baby's first month celebration,
i purchased and delivered the cakes to my mum/mil slightly after 1 month. but i held the lunch buffet for my colleagues + friends close to 2 months after #1 was born. reason being cos i wanted the celebration to coincide with me and my husband's b-day. i think if you're modern, can hold it on any day that you want. cos it's a happy joyous occassion and nobody is supposed to pick any bones out of it.

think better explain to you how we squeezed into the car. We pushed down the front passenger seat. The drawer took up both front and back seat. Hope you can imagine how it's like.

True, guests may not be able to find toilets if you hold the celebration at the pavillion.. Then got to go up to your house to use. Think can get someone to help with the cleaning up after the event. I think close family members &amp; relatives like mum and siblings wouldn't mind helping to clean up the house cos they know you will be tired out by the end of the day. =)

I only did 2 wks confinement with #1, so this time i'll stick to 2 wks as well. I cannot stand eating confinement food for too long, or i'll probably go crazy. And my hubs has got 2 wks paternity leave, so it should be fine if he really wants to do it.

Most mommies will get bigger breasts once the milk comes in, then the size will go down after milk supply stabilises. U may be able to just use bra extenders during the early days of BF when milk come in, or you may not. It really varies leh. For me, I bought 38C nursing bras when I was 36wks preg, then when milk came in, TOTALLY cannot wear at all cos the cups not big enough to cover my nehneh! Ended up had to buy 2 pcs of 40C bras. I just keep using and washing those 2 until my milk supply stabilise and I can wear back the 38C.
 
Someone is doing reno in the unit above mine and it's driving me CRAZY!! They have been drilling nonstop since 11am and I feel like SCREAMING!! It's so noisy that I have to cover my ears just to be able to hear my hubs over the phone lor!

My hubs told me to bring Joshua and go out, but Joshua is still having runny nose and shouldn't be going out lor! And I don't see why I should need to spend money to go out, and struggle with Joshua (cos he gets cranky when he's sick). ARRRGGGHHH!!!! SO PEKCHEK!!

My HB also same! Keep making me luff. But hor, surprisingly during yest's lesson, he was very serious. Dunno whther issit he's stressed over taking care of BB, or he just learns better with OJT vs just sitting there &amp; looking at slides haha.

He was practising the swaddling &amp; nappy in a corner coz he was too shy to sit amongst the rest. Askd me to go some small corner with me &amp; hide there. Like thieves like that haha.

My hb has a big grp of close friends, i come from a big family.. so definitely either need a big space else break into 2 sessions. LOL! Initially did thought of getting a chalet but it's quite costly... have to spend that extra amount.. unless money drop from the sky then still not so bad... hahaha... but still thinking of how bah... my in laws too pantang already loh!!

I have no idea. In laws pantang issue i supposed??? SIGH. People use mouth to say things VERY EASY... the one doing very stressful... they won't be bothered loh! YOur location same like mine loh.... just that might be all in a day! At least if we put the ang ku kuehs and red eggs there, can put as many as we like! And it's definitely much cheaper because we don't have to pay for the extra packaging etc that were sold outside... they want to bring home how many eggs and ang ku kuehs also can! Hahahahaa... my family easier to settle... it's always the in laws' side... nobody to help!

Anyone's EDD going backwards for about one week? Though it's just an estimation and not very accurate, but somehow i am still so curious about it... LOL!

Slight ginger I can tolerate lah, but so far all the confinement dishes I have are overloaded with ginger. They say it gets rid of wind wor... I only end up picking out all the little pieces because I get super grossed out if I bite into any. Then I will just stop eating the whole dish.
 
just came back from gynae. this naughty boy has turned his whole body since last visit, now he is breech! but gynae said he still has time to turn if by 36 weeks no turn head down gynae will do a manual turn for me in clinic.

baby weighs at 1.9kg at 30wk3days. cant see his face again gynae didnt manage to capture 4d of his face only his foot and he said he's got giant feet!

blur me i tot i put on 3kg plus already but actually i only put on 1.5kg. phew! the nurse has given me my admission letter just in case of emergency. aiyoh now i more kan cheong, cos it means im left with few more weeks to go!!
 
oh yes gynae will put me on antibiotics for my strep b starting from next visit i think. He said i got it the last time so he wont even think of testing me as it can come back again so just go on antibiotics to be on safe side.

those of u who hasnt gone thru the strep b test should be doing it after 32 weeks i think

U dun need to worry too much abt EDD. Coz the BB's size now is only wn estimate. The BB is all squashed up in the tummy, hard to accurately determine. So depending on the estimation, the EDD can change back &amp; forth.

But anyway, most BBs dun arrive on EDD. So u agar agar can only expect the BB to arrive ard that day. Dun care abt the scan's EDD liao lah.

I also read somewhere that EDD calculated in the first 3 mths is the most accurate.

Oh.. ur gynae can do manual turn. Think that skill is getting lost with all the younger ones.
 
Hi ling, they dont have 5-tier Algo, only 4-tier. I got my Confinement Lady from preimer confinement. not sure whether good or not. People told me malaysian are more committed than Singaporean and cheaper too. Malaysian 1900+168+10 application processing fee. For Singaporean $2500!

Your boy really very cheeky leh! I'm hoping my boy also turn all the way around by the time i go checkup this Friday, from breech to anterior. But it's all up to him!

1.5kg is very very decent! I only wonder how much more I would have put on by Friday...

I miss pig's blood. I actually had craving for it this pregnancy, but ppl don't sell it anymore, so I have no choice.

yah cos none of my babies r breeched but then again gynae said dun panic first cos if he can turn from head down to 360 deg head up he still has time to turn head down again. aiyah praying he will turn soon lah! gynae said one big kick and he should turn already. if not he will do manual turn but it might result in early labour thats why he doesnt wanna do it so soon.

Hi all, so long never log in, seem like 2 mummies have already given birth. Rest well.

I have just book my confinement with the GPLS.

My hubby is back from US and so far so good (free on the H1N1 virus).

After reading all the post here, i notice that i still haven't get anything for my baby yet. No milk bottle, haven't wash the baby clothes, no baby cot, no breast pump etc yet, basically nothing at all.

Very excited, cos tonight i am going for checkup. Hope marcus is doing fine.

Ask u mummies, does your tummy groan in the night(i mean make loud noise at night, the sound is like when u very very hungry than your tummy will start to produce those kind of noise)

I experience this quite a few time late in the night. it was real loud and it was like on and off. I thought what was happening. But somehow i don't feel hungry. So i ignore it and sleep again. The worst part is that seem like i don't feel hungry or full now. Guess the tummy expand too much that i lost the feeling.

Actually a lot og "piggy" stuff are not being sold anymore. A lot of the good food from the old days are just not avail b/c the old skills are lost. Pity hor?

Yeah lor, no need to panic. If he is breeched, u have no choice. If he will turn ard by himself, he will do it. Panicking may make matters worse.

Speaking of turning. I think my boy is playing.. one moment I can feel him being vertical, the next moment he seems to be horzontal again. Unless his butt is so big that he will topple over to horz position everytime he tries to be head down??? hahaha

Depends. I heard some pple say their BBs only turn down ard week 32+ or even week34. Anyway if need to panic, gynae will tell u haha.

Was wondering how long our baby can use their baby cots for? The normal 28" by 52" ones which can be converted to those junior beds...

Oh, and I saw a thread on BabySafe Mattress...is Kiddy Palace still having the sales for that Mattress? Anyone has bad experience with this mattress?

No bad experience with BabySafe mattress so far. My #1 has been using it for 1.5 yrs now. We had to change the last one cos it was a foam mattress and the foam was disintegrating! The BabySafe is so far so good. Going to buy BabySafe for #2 also cos we're really quite pleased with it. My boy also don't wake up covered in sweat cos I supposed it is more cooling than foam.

the Avent bottom balm and pigeon napkins can buy from outside.. but both sold out at jpt kiddy palace liao...

maybe next time u try to tell bb "good nite, sweet dreams, time for bed. dun move and play now, tmr we con't to play together" then get ur hubby to say good nite too and give nite nite kiss to bb :p
sometimes it work for me when bb move too much before sleep :p

the test i talking abt is the group b strep. its a kind of bacteria that is harmless to us but is harmful to babies. they r present at the birth canal area so if u hvg natural birth and u have this bacteria and gynae didnt know and didnt treat, it may pass to baby and may cause serious brain damage or even death. i have a gd frd who lost her newborn to this bacteria 5 hrs after birth cos her gynae didnt test her. for more info u can do google search cos my explanation is in simple words :0)

I also not sure it's the TOWEL or WRAP but definitely it's the same piece of big cloth we saying.. maybe can use as both?? Erm massage is before u wanna BF u do it...means seconds before u BF u massage it...everytime u wanan BF....
But for now.. u can do it if u want to.. i think no harm...

so that lesser chance of cracked unless bb really bite ur nipples la....
hahha.. i'm already beginning to apply breast gel and massage for a min after bath each nite..
then shun bian put the stretch mark cream...

And i think yes, breast will get bigger during BF..
esp when its engorged... hehe...

Else if its just the date printed on ur scan, its just an estimate based on the bb's size.. it prob just means ur bb's current size is a little small??
My EDD did became 2 weeks earlier as printed on the scan based on her head circumference etc... but its just est... computers are programmed in such a way that they link certain measurements to certain weight.

i asked my "TEACHER" during last week's lesson...she said for 1st child, normally will engage before due...
ard 37 weeks maybe..but it DIFFERS from person to person....
So...hard to say also..some may not even engaged at all...

but for 2nd child onwards...apparently, it seems that the baby will engage only during child birth...
means in the delivery ward....
thats what she said...
i also abit blur on that.... i wonder why only 1st child will auto engage too.. hehee..

btw, im quite sure J&amp;J top to toe is not no rinse formula leh. definitely must rinse off one. but i think what TMC means is u just drop few droplets of top to toe into the bath water and just bath baby, no need rinse baby off. cos bathing newborn is a troublesome ritual. by the time u finish soaping baby then change water then rinse baby, wah u be super dead tired!

i ask her abt the wipes, she say can use 2 weeks to 1 month. just use the bb bath wash (no need bb laundry detergent) to wash the wipes and hang dry lo.
hopefully she bring in too, so can wash in advance la. yea, avent &amp; pigeon can buy outside..

i didnt get anything during class too. Cos my hb say no need to buy so early leh.. and since can get at TMC parentcraft i can get when i go for my gynae appointment.

btw Kiddy palace is having an offer for the Avent body wash at $10.20 or $10.50 (can't rem the exact), much cheaper than $14.50 that Mrs Wong is selling at. The bottom balm has no discount even for member. It's nett price at $18.50.

My gynae tells me not big not small,on the average when i always ask him the same thing during each visit. LOL! I trust him cos he's my mummy's gynae, very experienced and calm. Each time i see him, i don't get so frustrated or irritated as compared to the gynae i seen at KKH which often makes me boil during each visit. LOL! I saw it on the scan loh. The dates are like all in 20s leh. SO i'm not sure loh. THink shouldn't be any problem hor. Maybe my baby a little small bah.... my gynae also tell me cos of my size, too big also difficult for me. But i did put on extra weight. I guessed must be the tons of buns and breads i eat for months for breakfast and lunch..... Engage that part is quite true.. usually 1st child will engage before delivery.. subsequent child will engage during labour.. that's what i read about too.. but maybe some people special?? Hahaha...

my gynae told me it pays to be cautious so he will test for all his patients whether its normal or c section. he said why make this costly mistake? which is true lor. my frd's baby is a healthy 4.3kg baby but becos of the mistake of gynae of not testing her, she lost the baby. in fact, in US and UK this test is a compulsory test but i think its optional in spore. its just like a pap smear, take a swab test and send it to lab. u can ask ur gynae abt it the next time u see him lor.

Strange. My gynae never mentioned this to me either. I will have to remember to ask her during my checkup on Friday. Will be really heartbreaking to deliver a healthy full-term baby only to lose him/her to Strep B lor!

i took the strep b test for my #1. i didn't have strep b, but a mummy who gave birth on the same day as me (my neighbour in the ward) did. the bb turned out fine because she she discovered the infection before delivery and could intervene before hand. i definitely agree with you that it's better to be safe than sorry even if the infection is not a common one. your friend must have been devastated. was it considered a case of malpractice for the gyne?

kiasu better than bochap right. Hahahahaa. I rather be well prepared for the items to be used especially during 1st month cos nobody is helping me with the confinement except my hb if he is able to take so many days of leave. 2 packs of 10 pcs in total can last for a month?
