rach : Marc's had gripe water off and on. usually about 3mls each time, and about 3-6mls of water to wash it down after. Otherwise he gets BM, and occasionally FM. Doesn't need water.

nice meeting u earlier. Sorry didnt have time to talk to u too cos was busy looking for things to buy.. haha..
i let my gal tried the bounce-a-bout after u left but my gal cant touch the bottom and she ended up shaking from side to side, front to front when she try to reach for the toys around it. Then hubby didnt want to get it also. In the end bought a playmat, new bedsheets and socks for my gal only.
Jaelle is very happy in her new toy hor.

i'm giving the older ones to my gal so can replenish with the new ones. I need to prepare for 4 bottle feeds each wkday. So i try to give 2 bottles of EBM from the previous day and 2 bottles from the old stocks. hehe

That's what I did. But my husband was making noise that why I don't give all new ones. He says I should give the freshest milk to my boy. I'm now in a dilemma as I really have a lot of old stock.

well, at least we let them try lo. if like then buy.. dun like or not suitable.. buy also waste $$ lo. I was tempted to purchase online de. then pay the $10 delivery charge if i nv hit $250. I stay very far ma.. but aft tinking thru.. still better to bring her there to try it out lo. Tho' half price but not a small investment also.

i fed my 4.5 month old baby healthy times brown rice cereal this afternoon!! wasn't intending to feed him solids this early. but was really desperate just now, so i just tried. surprisingly he took to the spoon very well and ate a lot. situation was like this: he was wailing for his 5pm feed, and i was just up from a nap with him so i haven't expressed out the feed. since he refuses to latch on in the day time, he was quite difficult to pacify. so i decided to go ahead and try the cereal on him. altogether he took 18 teaspoon (shallow combi spoon) of cereal! then 10ml of boiled water later, he fell asleep for a nap at 6 plus. i hope the cereal is keeping his little tummy happy so that he doesn't wake up for his 1am feed later. shall post some pics of the solid feeding in my blog later...

i give the newest feed. usually i just express and feed w/out refrigerating. if it's for school, i would use the milk that has been expressed one day before. i rarely offer him FBM except for 1-2 feeds on monday in school. i don't have that much of FBM (16 feeds only) in my freezer so i don't have the problem of old stock like you do. why don't you get your toddler to clear the old stock for you?

I latch Ian and doesn't feed him any other liquid. I thought totaly BF babies do not need to drink water so I never give lor. So far, I've only fed Ian a few spoonful of water when he hipcups and my dad insisted on giving him water. But that's like only 3 times since birth.

how about you cut down one-two pumps a day so that you can finish the old stock? after you finish then you can consider upping the pumping to make up for the shortfall cos you sound like you really have a lot of FBM now if you filled up the extra freezer that you bought.

I was told that giving the freshest milk is the best cos the make of the milk is the most suited for our babies as they grow (which explains why FM needs to be changed). But I also have a whole drawer of milk, some going to be 3 months already. I haven't found a solution yet, so now, I try to let my boy drink a little old stock. But 95% of the time still using fresh ones, if not direct BF.
I do end up throwing some old stock milk (only a little, like 30ml if he can't finish) but I figured that once it's frozen, the anti-bodies may be lesser. and it's also milk meant for him when he was 1-2 months old. Not sure if I'm doing the right thing though. But till I find a better solution, this will have to be it.

Hey mummies, guessed most of you are already sound alseep as many are working mummies now. Most of the time if i am able to come into forum, i will not be able to catch up ): I spend more time scrolling.. end up not much time to type! -.- GUessed many of us have lots to complaint, even ME! Awww... but many times i really have no time to complaint... my hb also make me mad many times.. really mad!!!! What to do... sian! BTW, saw that some of you mentioning babies having milk strike etc.... i totally have no idea what happen to my baby... some days he drink 2hourly with 5-10mins per feed... and keep giving me wanna-puke-action + wanna-puke-sound..... sometimes puke all out... -.-" then today he drank 35mins at 12.30pm... 5pm tried to feed him he refused... end up 8pm i tried to feed him again, he struggle... drank 15mins (struggling!) and 9+ cranky... i almost kisiao! Then 9.30pm want to drink milk, 25mins... AND he never poo since THURSDAY! Since birth he poo very often... this time.... i don't know what happen... since wed evening after seeing doctor and took medication for cough and phlegm.... he never poo liao... how i also don't know... ): i'm like a lousy mother lah... this dont know how.. that dont know how... sigh...

Eh... Don't think of yourself as a lousy mother! COme on! We're all here to share and learn from each other. There are times when we are really at our wits end even after trying all sorts of methods. We just want the best for our kids and I think that's the key factor.
For Marc, we just leave him in his cot even when he's awake at times. As long as he doesn't cry, that's good enough for me. We've got a cot mobile that keeps him sufficiently entertained, and also a rocker when he gets tired of that.
Don't worry too much about the lack of poo. It's already on it's way as we chat! As long as there's no fever and he doesn't show signs of discomfort, he's doing great! Drinking habits wise, he's really his own boss. Just let him dictate I guess.
Have a great day and cheer up! Get sufficient rest cos being tired is just going to wear you down further!

I didn't really think of it... but I guess what mama to 6Js says is right.
Also, since our kids will be reaching the weaning stage, the FBM can be used at that stage as well.
Currently, what I'ld do is keep the FBM and at times, just substitute it into one or two of his feeds. I suppose the key is to not keep it for too long? Could always do a circulation of stock.

Don't worry, my gal poo once every 4-5 days. And poo a lot. PD say is fine, means she can digest the BM very well.
From the forum, Can see that many bb are on milk strike now. You are not the only wan. My gal sometimes can drink 4-5 bottles of 120ml per day. High time is 7 bottles. Mine also have problem with feeding,cry when u insist to let her drink. Last night she drank at 6pm, 9pm cry to reject milk but she did drink at 5am this morning.
Did u purp your bb during the feed? Try purp after she stop drinking. Else give her grip water daily to prevent excess gas in the stomach.

as for keeping my gal entertain... she has been without toys at my mum's place when i return to work.. only the high chair which has a swing function but someone has to manually swing it. lol.. so today just brought her playgym along and let her be entertained lor. usually i just let my gal sit in her bumbo seat, lie on the cot with cot mobile or lie on her playgym. So far she seems ok with thsese. I'm also thinking of getting the exersaucer.. hehe

i also have reserves abt giving frozen BM due to the different nutrients at different stages. However i need to clear my frozen stock as my freezer is running very very low of space and if i want to BF longer, i need to get rid of the old ones to make space for new ones. Hence i decided to give 2 frozen, 2 chilled and 2/3 fresh (latch) ones daily when i'm working. at least this helps to clear the old stocks and also ensure my gal gets some new nutrients. haha.. On wkends, i will latch most of the time if possible...
i really dont know how long i can continue BF but i'm hanging on... it's really so tiring to wake up earlier to pump every morn and also pump b4 slp every nite... badly need my beauty slp man! my hubby see me so xinku, he also tried to ask me to stop.. but i hope can TBF till at least 6months then i decide how.

Has anyone else's baby had the runs before? She keeps pooing (6 time on Sat & 10 on Sun!!) and the doctor says there's not much to give her cos she doesn't seem to be in pain, she's feeding well and no fever, so no need to come down and see him, not much he can give her.

my boy also doesnt poo regularly now. used to be every morn but since few weeks ago only poo every 2-3 days. there was once 5 days no poo.
pls la u r a v good mother already. when i had my first at ur age, i was blur and didnt know anything, didnt even know how to breastfeed and didnt even bother to read up. so dun condemn urself like tat ok. we are all tryg our best. filter other ppl's comments, the good ones we accept the bad ones we reject! come on, its our kid not theirs why should they have so many comments to make when they didnt have a single contribution is caring for the kid? learn to love urself and be more confident n ignore other ppl esp those who dun give a hoot abt u in the first place. u know what i mean?? if they love n care for u they will give u constructive feedback instead of putting u down all the time.
i miss the kidzloft sale. was too busy to go down anyway.i love the pink exersaucer <font color="ff0000">ling</font> got for jaelle! so sweet! my joseph boy is enjoying his jumperoo. now he jumps n jumps and can even rotate his body 180deg to play the toys ard him. i think soon he will be able to turn 360deg!

how come titus doesnt latch on during the day? cos he is too used to being in infant care during the day is it? so weekends he also doesnt latch during daytime?

For the "First Food" book, no leh, it's not big and heavy leh (to me). I don't have the Top 100 puree to compare with though.
For comparing prices between Amazon and bookdepository, we find the book that we want from the 2 sites. Then for Amazon, add in the estimated shipping cost (we use Amazon international shipping directly, so it's easy for use to do the calculation cos it's fixed price per item). Then see which one is cheaper. Very easy woh.

I was struggling with my supply all along cos I am not a hardworking mummy to pump regularly, and I started to work early. But initially I insisted to TBF my girl. I was very stressed up everyday, worrying how much I can pump each day. My hub felt so bad for me but he couldn't help. I finally let go when my girl was 4 months old. Supplemeneted with 1 feed on weekdays and fully latch on weekends. It was so much better for me, as I didn't have to worry if I have pumped enough for her or not (cos I don't have any FBM stored in the freezer, what I pump today is for the next day's feeds). Last week, I started to add 1 more FM at night in addition to latching (and surprisingly she takes bottle and latch, with about 1 hour apart), hoping to fill her stomach fuller, and it works (not sure if this is the only reason, cos she was/is teething also), she sleeps A LOT better these days. As long as she is growing healthier, and she is, I couldn't care less whether it's BM or FM.
And my girl is definitely teething. 1 upper tooth is out already!!! Can't really see it yet, but can feel already. So fast! Luckily no fever and no wailing. Only gave me some sleepless nights

how come urs upper tooth out first? usually its lower right? anyway i can feel mine at the lower tooth for quite some time oredy but till now refuse to sprout more out. is xin yu starting to bite? cos mine started biting sometime back already

wah u can afford to pump 5x at work ah? for me i only pump 3x at home. actually if i wanna be more hardworking i can squeeeeeeze in time to pump one more time but no lah. i think my rest is equally as important as pumping milk! in fact i think more important than my stubborness to have more ebm for joseph haha... cos i run a whole big household i cannot afford to fall sick and i need to think of my 4 other kids as well. my boys school workload is really heavy this yr i gotta spend time coaching them as well. so whatever time i can squeeze in other than pump milk i rather spend it resting! not easy being a mother hor?? end of day we all tried our best la

Yesterday gave bb the 1st bottle of formula and he drank up hungrily, like I've not been feeding him full... Some more heard hubby ask bb, Milk milk nice rite? makes me more upset and frustrated. But my frozen supply has all been used up by bb and I couldn't pump more than 140ml at work each time...really stressed up.
now, hope i can at least partial bf, but today my helper said something tat pissed me off, u still wanna bring ur pump to office? super low morale...

yes, i also find these gadgets are good to keep them entertained while i hang/keep clothes, prepare veg/meat/fish for dinner etc...
I went to kidzloft also ysterday, and put my daughter in the exersaucer and she also likes it! but i already have a jumperoo and she's going to infant care next month, so not getting another one for her..i think if i have to stay at home with her 24/7 i will get the exersaucer too!!

Just to share my "golden" weekend.. As many of you may know, my boy actually poos only every 5 days but....
My little one pooed on last Friday so when Hubby and I (with all kiddos) had to go pick up my #1 after soccer training on Sat morning 8plus am, gung ho mummy decided not to bring any diapers... after boarding the cab, just 7km away from my house, I realised baby's diaper has leaked with poo!!! Argh... hahah... but cause we were already late so we just went ahead on the journey.. hahah I used my bebe au liat to wrap his bum, no choice cause I really never bring anything out except Bebe Au Liat... lol Then I was still feeling lucky and say I want to go buy 4D cause it has never happened before.. hahah in the end also never strike lah..
Then came friday, after swimming lessons for older kids, we went to #1's friend's house for birthday party. In the afternoon, Baby Jordan pooped... again.... I was like @@, why he poo again. Lucky this time round, I know we going to go out till evening so I brought 2 diapers and bebe au liat (of course washed and dried in case if you wonder).
After coming back home, night time after feed, he pooed again!!! 4 times in 3 days... he kindoff used up his 3 week's quota... lol. Poo is normal and he looks okie also... Hahah I learnt my lesson already... no matter how short the journey, I will bring diapers and wipes.. hahah

snowyin - dun feel bad! i have been supplementing fm for 1 feed since jacob turns abt 2 wks old. cos supply was low and my cl kept bugging me. for me, its a bit for convenience cos if night feed use fm, then i get to sleep better and whoever feeds him wun be stressed at having to warm up bm and coping with a wailing baby in the middle of the night. i may be a bit selfish in this matter cos i wanna rest, but a well-rested mama will make baby happy when u r not grouchy right? also, one of the mummies commented before that supplementing babies with fm also good cos we are giving them the best of both worlds! i read liao also think its true, although like self consolation haha! cos sometimes we dun eat well then our bm may not be as nutritious as we wanted it to be, so some fm with the right nutrients may just be good! just my 2cents worth lar! i m feeding fm also cos tt time we bought too many, so now still have 1.5tin left. on average, jacob takes 1.5 mths to finish one tin. so if i have spare i will freeze so tt next time can use to mix with cereal. my hubs and sister sometimes also quite insensitive. my sister who is not married nor has she any kid was commenting (twice!) how come my supply so little, when her friend can keep her freezer packed with fbm. i hear liao quite pissed but my sis is like tt, very blunt one. so i told her off lor, some of my colleagues' supply only enough to feed their babies for one week and from then on feed fm liao, even lesser, so cannot compare like tt. and since bm fed babies are supposedly smarter, tt's y i am smarter than her cos my mum breastfed me for 1 wk while she went straight on to fm. haha! just to piss her off a bit! at the end of the day, fm is better than nothing cos most of us are fed with fm (which were not as high tech as those now somemore!) and we also survived! and just listen with one hear when u hear -ve comments lor. usually ppl who comment so much are those who have not gone through the pains of breastfeeding and pumping! so try to relax and rest more to boost supply! we can do it!

dilemma leh, should i try pampers? cos fitti is so much cheaper! now one upper space from my walk in wardrobe is filled with diapers but i so kuku all buy L.... left w 2 pkts of M petpet for day use. and 1 huggies ultra for night, which i think wun be enuf...
