(2015/08) Aug 2015 Mummies

Hi sane I hope you are no longer exposed to second or third hand smoking now. It's really very bad for the mummy and baby.

Sometimes my dog's smell can also trigger nausea for me.

Thanks dear, I am no longer with that co. It never confirmed my probation. Anyway never feel at home there too.
The smell of smoke really made me want to puke and I have to go out for fresh air.
I have a chinchilla at home too so I have to clean the cage often and mop the floor with dettol :)
If you have only 1 dog, it's fine. Imagine my friend has 4 pets and he never even bath them. :(

Oh my, your friend is not exactly a very responsible pet owner.

I have two dogs at home. The smaller one, a shih tzu, belongs to my in laws. Mine is a chow chow. I still walk him but I think when the tummy gets bigger, I won't be able to walk him anymore in case he tugs and pull at the leash when he gets excited at the presence of certain animals.

Hi, yes prescribed by gynae. I had severe vomitting for a few days so I told him and he prescribed it. I only take it if I feel really bad. My sis in law also took anti nausea med cos she had very bad ms. Perhaps you can discuss it with your gynae?
Hope this helps....

I am seeing my gynae next Monday, I will ask him about it. Thanks.

@sane, cant believe a company allows staff to smoke in the office! I only heard some companies less-preferred smokers becos they will take-five many times in a day.

@slchua and @cadancemum hav u all tried lemonade and apple juice (from google)? heard avocado helps too... im taking banana/avocado smoothie, lemon honey and i sort of feel it helps...

For banana, try not to take those very long type.. The short banana is better.. i heard there are news on those long bananas is not for us now....

Happy new year,mummies!!
I have been a silent reader since tested positive mid Dec. Expecting #2 & #1 is a dragon boy, turning 30months.
Looking forward yet can't help worrying of my sat Gynae appt.gynae says should b able see heartbeat then.
Had a mc aug failed to detect heartbeat. Hope & pray all's well for sat!

Would loved to learn from all d mummies here :)

Heartbeat can only b detected on week7/8 right? Its a brand new year, all will b smooth n well for all!

Hi sane, yah i also feel my boy a bit too young plus I don't have window grilles so I don't feel safe about it. The husband seems to want him in his own room. Maybe I start to brainwash the husband first haha.

Hi jayjtan, i totally understand your feelings. I went thru the same situation in mar. I read before that rainbow babies are stronger so I am sure you will see the heartbeat soon, usually around 7/8 weeks like what Conybear shared. Jia you!

I heard about the long type of bananas too. More cooling. Usually for young kids my mil asked us to buy the small type because of this reason. But I don't know if it is as cooling when blended with other fruits.

The long type is liang, & should be avoided for kids, more so when pregnant. Eat with moderation if really have cravings

how abt rojak? I ate a plate before. Or avoid pineapple and okay to eat the rest?

I think everything is about moderation..

I drink 1 cup of coffee everyday, but the past 2 weeks when i smelled coffee, i wanna puke, so i had no choice but to stop drinking. :(

I make bittergourd soup & watercress soup to drink.. But i will add red dates to reduce the 'liang-ness' of this category of soup.

I am into my 8 weeks, & morning sickness is getting more jia lat..

Just want to share some info my friend told me. Her hubby specialises in fetal abnormalities and he was very strict with her on certain things so no harm knowing.
When eating fruits remove the skin as there could be harmful residues.
Also try to avoid changing diapers for older kids if they poo.

Im a soup lover, parents are cantonese. But after I know my current status, thou adding red dates will reduce the 'liang' but i try to skip certain soup.

Must remove the wax of apple etc, better for general health too. But changing diapers for older kids...?

Cos poo may have bacteria.... now i always outsource diaper changing to hubby. Perfect excuse!

Hi all,

I have been silently reading this thread since I got know that I'm pregnant on 1st Dec. I'm currently preggie with #2 and #3 with the help of SO-IUI, my eldest daughter is turning 8 yo in 3 months time. I know it's a huge age gap but what to do since I have ttc for 5.5 years with 3 failed SO-IUI & 2 failed IVFs.

For my #1, pregnancy was not an easy one with ms starting from 7 weeks until I gave birth to her. This time round, my morning sickness kicked in at 5 weeks plus and it has been super miserable. I'm just past 8 weeks and I have not reported to work since the 6th week scan and I have lost 4 kg. I'm running out of ideas for meal time and snacks that I can stomach.

I seek comfort in this forum to look forward to the first trimester, etc etc.

Hi, we sama sama! My twins also from SO IUI :) so nice to meet 3rd mommy with twins in this group. Try to eat small meals frequently to curb ms? Actually I do envy pple with ms, heard hormones are good, pregnancy progressing well .. Unlike me, cos not much symptoms so always paranoid babies growing well anot, so think of this on the bright side? :p my friend also children older le, 8 and 10yo, now pregnant #3 she say purposely plan so that e kids old enuf can help out de...

Hi Dreytan,

My boy is 26 months now so I probably will have an easier time. Not to frighten u, the terrible twos are true but I laid foundation early so my boy listens to me most of the time with the ocassional tantrum. I have a couple of friends whose #1 & #2 are about 2 years apart. Definitely challenging. They chose to stay at home. I have thought about it but maybe in 2 years time when my in laws move far away. Currently my mil is a blessing to help me with day care. I have started thinking about how to cope but I must admit I have not fully figured it out. My first plan is to send my son to school next year before no. 2 is out. Second plan is to get daddy to be more engaged. This seemed to work cos he will ask daddy to take over some of the duties such as bathing so this frees me up to rest and in future take care of baby. Third is to read to him about a new baby to prepare him. I am considering about the sleeping arrangements though. Have not figured it out. My boy currently sleeps on a mattress beside our bed. Don't know whether to kick him to his own room. Experienced mummies any ideas?

My 2.5yo girl sleep on my bed with us too since she 10mo. Can't bear to kick her out.. I like co sleeping. But friends with kids told me, all sleep same room elder one go sch tend to fall sick often will also spread to baby so better shift her out b4 baby arrives if not she will resent baby for "taking over her bed"... Still pondering.. Hahaha

Btw, i into my 8weeks, & realise my morning sickness seems to be getting more jia lat.. Is tat normal??

Constispation is also one of my woes, so i try to eat apple a day, & indeed it makes things easier..

It's true about the banana, del monte are too cooling for kids and for us now. Best to avoid. My TCM told me to avoid eating a veg too. Shanghai green is the name. Most of the food just eat in moderation should be fine? Rojak I heard the sauce is not suitable for us but I still take during my 1st pregnancy.

Ms getting worse at 8 weeks is normal.

I have a super big fear of constipation. I had piles in my last pregnancy. It is more painful than everything else. So this time I resolve not to let it happen. I drank prune juice the last time. It is quite helpful.

The part about falling sick sounds like a real issue. Now that u mention it, i recall my sil case. When her second one was two weeks old caught a flu virus from the older brother. So poor thing.
My boy sleeps separately from us on his own mattress on the floor. Our dog sleeps with us on the bed so can't let the kiddos sleep together on the bed haha. So it is still possible to keep them separate if bb sleeps in own cot but space is a constraint. So crowded until no space to walk.

I also heard about rojak sauce not being suitable. I suspect it is the prawn paste sauce that is added to it?

Can't wait for first tri to be over. Tomorrow is the start of the work year and so busy already. I have so much difficulty sitting thru meetings which last more than one and half hours cos i get nauseous from being hungry but i feel too paiseh to snack. It will be so obvious.... at least after first tri i can openly snack...

I'm in my 6th week but I have zero symptoms at all. Not even tender breasts. Except that I felt sleepy most of the time, otherwise I'm perfectly normal. After my hospitalisation due to high fever & kidney infection, I don't feel anything different with my body condition. Sometimes I'm wondering if I'm really preggy. Praying hard for the next gynae visit to be well & smooth. Hoping for the little flickering heart beat to appear next week

Anyone using Babyplus? I got from my previous pregnancy, still thinking wanna use anot. Becos lazy LOL never faithfully keep to the schedule one.

BTW just to share, for those doing Oscar at 12week, instead of going thru your gynae, you can ownself book at NUH. Its the same thing and cost cheaper. 2012 I did at NUH at $235. Detailed scan at 20weeks also can do at NUH. Definitely cheaper thn going thru gynae. :)

How can a dog not bath for 3 weeks? He will be bringing them to the new place tomorrow. I pity the house owner who rent him the flat. :( the stench probably won't go away.

@sane, cant believe a company allows staff to smoke in the office! I only heard some companies less-preferred smokers becos they will take-five many times in a day.

It's indeed horrible and it doesn't matter anyway because they never confirm my probation citing lousy excuse that I never bring in sales, 0 clients when I was never given a single day of product training and was asked to do mundane administrative work instead. At the time of interview, I fely so sian when i heard it's a small local co.

What else is the forbidden food? I have carving for rojak, just finished a whole plate last week, carved for sashimi as well .....but I avoided the del monte banana, pineapple, coconut :)

Coconut juice u can hv it at the last month before ur delivery... but not those peeled off skin 1... must be those 1 whole coconut... but.. still long way for us.. haha

I think u wouldn't envy us with ms if u have ms yourself. It's vice versa, I also envy those without ms. My colleagues who got pregnant all don't have ms like me. How many weeks r u in now and your edd by your gynae is based on singleton or twins?

Hi all, I'd like to join you guys too. Finally heard the heartbeat of the little one few days ago. Lotsa to learn from the experienced mummies here.

Hello everyone, I am new to this thread. Glad we have a platform for sharing. :) I am currently at 6 weeks. Looking forward to learning more from one another.

Can u tell me more abt Babyplus?

Abt Oscar test, how abt TMC? My gynae prob will direct me to TMC n do...

Wow!! How many weeks for u to hear e heartbeat?

I feel that im overly worried (or nicer word is concerned), worry/concern abt every lil thing >. <

The consultant fee for a AP is $146++ n i ever stayed in the 1 bedded ward for 1 week before, so far so good. Room is spacious with a nice view and nurses are caring.
This time for my delivery there, I will still opt for 1 bedded. :)

Hi Sane,

Do you mind sharing which gynae you went to previously and your experience with him/her?

My sil passed me the Babyplus thing too. Initially I passed it to my brother cos I didn't need it but he told me they decided not to use it cos they read online of some negative side effects. I didn't think too hard to ask then.
Based on observation, my sil has 2 boys. She used it for the older one regularly but not the younger one. Older boy has extremely fast speech development. But then again hard to conclude it is due to Babyplus cos his motor skills are terrible. And from what I know, kid usually develops either motor or language faster. Hardly find one that develops both just as fast.
Just talk more to the baby I guess. That should be good enough.
By the way, my two year old sings terribly. Almost no tone. Is it normal??? He always sounds like he is rapping instead. Friends say he is still small but I do wonder haha. Maybe I should sing more to this one...

Hi ConyBear,

Little one was 7w 5d at tat time. Tats during my 2nd gynae visit. Hearing it excite me lotsa. Sounded kindof cute. Lol.

My gynae also told me abt Oscars scan and I think harmony test. He asked me to think abt which one I wanna do. Really no idea. Wat do U gals prefer and to do at where?

Hi :)
My gynae also asked me if I would like to do Oscar scan or harmony test. She told me Oscar cost about $300 and harmony about $1k. I think I may go for Oscar.

Just now my MS like disappeared after lunch, I am so worried.. :( Still don't feel too queasy...

@ConyBear, same as you... I worried about every single thing too... I guess 1st time mum, no experience, everything also v worried.

I second time also worry about every single thing. So it is normal to worry. There are good days and bad days for ms. Maybe your little one approves of what you ate for lunch :)

Yeah there will be good days and bad days. I'm having bad ms and vomit few times a day. I can't bring myself to drink plain water I will feel so bloated. And Im feeling neck & shoulder ache v frequently, feel so uncomfortable and just don't feel like doing anything or going anywhere. I cannot concentrate at work too.

I dunno Im how many weeks.. but I guess its 6th week.. Can eat Thai food? Love to eat tom yam soup, phad thai and basil rice.. no issue right?

My lunch and dinner all taken at the same Thai stall today.

I guess thai food not an issue if your stomach can take it. Mine not very suited to spicy food so I avoid it.

My MS peak at 8 weeks and it's like hell, made me so depressed.
Today I have MS for the whole day, made me so moody.

Coconut juice u can hv it at the last month before ur delivery... but not those peeled off skin 1... must be those 1 whole coconut... but.. still long way for us.. haha
Haha ya, I took it fr week 32 onwards :)

Hi Sane,

Do you mind sharing which gynae you went to previously and your experience with him/her?

I was seeing Dr Edwin Thia during the last hospitalisation. He is a nice and caring gynae now I am with Dr Han and will be seeing him tomorrow :)

I second time also worry about every single thing. So it is normal to worry. There are good days and bad days for ms. Maybe your little one approves of what you ate for lunch :)

Thanks for your assurance, slchua. :)
Hopefully is because little one love lunch. :)

Sometimes plain water really can feel v not nice. Maybe can try squeezing some lemon, may help abit? Rest more if possible, can really be v tiring.

Thought of something while showering. New mummies to be, in case no one has mentioned before, we are not supposed to take hot baths when pregnant. Sustained high temp is not good for baby's development.

i shower warm water everyday becos weather is cool and im ald feeling cold...

@bellbell09 so its true... plain water will make us floated! I tot im the only one n hav been wondering y my tummy so biiig. Perhaps we shld try out @Piggling suggestion on lemon water...

Del monte is worse than Rojak >. < will change to the shorter ones for smoothie thou taste maybe not as good... i also like rojak and i sort of feel that basically prawn paste and certain shell seafood is "poisonous" so im trying to avoid but duno when i will just let go n eat!
