Summer: yups, exactly, its so fun to see her behaving in such manner. After a short while she started 'eh eh eh' , else 'i i i i', then started crying if we continue to ignore her as her hand kenna stuck and she cannot moved either.

Language used at home with bb

Do u intend to speak Chinese or English to ur bb? Singlish not considered as it is BAD. Haha... I mean which language u use mostly.

My lecturer who teach us on "Teaching Hanyu Pinyin" told us that bb is a sponge n they will absorb all language that they hear daily even though they will onli start talking (as in making sense) around 1 year. So mind ur language. Haha...

She also say best is to let our children speak Chinese since young cause when they go to school, they have tons of opportunity to speak English and they will master both language better. But if u speak English at home, high chance that ur child will not speak much Chinese in school, as a result, he cant master Chinese language well. I agree cause I see many life example in my school. But I think wait till they reach nursery then teach English a bit late right.

Also, ur bb will tend to say mama or baba cause a sound is the easiest to pronounce. And when they say it out, it is not to mean MaMa or Baba. But when ur bb see that everytime he call Mama, u appear and everytime call BaBa, ur hubby appear, he begin to add meaning to his speech. Amazing right?

My bb has been talking non-stop. She will go lalalalala n wawawawa non-stop. It is so funny. So u all bb also like that? Go non-stop when talking?

My daughter also will cry out when her hand is stuck. Haha.. But I will demonstrate to her how to get her hand out. She will usually laugh and forget about her frustration of hand stucking there. Perhaps she is laughing at me behaving like an idiot. I often do demonstration. Like lifting head up, flipping, crawling n turning bodies, I demonstrate to my daughter cause I studied b4 that bb learn mostly through imitation. So have fun demonstrating to ur bb!

we usually speak Mandarin or Hokkien and Singlish..haha. Most of the time is Mandarin. My elder boy speak Mandarin and Hokkien but once he attend cc now most of the time is English.

for me, i intend to speak mandarin to bb (but i tend to forget sometime) because her grandparents all mandarin-speaking and since we are going to be Aus, it will be tougher for her to learn mandarin if we don't speak it to her.

What you said is right, bbs will slowly learn to pair up the words with the meaning, so that's why it is so important to label the real things to our bbs and also try to link their babbling (when they start to babble more after 6mth) to something meaningful consistently (e.g. dada = daddy or bal = ball). My bb is making all sort of noise too! She has moved from single sounds like "ee" and "mm" to slight combinations like "mm-ah". Heh its always enjoyable to hear bbs 'talk'. Early imitation skills will start to kick in around 6mths starting with sounds within their repertoire so i imagine the house will really start to become noisy

All the best in finding a good sch for your elder girl.. how old is she? Will you be driving? Then will be easier to fetch and send. We definitely cooking at home.. heh more economical since both of us not working for a while. They do have food delivery service from restaurants etc but i am not sure if they have the long-term meal service we have here.

So it is true that kids once they go cc or nursery, they speak English liao. I got ask my students why they prefer to speak English than Chinese in school, they say it is easier to speak English than Chinese.

In my house, we speak Chinese and if I hear my mum n hubby pronounce a word wrongly, I will correct them. 职业病, I guess. Also, my hubby very funny, everytime we talk about things we dun want our bb to hear, he starts talking in English. As if my bb wun understand like that.

ya my girl is taking Chinese as a 2nd lang in school. LUCKILY, my eldest is doing Chinese pretty well at primary 4 - her marks are usually above 80 .. considering we don't ever speak it at home. She started tuition one on one at K2 level .. now she doesn't have tuition but goes to Berries.

My 2nd girl is in K1 this year and every Friday comes back with Chinese writing as weekend homework .. wa lau, I can't make it lor if I took Chinese in school (I didn't) .. she had to write "go school" and "student" in chinese ... waaaaa I think I die if I had to write it. hahahaha. sure FAIL.

1 word say it all: ur gal is smart so no problem handling Chinese well. Cause I see many students struggle with chinese, even with private 1 to 1 tuition.

I got 1 P1 student last year. His mother spend a bomb putting him in good church school, I think. But he still fail Chinese. Imagine failing P1 Chinese. I try to help him but still din improve much.

pastillies, if u were in my shoes, u would oso do the same for ur bb. All mothers are 'wei da' be it to their own child or other ppl's bb. If bb is unwell, even if not our own, we will oso worry and extend our concern lor

Baby scream: Recently, my bb like to scream very loud because he want attention? angry ? excited ? bored? I closed our door but my neighbor still can hear he scream loudly and always ask what wrong with him. Anyone accounted the same problem and what to do with it ???

My nanny has given pao shen drink to my boy one day b4 his 6 in 1 job. It seem like better coz my boy only got slight fever for 1 day. Last time without pao shen drink, he having fever for 2 days ler.

hehe..I can meet yours for lunch during 12am to 2pm, just take 1 station down to Raffles place.
