Can I check, based on Chinese custom, is it a must to give out the one-month gifts within the first month itself? Can be after confinement?

Aiyoh, nurse woke me up to bf but bb zzz off after latching for 3 mins.... Now I am wide awake.

Fazzy: I think can be slightly after, but it also depends on how strict / traditional the family is. Some old folks are very particular about celebrating within the one month, especially for bb boys etc...

Freesia, thank you. It's actually gifts for my colleagues. I thought of personally going down to deliver them and was wondering if its ok to do so after confinement.

Anyway, it's pretty normal that babies doze off very soon after latching. these few days old babies dont drink much also. I chose to put baby in nursery from midnight to six am when I was in hospital, to ensure sufficient rest at night. I believe we can catch up with the breastfeeding in day time still. But it's really up to individuals' preference.

Here's wishing u and all other mummies who just popped a smooth recovery!

Whiteclover: the nurses will push the bb to you every 3-4 hours if you tell them you are total breastfeeding.... I am going to wash my hair today! Heheh!

Life is always about making choices and stand affirm to one's choice and the challenges that comes with it isn't it?

Like when I choose to marry my hubby (who is 10 yrs older than me) my parents never ever raise any objection, but merely told me, be it for better or for worse, it's my own choice and I've learn to live with it.

I missed my time as a SAHM. The bonding period, own time own target, don't have to stress about rushing to work, sometime still can put bb in stroller and sit at coffeeshop, slowly enjoying my breaky while see other rushing to catch bus wakaka.
Most importantly, don't even need to stress about bottle feed

as well as matching those cc & ml of bm to keep up with supply. Baby hungry, just lift up my shirt and pop neh neh into baby's mouth.

When we were surviving with only 1 income with a family of 4, we spend within our mean, bring kids to playground which does cost money, borrow books from library every month instead of buying, cook all meals at home (except for occassion like wedding anni) and stocked toiletries when there is offer, learn craft from internet so that can entertain kids etc.

Forgot to mention that I love your CL to bits. She sounds so pro and hardworking. Think add up all my 3 confinment, it wasn't even half as good as yours.

It should be ok to distribute cake after your confinment. In fact, I'm doing it after my bb's full month. We will be celebrating bb's full month this sat with simply prayer ceremony in the family.

Will be order cakes from sweetest moments and distributing it on 31 Jan. Will bring baby back to office and distribute to thanks bosses and colleagues for all their gifts.

freesia and whiteclover: i am thinking whether to go for the class too... a bit lazy to move though..

anyway have started the bf trying journey, currently taking motilium and moremilkplus 3 times daily.. no milk on day 2, a few drops of colostrum when i squeezed.. baby latching ok, but sometimes i see him v frustrated sucking air.. i pump for 10 mins after latching too (pump air)..nipps quite sore after all these, applied mustela nipp cream after pumping each time..

anw, also supplement FM 25-30ml after latching as baby is hunry.. dont wanna encounter similar issue the last time my no.1 was dehydrated with no milk pure latching and my milk only came on day 5.. she was hospitalized for 5 days the last time..

mummies bfing.. jiayou!!! and to mummies still waiting to pop, enjoy the last few days of 'me' time and smooth delivery!

I can't remember which package I chose last time but definitely not many choices then. This round I probably will go for their Classic Wonders. Another one to consider is Choz. But somehow I still prefer sweetest moments packaging.

Yes, we are entitled to the increased baby bonus cash gift coz is effective from 26 Aug 2012!

"Those with Singapore citizen babies born on or after Aug 26 last year will get $6,000 as a baby bonus cash gift, up from $4,000 before. This applies to the first and second child.
For the third and fourth child, the cash gift will increase to $8,000 from $6,000."

FYI I was at KKH last Friday wanting to open the CDA account but was told that the new baby bonus package and forms will be sent down only some time this week, sonwe will need to use the new forms for our applications I think. Do check w the counters coz they were also not sure as forms hv not arrived yet.

Congrats to mummies who have popped..

Last Sat i went for my Week 37 check, my baby gained 600g within a week!! at this rate, my gynae wont allow me to go for natural liao, plus baby head turned downwards, but haven engaged yet, so he prefer me to go for csect instead of vbac cos might have a difficult time delivering. anyway i din change my diet leh. just eating as per normal, dunno how come was up 200g for the past 2 weeks, then now suddenly 600g to the scanned weight of 3.5kg!! gynae re-scanned and it was still ard 3.3-3.4kg. lol! my #1 was 2.97kg when he was born! now suddenly didi gained so much within a week.
so will monitor on this Sat.. if more than 3.5kg, then i will be going for csect next monday 28jan liao.. haha..

baby bonus up of 2k still cannot keep up with inflation rates leh.. haha.. CC still as expensive. and bleh! paternity leave only for may2013.

Oh i didn't know fish oil is good for bf... I have been taking for omega 3 since during pregnancy (wild salmon oil). I just want to share that I bought mine from a USA website (iHerb) which a friend introduced, which is a lot cheaper than buying from shops here.

Tried my first avocado last night... I like it! Taste like coconut flesh... (I feel like mountain turtle!)

I have been in labour ward since 4.30am this morning after starting to feel contractions + heartburn ard 1/2 am.. No broken water bag, no show...

After enduring for 12 hours, I succumb to epi... Only 8cm now and still waiting...

On one hand, I am worried that I don't even have colostrum at the end of day 3. Yet, I want to be as natural as possible for baby.

White clover: I had domperidone for a few days too.. My colostrum came late.. And milk even later.. Dun worry abt it.. Just need to caution on the drugs.. Make sure u do the massage and clear ducts otherwise the drugs can lead to engorgement easily.. Domperidone dupposedly work ESP when initiated early of breastfeeding.. I took for abt 10days den went off it... Trying to maintain supply by creating demand for it since then and taking fenugreek.
