Hi Everyone

I have a boy, when he started crawling, he always focused using his right leg to crawl. Now he is 2, he can stand and squat with no issue. When he starts to run, it looks like his left leg is weaker but does not look like a limp as he is not dragging his left leg.

Do I need to bring go see a PD or should I let him exercise and run more and observe first as he only started running recently?

Any parents with the same experience as me?

Thanks :)

Why not bring to polyclinic and get referral to KKH specialist for them to have it checked? And at the same time just monitor his daily movements. My kid tend to fall easily, be it walk or run, i always tot she got weak legs too, but never really bother as she dont complain of pain and can carry out daily activities other den bruises all over.

By the age of 2, children should be able to walk properly. They should be able to run a short distance as well. If you notice anything unusual, it is best to get it checked out at the next routine visit to Polyclinic or Pediatrician. In the meantime, you could also try to play games with him to stimulate some exercise (and confirmation of your doubt). Example, let him kick a ball. left leg. right leg. Look at his posture and see if anything is strange. This is a good age to get it checked out because early intervention is preferred if there are any underlying condition. And if the doctor cleared you this time round (but you still have doubts), get it check again at 2.5 years and 3 years. Which is what happened to my kid, and I was right - he does have some problems but we are doing well now.
