Baby girl has ben sleeping most of today. Refused to latch nor suck. Initially from having some colostrum to none.

After advised by lactation consultant, now trying to use pump to simulate the flow back. Hopefully can get the supply coming in.

Sigh.
 
Hi chloe_mummy, don't feel so disheartened.. Most importantly is not to feel stressed.. Milk supply will come naturally.. Don't worry.. Rest well, eat well and drink more fluids.. Massage the breasts often will also stimulate supply.. Jiayou!

I actually cut my carbo by half since 1st tri but every 3 wks increase by 2kg. Now is every wk 1 kg......

gynae worry too big to deliver, if like #1, is long n slim, then maybe still can deliver.

then nag to cut carbo by half... but I already cut. &amp; sometimes instead of breakfast &amp; lunch, i took brunch or just soup without rice for lunch to cut the carbo so that if in the night hungry, can still eat tou hua or biscuit.

Hope can still natural deliver.

&amp; a must to do my counting properly nw as gynae worry anything might happ, so I doing counting with counter more carefully.

newborn sleeps alot during 1st few days, just try to feed. they will cry when hungry. or maybe nurse fed bb in nursery room too
 
My birth story

1 jan admitted at 5.30 am to induce. 6am inserted first tablet. At 3.45 pm inserted 2nd tablet . Starting from 5 plus pm start having mild contraction but 1 cm dilated

2 jan 4 am inserted 3 rd tablet...was strapped to machine on n off to check bb heart beat and contraction

2 jan was still waiting for contraction and dilation. Doc wants to put 4 th tablet in late evening , check dilation at 6 pm and was
3 cm dilated. Brought to labour ward and doc break water bag.

Contraction gets more intense and doc does not allow me to use injection in thigh. I refused epidural and only rely on laughing gas, contractions are painful... Almost unbearable but finally around 1 am it was 8cm dilated and got urge to push.
Gynae appear on 1.45 am asking me to push and bb arrived. Heard gynae says placenta is around 8 kg, she sew my stitches and went off... Super tired after that

Glad bb is not oversized , 3.43 kg at 38 weeks, if wait till full term then it will be even tougher for me

Now I can happily wait for #3 to arrive.. No fear for her weight issue. In fact the gynae and me both exclaim together, "ok can come out already. Enough weigh lah"..

Our greatest concern too. I'm only fortunate coz both of mine are older and more independent.

I'm really only worried about night delivery, my neighbours offered to help but not nice to impose on them at night during school term.

So now, Plan A is to bring to in laws' place but they live really out of the way. Plan B is this, they will stay in bed and wait for my fil to come in a taxi to look after them for the night. My fil will go to the ends of the world for my two, though my mil is unwilling :D

My two shower themselves in the morning, and serve themselves breakfast - bread, cheese, cereal, milk, fruits... (their duty daily)...Then fil can bring them back to his place. But that's just p.l.a.n.... I have to pray hard everything works out fine.

But we are hoping we can deliver after Sun. Hb works weekends else lugi his off days

I have a friend whose bb was not engaged (engaged and disengaged a few times). But she did hypnobirthing (relaxation technique)... And managed a normal delivery (think she was with Paul tseng??).. You might want to check that out?

Waahh a lot of you ladies managed it, great job! I think posting those stories online and reading about them helped? Wish I had had the courage to do without....but...knowing me, very unlikely!

Now is day 6 for me and baby. I have yet to start postnatal massage, massage lady can only slot me in 9 days after natural delivery. Hope I can still eliminate most of the water retention and whatever else to slim down!
 
Serene and junior: not deliver yet, but doc comment may come next week! the wards are pack when I visit last month! But they still managed to show us 1 single room. The tour nurse told us raffles do not provide breast pump, so while wondering if we need to bring our own, it seems troublesome. So decide to play by the ear. Confinement menu looks like not bad too. I was told the mid-wife will come and teach u bf in single wards if they had time, but u r encourage to stay an extra day to book a lactation specialist to learn. Did u hear the same? Wow it is ex !

Abt herbs, my CL send me a super long list to buy, and the person at the medical hall comment that it had additional items in it but a good blend as it neutralize if it gets too heaty. I only spent $500 bucks as only buy single pack of the cordecepys and pow Seng. If need more by then, then ask hubby go buy later...

Hi angeliqueous, usually the lactation nurse will advise the mummy to let the newborn latch on after delivery instead of using pump.. This will stimulate supply easier.. Pump is needed if u r going to stay in the hospital for a number of days and u will miss the critical period of the 1st 5 days as well as baby refuses or can't latch on..

I'm told to get a pump in the hospital cos I could not carry my baby due to my high blood pressure. I stayed in the hospital for 4 days.. Hence, baby has not a chance to latch on..
 
Hi mummies!!

Been following the thread but seldom post... Happy to share that I have delivered my #2 on 2 Jan which is 3 weeks before edd...

Suppose to have routine checkup on 2 jan, Gynae saw cramps on my tummy and am already 1-2 cm dilated the week before so he decide to hook me up on ctg... Signs of contraction are capture and he decide to drive me and another 2 mummies from his clinic to tmc... Gynae advise to do a thorough check in tmc for safety.... All beds are full in the delivery suit and left to wait at the lift lobby.... Finally got into a small room for ctg and was on it for 2 hours with regular contractions captured... Mad rush for hub to settle #1 at mum Plc before chionging down with the bag n docs... Gynae VE at 9.30pm 3-4cm dilated with slight show and he decide to break water bag for labour... After 2 hours of pain, bb arrived at 2334... What a eventful day!! Didn't eat or drink anything since lunch at 1.30pm till delivered, freaking hungry and thirsty!! Didn't manage to bath n washed hair... Everything just happen too fast n furious...

Hi, need to get advice from mummy that just delivered. Do u feel any pain over V before delivered. Cause now feel quite discomfort. Also having pain over lower part of the abdomen on and off this few days. But is not regular.
 
haven't had a chance to share my birth story. edd spose to be 1 jan but bb couldnt wait and i guess he wanted to be born on the same bday as his daddy and so he arrived on xmas day. started feeling some contraction at 2am, the freq became more intense from 7am onwards and decided to call my gynae who asked me to be admitted which already saw me 4cm dilated.
waited till abt 6+pm to be fully dilated and bb arrived safely with the help of my gynae!!

still trying to adjust to motherhood life.. very tiring indeed. thankful for the malay massage lady too... she's really good in giving me advise and clearing my engorgement!

now going to plan for bb's full month party. can mummies provide me with some recommendations for customised cupcakes? thanks!!

Piggy_mum - yup very drama for my birth this time... I felt so unprepared even thou I'm a 2nd time mum as everything happen too fast...

TMC is really packed, delivery suite like war zone... Practically one in one out... Heard the nurses recalling staff back on their off days... I delivered at 11pm plus and the mid-wife haven't had her dinner yet...
 
Re: supplements

hi mummies, my supplements are running low. was wondering should i continue to buy another lot (which is 100 tablets and last me for another 3 mths).. but my etd is end of the mth.

was wondering did anyone continue to consume the supplements straight till delivery and even after or?
 
sunny > what kind of supplements are you referring to? For my fish oil, I am to continue even after delivery, in fact for as long as i am breastfeeding.

Do the pains feel like mild period pains? Shd be the uterus contracting. It's a good thing if it is! Either your gynae or the Attending nurse shd check on you regarding this.
 
Random: Went toilet and noted thick gluey (with thinny whinny steak of blood) discharge. Is it the mucus plug and/or show? Do I need to call gynae to verify?
 
ctrus > think that is the mucus plug or 'show'. which means, labour might start soon for u.. might be these few days or even in one week's time! time to get ready all ur stuffs ;)

sunny: I continued with fish oil &amp; calcium for as long as I am breastfeeding. Calcium requirements during lactation is 1,200mg per day. I get some of these nutrients from antenatal milk.

Mummies who deliver natural - do you have episiotomy (surgical cut in the perineum, the muscular area between the vagina and the back passage) ?

Mine already more than 8 days (delivered on 27 Dec) but the stitches area still very pain. Yesterday I started to do research about this and only realized that we can actually avoid this if we mentioned to our doctor. I didn't know it, else I might want to talk to my doctor first before he did it.

Today will try some tips from baby center to ease the pain :
- Place a cooled gel pad, ice-pack (or packet of frozen peas!) on your stitches. The ice will numb the area and prevent or reduce swelling. "Cold therapy" has long been considered a safe way of reducing the pain of bruised tissues.
- Try to expose your stitches to the air. Take your knickers off and rest on your bed with an old towel underneath you for ten minutes or so once or twice a day.
- Walk around as much as possible and practise your pelvic floor muscle exercises to stimulate circulation and speed healing.

Hi sunny, yes, I am still taking my prenatal supplements after delivery till now cos I'm trying to give the baby BM.. The nurses also said the supplements are good and can continue after birth..

@LM, I'm very ks.. Started the massage 2nd day after discharge.. :p total of 10 sessions.. Still got 2 sessions left.. Haha

Yesterday my bb turned 1 week old ~ I decided to keep track the weekly progress then make a photobook album for her when she turned 2 or 3 months old ... So every week have to take some pics of bb, I saw some blog from US really made a nice tracker of their bb ...

Previously got ppl asked about photobook singapore vs photobookmart - they are actually different companies. I was a album designer, so have used both of them before. Photobookmart has better quality as compared to photobook singapore especially the binding part but photobook singapore always have promotion .. I also used album stories before, it has even better quality compared to photobookmart but a little more expensive ... so far have printed for more than 20 albums.
