went yday afternoon to buy brown rice mee sua is OOS. something i want to share as well, they are hving soft launch of homemade ice cream made iwth organic brown rice, fruits and nuts, no heavy cream, no dairy, no eggs, no artificial flavouring, colouring or preservatives. me blur forgot to ask how much, i remember today S$1 off for every flavour ice cream. do hv free tasting too.

Wah! I cant imagine if my PIL will open my house day without informing me.
Nowadays they will visit without letting me know before-hand.
Last week I finally ask my MIL to call me when she leaves her place.
I can change and wash up first mah, cos usually at home I will just wear my ugly pj and no makeup.

just need to rant

baby has been extremely cranky the past few days - he only quietens when food is given, be it porridge, milk, biscuits etc. when withhold, he will cry non stop. - he rejects teethers, water, pacifiers. any idea what's wrong? i think it might be teething but his previous 8 teeth wasn' like this.

it's driving me nuts.

My maid has finally come last saturday and she's been good, has initiative. But i think she was very home sick as her handphone was kept by the agency for 1 week, she couldn't call home to tell them that she is safe. On the 2nd day, she cried and ask if she could use her handphone. I was shocked that she suddenly cry. I quickly gave her back her handphone and ask her to call home. She didn't call back so i thought maybe at night she will call. In the afternoon, she received missed calls in her handphone from her husband and she cried again. Then i realized she didn't have the calling card. I lent her my mobile phone and ask her to call with my zone1511. She's a nice person and i thank God for that, but i'm scared she'll cry again. I'm not sure if i do it the right or wrong way, i'm scared she'll cry again...

Babymaking:my bb also the same so cranky. He keeps on want me to carry. He will scan for me, so scary. If he playing happily with my hub, he is ok, but once he saw me, he will cry and want me to bao bao!then he immediately stop!No tears wan leh! or sometimes he will cry like so pitiful i have to sayang sayang him. And every first morning he must see me! so sticky!
 
yep, she must be home sick... quite poor thing, her kids are in secondary school, starting school today, she can't see them for 2 years, and for the first 7 months, only $20 salary...

hi joeey, he used to cry if carried by strangers, but now anyone can so long that person carry him walk here and there he is OK! Good thing is he is still very close to us, he can recognize us as we are the parents. I remeber early months he was sick and my nanny came to our house to see him, he dont wan her and cry and cry, but when we carry him to nanny house every morning he is still ok, but he will give you a blank look like telling you "why you put me here? hahaha

for me I will not let her keep her Hp after callin will ask her rtn the phone.. I will also tell her on goin she wan to call home she gotta buy her own card. Sumtime the more they call back the more homesick they become.. N they might take things for granted.. My Maid till now nv request us to let her cal home n she is quite gd also alr been with us for 7mth hopefully she can remain dis gd

my mil's 2 maids got hp leh.. my mil still can give them hp when their's spoilt.. but they got to pay themselves when they call home liao coz they got hp ma.. they used to use my fil's hp to call home..

I can understand that it is really a big knowledge for being a good employer. Too nice, worry they will take thg for granted and ask for more ... Too stringent, they will rebel or do somethg behind you ...

However, i learnt from an agency and they advise not to let maid contact home too often esp at beginning stage (transition period)... or u ask ur hubby be the 'black face' n u are 'white' one... sometimes need to play some tactics ... anythg u disagree to let her do, ask her check with sir lor ... then ur hubby just 配合 ...
 
joeey, perhaps you could deduct some of your maid's salary to buy her a SIM card. Its a good thing you let her call home. Without the contact with home, she won't be able to concentrate on work at all.

My maid's previous employer didn't allow a handphone or offdays. So this employer always say she is day dreaming and unhappy. But I would understand cos she has no friends or contact with outside to keep her sane. When she joined me, I was ok to let her use her hp at nite after her chores are done (I keep it in the day time). And I dun find that she is day dreaming or unproductive. After 1 year, I told her she can keep the phone in the day but only use at nite. So far so good, and she has been with me more than 2 years already. So at the end depends on the maid's character as well.

same like you I will let my maid use my hp to call back her home once a month when she has not finish paying her loan.

but after she finish paying her loan, she use her own $$ to buy SIM card herself.

I realized my mistake for previous maids was too good pay everything for them e.g clothes/shoes/SIM cards/bags whatever they like then they save all the $$ then after 2 years tell me they save enough $$ can go home no need to come out to work!! Haiz!

Now I am "smarter" just buy my maid the basic neccessity. Buy her new clothes/shoes during CNY, give present (her choice) during Xmas thats all. If she want more use her own $$ :p

he already get used to the routine, every morning, he'll go to the nanny's place. He's probably observing/thinking about the words you say to him. Now, can he understand bye bye or wave bye bye to you ?

Thanks michelle, piggy, babyja, nmummy, mich for your advice. I'll have to learn along the way. I hope she'll use her own $ to buy herself a SIM card. As long as she finishes her work at night, I would let her call/sms home. Yep, agree that alot depends on the maid's character.

My bb gal is still having diarrhea but less watery nowadays. Her bums are red and sore and she cries when she urine. She doesn't even let me wash her bums, cries and struggles alot. Yesterday, i carry her in front of the fan and air her bums. Then put lotsa diaper cream before putting on diapers.
 
hmm... i suddenly feel that my maid is really too spoilt. haha... she actually has 2 phones, one for msging and one for calling. and one of the phone is on my loan... but i think as long as she does her stuff n take good care of my babes, i am gonna close one eye ba.

Joeey: my babe had bad diaper rash last week too. so i followed my PD advice for my #1, i put in bath salt during bath, they might cry abit cos it might be a bit painful but it would heal MUCH faster after that. and after bath, i would apply a thin layer of the california aloe vera cream before applying desitin. Desitin is suppose to be a barrier cream and does not aid much to healing, even the ones with aloe vera has lil healing ability.

actually now i really think it is not nice to spoil them but on the other hand its good to treat them like family member so they will treat us the same right? Vice versa? Anyway I dun have issue with my maid she love my boys especially the bb alot. The only worry I have is she dun want to renew her contract after 2 years....IT is a major headache to find a good maid nowadays.
