior to seeing the specialist!

Hi Cecilia,

Can you pm me the specialist's contact? My baby girl is suffering from very bad eczema around her neck. Disrupting her sleep. need to do something about it fast.

cheers

My son had mild eczema since young..other than using the creams to ease the itch, I make sure that the things he gets in touch will not irritate his sensitive skin further.. I came across this all natural bean pillow..the covers are dyed using plant dyes and seem to have good effect on babies with sensitive skin. My son has been hugging them to sleep and the eczema has not acted up since..

Lucas Papaw ointment!!

Hi
There is a shop @ Tanglin Mall selling cheaper California baby pdts. They are selling calendula cream @ $24.50/bottle, so much cheaper than those fr Watsons and Novena sq shop.

hi, hope a kind mother can advise. My daughter has eczema, and she likes to scratch her scalp at night. She now has a 50c bald hair patch, which seems to be widening daily. My PD suspects this is caused by hair pull/scratch at night, not ringworm. Any mummy has had the same experience, and what can I do to relieve my daughter of her scalp itch? Thanks! Advice will be much appreciated! Regards

Hi my baby boy has eczema since 2 months but it was controlled until few days ago .. sooo hot. i use cetaphil and QV cream. only when eczema flare up then i use the steroid cream doc gave to reduce the inflammation. our poor babies... the heat is really bad these few days....
in addition to that.. my MIL is not helping by asking me to bring bb to see doc everyday as she jus cant get it into her stubborn brain that eczema cannot be cured but can be controlled.
sad.gif
it makes me sad and sick to hear the nagging everyday and she will say my hubby touch him and kiss him and pass eczema to him ( my hubby has eczema)... haiz.. so if i use aloe vera gel, on bb's back.. it is good for heat rash and eczema? he also like to scratch his little head heehe.. i dunno what to do for his head..

Use Eumora.

My daughter had eczema but after using Eumora, it has been cured totally.

Please hor... alot of doctor's cream contains steroids, they are NOT good for the baby when used too much and too often.

Babies have very fragile skin, when we use soap on them, it results in eczema. UK health board researched and found out that soap is the no. 1 cause for eczema.

But thank god there's eumora. =)

Can contact me for more info because ever since it cured my daughter's mozzie bites and eczema, i've been doing it as my business. my contact no. is 82281715.

oh btw... after giving birth, i had some interesting thing called contact eczema on my hands

Nothing i did or used works and lots of money spent at the doctors too.

So Eumora is the only solution to my problem because after it healed, i've never had that problem since.

Interestingly, my mum had that on her hand too and after seeing a dermatologist who gave her an injection costing over $200, it still didn't solve her problem. Right now she uses only Eumora and it's under control although not yet completely healed because everyday she's still doing household chores.

So people, do consider it. Ask me for more info if you need to.

i am also having very bad hand eczema since 2 years ago, nothing seems to cure doctors oni prescribe steriod cream but steriod cream is no good for long term use and it couldn't cure eczema, it will come back when you dun apply the cream.

i have since been seeing chinese doctrs and at least it does help and improve buy though not completely cure as yet.
i am currently 4.5 mths pregnant.

what is this Eumora? it is an oral medicine or a steriod cream? and where can i get it?

Hello Pearlyn,

My daughter's hand having mild eczema on her hand lately & would like to know more about the eumora that you mentioned...like what snowball123 asked, what was that & where can we get it?

hi,

i have 2 bottles (473ml & 273ml) cetaphil gentle cleansers to let go.

pm me if keen.

my bb has eczema too but both hubby & i don't have this problem. even #1 don't have eczema *cross fingers*
though bb's eczema still controllable, but still feel irritated when it returns. currently using physiogel as his moisturiser & ellgy extra gentle cleanser as his shower gel. not using cetaphil as im afraid if change suddenly, will trigger his eczema, hence selling these 2 bottles.

Hi

HI Cecilia,

Pls recommend your specialist. Want to get my bb to see specialist eczema worsen since 1m and now 4.5m, getting scarier.

My cousin had eczema when he was a baby. Was quite bad. My aunt applied Cetaphil on him religiously. Now he is in his teenage years and no longer has eczema.

hi,
my son has suffered from eczema for 2yrs.I've tried tons of lotions,cleansers..etc...We spent AUS$300 plus whenever we traveled to australia(coz there r more varieties & cheaper lotions over in australia).
But those lotions/cleansers can only prevent the eczema gets worse, yet couldn't cure it.So I switched him to special diets. And now,he is cleared from eczema..completely....Here r what i did for his diet:
1) Try to cook organic food as far as possible.
2) Include antioxidant food such as red onion, garlic, brocoli in his diet.
3) Feed him with more "colourful" food...such as "white"=cauliflower,"green"=brocolli,"red"=tomato,"yellow"=pumpkin.
4) Give him vitamins & supplement= Multivitamin(make sure no colour/preservative/gluten),probiotics,omega..etc
5) Moisturizing after bath n whenever he feels itchy.
6) change his bedsheet, pillow cases diligently.
7) make sure he drinks plenty of water & no soft drink nor any type of colouring drink.
8) include flaxseed oil/olive oil in cooking.
9) try to eat home-cooked food
10)eat lots of fruits such as grapes, apples, oranges, berries, kiwi, papaya, banana.
if my son rejects certain fruit such as papaya,I'll make it into juice with other fruits such as apples.

well,it is a long journey...but I am glad he is happy boy without suffering from itchness.

Simp: my bb has been cured by the specialist they gave this lotion to apply I think it is named Desonide. Then doc also advised to use moisturiser to keep skin less sensitive, it's a lite blue bottle cetaphil. hope it will help your bb too

i am an adult who suffer severe eczema since this jan. i have tried many types of moisturisers, etc and now slowly able to eliminate its cause..i stop QV after months of giving me skin itch and redness. now i apply almost every few minutes to hours on just pure olive oil (icm brand, olivin) avail in all pharmacies..i also using a herbapeutic wash(from himalayan herbs) that has brought dowm all the raised bumps and redness of months. i also use very much reduced detergent to wash clothings. i reduced g3 juice as it did not help me at all. i eat more vegetables and less meat dish.. i try to sleep more and try hard to control mental stress..u may try these methods to find out the cause and slowly eliminate them.

Hi there, after a recommendation by someone else, I tried physiogel cream from guardian/watsons n it worked like a miracle. After only 3-4 days I saw an improvement, and after 1 week, my skin looked like it never had eczema, only faint pink skin where the skin had healed.
Prior to this I has tried different types of expensive creams n they didn't work at all, some would make the condition better after a few days but it would return after that and I'd be back at square 1 completely frustrated. . I can safely say this is the first n only cream that healed my skin. (I had very bad eczema by the way, constant peeling, cracking and bleeding. N intense itch especially at night which made it worse)

This cream's safe for babies and adults alike. Pls give it a try. And don't give up, keep putting in the cream without fail after every single wash/wipe or even when skin seems slightly dry. And do not use soap for as long as the skin is recovering, and use mild/sensitive soap after recovery period. Persevere for atleast a week and u should notice a difference.

Hi everyone, i was once suffered chronic water blister ecxema for a year, now, water blister eczema all cleared off. The healing point started after i use neem product, -ve ion with far infrared mattress, daily wear of -ve ion undergarments and compression socks. I am the real testimony and now believe -ve ion and far infrared products which is good for all ages as it is the best cure for skin problem. -ve ion with far infra red absorbs to skin directly to repair skin and all other internal ailments. Neem as external application for child while adults can consume neem internally.

Pls wats apps or sms me at 97710200 if you want to listen to the product talk to gain better insights in it. Having suffered skin problem before, it is no joke on its pain, itchy, swelling and stress. As long as we can still afford to try non-steroid method, please be willing to invest for similar product that i am using.
