(2011/01) Jan 2011

check with some of my colics, frens they also use Avent pump but fail so their advise are use Electic pump to increase the milk flow than after milk supply is in than we can usa manual pump. Hope my can work this time round as i have both now Freestyle and Avent Manual Pump.

Daphne, i think you are good [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] mayb you hav good genes for milk ;)

chabby.. i still got more than just SOWs to clear.. got extra lessons etc to clear, work review (bleah), CCA stuff etc.. flu finally cleared.. but food allergy still stubbornly refuses to go away quickly..

hoshi.. when u use the US import set did u encounter any problems? i planning to get US import set from a local website that i saw at S$399 without the adaptor..

so which better? PIS or freestyle?

i read that PIS has better suction/motor power but it's heavier.

i haven't buy my BP yet. deciding between buying from Lengleng's BP spree or buy a local from KKH first few years. they advertise in straits time last friday. freestyle: $699, PIS: $549.

local set more ex but if need repair it'll be easier. if buy from Lengleng, breakdown need to ship over to USA for repair. repair locally will have to pay on top of that.

how? which shld i pick?

does medela break down quite easily? Any MTB can share on this?

pinky,

extra lesson for sec 3?? i got EPMS to update and submit to RO will do. CCA stuff (budget, coach) almost clear le. trying to feign ignorance on the CCA 30 week plan. hope can run away w/o having to write that. bleah!

Hi Cookiefleur,

Can you help me to amend my order for the Bravado nursing bras?

I'd like to change the Original Nursing Bra in Black to the Allure Underwire Nursing Bra in Ivory for size 38D

And I am opting for 2 x FOC Breast pads and 2 x $2 off.

Thanks!

Thanks Chabby and Bethel for the seahorse links!

breastpump> I'm going to be getting the Medela PIS adv too. Hopefully it'll be a good investment.

Chabby, your price from KKH is really a good deal cos the list price for PIS Adv is $754 wor! My friend say she can get for me at $659 cos she's a member with BMSG, i thought its already very good deal.

Pinky J and Chabby, actually I also worried about the warranty, and rather not risk it, so I think will get a local set.

Mummies looking for cot> Mothercare having cot sale (rare!) but not all models. Quite a few of them having $100-$150 off. I got mine today, originally was $350, paid $250, so almost 30% discount. Plus it comes with free delivery and installation. I think after discount its really good price. =)

Apologies... My order

body silk seamless nursing bra - ivory color - s

The bliss nursing bra - black - 34b/c

The original nursing bra - white s

Updates:

I got food poisoning! Diarrhea n vomit like nobody business... Cannot even keep water down... Will itaffect bb?

So scared..

Hoshi

Is ur sister the senior dietician ... she either sees the youngest or the oldest in the hospital ... haha me in between so not seen by her hahaha

Am still thinking abt the bras...i hav 3 new ones now..with additional one to hold the pump from medela so am still thinking whether i should buy more? :p

THanks Chabby, so i should not buy those bravado first? as tot its really a good buy with all the disc quite tempted but i already buy two from motherworks tat day and one pc from the baby expo and 3 old ones from my previous pregnancy..

Nursing Bras sizes,

accordingly, we r in our 3rd trimester now. We should already know our bra size. ie. our breasts size kinda fixed already now. if I read correctly, all bravado bras are designed to accommodate 2 bra sizes so we don't have to worry about bra being to tight.

Lily

i think this depends on you. you may wan to buy 1 to try since it's highly rave.

by 36 weeks, bra size are pretty much fixed le.

Ya think mostly like i will buy 2 or 3 kekek since our sizes are pretty fixed now and i dont think i can fit into my old nursing bras..:p

Mitch,

Yup..she's the senior dietician.. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Going for my GD test tomorrow sigh... Just weigh myself this morning, think gained another 2kg from my last checkup. Although gynae says that I can only gain another 3kg for the rest of my pregnancy.... sigh... how to keep to 1kg for the next 2 months??....

Nimkulut,

Rest more and wish you recovery SOON!! take care babe

lily,

You bought so many nursing bra :-D...I only got 4 pcs...I dun plan to wear bra when alone in my bedroom, I hate to wear bra when sleeping..boobs not very big, hopefully it won't cause saggy for not wearing..

Hoshi,

Dun worry...your GD test will be all good :) gd luck!

Hoshi,

not easy ...me 4 weeks put on 3kg++ [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

but no worries you will clear yr test [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Kimmy, ya lo think too many also lay..my this pregnancy the increase is not as much as my previous thou my weight is ALOT more..kekek..so my old nursing bras mayb as stand by? but too huge..lol..so i bot two from motherworks and one cheap cheap one to stand by but think will buy from bravado..as i did try them and not too bad [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

hi hoshi, I'm also going for my GD test tmrw and same as u, i put on 2kg since mylast chkup 1 mth ago. Hope we both pass the test...

cookiefleur,

hope we made a wise choice. But I don't anticipate using it for very long, it's just a temporary thing till baby gets too heavy. Sometimes while shopping you just need a "hands-free" moment...

chabby,

I've already put on in total way more than you, so was forced to control diet. the GD test is just a precaution I guess. Today's weather is so bad that I succumbed to an ice cold bubble tea...

mitch,

can totally emphathise with the brown rice and wholemeal bread regime. I'm about 3/4 on such a diet? I tend to mask the taste of brown rice by requesting for more sauce to make it less rough on the tongue. More calories, but I'm kept full for longer and can abstain from the mid afternoon snack. I'm down to 3 smallish meals, and one heavier lunch with brown rice. Was really scared of weight gain last month, so guai guai kept to the diet. We can do it!

lilyh,

yes, have only recently started really suffering from wakeup pee at 3 am, cannot sleep properly till about 4, then 5 get woken up by baby kicking. bleah. my dark eye circles are amazing these days.

cookiefleur,

my orders for bras:

1. Bliss nursing bra, Chai, 36B/C, breastpads

2. Original, Butterscotch, S, breastpads

3. Bodysilk seamless, Butterscotch, S, $2 off.

Thanks for helping to update. I'm terrible with excel and tables.

the breastpads given are all the same type no matter which bra we buy right?

If the bravado bras are really so super comfy I can forget about ever wearing the 4 cheaper ones I already bought. Take it as bad investment. hehe

Pumps,

I bought a medela freestyle too. hopefully it does induce milk flow better. I think my nipples are very sensitive, is it true that pump expression might cause less soreness compared to baby latching on? Esp if baby is not doing it right and I dunno how to correct? So by this theory, I could continue expressing bm, although more troublesome.

chabby,

can't comment on the actual use both PIS and freestyle, but my colleague was using PIS and it is super heavy! the motor alone weighs a fair bit, and if you are transporting it everyday to your caregiver's before you go to work, after work carry back etc, can be quite a pain. She also used to freestyle recently from a friend, and she likes the freestyle more on the whole, even though she did say suction of PIS is better.

I don't want to get sore nipples or tax my breasts unnecessarily, so decided on freestyle. dunno whether my assets can take it or not. hehe

luckymummy,

Now I'm also taking multigrain bread for breakfast everyday although I haven't test for GD yet. For dinner, my MIL will cook brown rice for me and my sis-in-law. There is this brand of organic brown rice (picture of an elephant on the packaging). The brown rice is super nice to eat and not coarse... U can give it a try. I prefer it to having white rice.. and sugar content also lower. But quite ex.. think 1kg abt $8...

hoshi,

so your whole family takes brown rice? cos my husband won't eat...so no point in me buying. I usually order from the rice stall. 1 meal a day I still can tahan...

multigrain is nt the same as wholemeal right? even the wholemeal sold by gardenia is not 100% wholemeal flour, only about 50% i think. but still more filling than white bread. if you want pure wholemeal must buy from those upscale bakeries.

Hoshi and daphne,

i'll be doing GD test tmr morning also.

Hoping that everything will turn out well.

luckymummy,

thank you for your feedback. looks like freestyle is preferred due to weight and mobility. you need to consider buying a suitable size nipple shield. this may provide more comfort while expressing?

lily,

the nursing bra from jusco is not bad. support is decent and cheap (RM25). but they only have up to cup C. hope cup size won't increase too much. or else have to headache and scout for new bras.

chabby,

I have a breast shield already. the nipple shield is the one that closely covers the nipples right? but how will that work with the pump?

luckymummy,

no, my hubby will not eat brown rice... I get to eat brown rice coz my sis-in-law wants to eat.. so my MIL no choice has to cook separately for her daughter, then I get to eat too lor... hehe..

Multigrain bread I think is better than wholemeal.. My sister recommended one.. she says it's good for those with diabetic condition as it slowly releases sugar into the blood stream. I can eat 2 slices of multigrain bread for breakfast and tahan till lunch abt 12pm... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Luckymummy, tell me about it the black panda...@_@ my too..

the bra that hold the pump is from the spree forum Tan Leng Leng [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] hav not rec the thing yet so duno whether good or not [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Lily,

looks like you need to invest in a good well esp when you are well-endowed. *wink..

Thanks.

luckymummy

sorry, mix up w breast shield and nipple shield.

for BP, it shld be breast shield. direct latching is nipple shield.

chabby.. recently a lot of emails shooting ard.. no choice..

anyone having block milk ducts? i think i kena.. painful.. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

Komanthi> all the mothercare outlets having the same Nov sale. I got mine from the paragon outlet, but today, I saw the same at the harbourfront outlet. =)

I also kenna GD. =( Slightly over the limit. Tomorrow going for counselling and the nurse told me over the phone that I will need to prick myself too. Dunno how many times a day yet. Sigh.

Those going for GD test, dun worry ok? will keep fingers and toes crossed for you that everything will be fine! =)

Chabby, hoshi and Daphne all the best =) waiting to hear good news ya

GD test:

Good luck to mummies taking the test. Pricking yourself for so many times a day sounds bad... jia you babes! Its less than 3 more months to go.

Lost 1.5kg due to diarrhea n vomitting..

Really not easy as I m in a new role in e same company.. Think my boss expects a lot from me so my days are super stretched... Learning n doing pace is different one lo... Think I m still pretty woozy (dehydration) n really cannot catch up with e amount of stuff thrown at me...

last day of the week!! Yipeee!! [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

hoshi,

maybe I will try the multigrain then. I think I'm more greedy than you, cos 2 slices of wholemeal bread can't really sustain me till lunch. After breakfast at 730, have to eat around 11.

chabby,

direct latching allows you to use a nipple shield? I thought it's sealed up? At least it looks sealed up to me.

lilyh,

oh is the bra the one featured on the brochures of the freestyle? With the woman using a double pump?

mitch,

yah I know gravy is bad, but I don't like the texture of brown rice so must cover it a bit. And it is at least better than white rice. that's how I justify it to myself. haha

nimkulut,

wow take care yah...rmember to hydrate and you should let your boss know if the work gets too much.
