(2009/07) July 2009 MTBs

mashy,

i read the baby centre article that too much apple juice can cause diaper rash. It's due to the high acidity. Dilute your child's juice with 1/2 juice, 1/2 water. Also, toddlers only need 2-4 ounces a day of juice anyway!

hbb - i think u r right abt keeping food in the mouth. bb likes to grab and eat biscuits. think she might turn into serial snacker. not cereal snacker. haha. lame.

hbb & pinky, compulsory to gif juice or not? if can don't give then don't give can or not? kitchen working counter no space liao, already so much barang

Lina,
if your LO never take much veg then take juice. Advise from my pd that at least 2 veg aday. Maybe if some electric maker no need to use everyday there keep into the cabinet to save some space for your kitchen counter, i did that.

lina
i personaly tink no need giv juice if they r eating fruits as well as drinkignenuff water. i nt sure bout the rationale behind giving juice leh.
edna take about 4 type of vege a day. so i tink shld b alrite.

bestberries
ya rite! the biscuit they snatch n chew(did they chew anyway?) and swallow so fast!

oic, thanks pinky

hbb, 4 veg is alot wor. edna poo ok? reason i ask is bon if takes too much veg will poo many times. one time i fed think 4 oz (2 meals same day), he poo 5 times!

lina ehh 4 type but nt alot for each kind leh.. for example she take 3-4stalk of asparagus, 4tbsp meash peas, some capsicum, some carrot, then tofu and chicken w fish and cheese. for her 2 main meals of porridge. bf she take 2 fruit (standard apple and pear)
her poopoo is ok. occasionally she will hav pilable poo instead of mashy one...

Lina,

You are welcome

hbb,

pinky

edna poo 1-2 times a day.. once in a long logn while she giv no poo or 3 poo! unpredictable!

HBB

I also never give my gal juice. I also think fruits are better than juice.
happy.gif
She takes milk or water. Instead of drinking juice, i rather she drinks milk.

OMG. Naomi just fell off from her CRIB. the floor is foam padded. I was so surprised. how can she manage to climb off her crib? it's at her chest level! apparently she just use her hand to lift her own body up and 'bungy jumping' head first to the floor. when I discovered her, she was laying down flat on the floor, face up. aiyooo. at first I thought she used the violet to climb up, but no, it's safely tucked at the corner near the wall side. haiz. this little monkey! she cried for the longest time in her life till she fell asleep.
I was thinking her kor kor is super active already. when first time we went to JG at 18M, everybody was cheering their kids to encourage them use the slides carefully during the outdoor play, when Nigel just slide BUT with the head down first, superman style, without thinking.
Tsk tsk....I really hope that Naomi can be more demure la.

Food.
Naomi seems to like meat more than fish. she rejects all fish especially those very fishy smell, even kurau. I have given egg yolk and tofu. other than that, what else can we give as protein in their food?

Cath, I have just received the pediped shoes from the BP (for the boy design). OMG, so cute! after you see this pediped, the rest of the brand like oshkosh are not cute anymore! Just now had a quick look at Isetan, the Clarks are quite nice. but they're expensive too. about $59 per pair (so it's the same as pediped). Only the boys shoes are cute, the girl ones are not so nice, I think. I bought 2 pairs of girl shoes from pediped online, which can last her till 24M. then I think from 2Y can change to cheaper one like crocs, or those from mothercare

re: Juice

I gave the whole fruit (apple, papaya or pear) by scrapping from a table knife. Skin no. The juice from the fresh fruit is very sweet too. Is this ok? Or do I have to mix with plain water?

Yesterday he tried durian, he likes
happy.gif
finally there's someone in the family who can share my love for durian :0

etirto
omg! time to lower the crib!!!!!!
edna crib is on her eye level... and i tink i will be setting it lower by the time she turn 1 yr old

YAYYYY!!! Finallyyy finallyyy... buhbye BG club! Just this morning said boh geh, tonite reached hm it's cutting out liao..
happy.gif
no wonder she was screaming in her sleep suddenly these few nites.. Last nite it was so bad until my maid said she tried vaporub, massage, give milk, gripe water & at the end dentinox! It wasn't cutting yet when she rubbed it on.. until this morning b4 shower when she 'brushed' her gum!

etirto

time to lower the crib. I also just lowered the crib to the lowest level when it reached my gal's armpit. The clever ones learn to climb out very quickly. Now my gal's in a 'cage' coz it's at the lowest. hahaha.

Peanut,
Oh, R too? At least now I don't feel so worried =p
Thanks =)

Etirto,
Oh my. Hope naomi isn't bruised and just had a bad scare. I just chased the husband to go lower MR's crib.

Good morning! May I know what will u give to your bb if u have no baby snacks with u when dinning at a fast food restaurant:
a.Kfc mash potato
b.bun from burger
c.fries without the crispy layer
d.uncook tomato
e.cheese
Many times I'm caught in a situation that we had to dine out suddenly and bb milk/food was not prepared. so far I have not introduce salt/light soya sauce/msg/sugar to his food and would like to stay away as long as I could.

peanut
ehh I only giv bread bt usually edna dn like soft bread. e rest of e stuff I dn giv due to oil/salt. I always bring her meal out nvm if I dining out anot. sometimes I bring out n bk hm again lol

Mashy/lamagier, yeah my hb lower the crib to the lowest point last night. now it's on her mouth level. dunno if she would manage to push her way up using her teeth power...hehehe...
when she standing and cruising outside the crib, sometime she will climb on the horizontal bar (the very bottom one, which holds all the vertical bar) and push her way up. Haiz! then she will scream because she can't go back by herself to the floor.

Today I have just open the leapfrog musical table. she's so amazed by it and went round and round. after she's bored, u know what she did??! She swing her fat thigh to the top on the table and attempted to climb onto the table! Goodness! when I stop her, she did another stunt. This time she stand with her legs spread and grab the table on both side AND tried to leave up the table by grunting MMMpppphh!OMG. my little Xena.
My hb said it's my gene! grrr. he said now he believe me when I told him I can ride my tricycle already when I was 1 yr old!

Linsu, yes, usually teething will have BIT of runny nose. A BIT only. if you see it last for several days, then it's not teething liao.

Chiyojade, I guess I must have been super excited about the pediped shoes. Imagine, yesterday I was so blur. I sent my drawing over to pediped email address in US! then my contractor was complaining why they didn't received my email with the drawing at all!

linsu

runny nose is sick or allergic. Not teething. Teething is just cry and unsettled. Anything that looks like they are sick simply means that they are sick eg fever, runny nose, cough, diarrhoea.

etirto - hope naomi is alright ! mine are learning to climb up the slide. yup, they like sliding down but they also like to climb right back up the same way. need to constantly bend down and help them along. dam tiring for my back. and they climb the 1st 2 flights of stairs last night, abt 15 steps. must be the rice they ate for dinner last night. super energetic. didnt sleep till 8pm.

pediped shoes - want to check out the real goods first before i buy online. any shops here sell ?

crocs for kids - hmmm, this is v popular, but notice all the accidents that get reported in the papers are involving this shoe ?

RE: Runny nose
I recall about a week before K's teeth cut out, he'll have runny nose. For the first 2 sets of incisors, I went to see PD, and the swab test revealed as negative for cold/flu. so when he cuts his 2nd 2 sets, I decided to save my money, and the runny nose cleared by it self just before the teeth cut out of the gum.

RE: BB Shoes
I see that K's feet is plum and fat it the front, even the bigger size shoes does caused pinch mark at the top of his feet (near the ankle), only the cutting from Crocs suits him, but I have yet to get any cos I also have some hand-me-downs Clarks which has size for width.
This is why I hate local shoes, makes our feet look like aliens by squeezing the toes together by making standard size width. Wish they realize every one's feet is diff and consider that when they manufacture shoes for little ones!

Kimberly, the clark and pediped shoes supposed to 'follow' and flexible enough so they won't squeeze the little toes together. they're super soft. I'm only thinking about crocs for size 2yrs old.

Besberries,
ya lor. so tiring. last saturday we attended bday party at JWT, she was so happy because I let her climb on the padded staircase. I still holding her for slide, because it's the little tikes type, plastic, still painfull if knock the head.

Pinky,
I bought from debabyshoppe BP, but again, her collection girl are not so nice ( I meant those with special price), the nice ones are the same retail price as mothercare and metro. only boys design are cute. alternatively, can order from pediped online but not sure about the shipping yet as I'm still waiting for it to come.

Etirto,

thank you
happy.gif

Kimberly,

My collegue told me that her son which now 9month week 1, now wearing 18-24month shoes. i was like ....... so big? i cannot belive that a 9kg boy got such a big foot..

etirto & kim
thanks for confirming my doubt!
happy.gif
Her runny nose started few days ago with slightly higher body temp.. Last nite when she took dinner, she din wanna open her mouth for me to see.. I was so excited wanna see the tooth cutting so I ended up putting my finger into her mouth & she bite! hehe..

Kim,
When you next visit the US, check out the Stride Rite stores (and outlets), they make wide (W) and extra-wide (XW) shoes for the LOs. I like that they have feet measuring service so you know the correct length and width to get. Although the designs are not quite fashionista but the shoes are good for pre-walkers and new walkers.

Noelle, thanks for the info, great help. We are going back in Jul.. Clarks' designs are also not trendy, but at least it helps to keep babies feet the way they should.

Recently my sister bought some Osh Kosh overseas and the soles of the shoes (outside) actually has lines and rings for us to place our baby's feet, and the rings and lines are actually "regions" to see if the shoes size is correct. Slightly diff from Clarks where the stores measures the feet of our little ones. I found these "regions" very useful.

I wonder if Shanna's teething also, but her flu's has been there for more than 1 week already, and recently she hasn't been sleeping well, cry & cry! =( Must be abit of everything! Sigh... when is this gng to end? She has nv cried like this when she's down with flu & cough / teething.

I offered bread, cheese at fast food rest. and recently fries at jack's place bcos their fries are much thicker and more 'solid' potato can be removed from the outer layer.

Kim, the labelling on the outer soles of osh kosh bb shoes can be found in singapore too. I bought a pair at takashimaya children department during cny.

bestberries
u can find pedipeds in "Shooz for kids" at PS. They have more choices there than at Mothercare.

peanut
I offered all those u listed except fries. mash potato only a bit cos they are salty & oily even without the sauce. in fact, this guilty mummy here has turned my girl into a rubbish truck. she eats anything, but in very small amt only. nt sure if it's due to my #1. i used to be no-no outside food, no biscuits... end up he has prob eating solids n picky now. but the new prob i faced with her is sitting in high-chair = food. she gets restless if no food for her to eat.
sad.gif

etirto
cute zena! but really got to watch out.
nowadays amanda sees ethan climb here n there, she also follows. when he sees her attempt to climb, he also follows. 2 monkeys entertaining themselves. just the other day, we forgot to latch my safety gate n the girl climbed up 1 flight of the stairs. my hb spotted her up on the landing and heart almost dropped out.
