HAPPY V-DAY to all mummies....

cac> I read that slight abdominal pain is normal as intestines are shifting... however, if it persist, then better seek clarifications from gynae.

Here's the abstract I have, see if the same pain?:

In your 15th week of pregnancy, your uterus is halfway between your pubic bone and belly button. You may feel Braxton Hicks contractions. These painless and random contractions can be thought of as your body warming up for the big event of birth. If you have more than five per hour, if they come at a steady pace, or if they're accompanied by intense cramps or backaches, call the doctor.

Happy V day all mummies!!!

Been feeling down this morning....Any ideas for what job I can take that can just work 8am - 1pm daily???

Hi mummies, can let me rant a bit here as I was pretty upset over the weekends?

I went for my OSCAR test 2 saturdays ago and was drawn 1 vial of blood only to my surprise. I asked the nurse why only 1 vial as all my friend were drawn as least 3? She was quite rude and only answered "no one only" and did not explain further.

Went back to gynae last week, was informed to take other form of blood test such as HIV, Hep B, rebella from other GP/ polyclinic. He gave me a referral letter. After some thoughts, I asked the nurse the next day why can't I do all tests at TMC or clinic? she explained it'll be more exp. The blood test will cost abt $90+ there. (actually I dun mind paying) but they weren't keen to do the test for me.

I asked a GP, it will cost me $83+GST and that exclude consultation fees! which works to $100+. So last Sat, I went to polyclinic. Already informed the counter admin staff what I want, she say must Q for doc, after 2hrs of waiting, polyclinic doc did not even bother to look at me, and tell me to go another dept for lab tests.

At the counter to reg for lab, the nurse there tell me they cannot do any tests for HIV!! I'm damn pissed. should have told me earlier isn't it?

I'm more angry why my gynae made me go round and round... So far, all the mummies I've asked does all their tests at the clinic. I really dun understand why am I going thru all these trouble...

Anyone experienced black stool? I was shock to c my stool black! Went online to search for info, but cant fin specific answer. Anyone knows why?

cac: me too! whole day yesterday... i'll be 15 weeks tmr. how many weeks are you? feels a bit sore when i press on my abdomen. was worried for entire day...

elmo,

You want to work part time? Try call centre or cashier job...then maybe once you give birth, you can go back to your office job. I am also working half day...3x a week. I am now under work from home scheme but my boss wants me to go back. My side got ppl resign so no enuff hands. If I go back to work, I sure OT everyday. *scary*

babysee,

why your gynae clinic cannot do everything at 1 go. Very ma-fan to go polyclinic then to gynae clinic...I agree with you the nurse is rude..dun care about her lah...Just be happy today ok, V day lehhhh..... Must be happy for your baby, and your hubby mah...My ah lao...dunno got buy present for me or not..I ask him what he is getting for me, you know what he said? I gave you the best present already....neh...*point my tummy*...nei nei, right!!

Patricia and changni,

I know why we got black stools!!!! Cos we eat vitamins....my mum said that if vitamins got "pu xue" one then our stools will be black. Mine also black.....scary hor...usually brown, now so black..

PiPi> haiz... duno why they can't do everything at one go... spoil my mood. Called the nurse and tell her I was made to wait 2 hrs for nothing! then she says if I really want to do it at the gynae's place, can do so at next appt... which is 2.5wks later loh...

I'm 14.5wks now. My stools are also black and small... I think I'm starting to have constipation problem leh...

okie! listen to u and try to be happy for V day... yeah... But no celebrations. Hb and I are boring people. We love to just stay at home watch TV. hee...

Changni> I missed the part u were singing. I was telling hb I'm still waiting for the Theresa Teng singing and he tell me u sang already!! argh.. I was at the kitchen cooking... Hope there's repeat telecast. Hb told me u sang beautifully and totally like Theresa Teng! [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

RE: OSCAR Test

I opt not to take the test either. My Gynae also said not necessary, cause I'm still below 35 yrs old, and had my #1 less than 2 yrs ago, with very low risk.

RE: Headache

For my #1, I had a bad headache/dizzy for about 2 months. Gynae said my urine test and blood pressure is fine. So this migraine/dizziness, is just one of the side effect of pregnancy for me. If needed, can take Panadol, but I didn't eat medicine. Now I also have the same dizziness.

RE: Morning sickness

Now I'm at week 16 but still have MS. Not as bad though. There are some days with no MS, then suddenly can MS at least twice a day.

Shane & Caramelle, I also feel so tired for this #2 pregnancy. Should be due to taking care of #1. I also try not to carry #1 so much. Except last week, she had fever and flu so I carried her more. Luckily, hubby is the active father type...do help out more in taking care of toddler at nights.

CHANGNI,

I was at my in-laws place yesterday. When you started singing, I was so proud leh..i say yah yah this one my friend lah, she singing...then i told them you also pregnant like me. They say your singing very power, I also think very power leh, really like Theresa Teng....

Happy V-Day to all...

Is it a must to do the blood test for the 12 week DS scan? Cos I went for mine last friday, then I realised that my gynae did not include the blood test for me. So I only did the NT scan.

>>changni: I managed to catch you on Chingay on TV, and you sing so beautifully!!! And you are a pretty mum too!

>>babysee: i think if i were you, i would have flared up at the nurse on the spot...wait for 2 hours for nothing with rude services...i cannot tahan!

sakura/cp20/ellmo: oh dear.. u gers are making me feel so guilty.. I have headaches and pop panadol and ibuprofen all the time.. and its not like they really help either.. do pray my baby will ok.. but I always ask my gynae and he always assure me those medicines are perfectly safe.. no problem.

PiPi: so whats y we have black pebbles for poo? no wonder! Im also having constipation.. poo every 2-3 days.. that day so painful!

babysee: u so poor thing.. Im not surprised you are fuming.. somemore you are preggy.. ur gynae so funny.. I also TMC and they made me do all the blood tests there leh.. I was charged about 100+ at my gynae

hahaa thanks Pipi, coral and babysee... got repeat telecast next week.. i dono sat or sun tho... afternoon or evening cant remember..

I've always loved loved Teresa Teng... maybe cos my parents alwys listen to oldies.. so i also love hokkien songs.. hb calls me an aunty lol

but i looked so round on tv... my frens were saying can see my tummy n round face alreadyyy....

babysee: funny they wd send u to polyclinic.. esp they r private. some more being preggy i've been so cranky lately, i would have flared up too at the staff too..

Sus:

My "sai" is long and black...also 2-3days once despite me eating lottsa fruits. (pear, orange, buah chiku, dragon fruit, etc etc)

I think if poo is pebbles-like(like ah balling)...means heaty.

changni >

me in mid 14 weeks only..these few days occasionally i will feel sore on my tummy.. like too big to contain kind of feeling...thou my tummy is still not very big.. mayb cos it's my first preggy..

poo

ah.. mine also black pebbles leh... sometimes the pebbles stick together (sorry abit disgusting)... become corn.... hahahha... XP

ellmo,caramelle:

Yes the oscar test was to test for down syndrome. My gunae was telling me that the risk is not as high since I delivered a healthy bb one and a half yr back. But he did suggest that it's still up to me to decide if I wanna opt for the test.

Coz my hubby and myself had decided to accept what was given to us by God,so I decided not to go for the test.

BeFabulouslyPositive

I love Teresa Teng songs too as well!!!But I can't sing well[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

Any mummies feel nausea(MS) and once some light food eaten,u will feel better?

changni> no loh... and i'm so jealous... I told my hb u are my "MTB fren" and asked if u've got the baby bump.. he say totally cannot see leh... heee... he praised u are pretty too [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

changni/coralpip> i'm really so fed up with the polyclinic nurse. So I told her why I'm unhappy! not that becoz they do not provide this HIV testing service, but why didnt the admin staff/nurse tell me from the start!! worst of all, their own doc doesn't know and referred me to lab services... really pissed. Yes, my mood went damn bad that day... Hb was unhappy but he was quiet. I was the one who told the nurse off (not scold but feedback). ya... too bad lah... preg crankly liao.. hee...

Next I'm kinda pissed with my gynae too.. why couldn't he just take my blood test? I thought i'll be poke once during the OSCAR test, will be poked again soon... apparently this bloodtest is compulsory by MOH. arghh... I wana scream at them!

My gynae's under TMC... after gg OSCAR at TMC itself, I decided to go Mt A... very rude and bo chap attitude they have.

babysee,

some gynae got 2 clinics..if the TMC nurses are so bad in service, then go to the other clinic lor. dun be unhappy and affect "tai-qi". I know it's frustrating...if it's me and hubby, he will really scream at the nurses very loudly one.

The other time I went KK to seek advice from one of their famous doc, when I trying to conceive. We were the earliest, then the nurse told him to be prepared to wait for at least 2 hrs...my hubby looked at her and said," WHAT! 2 hrs...It's 9am now...shouldn't I be the first in the Q? This is ridiculous!" You know hor, I soooo pai say....Then I told my hubby not to be like that cos we need help from doc, not the other way round. My one diff case from you, but just trying to tell you my hubby is the type that will scream at the nurses type. (so sometimes I oso scared to bring him cos he piss off the nurse, I die leh...not he die leh...)

PiPi,

Not sure think my gynae has only one clinic (out of TMC), but a very neighbourhood kind and his own nurses ok ok...like to help patients save money... Which for this case, I dun appreciate at all.. I need to do my OSCAR at TMC hospital itself... so when I went TMC for the 1st time, didnt quite like the attitude from some nurses, esp the one who drew my blood. She sound very rude. The sonographer like want to chop chop settle everything... I was the one who tell her to slow down.. haaa... coz in my heart was thinking, I paid $300+ wor... why they made the service felt like $30 instead?

haaa... ur hb is good leh.. can speak up. My hb is normally quiet one... but if one can make him real angry, that person damn jia lat!

cac: we're around the same time... ya the soreness' been there for some time. i'm a first-time mum too so dono what to expect... that's y so worried. feel like bringing forward my scan cos my next appt is 26 feb.. like so long! the scans always make me happy n reassured seeing bb kicking and playing hehe

sus: jus found out wanbao put my video up at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qL8wK2hnGiY

:D

babysee: haha my hb too, he usually keeps quiet.. but when he flares up... wooh/ haha

babysee

If you are not happy with your gynae, better to change. It's going to be a 9 month long relationship & he/she is going to handle your birth, better be someone you like & is comfortable with. You are right, they should not make you go to so many places for tests & make you wait so long. I remember during my #1, I had to go for a few scans due to my high risk for the oscar test. The nurse arranged me to go back to the hospital like 2 days in a row. When my gynae saw my appointments, she immediately called & made them scan for me so that I need not come back again the next day. I felt so touched, she really cared about my welfare & felt that I should not be made to come back so many times.

shrrl

Me! When I feel nauseous, it means I have not eaten. When I eat something, my MS goes away.

Mei, did the same thing too. Am eating just to keep MS away. And it's got to be hi-carb too. I'm going to put on sooo much weight.

Shint and Cutie - good luck with the amnio test. Dont worry too much. I did it with my #1. Back then, his risk was 1:49. Frankly, I freaked out then. But he turned out quite alrite.

Babysee - sorry to hear abt your experience at TMC. I agree it's a lot of inconvenience and also discomfort esp during the 1st tri. I wouldn've thot the gynae will recommend taking the tests together, which is what my KKH dr did.

Cravings? I eat almost everything but after that, I must brush my teeth to wash away the taste in my mouth. Otherwise, a funny taste will set in which start the puking. Funnily and most embarrassingly, I also like the smell of joss sticks etc Yikes!!

Aello all.... just did my 13th/14th wk scan yesterday too ...so shocked to see bb grow so much bigger n clearer ...

doc also draw 2 vial of blood (1 big 1 small) ..say send for many test cos i'm 32 le ...but he didnt tell me what tests ..then nvr mention any Oscar also .. so confusing ...anyway i'm with this gynae quite long le so just trust what he say ba ... paid $185 n pray hard they dun call me tis wk ...

changni >

so good, my next visit will be in early mar... still a long wait... but on and off, i feel abit of "tapping-like" feeling in my tummy.. i suspect is baby moving inside.. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] i hope it is.. cos i've never see my baby move during scans.. either baby sleeping or simply bo chup.. hahahah

mei> so far gynae ok... just this incident that made me really pissed off... I'm the lazy kind and simply chose a gynae nearest to my home (walking distance) haa... kind of lazy to travel far to see gynae. fingers cross that's the end of my frustrations!

hmm... anyone already felt baby moving? I'm first time mum and looking forward to the experience! Last night, while sleeping, I turned my body after few hrs of same position and suddenly felt something inside moving. It's as if there's a waterball inside and the water is moving...then got the thud thud thud feeling again... maybe it's my bladder.. haa.. thinking too much at this stage.

good afternoon mummies [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

caca, juz sms-ed u abt prenatal yoga... sorry, was busy with work over the weekend -- finally finished the meeting with customer *phew*

changni, i heard the last part of ur song (very nice) -- but my #1 was distracting me... will check out the video tonite [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

hi-5 to mtbs still having MS... i m puking after every meals -- left me so drained... no appetite to eat at all but have to eat else puke more... let's all jia you and hope MS will be over soon!

babysee,

I am also first time mum. I sleep on my side at night, but will always flip from left to right, then right to left...i cannot sleep on my back straight. Like you, I feel a waterbag inside moving...but I dun have thud thud thud sound. Maybe yours boy? Anyway I read from babycentre that if you are skinny, you tend to feel your baby ard wk 14.

I am at wk 15 d1 today...my tummy feel v bloated when I stand up...not sure if anyone have the same feeling like me...tried to lie down..but got a waterbag moving inside type of feeling.

btw, are you guys still urinating like 2-3 times every nite? cos I am! And I am wondering if that is normal.

Hi all mothers to be, I am new to this forum and would like go join in your chat , may I ?

Hope to learn more things and make new friends with all of you..

PiPi> I prefer to sleep on my back, then turn to left coz I read it's no good to sleep on right, which adds pressure to your heart. heee... the thud thud thud is a feeling only... not a sound yet. Duno why at that moment suddenly think if it is bb adjusting and kicking him/herself.

I heard that it's normal to pee more as bb is pressing again the bladder. my no. of pees are still the same, but I do wake up around 5am to pee... then for past few weeks cannot sleep as soundly as before which makes me more tired during the day. Maybe my body is preparing me for the sleepness nights after bb is born... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

This morning, I told hb abt my extra feeling last nite, and I said maybe it's just my intestines saying:"aiyoh... got bb, make way make way... " "excuse me"... haaa... we both had a good laugh.

cac/bbsee: i'm worried leh.. u all already feel something, but i don't seem to have felt anythign leh - is it too early? it's my first too... tts y so so paranoid..

i always see baby moving, playing with hands n kicking during scans...

hi adv, thx! [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

hi n welcome lin!

yupyup i'm also waking up at night to pee... usually 3am n 6am.. n i had like bit of tailbone/lower back pain whole of yesterday, together with the cramp on the left abdomen..

shrrl.... Thanks for the explanation. I didnt do Oscar for #1 too, so this time round decided not to. Shall trust in the Lord!

sus..Dun worry, and no need to feel guilty. You are jus following ur gynae's advice. If you want to play safe, just reduce taking these med from now on. For me, as far as possible I try not to take med. But sometimes no choice.

Pipi...Wow! u working 3x a week half day! Tats great! Which line are u in? I need to finish this yr cos I want my PAID maternity leave..haha.

Hi changni thanks

My edd should be aug 17 but as for gynae haven decide yet but most probably will try out raffles hospital as most of my cousins recommend me there. But I find the charges quite expensive .

changni> no worries at all... Actually I think I am the one thinking to far already...If am not wrong, 1st time mum would only feel the baby's movements in 4-5th mth. Am just curious why I felt a waterbag inside rolling. Wished I can have scan machine at home and see bb every nite... always look forward to scan and have little surprises.

ellmo,

how long must we work with company in order to qualify for paid maternity leave? I am with my company for 2 yrs le.

I work half day means I am paid very little per mth lah. I think I am taking back less than $500 per mth leh. My boss wants me to go back cos got ppl resign (end Mar last day) but I don't think I can do full 9-6pm.

ellmo,

No problem.same as u,i didnt do the Oscar test as well for #1,so for #2,im not doing it as well.

Pipi,

The need to pee in the middle of the night since yesterday. In fact is 2 to 3 times.I guess the bb is pressing our blender.

2nd or 3rd time mummies,do u guys sign up for any cord blood banking for #2/#3?

Coz I signed up for #1,not sure if its neccessary to sign up for #2?[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

changni > actually i dun even know whether the feeling is baby moving or wat cos sometimes it feels like bubbles "prud, prud"... don't worry.. mayb cos i very skinny tat's y.. i'm very underweight kind...

shrrl > i'm first time mummy and i'm thinking of donating cord blood instead of storing leh... dun really know if it is useful to store cord blood... also wanna hear what other mummies say [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Would like to check with u all,is it ok to continue with my facial treatment? Feeling giddy and moody I was considering whether to leave my job but really don't wish to give up my maternity benefits . Recently can't sleep well my stomach is itching applied moisturizer already but can't much . V frustrating .

Hey mummies, may I know which stretch cream that is sold in watsons/ guardian is good? I am currently only using crabtree and evelyn lotion and have not started on any bb cream yet.

shrrl (shrrl09): I tend to go to toilet in the middle of the night too.. sometimes twice a time. Duno is water retention or bb pressing my bladder.

babysee (babysee): same here! When will technology advance till that stage? My mom told me that she has never been through any scans before.

Any mummies still feel tired out there? I feel exceptionally tired and can't wake up for work in the morning. sianz

Re:Bb pressing the bladder

I guess many of us are facing this problem.

Cac,

Actually i stored the cord blood for #1,not too sure if wanna store for #2.Coz seems like not needed.Like what u said, hear what are other mummies have to say.[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Cac> didnt know we can donate the cod blood. would be meaningful. I'm in dilemma to store cord blood. Quite a high cost to maintain... at the same time worried wat if I didnt do enough for my child....

I am using Elancyl stretchmark prevention cream. it's selling 2 for $47.30 at TMC pharmacy... can't believe I've used almost half a bottle within 3 wks. coz skin very tight and that reminds me to apply everytime after bath.

babysee, i also donated my son's cord blood... they will do a short interview with u before the edd like family history etc... reason i donated is cos i believe that there are someone out der who might really need it and 2nd cos of the high cost as well...

good morning mtbs [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

mummies who hv pm me abt prenatal yoga, i hv left my hp at home today... will contact u tonite/tomorrow...

re: baby movement

i will feel it when i lie flat on my back -- think bb protests as he/she has less room to move ard *haha*

for first time mummies, dun worry -- u will feel baby's movement soon [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] during my #1, i only can feel it ard 16 weeks...

re: toilet visits @ nite

me, too! super disruptive to my sleep... yes, baby is growing n pressing on the bladder...

re: cord blood storing

i signed up for 21 yr with cordlife(the storage pl is opp my office) for my #1 (there was a CNY promo at that time)... will do the same for #2...

u can donate to the Singapore Cord Blood Bank -- but u will not hv the priority to use the cord blood *touch wood* should u need it...

babysee,

u r so hardworking. i also bought Elancyl stretchmark prevention cream fr TMC. so far bought 3 weeks only used 3 times!

changni,

i listened to ur singing on youtube. u sang so well! so touching!

New Members, pls pm me with ur EDD/Gynae/Hosp. :p

Carole

hi joan, if u like the smell of joss sticks u probably like the comforting smell of sandalwood.. can buy the essential oil and sniff when u feel pukey?

mrt trains now are so smelly after work i will feel like puking if near someone with bad BO.

i also get pain at the tailbone lower back there! suspect its due to sitting posture.. i think must be mindful to sit upright...

having headache these few days... but i think drinking lots of water helps.. camomile tea also helps me.. it has no caffeeine
