(2009/09) September 2009 MTBs

mummies, how many times can frozen breastmilk be heated?like 1st time cant finish it, can it be heated again? I reheated e remainder milk for her next feed but smells fishy so i threw it away. .

bernice

It's not recommended to reheat leftover milk for another feed. I never keep any leftovers. Yes, it's very heart pain, but better to be safe than sorry.

Pear Puree

Just now I tried to steam pear n make puree but not successful!

Not sure issit pear not ripe enough or I din steam long enough? The pear was very hard & can't even be mashed.

But I cut into 1-1.5cm size cubes n steamed in a bowl in a pot for 15min+. Can't be not cooked right?

Jul,

I think fruits no need to be really cooked cause we can eat it without cooking... its just that cause we need it softened for our babies... for Pear Puree, I will just blend it without cooking leh... Cause it will have juices after blending mah... erm.. not sure if I am doing it right lah...

bernice

btw bm not free leh. pump, electricity, supplements, dishwashing liquid, mummies blood n sweat.. all cost lor haha

Jul - I will choose those green pears that feels soft when u press..

I just gave my boy apple puree with cereal then tried to give him fresh apples (scraped) and he didn't like it and his face looked really really funny.. hehehe

Gerald: for puree, steam with skin, then remove skin before blending

my boy had his first solid food today! he seems to enjoy the rice cereal + BM

Dear mommies sorry to intrude.

I have a preloved gently used FisherPrice Rainforest jumperoo for sale. Condition is 8.5/10. Some scuffs at the sticker area else everything is very much in good working condition. We took great care of it n cleaned it regularly. Also my baby didn't use it very often as we got it when she was abt 8 mths n she was already pretty active (wants to crawl around) by then.

RRP is $240 I am selling at $180 negotiable. Self collect at bt panjang. Thanks. [email protected]

Hi mommies,
Anyone using avent pacifier? Like to know the 2nd one is meant from how many months onwards?

I just change the pacifier for my son but he don't like it and stop using it. Thinking of passing to my gal since it is v new.

Connie:
my kids are using Avent pacifier. think the 2nd one is 6 months onwards. check the packaging, it is indicated on the box. but it depends on your baby's mouth size. i tried giving #1 when she was 6-month old but too big for her, so wait until later then use

Hi mummies,
I'm having a sore lump at my chest area, feels like blue black type of pain even when I didn't touch it.. Can I just see a normal gp for such thing?? Abit paiseh also since my gp is a guy..

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHELLY!

puree
ytd, i bought organix puree for my gal. i think i bought the wrong flavour - apple. she didn't like it at all! 1st try, her face all scrunched up! 2nd try she look a bit shocked..3rd mouth onwards started spitting everything out! mommies who wanna try purees, perhaps apple is not a good one to start with. think its too sour!

waiwai
wow your boy is a neat eater, no mess at all! i feel so shy when i see photos of your boy and jenifur's boy, how come my girl is such a messy eater!!?? how do you all do it?!

mummies,

if never get rid of phelm, will lead to other problem anot ah?

Michelle,
My gal took antibiotic, cough n nose medicine when she is 3 mth old. After taking, she did vomit milk n phegm out. Manage to recover in 2 weeks. This round her brother cough but she didn't kanna.

But SIL son cough at her last week a few times, so have to monitor her this week.

connie> oo. my boy took normal medication 2wks ago. not fully recovered. still cough occasionally, but no more clot nose and vomitting of phlegm. will monitor for 1 more wk, den bring him to doc again if still not recovered.

my boy still wakes up 2-3 times at night! he is 5-month already, still like that. faintz. he wakes up more frequent recently after he started to flip... then gotta latch him to sleep...

kiki:
haha, the mess is not shown in the photo... i carry my boy on my lap and let him sit slightly inclined backwards to minimise the mess

waiwai> wow. n are u a sahm or ftwm? if me i will faint, my boy started sleeping after his 9pm feed with a dream feed at ard 12-1am by hubby while i pump

<font color="119911">Waiwai</font>
My boy wakes 2-3 times at night to feed too.. And I have to wake up even more times to 'save' him cos he will wiggle wiggle and get stuck in corners or against the pillow and I have to lift him back to the center of the bed. Very shiong. He used to be able to fall asleep by himself but recently need to latch him to sleep. Sigh.. and I tot my life should get easier as he grows older.

<font color="119911">Michelle</font>
Then he'll scream and cry! Furthermore, I'm afraid he'll suffocate cos sometime he'll wriggle till his head go under the pillow. If I remove the pillow then he'll head butt the wall! It's complicated.

itsy> ur boy not sleeping in cot? my boy sleep in cot with bumper ard, so once he bang n get stuck, he wun wriggle upward, den turn sideway and move again -_-"

<font color="119911">Angel</font>
hahhaha congrats!

<font color="119911">Michelle</font>
Nope, Ian is not sleeping in his cot cos he still wakes for feed 2-3 times at night, and it's more convenient for me if he sleeps with me. Anyway, when he sleeps in his cot in the day, he will also scream once he hits the side of the cot leh... won't turn and flip the other side... mmm... a bit silly hor.

<font face="tahoma"> <font color="Ff3399">Thanks for the birthday wishes!!</font>
You girls are such darlings.

<font color="ff3399">angel</font>
Did you flip?
lol.gif
CONGRATS!!

</font>

Congrats Angela!!!

Sigh, my boy needs to be latched before sleep... my hubby tried giving him bottle, he's hungry cause last feed was 3 hours ago but he refuse to drink... must latch then can sleep... *faintz*

Next time if job requires me to travel how? Hubby say pack him in luggage and bring.. hahah

angel> congrats
happy.gif

itsy> oo. ur boy not sleeping in his cot ah? y not train him not to wake up? hehe. slowly he will learn to flip de other side when he grows bigger ba. my boy managed to flipped from tummy to back tat day. but sometimes he dunno how to do it again -_-"

steph> lol. heng my boy can dun drink n fall asleep. he juz need to struggle n turn to tummy time, play until tired, put his head down n sleep

itsy, heard it's like that if bb sleep with us on the bed..mine is 6M plus and waking up 2hrly. i ask PD, he said shouldn' sleep on same bed for safety purposes and reliance issues..as well as cos their sleep pattern is abt 2hrly will wake up abit, so will wan to latch back to sleep n look for breasts lor..which is wat i face exactly too..though i can fully understand it's easier if bb sleep tog, then we jsut turn over n pat or latch. but v tiring if keep waking up lor...tried 2 nights with MIL help out, bb sleep in cot, n he slept much longer...but me haven't tried that out yet cos v troublesome to have to get up all the time...

hey if there is bulk buy of fitti again do PM me k...fitti seems quite good ya?

steph> erms. mine boy used to need to latch den sleep too. but after he go infant care, somehow he can sleep on his own liao. dunno to give infant care credit or cos dey tortured him to sleep the first few days -_-"

jeni> i agree tat putting baby in his cot means we need to wake up n carry him out n put him back, but i find tat this way he dun c me, he get less reliant, now he still in same room as me, but can do things on his own =p

Latching to sleep>
Rayanne is also sleeping with us very frequently nowadays.. She needs to be latched to sleep too.. Even last feed at 11pm she still need to latch at 11plus or 12am.. Till she falls asleep.. N I'm latching her lying down whenever possible At home.. So her last latch to sleep Can range frm 15-40min till I fall asleep too.. Then next feed could be 6plus or 7plus..

N I also lazy to put back to cot, sometimes too tired to.. Then just sleep.. hb dunno how to carry n put to cot gently cuz if he does it, she'll sure wake up.. Lol..

So we just leave it.. Hee..

mummies who are using the baby cubes, do u steralise them before storing the food in it to freeze or store in fridge? do we have to?

Healthy Times Organic Baby Food
Any mummies staying in the West interested in purchasing approx $100 worth of Healthy Times Organic Baby food? I emailed the Singapore distributor today and they told me that I'll be able to get 15% discount if I purchase $250 and more. I can only chalk up between $100-$150 on my own, so need another mummy to share the balance. Prefably a mummy who stays in the West so that collection is easier. Here's the range of the products (and prices before discount) that you can choose from http://www.healthytimes.sg/store.php

If you're interested to share, please send me a PM by tomorrow, else I'll just order $150 and get a 10% discount on my own.

Here's what I'm planning to order for my baby + toddler:
$6.90 x 7 brown rice cereal
$6.90 x 1 oatmeal cereal
$6.90 x 1 barley cereal
$5.60 x 2 vanilla biscuits for teethers
$7.00 x 2 original teddy puffs
$5.60 x 2 vanilla arrowroot cookies
$6.60 x 2 vanilla hugga bear cookies

<font color="119911">kiki</font>
I dun sterilise his items anymore. Sometimes he'll stick his fingers into his mouth while in the bath and he'll also put his toys and books into his mouth. If he can stomach these, then no need to sterilise his things anymore. I just wash his utensils with soap esp for baby utensil and b4 using, rinse with cooled boiled water.

rach,
i would say that you can feed cereal for as long as your baby is able to accept it. my toddler's childcare offers oatmeal cereal for breakfast once a week. meaning there are still 2-3 years old toddlers who eat cereal. but mine doesn't eat that -- don't like gooey stuff.

kiki,
no need to sterilise the cubes cos when baby is weaning, they're already supposed to be more than 6 months old, beyond the sterilizing age.
