(2013/06) June 2013

I notice on days I do a lot of housework, went for a long brisk walk or a swim, I tend to sleep much better.

Also, do you mummies experience very dramatic dreams during this time? My dreams are always very exciting and eventful!

hahah no time to dream...too tired n need my slp..my 'nightmare' is my son waking up..lol but yeah apparently ur dreams get v vivid during pregnancy hehe

ya...my dreams all very vivid de..

another time is i dreamt i gave birth ...lolxxxx drama hor

last night i dreamt that i gave birth to two girls and we were at home enjoying life. so fun to take care and play with them. reality is that there's only 1 pax inside my tummy. lol!

Jessica, I went for inspiremum prenatal trial at tanjong pagar. The instructor was nice and friendly. Towards the end of the class, we did breathing exercise and she taught us how to properly breathe which will help us during birth. I signed up for the full course after.

Psp, it's an ongoing course. Dun need to create ur own group. Yesterday was the first day of the thurs class. U can join even if they have started, just pay pro-rated. I would say go for trial first, if u like it then decide. The trial is $35, but if u decide to join after that, they will consider that trial as ur first class alr which is $27 per class.

I also enjoy my pre natal yoga very much...work my ass off during yoga class..then I am rewarded by relaxation time...I can't even get that at home..I go during lunch time coz after work need to rush back to be slave for my 2 kids...simply no time..so I am thankful tt I can still do yoga

Hi, I am from the Jan 2013 forum, just delivered my baby girl on Jan 9.

If any of you May girls looking for confinement nanny, I would like to recommend mine. She's from KL, her charges are very reasonable, her cooking is very good and she is very nice and reliable. very experienced and not too old. She was recommended by another friend and she did confinement for my first baby 2 years ago too! Just trying to help her cos she still has an empty slot only for May/June.

PM me, thanks!

I'm tempted to join yoga too.. What are the things we need to bring there? How abt the attire? Thinking of not spending too much on new clothes and shoes .

Good morning mummies!
Went for a scan this morning. Baby is too shy. Keeps closing legs. Dr predicts that it's most likely a girl. ;) have to wait till next month for detailed scan at 22 weeks to confirm.

Zoers.. Attire- just anything that u feel comfy in.. Those 3 quarter or long sport pants is ok.. Top usually I wear a tank top, some wear t-shirt which I think it's quite comfy too. Dun need to specifically get yoga apparel. No need to wear shoe during class. Yoga mat is usually provided, so check with them when u sign up. Inspire mum website says yoga mat are not provided but in fact they do.
U may wish to bring along a towel n a bottle of water.

Maybe u wanna check with them if u can join the classes that have alr started? Some accept students to join in and pay the pro-rated amount.

Ms. E thanks for ur infor.. maybe i would wanna try at ur school too.. coz i find orchard area too packed.. maybe can go tanjong pagar.. hopefully traffic is better.. =)

morning mummies!

Hope ur weekend was a gd one..for me i am feeling so tired today...pray for energy for the week and i'm counting down to Friday!

haha

hi windy, previously u didnt gain any weight right? i thnk shld be ok...now at 5 mths...so 2kg per mth = total gain 10kg by birth?

Sounds ok to me
happy.gif

I am abit worry. Till now i never really gain weight at all.Only gain about 1.5kg in 1st trimester till now.

mabelths: i hope no more than that.. if just 0.5kg per week.. still reasonable.. i lose weight in 1st tri. gain back to normal weight in 16 weeks.. then it from 16 weeks to 20 weeks i gain 2kg. i think in total will be 12kg if it goes up in this pattern.

Thought I was doing ok, put on 1.5 kg during first trimester. But the last few weeks things just shot up! Me too seem to be putting on 0.5kg a week. Total from start till now almost 5kg already!

So envious of you ladies putting on little... Guess if you're eating healthily and baby's fine then it's all good!

Afternoon mummies..

Windy > I know exactly how u feel.. Based on gynae appt 2 wks back (@ 20 wks), I have gained 1.5kg since preg. I have a feeling that I am starting to gain a lot more.. My appetite is coming back and tummy is growing at a tremendous speed. I am afraid to look at my weight tmr during detailed scan haha!

Kome > If you are stilling eating the standard normal meals, I think need not worry? In my last appt, I told my gynae my appetite decrease from 1st appt. She scanned and said baby is still growing fine despite decr in intake.. Also, I feel that the weight will climb up the ladder rapidly once you noticed ur weight has increased..

wy_june
Hope so. Another point which makes me worry also because i still did not feel bb movement at all despite i am already going to reach 21 week.

Kome: I did not put on much weight also, think 1kg only but not worrying because, my previous pregnancy, i also start to gain from second trimestor and by the time in my third trimestor, i think i gain about 10kg.
U can ask your gynae on your baby weight, mine i think on the small side, so i guess cny can put on a lot...mayb third trimestor then eat more durians!!! :p

Lilac
Did asked my gynae last 2 weeks when i went for my check up. He said bb is growing and said that i will only feel bb's movement in 2 weeks time which is around end of this week. Praying hard

Kome: i am sure your bb is doing well. weight gain doesnt determine baby growth i think. So long gynae say is fine i am sure it is. Ytd i hit 20 weeks.. my bb keep poking my stomach. I asked my hb to feel it and he can also feel it too. Now the feeling is so much stronger than b4

windy..dont worry..i tink jus nice..then u will hit the 10kg..i havent even put on weight..in fact i have lost more than 5kg from my pre preg weight n have not put it back on..wonder what my dr will say this fri...shall see..for my prev preg i only started putting on ard 20 wks but then i only lost 2kg then..but now 5kg n its still dropping..sigh

kome..im in the same situation as u..with my first kid..i started feeling kicks at 18wks n v strong ones...now at 20 wks..i barely feel any flutters..im kinda worried especially since my weight gain has been non-existant..sigh...console myself tt im fatter or skin thicker now..or baby more gentle than kor kor

birdbird/windy/Kome: i guess as long as baby is growing well it doesnt really matter how much weight we put on. most imptly is health of baby! of coz try to eat more healthily..even no appetite, try to choose more nutritous food?

for me i'm eating the same as before, except for dinners that i still cant take too much..and i snack quite a bit on cranberries and nuts in between. based on last scan at 4 mths i gained 400g...next detailed scan will be this Fri...but i weigh myself at home i think i shld have gained abt 0.5kg (but dont think my weighing scale is accurate).

but i guess my bump isnt that big yet neither have i seen it growing as rapidly as some of you described..so maybe explains the low weight gain.

Kome/mummync: don't worry..i also cant feel my bb yet...it's my first child and i'm almost 20wks already..sometimes i feel as if my stomach growling..i'm wondering maybe that's my bb's movement? not sure at all actually

just praying that baby is strong and healthy!

On another note, I've been quite fascinated with cloth diapering. Anyone else doing the same? I've just ordered a bulk of Charlie Banana ones and will definitely try them on with my baby (perhaps from 2nd mth on), hopefully we'll like it and it'd be doing a small bit for the earth
happy.gif

Experienced mummies, what's your take on cloth diapering?

birdbird: my sis is very pro-cloth-diapers (becoz she is an environmentalist!) so she got alot of bumwear for her 2 kids.

however i personally think if u are a SAHM it may be a good idea, not so much for working mums unless u have a helper to wash them. It gets soiled rather easily and they can change up to 4/5 a day depending..which means alot of washing :X

however it does help prevent rash/allergies frm developing. so it's gd for babies.

so i guess it really depends
happy.gif

birdbird: my mum is going to use that for my bb but i guess when going out time still have to use diaper. My mum is a pro to toilet train kids.. so she will do that to help me save diaper money and also like what mabelths say.. good for prevent rash.

thansk mabel..been quite lucky all my births..getting what i wish for gender wise..n hoping for healthy baby here on...apparently i am 20th week next week..i also didnt know..so need to go detailed scan before CNY break..

i will cloth diaper wear for the 1 month..i use the old school kind (1 piece of cloth) n a nappy cover so that the urine doesnt wet thru to bedding..coz 1st month the change its so often its scary esp with poo..confirm need to change..u practically see $$ down the drain with disposable diapers...hahaha..my mum very nice to help me with the washing..

after tt i will revert to the conventional kind when the poo is less frequent..just pee only...

i have frens who buy cloth diaper ie charlie banana....n they give up due to the amount of washing required..must have help to do the washin in order to make it work..n also for kids who have gold bums....ie will have rash with disposable diapers..no choice need to use cloth diapers.

I did try to use cloth diaper for my #2, really is too much washing so after my confinement i stop it. This time round i might be engaging a maid to help out so might use back the cloth diaper. If not disposable diaper is really expensive.

Btw, any mummies have try out those cheap type of cloth diaper which the use is the same as bumwear etc?

mabelths...haha i tink coz kome n i are not first pregnancies n its always known tt u feel the subsequent pregnancies earlier esp becoz u also know what it feels like n what to expect..so i guess abit of paranoia...i know of first time mummies who dont feel until mid 20s wks..so dont worry in ur case
happy.gif

Thanks for sharing! Hmm, I plan to do one bulk diaper wash a day so hope that wouldn't be too much hassle (fingers crossed!). Realistically speaking, we'd probably sneak a disposable or two when going out, etc. I did some research on this topic and read that cloth diapered babies are easier to potty-train? I also bought a stash of bio liners so the poops are easier to handle - or NOT handle, haha if u know what I mean :p

jaime/kome: yea...but i am thinking if i can cope..will be my #1 so havent thought of the cost involved yet..haha

mummync: thanks for the reassurance! but still eagerly counting down to Friday for my detailed scan to see my bb...

birdbird: hehe...i guess sneaking in disposable is a gd idea..esp on days when the 'bulk' to wash is alot
happy.gif
think if it's just weewee can still throw into washing machine..but if it's poo must hand-wash!

birdbird..will ur child b going to childcare later or taken care by family member? coz that will be a pt to consider also..coz eventually if go to childcare..will need to be on disposable..definitely if SAHM maybe easier to cope coz can do a bulk diaper wash..that being said also depends on ur time management..i know when i was on confinement..there was not much i cld do except spend time w baby n take care of him. i tink the concept of easier to potty train is becoz they will feel the discomfort..unlike disposable diapers which absorbs the wetness..but i tink they might be more true for kids who r older n thats why some may choose to switch them to training pants to 'feel' the discomfort..but so early on..i dont tink it makes a big diff..coz the child will only be ready to be potty train btw 2.5 to 3 yrs old..

ladies do you know what is the cost of the detailed scan at TMC and if i sign up for FBI, can i entitle to any discount?

mummync: mine is at KKH this fri..i'm nt sure how much it would cost at KKH though..haha

btw, after your detailed scan what will the doc at KKH say? i'm only visiting my gynae the following week on 8 Feb for review.

thanks!

mabelths: someone mentioned is $130++ for KKH detailed scan in FB.

i going for mine on this wed and review next thur. Cant wait man.!

hmmm mine was paid up together w my oscars alrdy..i tink they charged me ard 400+ for both..so on fri i dont hafta pay anymore..yes with FBI got discount..u jus present the card...

at TMC they will run thru its part or organ that they scan..n take scan shots of everything...then roughly tell u if everything looks fine..something depends on the sonographer also..some more chatty..some less...im visiting my gynae on the same day..so if i dont rem wrongly..they will print out the report for u to take w u for the review...n it will haf all the various measurement n which percentile ur baby falls under for each measurement such as leg length, height etc etc...

Hi Mummies,

I've a bizarre question to ask..
This morning I placed my hand on my tummy. I felt the pulse like a heartbeat as per normal. Suddenly, I felt a strong beat in between the pulse beat.. Is that a kick?
