hi everyone,

so sorry i have not been following the thread closely as my baby is down with fever, cough and flu.
I've been very tired as i do not as enough sleep as bb woke up in the middle of the night.. and also been checking her temperature.
she cough til she vomited so much.

Can someone enlighten me if i should switch on the aircon to lower down my gal's fever temperature? my husband told me that but i was reluctant.

sweetmama: when shayna had viral fever (up to 39degrees), i turned on the air con in the whole house... NOt ice cold lah but at least cool enough.. If the environment is hot, babies will feel even hotter and harder for the temperature to drop..

i asked around my friends, all give different opinions. some say on, some say let bb sweat it out, not even switching ON the fan.

so im kinda caught in between.
aircon = western style,
sweat it out = chinese style.

my gal has been taking paracetamol for 3 days, and taking 3 oral medication and 1 droplet saline. feel so bad for her.. everyday i'm fighting with her to inject the medicine to her mouth.
 
sweetmama: one tips for u, use alchol [外科用酒精]to tap on baby body especially front n back,not forgeting the hand n legs, lighting tap the forehead also. this will help to dispense the heat from the body. the alchol r those nurse use before the give us injection, not drinking alchol.

high fever :
use cold water to have a quick bath, take note baby will not like it. But no choice this is to dispense all the heat. 2mths ago my gal also fever till 39degree..

my PD told me to on air-con. it's perfectly fine. will cool them down. anyway, i think sponge them will help a lot to bring the temp down instantly.

sometimes fever will stay for a week. stay calm so long not high i.e over 39.
 
cloudme> huh? frozen ah? lazy leh. i prefer the pre-grilled ones. i tot it's pre packed into one piece one pack?

thanks for all the reply..so it seems that everyone has a different opinion..

i came out with this conclusion.
my gal has cough and phlegm (green phlegm). thus, i think it may not be good to switch on aircon.

if bb is only down w fever, maybe aircon might help to lower down the body temp.

hmmmmmmmm....

T-collection, so who is in charge of posting out? i'm staying in commonwealth? anyone who stay near there? sorry for not keeping track the collection as i ws busy at work and have no time to check at night.

ya lor... i heard also scared. than the father get the FU to put at his bed.

cos my boy boy like that for abt 3-4weeks liao le.. jst don want to sleep his bed. somemore i training let him sleep on his own. but during 3-4 weeks he sleep at sarong. at bed jst cry.

i ask my hubby said if harmless ok, cos maybe a while will go off, but if harm than jialat. SCARRRRRRYYYYYYYY and horrified. But i ask my hubby is it cos of me? cos last time i got miscarriage b4 leh. but my hubby said other ppl. so don kw... alamak..

wow tt sound scary.. but hor i got friend whos baby dun like to sleep in cot 1 leh when she put bb on mattress/sarong the bb ok...so maybe the bb too used to sleep in sarong dun 1 bed? dun worried too much first maybe u try put him back tosarong see if he can sleep w/o disturb?
 
sbb... is your baby ok now ? sound scary leh..

fever: i use cold water because there is one time i saw the doc doing this to a fever baby, they even put ice inside to make the water very very cold..
but must slowly slowly, dap dap, then put baby down,cause baby will feel very uncomfortable with cold water.

i also bought a pillow inside is water to let baby sleep on it. This method also learn from hospital.

t shirt: sweetmama, i'm at clementi/west coast.
if ok, i can pick up for u,when i collect mine from fatbobo.
 
Vivien, the water pillow, I also have them both big and small one. I used them when Kai was fever when he was young.

I was warned not to use icy water. So I always stick to warm water and the water pillows, so far serve me well.
 
fever> i read tat fever is not becos baby is hot. rather is becos baby is cold n have caught a cold. so before letting baby bathe, let him eat paracetomol say 30mins before the bath, so he does not get a cold n fever worsens.

i olways do tat. even at 3am when i feel tat his temperature is too high

Yesterday night okie liao. I only wake up 1 time at 3am. Always this timing.

Yesterday talk to FIL he said bb xiao qi (means more to pan dang). He said its those ppl who have abortion who carry d bb. But nowadays abortion rate so high so who kws right?

But I kw some of my friend who has abortion due to health reason and alamak, one friend said she even see her boy in the house. And she said the boy already grew up and nice boy. Haha... but I tried nt to think so much cos its only temporary.

I got one friend said when her girl is young, always give those scary screaming.

Yesterday he at least slept 5 hrs in bed, rest at sarong.

hmm so ur b can sleep better at sarong last nite? den i tink it becos of he too used to sarong liao.. actually i not a pantang person la dun quite believe:p cos my sis n friend who i know abort be4 also carry my bb during full mth or even be4 tt.. so far ok wor... sumtime dun even know if wat those fortune teller say true anot dun worry urself first monitor first?
