hmm.. sam wasn't especially drowsy after the jab. he developed fever only the next day pm. u just keep a close eye on her temp. pd told me 38deg then considered as fever using ear therm.

my girl slept throughout after the jab on a wed....thur fever...fri milk strike...
so... yah..but i was out whole of wed...got scolding...should have jab and let her go home rest...
i sponge her throughout while outside...with a washcloth... i went toilet to wet it and sponge her whenever i could..
she became more warm at nite...8plus..(she took her jab at 10am).. then i fed her one dosage of paracetmaol...
next day 1pm and 7pm i gave 2 more dosage then she ok liaoz...

thanks gals... been touching her fever every now and then... seems not as warm as just now.. no fever too.. she was fine for her 1st month jab.. mayb only 1 jab so was normal.. today she had 2 jab.. she's been slping since 9.30 after i latch her for half an hr. hope tis helps to change her biological clock so that she can slps early from today onwards.. i'm hoping for that.. hehe.. but it's still to early to tell..

btw i'm using those thermoter that scans the forehead.. not the ear type.. so not sure how accurate it is.. but always measure myself and hub's temp too just to double check.. hehe.. paranoid 1st time mum here lah

Hope your gal is alright this morning. Which PD you brought her ah? Actually that time during H1N1, my company uses the infra red scan thermometer to scan forehead, the accuracy is quite ok one.

Is it ok to use a ear probe thermometer on a baby? I intend to purchase a thermometer but deciding between the infra red forehead one and the ear probe one. My gal is getting her jab this coming Mon so need to prepare just in case *touchwood* got fever.

thanks for ur concern... she's fine this morn.. gave her some medi last nite at 1am cos temp was 37.3 on the thermometer and the reading has been 36.5 on normal days... and she's much hotter on her face, hands, body,, her face was red too! so hub says give her medi lor. then end up waking her and latch her after med. coldnt reall slp last nite... slpt at 3am n woke at 5am to check her temp, then 7am and now...

mine is not the infra red type ba.. still need to b in contact with the forehead. the IR ones no need contact with skin. not so sure abt ear ones

it's not her first jab.. brought her for 1st jab when she's 1st month, that's heb B. didnt u bring jacob for any?? i just follow the schedule given to me by the first pd at tmc. then next jab is in her 3rd month which is the one she took ytd. we opted for pneumococcal too so she had 2 jabs. she was fine/normal for her 1st.. but 2nd one not so... drowsy n warm at touch so decide to montor her thru the nite.

I might not be able to attend the x'mas celebration. Me forget that my gal has a jab on sat. Based on the history of her previous jab, she'll be cranky for about 2-3 days. She'll be fussing &amp; refuse to latch so not too sure if I'll bring her out.

Anyone staying at punggol know if there's still a swimming centre for babies at punggol plaza after Hua Xia shifted? Keen to bring my girl to go swimming.

Yes, it's ok to use a ear probe thermometer on a baby. Infrared forehead one is the least accurate thermometer of all.
 
opps.. that means i got a least accurate thermometer!! stoopid hubby lah.. ask him get a ear therm and he came back with a forehead scan one...hmmpf

Hope no offence taken. I just share what I read from the articles. Forehead thermometer is commonly used in clinic/hospital as there is no contact with subjects hence minimise the cross-infection. If it's for home-use, usually would recommend the ear probe one, or armpit one for very young baby. Though it says forehead ones are not as accurate, but you can still make full use of it - you should know what's the "normal" temperature for your kids by measuring the temp a few times when he is not ill. So you can compare this "normal" temp with the temp taken when he is sick.

milkyway - not yet leh! cos i was deciding if i shld give him the 6-in-1 or juz go minimal. also to build his immune system for a while more lor. now decided on the 6-in-1 plus all other misc. hubby so funny say dun dare to bring him overseas if he dun have jabs! then was also comtemplating between pd and gp. haha basically its a blur AND lazy mum here!

kam - haha no worries lar, u giving us more info mah! i bought the forehead one also, cos my hubs' weird theory says that ear probe one is a bit too loud for baby... hahaha!

That what's I read on several independant articles from the magazine.

On real case - last time when my boy was having fever, we felt his body was pretty hot, measured with ear themometer, temp almost 38C. Sent him to cc and the infrared forehead one measured only at about 36.7C.

think i know which one u refering to.. the one that looks like a gun rite? mine is not that... like i say it needs to b in contact with the forehead, not contactless... and its even cheaper than the ear therm, that's y hub bought it too. and he says ear therm has a peep sound which is not gd for the ear drums?

SBCC AMK is near AMK polyclinic and Courts. Yah need to make appts not only for jab, also for seeing doc when ill!

must be tiring for u rite? all the pumping and sterilising... not looking forward to 2010 lor. sigh...

think even though the scan type thermometer can read up to 2 decimal places (0.01), like Kam said, it is not accurate as compared to thermometer that is in contact with the body... i'm using ear probe one for my kids, but it can be used when they are 3-month and older as their ears are small
