pauline, I'm 9 days to my EDD but I've been suffering alot this last month cos I've put on so much weight that I can't wait for this baby to be out asap and yet it looks like he is soooo comfy in there he's not going to come out anytime soon.

Sleek, me too. Suffered so much cos baby head engaged since 36 weeks. Can't walk, can't sleep, can't get up from bed. End up my baby pop on 39w1d. They have their own preferred timing one lar. I'm just glad that she's only 100g more than cheh cheh and her HC was the same.

was your #1 delivered before or on EDD? my gynae says usually there's a pattern one. if ur first one is early, second one likely too..
 
Jo, I washed hair twice cos won't be washing for first 2 weeks during confinement mah. Hee. As for moaning in toilet, it was when I was in delivery suite after they gave me the edema and left me alone in the room to clear my bowels.
 
pauline, yeah... tell me about it lo, own time own target, hehe! my #1 decided to come out at wk37 by waterbag leaking and how I wish it was the other way round for this one since I was so much lighter and mobile then!

L_L (vivi55), np 1 la. The most trigger labour and make me happy only, hahaha cos no bleeding or discarge or anything at all for now. btw each preg is different, cos I also asked my gynae if what happen with #1 will happen for #2, he said not necessarily will follow a pattern.

Thanks, sleek. Ya, my no. 1 also like that. 'Kick' waterbag until it breaks at only 38w4d and I was only 2cm dilated then. So different from no. 2. Hee.

L_L (vivi55), yah alot of doubts and questions for 1st time mummies. for me, I have no worries or issues with giving birth, it's just the waiting and getting there that is driving me nuts... heh, actually I didn't dilate for 24 hours after my waterbag leak and I was at home and even went shopping cos my gynae was fine with it. It only started and was fast after I went to hospital and they put me on the pitocin drip

really? thot they say if waterbag leak then need to give birth within 24hours? i cnt imagine if the waterbag like burst when i'm working or shopping on the street. haha.. so embarrassed.

hmm but the thing is if it burst by itself it will be better than someone burst it artificially right?

no la, the natural approach to birthing is that we can wait as long as the baby/ mum are fine and there is no meconium staining in the amnio fluid so that less interventions will be needed. but most gynaes are not comfortable with this, so standard protocol is still to go straight into hospital once waterbag leaks.

either way also presents a problem cos it does not mean that the mother can dilate and give birth successfully and waterbag breaking naturally as a 1st sign of labour is less than 30% of all births, not as common as we think or is shown on tv, so don't worry la

Just wanna check if we can still drink the milk powder which we consume during our pregnancy during our confinement.
It did say for pregnant and lactating mothers.
Cos dunno if i should buy a new can of Dumex Mamil Gold cos current one finishing.

any mummies in your 38 week same as me? now 1 night can wake up a few times just to wee wee, whole day can wee so many times! lucky now on ML, going toilet so often can be troublesome if still working....
 
Hi 1xmummy, Yes u can still drink the milk during confinement, I have a few sachets of annum when I got it free during KKH talk, u email/SMS me if you will like to have them ;) what time is your next checkup with Dr Heng on Tuesday? Mine is 3.50pm going back for post pregnancy checkup, can pass it to u on that day if we get to meet there or can bring to u when I passby your place after that, hopefully by then bb faith is still enjoying her sweet dream in your tummy ;p

Ok, i kinda hooked to drinking Dumex Mamil now..(after 5 weekl- feeding to it at Mdm Wong's Parentcraft lessons at AMK Hub - haha!)
Its tasty! And its really nice when its cold, especially when i freeze it (keke... while I can drink cold drinks better drink now, confinement time cannot drink cold drinks liao!)
So its ok, dun need to pass me the annum milk. I shall get one more can of Dumex for my consumption during my confinement. =)

Hopefully, Milk powder + my b/milk = more milk. hehe

I had a hard time last night.. Baby didn't want to sleep till 2+am. She keeps looking for milk. And I am not sure if she really is looking for milk or just for comfort. But she seems to have difficulty in latching on because of her blocked nose. She kept trying to adjust herself and find a comfortable position and when she detached herself, she just cry and scream. My PD said that blocked nose and heavy breathing is common for newborns.. Anyone experiencing that also?
 
Mummies, do you have frequent visitors at home? I am really tired to entertain actually. But I don't know how to reject them. How?

any babies experiencing growth spurt? my baby doesn't seem to get enough milk.. always demand feeding even latch for long. I wonder if she is undergoing growth spurt.

so far i hasnt been latching much cuz im tired and he scream real loud when he's hungry and there's no milk till i scare disturb my 'neighbour'(im staying in 2 bedder). so plan to latch more when im back home. and will try to stimulate using pump too.

birth story:

2dec
930pm - experience some rather strong contractions. saw brown discharge cuz i felt something coming out.

945 - experience some rather strong contractions again. no more brown discharge.

1000 to 1220 - called gynae and tell him i've got brown discharge and some rather irregular instructions. he says ask me wait for strong contractions every 10 mins then go hospital. if not if i go in now, nurse will induce me which he is rather disagree with it. after that, on and off got mild to moderate pain. not long later, got bloody discharge. start to time.

3 dec
1240 to 0200 - strong pain at 20 mins interval.

0210 to 0220 - felt something pull inside and got 'tuck' sound. went toilet and check. got dirty green colour water leaking out from vaginal. guess its water bag burst. wait a while and realise got more leaking out. proceed to hospital.

0245 yo 0340 - reach hospital. more water coming out. went in to delivery ward. nurse ask me some random question and make me poo. check im 1cm dilate only. ask me sleep. refuse any painrelief. contractions at every 5 mins. tolerate. while resting, suddenly tot how come my water is dirty green. then i suspect bb may poo inside. cuz when i poo, i saw MORE dirty water coming out but i flush away. so i tell nurse and nurse say maybe bb poo inside. i damn scared.

0830 - gynae came in. say still 1 cm!!! told gynae about my worry and he check my cervix. he say no green water leh. but i insist have!! but he say nurse also nv see and when he check also dun have. so he like half believe me!!! gynae ask me take epidural cuz he say at 11 plus he wanna come stretch my cervix!! he say i dilate very slow.. plus he say if bb really poo inside, he need to csect immediately. but he check liao say dun have and bb heartbeat still ok.. puzzled..

0930 - on epidural. put epidural also pain.

1100 - 3cm. yeah..

1130 - gynae stretch 4-5cm.

1320 - did VE and realise back to 4cm!!! tried to stretch till 6cm.

1430 - 6 cm. note - its been 12 hrs since water bag burst liao.

1615 - 7 to 8 cm. thought should be near le.

1800 plus - gynae stretch 8-9cm. got fever. took panadol and antibiotics drip. plus need to wear oxygen mask. so i got the drip to help dilate + fliud drip with antibiotics. start sobbing cuz dunno why labour like this.. and damn scare cuz i believe bb poo inside.

2000 - 9cm.

2130 - 2200 - gynae came and say gimme 20 mins to push cuz too long liao. and im only 9.5cm dilate and bb position rather high up. check and realise got green poo inside!! wah lau!! im going crazy!! all sorts of mad scenes came into my mind. cuz i already realise he poo when water bag burst. and its like 20 hrs liao? gynae say maybe he just poo inside.

2222 - with the help of 2 nurses(they really push my tummy damn hard till i realise one of the nurse bruise my rib-bone and both sides of my stomach muscle also got bruise), my gynae support, he standby vacuum liao, i push damn hard and bb Keith is here!! once bb is out, i breakdown and cry uncontrollably for a good 5 mins to release all my tension. i think i cry louder then my bb.

thinking back, i still wanna sob. really tough. but im glad i made it. sometimes i think if i took epidural on the first place, maybe can dilate faster cuz epidural will make me relax. i rem this info but at that moment, my mind is all about bb poo-ing inside. all those info i read, all forget. gynae commented my case and say my bb is not small, pelvic bone abit small plus too much fatty tissue around. thats why i got such a long labour. he still say next time dun eat so much liao cuz after that he go home, his body ache. even the nurse also comment she very tired.. its really long labour. from i go in, nurse A help me. then change shift to nurse B. in the end, its still nurse A on duty to push me. even on epidural, only can relieve contractions. all the VE, stretching of cervix, pushing of bb is super pain!!!!! and i got 3 rounds of epidural. anyway, i must say my gynae very good!! very damn experienced and pro natural. supportive too!! my conclusion is, i believe bb poo initially but the poo was flush out by the water bag. then he did poo again just before he pop.

snowpear, my hubby is very supportive and comforting. he accompany me thorughout the labour.

canopy, my wound i think quite bad? cuz gynae stitch very long and say got one very near the ass. next morning better le. can walk around. today even better le. i got use one spray as pain relief.

sandy, gleneagles now uses huggies. btw, dr fong say i very lucky cuz i got the newly renovated level 5 ward. cuz so coincidence that day i labour they just open. but i tell you, its smaller then other levels one lor!! and i feel rather 'lock cock'. but the service is good. before they come in to ward, they'll knock on the door which i think rather funny. wahaha..

feeling very tired and damn lazy to pump. bb lazy to latch.. if i nv do anything, will got milk anot? kekeke.. im supplementing him with FM now..

btw, on 01 and 02 dec, i keep talking to bb and ask whether he wanna come out on 03dec anot cuz 03 jan is his daddy birthday. then i say can celebrate together mah. first month + daddy birthday together. and he really did it. kekeke

Congrats Jeanie.. Your labour seems to be quite long... Hmm.. My advice to you is try to latch on as much as possible cos I read on articles that if baby is used to the bottle, they may reject breast cos bottles are easier for them to suck and drink... And latching on can stimulate more milk compared to pumping. Enjoy ur breastfeeding..

sleek: felt better after hearing what you say. i really hope my waterbag dun burst until i'm in hospital. cos seems like most of the mummies here waterbag burst then go into labour. haha..

hi ainsley, whenever he latches my womb contracts.. wah.. pain.. but now he like latch abit liao either sleep or wail.. then my mum, hubby and CL all panic. haiz... then now colostrum also dun have. i now waiting for milk to kicks in then i pump pump pump lor..

jo.. it was indeed scary lor.. cuz i went for scan on monday. then no poo leh.. so maybe he poo either on tue or wed.. dun stress.. maybe can negotiate a date with your bb.. hehehe
 
jeanie, congrats sounds like you had quite and adventure!! strange that your gynae and nurse dont believe you when you said got meconium, did they put your bb on antibiotics after birth? btw if the waters are greenish, the meconium was passed recently, so prolly your baby passed it just when you went into labour

candice, because meconium is a build up of all the poo, amniotic fluid etc that bb ingest while in the tummy, that's why can cause problems.
 
Oh...I feeling my tummy quite heavy since last week. Could it be a sign of engraded?Gyane only said bb head go down liao. They never check my cerix lei.
 
sleek, nursse dun believe cuz i nv show them. gynae dun believe cuz when he check my cervix, dun have traces of poo.. so i think like wad you said, maybe bb just poo and break water bag to pass it out..

candice, baby in our womb is well protected by amniotic fluid. our poo wont reach baby cuz its in our intestine. and bb usually wont poo until he/she gets out.
 
Hi miumiu, me n baby doing good same here baby poo poo not much too. Think my little prince has abit of colic has been cryin since 8 plus headache headache
