Ya ya, Dun move for long then sudden movement will be very pain.. better if I keep walking. Sounds like an old engine hor, must keep moving, cannot stop or it'll stall. Haha

Milkyway
Just try your best to finish whatever you can, dun get too stressed out. My thinking is, the company won't close down if I dun complete my work b4 I give birth but if I get too stressed out, me and my bb will get affected directly. Which is more important?

flower

flower4
just go by wat Dr wong and u think is best for u and baby okie? have a gd talk with your hubby these few days and make a decision by Fri so that you are at least prepared for it. Jia you!

Hi Michelle,

i see.. missed the post that u have csect on 090909... sorry...
happy.gif

i feel the same as u, the longer i sit, the more painful it is when i stand up...

i dun even know if baby is engaged. last week when i went, Dr Khi checked for dilation. since she check for dilation, does it mean that bb is engaged? confused.

i am worried bb will be later than EDD, cos i starting leave next monday liao, so the later bb comes out, the less time i have to spend with her when she is out. but i already handed over my stuff in office liao, delay my ML i also nothing to do in office... confused

Hi flower4,

this is my 1st child so i have no advice for you, but safety of mother and child is most important, whichever decision you make, i wish u all the best..
happy.gif
everything will turn out fine..

Hi mummies!

Congrats to those who have popped! And my fingers crossed for those who are waiting to pop! Haven't had the chance to go through all the posts.. will do soon.

Girly and Sheryn,
GOOD LUCK!

My birth story as promised,

0120: Got up with a full bladder and was emptying the rest of it when I thought I felt a 'pop' sound. I thought the baby kicked me and didn't think too much about it. After 10 mins, I felt myself getting rather wet. Upon checking, I was leaking some pink fluid. Then it dawned on me that my amniotic sac might have ruptured. DUH! OMG, hospital bag's not completely packed yet and the baby is coming!! We called the hospital and they asked us to go down for a check just to be sure.

0230: No signs of contractions or pain, so I took my own sweet time to pack my bags and took a bath.

0330: Arrived at the hospital and got strapped onto a CTG machine. I couldn't feel anything but the CTG showed irregular contractions. The midwife confirmed with a litmus paper test that my amniotic sac broke. I was 4 cm dilated at this point. I thought... heng ah, only need to suffer 6 cm more of dilation. Got admitted and the hub got sent home cos the midwife said that it could still take a long time.

0400: Tried to get some sleep but was it was elusive.

0500: Started to feel contractions at regular intervals. They were pretty bearable in the beginning.

0600: Contractions at 5 mins interval. Still bearable but not so fun anymore. Had to keep repeating to myself.. the pain doesn't last forever. Requested to be moved to the labour ward. Got strapped onto the CTG machine AGAIN.

0645: The midwives were changing shifts and they strapped me on the damn machine for almost an hour. The contractions were so painful that I thought.. OMG, ok, I NEED an epidural!

0700: Buay tahan already, the midwife's still not around to unstrap me. Boh pian, ring the bell and want to complain about her already. Called hub to ask him to come down. The midwife finally came and asked me to go to a room for a VE. Along the way, I was hit by a super mega contraction and I felt like I had to pee.

0705: She checked and declared.. TADA!! You are fully dilated! I was like.. oh.. I NEED an epidural! Imagine me saying this with a screaming voice
happy.gif
Of course she rejected me lah.

Still managed to walk over to the labour ward and dump myself onto the bed. Was thinking if the hub doesn't arrive soon, he's going to miss the whole 'show'.

0715: Hub arrived! He was in time to help hold on leg and push my head towards my chest while I screamed, grunted and pushed. Doc was there making jokes about first-time mum, no epidural and fast dilation. Forgot what the heck he was talking about anyway.

0730: Felt like splitting into half. Just heard them shout.. STOP and pant. With the next push, the baby was out. BIG SIGH OF RELIEF! The baby is here!

delfine,

I like your birth story. Hope mine could be like yours. Came as a surprise.. then gradual pain and fast and smooth delivery... Congrats!

delfine,
i also like your birth story ... good that you went natural w/out epi. Actually, it was considered a pretty "short" labour since the pain lasted for 2 hours odd, right? i hope my labour story can be like yours too =)

shelled and michelle,
no leh, didn't tell the gender to my parents or mil. shall keep it a secret until i give birth!

enxuan
iphone only available at singtel. itwoplus is refering to existing plan that im using. for lower plan will have to pay for much higher price. decided to take 32gb since only pay for $49.

delfine
wow ur birth story is pretty cool yah... i like the part where u said u need epidural and u were already fully dilated! wish mine can be like that too!! short and sweet!!

delfine
wow.. ur birth story very short n sweet! i hope mine will be like this too.. but not happen in the middle of nite.. cos difficult for me to get to hosp... lol

u really felt a "pop" when ur water bag broke?? :p

went for gynae visit today. told gynae my decision dat i will go for csec even if my warts recover. her advise is tat it's better. cos no lisions doesnt mean no warts too. did my crt today, showed tat i have some irregular contractions. total of 3 in 30mins. bb is 2.9kg close to 3kg at 36wks6days =)

itsy> haha. is like tat one. like i sit for more den 30mins on de floor. wah. got a big prob trying to stand up. ahha. is like a lao ah mah =p

jess> haha. ya lo. oredi bought most of the stuffs. so taka fair nothing much. i wanna buy de 3 for 12 bucks bb clothes. wah. but sun i went. alot of inconsiderate pple. wife choosing, den de husband so irritating. take one basket put along de tray tat we see de clothes. den like cannot move one. give up buying in de end.

de huggies diapers not much discount actually. pull up pants almost same as supermarket. huggies ultra slightly cheaper though, abt 2bucks discount per pack. but if u compare with bp in forum, den only cheaper by 20cents =p but if u buying huggies, do checkout their website on wat de barcode can exchange for.

hollow> keke. in my case diff, i going for ml as late as possible. but not tat i doin csec on 090909. i go for ml on 090909, den mc on 080909, cos i got checkup on tat day too =p still need go office on 070909, cos i haven do my handover

delfine> keke. ur whole labour wasnt long. lucky u. hope all mummy can have delivery as smooth as urs =p

sandwich> wow. she nv pester u to know meh. haha

Still haven't heard from Sheryn. Hope she's doing alright!

I went for my checkup yesterday and at 36w4d, baby is 3.1kg. Doc said big baby and would exceed 4kg if carry till 40w. Sigh! he suggested either induce or c-sect as he's afraid that the shoulders might be difficult to get through if wait till full-term. Well...now just have to wait till next checkup next week.

flower4
Just do what is best for you and baby. After all you still will have your little ones. To me so long we give birth before will be consider a 'complete women'.

1 Sept was my due date and nothing, not dilated at all, hardly any contractions, none I can feel but baby is engaged. So Dr Khi has given the option to induce. Part of me wants to wait but since the baby is already big, it's either induce soon and a higher chance of a vaginal birth or wait and a higher chance of a C-sect.
sad.gif

Prayed so hard for the placenta to move up and it finally has, so I really don't want to go thru a c-sect, the healing time is just too long for me.

Still not feeling a 100% on inducing, argh.

As "repeat" moms, I guess we just don't want you to have any regrets regarding your 1st childbirth experience. It's a very special milestone for any woman, and you should be able to enjoy it the way you wish. I hope you and your hubs can reach a favorable conclusion soon, and that your baby will be born happy & healthy regardless of outcome.

Marie
Who knows? Later tmr you pop leh! On the morning of 16th August, ard 10+am, I was just lamenting that Keegan won't be born in time to be his daddy's birthday present, then within an hour my waters broke.
lol.gif
With babies, there's no telling what will happen! Maybe you'll pop within the next few days!
happy.gif

Sarah
I have the same mentality as you, but I guess mine is more rigid. I feel a woman is only "complete" after she goes thru the rites of natural childbirth. Thus my total disappointment about my 2 c-sec... But hey, at least I know what contractions feel like when they're 2-3 mins apart and lasting 35secs long! So at least I can commiserate when mommies complain labour very painful mah.
lol.gif

michelle
ah.. i went ntuc extra just now, size S 44 huggies (i think) is at $12.95.. i dun rember how much was it at the fair.
but i read all huggies size smaller.. dunno if my fatty boi can fit or nt, a bit scare to buy too much.
yea saw the redemption scheme available.. only for huggies.. dunno y pampers or other brands dun have such promos.

yea.. a lot of inconsiderate pple there.. putting their shopping baskets everywhere blocking the walkways somemore. n the exhibitors oso "gong" shld have a wider walkway for pple to walk cos mostly are with babies or preggies..

Ling
aiya.. was thinking to go since dropping by taka tmr wor.... sigh....

Marie
it might happen later or within next few days :p

michelle,
i just cut out the three huggies barcodes for you. should be able to drop them in your mailbox tomorrow evening, as i'm going to my mum's place. sent my boy over to camp at her place tonight because he has HFMD. i already took leave on monday to take care of him, while husband took leave today. luckily my mum volunteered to take leave tomorrow. then it's my turn again on thursday. really hope that he can be certified OK and get back to school soon, else taking leave is such a hassle for me now, since i want to 'preserve' all my leave so that i can spend more time away from the office after i've given birth.

regarding my mil, she always respects me and my decisions. also helps that she's not a hands-on grandma when it comes to babies/toddlers, so she chooses not to interfere in the way i handle the pregnancy and all. on sunday i announced to her and my parents that after i've given birth, i want to rest and breastfeed in peace, so i don't want any of them to visit me at the hospital. they all said ok. she asked me what i planned to eat after i gave birth. i told her just the same as i did after #1's birth - corn flakes with milk, sandwich, oats, whatever is convenient for someone who's caring for a bb alone at home. she didn't have any comments, just went back to playing mahjong with me and my dad. according to my husband, her main intention of dropping by at my mum's place on sunday was not to visit him/me/#1, but cos she can't find kakis to play mahjong. hahaa! but i don't mind lah. she likes to play mahjong, then we just play along with her and keep her happy loh.

kam,
just visited your blog. woah, you've posted a very long and informative entry abt breastfeeding. i can imagine that it's super useful for first time mummies who wish to breastfeed. hope baby xi yu's jaundiced has cleared up already!

Hello all and Congrats to all mummies who have popped! =)

I was in this thread in the earlier months of my pregnancy but had to drop off due to busy work schedule.. now on my 2nd day of ML so have the time to start on this thread again! Hope it's not too late!

My EDD is 11 Sept and it's just so weird and exciting to think that I'll be popping anytime soon!

Chellechelle, could you please update my profile from the list? I'm expecting a little princess (guilty of being on of the 9 TBC. oppsy) and now staying in Serangoon North. EDD also changed from 21 Sept to 11 Sept. Thanks Thanks!

130am liao, but i can't sleep!!!!!
sad.gif

went to see gynae in the evening, he said since my EDD is next wed and if baby does not come out within these few days, he gave me an option of inducing on next tue night, so baby will arrive on the EDD 090909.

just my personal opinion... think it is perfectly fine to have induced labour for the safety of baby. my colleague told me that his friend lost her baby at 40 weeks, because she refused to listen to gynae to have induced labour, she wanted to wait for another few days, but who knows the baby was gone. so sad leh. not to scare u all lah, but this is a true story... so the morale of story is: safety first

waiwai,

thats so sad! but how come? what exactly was it due to that she lost the baby? is it the umblical cord got tangled? i've been very paranoid ever since i read this article a couple of mths back abt this lady who lost her baby at wk36. since then i make it a point to be still several times a day so that i can feel my bb.

delfine,

i felt very excited when i read your birth story. keke..especially the part where u screamed and said "I NEED an epidural". u must have felt like murdering someone then. :p

regarding Brazilian Waxing...

mummies who have done this before, how many days before edd do u recommend doing this ah? i'm kinda scared the pain will induce my labour :p so still thinking if i should go or not. sacali my water bag burst right after she strip me.

Morning Mummies,

Baby is 3 day old now.. hehe... Alot of rashes, doc say is normal and will goes off in few days time. So far no Jaudice. Everything is fine.

Mama also feeling ok.. can walk around, walk to nursary too. hehee. Will only feel pain the moment i stand up then after tat ok le.

Yesterday night, my hubby was telling me...

hubby : aiyohhh, can u hear the baby cry so loud.
me : yalor...
me : the cries sound veri familiar leh, like our bb
hubby : oh no.. the cries getting nearer...

the door open, the nurse push in our bb, he is too hungry =P

Morning mummies
hope mamato6js will have a short and sweet labour..

hmm the thread seems to get quieter and quieter as mummies go to pop...

myfavchoco
gd to hear you are fine. the conversation is so cute leh. Happy feeding ur bb!

waiwai
wow can imagine how sad the mum is having to lose the bb at the final stage. Any reason why she lost her bb??

bernice> haven do ctg? can try to c if u r startin to have contractions. den will know if bb will come out early?

marie> better make ur decision fast. try not to think of too many things. juz do wat u feel like doing n go ahead with ur decision.

jess> keke. i nv buy S from bb fair. so i not too sure. i went straight to get M size ultra. n it's cheaper den supermarket by abt 1.50 per pack nia. so basically juz wana get 2packs to fill up to 200bucks of spending. but see buy 3packs free some pull up pants, den decided to get 3 again -_-"

aiyah. i dun mind if those pple are like really choosing things. but tat guy super inconsiderate. he's juz waitin for his wife. n must b his hand tired, he decided to rest his basket on de display rack. den block everyone view n way. stand one side for goodness sake -_-"

sandwich> oh no. hope ur boys HFMD is not too serious. okie. u drop them in my mailbox. but can put in a small envelope or maybe wrap in a A4 size paper n fold up? cos i suspect my mailbox to be super messy. hubby refuse to go open letter box for wks -_-" hha. u haven give me ur mum's unit number. so i haven drop de book yet. in fact, i haven even cut it from the pack -_-" will do so tonite if i'm not too late.

lol. heng my both side parents oso ok. nv interfere too much in de way we want things done. so it's pretty lucky for us =p

waiwai> oh my. how come deliver late will lose bb? wat happen?

kiki> yaya. me too. now if bb dun move for >3hrs, i 'll disturb de hell out of him till i feel him moving =x

mamato6js> jiayou
happy.gif

myfavchoco> keke. so cute. how come u stay in hospital for so many days? my doc say if i go for csec on 090909, i can be discharge noon of 110909.

milkyway : don't stress don't stress. Isn't your boss the one who said she would pray you don't deliver early? Then you tell her to trust her God and to stop stressing you out!

Waiwai : The First Few Years at Paragon has a Britax Boulevard CS for $539 (special rate). Hubby and I finally decided to buy it. http://www.britaxusa.com/car-seats/boulevard-cs
It was selling like hotcakes though, so you may wanna call them and ask if they still have any. It only comes in 4 different seat cover designs though.

mamato6Js : jiayou jiayou! This should be really fast.

delfine : you're so lucky! your labour was so SHORT! I'm jealous. =0)

flower4 : pmed you

purpleclouds : I went for my checkup yesterday at 36+3 weeks and baby's 3.0kg! But my doctor didn't suggest inducing or anything. I hope my little one doesn't come out too large!

Felibaba : you live in Serangoon N too! Maybe we'll get a chance to meet up after the little ones are out and the confinement month is over.

Hi all, just back from Gynac checkup yesterday at 36weeks. Baby weight is at about 2.5kg. Was hoping my boy can come out soon. So tired. Went to taka fair after that, didn't buy much just got a 3pcs for $12 shirt for my baby.

Congrates to all mummies who had popped. Was wondering when is my turn.

Hi all mummies, happen to pop by tis thread. I am oso due in Sep. EDD is 11sep..same as Felibaba. expecting my 2nd baby boy. so far no signs of labour yet. bb was 2.8kg at 37wks.

Mamato6js - Wishing you a smooth delivery!

Michelle I havent done CTG before, dont think I have contractions ley..but sometimes got stomach hardening and tightening feeling for a short while then no more liao. But nowadays my stools are pretty soft wonder if its due to the loosening of the pelvic muscles?

Angel - Wow, our babies are almost the same weight but mine is a girl! She is one greedy girl! Within 2 weeks, she put on 400g while I put on 100g.

I think my gynae prefers small babies as they are easier to come out and less trauma for both mother and child. He said average Asian women babies are around 3.2kg at full term and that Angmo women can have 4kg babies because they have bigger hips. I think most likely he will suggest inducing me when I see him next week.

Hi Mummies,
Just want to share some tips on bfeeding to u all
happy.gif
Hope it will come in handy:

To my experience, u need to get the pump before baby comes out. At least a good single electric pump or a good manual pump. Best is the dual Medela pump. A lot of mummies swear it makes a difference when u have a good pump in hand. If cannot afford, look out for second hands. The 1st month is very very important. it is the only time u can build up your supply. After the 1st month, i'll take 1 or 2 months times to increase supply and very tough. Having a pump in hand will help heaps. During the 1st month we will experience lots of engorgements. This is the chance for us to latch and pump (around 2 hours apart) to increase supply. Read that at evening, we may need to even do it hourly as suplly will be lower at this time compared to morning. Ways of encouraging supply during the first month includes:

1) While latching on one side, pump on the other side at the same time. Is a way of telling the brain u have twins to feed. The brain will adjust the supply accodingly.

2) When baby finished sucking (either 1 or 2 sides), pump and access milk (bear in mind that the hind milk will come in doplets form and not spraying form - pump and squeeze till no more drips). If there is another let down (a tinggling sensation), milk will come out as fountain again

3) When pumping, it's better to squeeze of massage the breast to yeild more milk. For me, because supply is always at the border line, I have to squeeze every single time when I pump, else I won't have enough for baby.

4) Be positive and relax. Keep telling yourself milk is coming and is enough. Negative thoughts and worries will reduce milk supply.

5) Drinking hot drinks or soup before pumping can help stimulate milk.

6) Hot tower placed on breast will help relieve engourgement and stimulate milk.

7) Do not drag feedings else u are telling the brain u don't need so much milk. This is how mummies who decided to stop bfeeding do. They will drag the feeding time hourly till no more milk.

8) Always empty your breast fully each feed or pump. It's very important cause u are telling the brain u really need the milk till the very last drop. When I latch my baby, I do not need to squeeze my breasts as bb's suction is the best in stimulating milk. It is the most relaxing method for me in breastfeeding. When the breast is empty, u will feel your breast very light and feels saggy.

9) When u are in the hospital, learn all the 3 technicques of latching on. Craddle hold, football hold and lying down position. All these 3 postions will come in handy when we have engourgements. Aim baby's chin towards the lump. This way it will clear the blockage.

10) After pumping or latching, no need to clean the nipples till next feed. squeeze a little breast milk (not too much, just apply thin layer) and apply it on the nipple. Air it till dry to avoid nipple sourness or problems. Breast milk heals wounds on the nipple if leave to dry. Time to time, u'll need to clean the nipple with olive oil or nipple cream to remove any recedue blockage on the nipple. Apply cream or oil on a facial cotton and wipe the nipples.

11) During the 1st month, its normal that baby need to latch on 1-2 hours apart. They will be times where bb will sleep 2-3 or even 4 hours in a streach. If bb sleeping this long, we have to pump out the milk.

12) How do u know if bb is drinking or just treathing the nipple like a pacifier?
- if u can see bb gulping in rhythym, bb is drinking. If bb is not drinking, its just light or shallow suckling. If bb fell asleep half way, tickle the ear or lower lip or the top of the feet. If still sleeping, try changinf bbs diaper to stimulate bb again.

13) If u experience any problems in nursing, call the lactation consultant for advice. There was one time I had a very painful ulcer on the nipple. The lactation consultant adviced me to break the ulcer with a sterilized needdle. Believe it or not, it works.

Here are some more tips:
1) Bbs early hungry signs: bb smacking lips or putting or rubbing her hands on her mouth. Dont feed only when bb cries, may result in getting sore nipples if latch on a crying bb. Watch out for this early signs to achieve more relaxing latching.

2) Skin to skin contact can calm a bb.

How to know if bb is getting enough milk? - after the 3 or 4th days
- bb would have 3-7 stools (2.5cm or bigger in 24 hours.
- Should gain 170g (6 ounces) per week or 28g (1ounce) a day.
- Minimum 113 - 142g (4-5 ounces) per week
- Bfeed 8-12 times in 24 hours. (during the 1st month) - this is a guide for stimulating supply.
- Cluster feeding can happen in the evening as supply may be lower in the evening.

yah lor that's the same boss lor.. sigh.. anyway finished handling over the mischellaneous stuff to my colleagues. left some ling ling sui sui to clear up b4 10 sept and gotta start my presentation slides soon then i can go on leave in peace... but my boss still ask me to leave my hp on so they can call me anytime during office hrs.. sounds so disgusting leh.. i doubt i will have time to pick up any calls... will be busy coping with my bb lah. haha

mamato6js
Congrats!! wow a big bb leh.. and wat a short labour u have!! so envy..

Adeline lye- Strep B test is nt compulsory, but my gynae did it for me at 37wks. result tested +ve. currently i m on anti-biotics and oso had 1 pill of insert. had to inject anti-biotics into drip during labour as well. but gynae told me not to be too concerned abt this, so i m nt worried.

Mamato6js-congrats on your safe delivery!

Saphira-tks for ur useful tips!
