anyone's bb is at infantcare/nanny drinking EBM?
how much does ur bb drink and at what intervals?

i know that we should be able to produce enough for bb (when latching) but when bb drinks EBM, they tend to be overfed.. i worry that the infantcare teacher will be overfeeding him coz they seemed to increase his intake more and more.. actually i purposedly provide only 4oz bottle so that they don't heat up too much EBM and waste it if bb not drinking..

echo, like u, i usually can't pump enough during work and had to always top up with night pumping(s).. btw, i also don't hv much freezer stash coz i latch on most of the time.. didn't even really "train" bb to take bottle.. bochap mommy.. but thankfully he takes bottle quite alright at IFC.. i guess he no choice.. :p

How many times do you pump in a day? I pump 4x at work and 1-2 times at night. How much milk do you leave with your IFC? My baby is at home with MIL, and I'm separated from her from 830am-630pm (10h). I usually latch her right before I leave, at about 8am, during breakfast, and right when I get home.

For my 10 hour separation, I leave behind 12oz, split into 4 bottles, 3oz each bottle. My MIL tells me that she does cry a bit after the bottle finishes but she's usually okay after a while. Anyway, if I don't leave enough milk, she will just take more at night.

Forgot to add that if you are not pumping well, you should latch as much as possible to maintain supply. So your baby should not be getting any bottles if you are there with him. Do you cosleep? I'm doing that now and find that this is the easiest way to deal with night feedings, especially since I went back to work.

yup, im latching my DD eevery time im with her. after the 1st 2 days of ineffective pumping i get lumps liao..so my DD can clear it best..

btw im thinking of tendering already..maybe take care of my DD til she is older then go back to workforce..

coz i work shift so nakes it v tough to take care of baby...plus i dun like my job..

now economy so bad, tinking to quit take care of baby, if possible take up some courses to increase my employability when i return to workforce...
 
hi....my boi has flip at 4mths yesterday!!!!and think he quite likes the tummy time....had started putting him into the BrightStarts Tropical fun around we go...he like it...

have to start cleaning the mat so that he can have more tummy time....how are u all doing??

i have found a new job..not sure when will start yet...hope it will really be a better place to work in...

Hi mummies! Long time no post already. Work has been insane, and David caught a mild sore throat from his daddy...

Dee, I give my MIL 120ml x 4 feeds every day. David feeds every 3.5hours. Lately he hasn't been feeding well. Sometimes he'll stop at 60ml.

I try to fully latch him when he comes home and he'll make up the intake from there, but on this weekend, he's on nursing strike. I suspect it's the bit of Indian food I took. Maybe he's not used to the spices.

Anybody's baby teething already? David has been having problem feeding, and he's fussing a lot when latching. He's also having diarrhea. I wonder if he's starting teething? Brought him to two PDs and they both think he's ok because he appears to be alert and playful.

Flipping: I wonder why David's flipping is opposite one. Other babies flip from tummy to back; David flips from back to tummy...then kena stuck. (-_-")

my little boy is also the same. I never advocated tummy time for both my boys and they both flipped from back to tummy at around 15wks..

Teething
My boy has been drooling alot nowadays and loves his teether. his gums do feel a little harder but no sign of teeth yet

my #1 also fussed around 4mo but teeth only popped out when 6mo+

milestones
mummies will always worry but really, all babies develop in their own time. My #1 (now 22mo) was eager to move around but his speech is slightly slower. Still saying max 3-word at a go. My fren's gal can speak complete sentences since she was 18mo but hates to walk or help herself to toys etc.

spag, Zach oso kinda on nursing strike.. onie will down 100ml of EBM or FM each time instead of the usual 150ml and if i latch him, he dun even wanna empty one breast..over weekend is even worse, he can go 6hrs without milk!

juz brought him to see a normal GP cos he has cough and mild runny nose and his nappy rash is quite bad.. aish.. he is onie 6.3kg means gain 200g over 2 weeks which is so litte.

bb and i separates from 7am-7pm.. usually his last morning feed would be 6am or 7am (while on the way to IFC). i leave behind about 500ml for him at IFC..
i try as much to pump 4x in the office w/ intervals of 2-3hrs.. and aiming to get at least 1oz/hour.. at times, i do get more that 1oz/hour and at times not.. so, i've to pump at nite to top up the difference.. at times i get more than 500ml/day.. but not much.. abt 60ml..
i only provided 4oz bottle for the IFC and put my milk in a 500ml glass jar container w/ lid.. hoping that they'll not pour more than 4oz at one time..
so far, he's drunk 120ml/feed.. 4x.. and almost finish the 500ml that i provide..
since BM changes its nutrition value as bb age, i suppose bb can constantly drink the same amt of milk everyday as they age?
has your bb started on solid yet? will u be mixing BM w/ cereal? my worry is that i don't have enough for cereal mix if bb constantly drinking 500ml in the IFC.. unless they substitute the one of the milk feed w/ cereal feed..

My girl also leh.. she recently can drag her hours of milk. Usually her interval is at 3hrs.. now 4 hrs she can dun drink. Then if she nap in between can drag till 5 hrs...Gosh.. i wonder if she ok.

She used to cry for milk when times up. Now if i dun feed her.. she can forget abt milk..BUT once i show her the milk infront of her.. she will wave her hands n be excited..

I m giving her between 130-150ml of EBM.

hmm. i used d same set of batteries n managed to pump 5x. each seesion abt 30mins one. quite ok lei. suction not as strong as plug on but i still manage to pump out a good amt. mayb minus 20mls from my normal pumping onli. hehe. i tink batteries mayb can last longer as i onli tried to pump in car 5x. =p

when my baby did not drink that long (latch) or much, i noticed that his stomach is usually bloated.. u may want to look out for that.. it could be the food that i ate earlier..

last time, i had ice-cream almost everyday.. almost everyday, he will have bloated stomach.. so i know i cannot take ice-cream..
just sharing my experience..

brought Daniell for 2nd vacc + rotavirus + pneumococal jab yesterday (cost me $389, *faint*)... at first dun wan to take rota & pneumo coz wanna wait till 6 mths then can skip rota & less jab for pneumo but then later changed my mind on the spot... probably dun wan to take the risk since i got toddler tat going to school & afraid tat he might bring virus back from school... kiasi + kiasu... kekeee!

Daniell now is weight 7.27kg & 65cm long... not bad bahh..

after the jab we brought him to mothercare harbourfront & let him try out the FP jumperoo & can see he likes it so much coz he laughes all the way... but still thinking should i buy 2nd hand or rent coz not cheap & worry tat this kind of toy cannot last long...

anyway i found this site for renting toy... think quite good... juz join as member & pay monthly fee & get to rent 1-3toys per mth, best thing is they deliver/collect at ur doorstep... here's the website, ANYONE USING THEIR SERVICE B4??

I same as u leh... My ger recently oso siao siao. Today she wakes every 4 hrly instead of 3 hrly to drink. When she wakes, she oso dun cry for milk immediately! In fact, if i dun feed her, she will just laugh n play with me. Oh dear... Is there something wrong?

my boy also like tat... like yesterday morning i fed him at 8.30am then normally his next feed should be 3hrs later but he fell sleep before feeding time until i cannot tahan & woke him up at 2pm to latch him on, but he also suckle for awhile only... i also wonder if he actually drinking enough or not...
 
my girl's drinking hours are also stretching to about 4hrs, I'll feed her only if she tells me she's hungry. Otherwise we'll just play or I'll let her sit by herself / put her to bed.

today 1:30pm she suppose to drink ( 4 hrs interval).. she look at me smile smile.. play... totally forget about her milk... 5:30pm already still no ask for it.. until i go n warm the milk.. place infront of her.. then she start to get excited... n wanna drink..

Therefore, since she be able to drag 4-5hrs interval already.. should i increase her milk intake?? example: 3hrs .. she drink 130ml.. 5 hrs i should give her 150ml???

But hor.. i give her more.. later she will puke out the excess lor... Haiz

Same! My ger skip her milk before for 6hrs! She refused her feed, went to zzz and woke up an hr later for milk. :p

I did not increase my bb's intake despite the strech of hrs. I currently give her abt 125ml each time. Out of the 6 feeds, she will finish 2 completely. The rest she might leave behind abt 20ml to 30ml...

I guage the amt she drinks as enuf based on how long she can last between feeds n what time she wakes up the next day. If she wakes up before 6am, means she needs more milk in the day. But I will feed her every 4hrly or earlier if she demands.

On starting solids for bf babies, I read that we should give bb the normal amount of BM then follow up with the food, e.g. cereal, puree, etc. Because they are still supposed to be getting most of their nutrition from breastmilk. Solids at this stage is just for them to taste and expand their palate. BM is a much more high-calorie food than solids. So I guess if you want to mix BM with cereal, maybe it's got to be extra BM? I'm not sure.

I'm planning on starting my girl on veg purees, not cereals. I think I read something like cereal is more for FM babies, because cereal is iron-fortified and it's harder for babies to absorb the iron in FM than BM. But I'm not sure. Maybe someone else will be able to add on?
 
iemiko, i dunno if it is nappy rash or not leh..his skin seems to chapped n i suspect it is cos he poo so often at infantcare, they wipe n wipe n wipeso the skin cannot take it. I applied calendula cream n desitin at the same time hopefully can recover.

N hor, his stuffy nose and cough takes to a bad turn early this morning. Totally reduce his appetite for milk.mabbe difficult to suck bah. Give him FM oso he cannot finish, let him latch oso 30minutes he dun want liao. Heartache heartache..

Haha..so many babies drinking schedule went haywire! I guess this is part of their growing process but i wonder if my bb is teething..he seems to poo more than usual..my diet din change leh, still the same.

My parents bought a walker for Zach at my Klang home.. but he still cannot sit yet so let it rock instead..hehe

If zach kena nappy rash could be cos the IFC nvr air the pipi for awhile before applying the cream. Ur chap refers to like the skin crack right? it's pretty painful (at least for my ger the last time she got it).
 
snowger, yeah, skin crack but tat fella seems ok leh..he's pretty tough one lor guess he knows since he poo so many times. Yesterday i wasted 3 Pampers on him leh within 5 minutes!!!

My ger ger oso did tat to me once or twice. I wash her buttocks clean clean, put new diaper then she pooed!!! So have to change a new one again.

btw, I realised my ger can't use pet pet... It keeps leaking!!! This is especially the case when she poo abt 2hrs aft the last diaper change. So gotta stick to mamy poko & Pampers Dry.

Talking abt diaper makes me rem soemthing! I tried the GoOn u sent to me. Apparently, my ger ger too much pee pee until the diaper surface was wet wet when I removed it... :'( So can't buy goon thou i like the indicator n the prints. :p

Triggering letdown when pumping in office:
I forgot to add. That thinking of ur baby can help. Another method is to have her photos near by (look at them while pumping). Also if u are used to latching, close ur eyes, put the image of ur baby latching on u then u imagine that the pump is ur baby latching (i noe it's not the same but no harm mah). I latched my baby a few times aft birth, so when pumping I do tat.

recently not sure whats wrong with my gal sia.. i feed her. she can drink a little then cry. So i tout she was sleepy i pat her sleep. after for awhile she sleep she suddenly scream again. i try to coax her make her sleep. seems like so hard. duno what she wants. i think the most hardest thing for me to make her sleep. as she sleep she keep waking up and screaming. sighz. give her milk she dun wan. wants to play with it. and sometimes she scream i must keep coaxing her till she manage to drink quietly. haiz.

could it be my gal teeth is growing liao? anyone start using the toothbrush liao? i saw it say can started at 3months and up

during the day, maximum time I let her stretch her milk feeds is 4+ hours. That's cos she sleeps well at night, and after her morning feed of 9am (sometimes earlier) and playing for about 1 hr, she may sleep till 12. Whatever the interval, she gets 5 feeds in a day. I don't know for sure how much she drinks since I latch her, but on days where I put her on the bottle, 150ml can last her only for 2hrs before she gets hungry again, so I'm guessing she drinks almost 200ml... no wonder so chubby right

Actually I was wondering when I can cut my ger's milk to 5 times a day. I tried for 2 days (she manage to zzz thru to 6-7am). Then on the third day, she woke up at 4.30am hungry! Worried she makes it a habit, so went back to feeding her 6x a day (waking her up at 11.30pm for the 6th feed). Last nite she oni drink 1 oz... Wonder if it's time for her to just sleep thru aft her last feed at 8plus...

I was clearing my 4th mth ML for the past weeks, my toopid boss asked me not to take so much leave. I've told him I'm clearing my ML, he can said "like tat oso want to calculate wif me ah" irritated men. Cannot tahan..If dun clear my ML, very luigi leh esp if I want to resign...

For my girl, if she have her last feed at 8pm plus.. she definitely wake up at 5-6am for milk.. the hours seem long.. If she take her last feed at 10.30pm or 11pm plus.. she can sleep till 8-9am or even 10am...

my opinion, dun try to give her last feed at such early hours.. especially if your baby is smaller.. not sure if they can take such long hours without milk to last her to sleep thru the nite..

eh, My boy went thru that for 1 wk after his fever and refused milk altogether as he scream when he sees the bottle. In the end, got a suggestion from Iemik0 to change bottle and we did that and he finally drank. You may want to change your feeding bottle to see how lor. Now we are using NUK premium for Bryan.
 
fabbie, yeah lor. David is also like that now. When we give him bottle, he stops and fusses at about 50, 60 ml. When I latch him on, he keeps pulling off to look and me and talk non-stop! He drinks like 400ml a day now and that's definitely not enough! And the diarrhea...I hope it's teething and not a bug.

BTW, is there a place where I can get a decent haircut for David? His hair has grown incredibly long and I think it's making him hot and irritable. His daddy don't trust me to do the job, and I dun trust the barbers to trim without chopping most of it off...

Joanne, I brought him to Hwa Xia @ Punggol Plaza for his hair cut for $10. Not bad lar.. but they din shave off his top part cos it is still soft and he has some cradle cap as well. Now i apply baby oil or olive oil for him after his bath so that his hair can grow back softer - according to the lady fr hwa xia..

Juz now Zach cried till very bad so my parents decided to bring him to see a PD in Klang.. the moment dr saw Zach says tat he got allergy cos his face n hands n legs got rashes and he ask what FM did Zach drink..so told him lor he onie on 1 feed of FM per day..n he ask me y..haha. He said i shuld exclusively breast feed my baby as he is allergic to cow's milk!!

Shaving hair:
Gals who din let bb shave hair during full month, are u all going to shave baby's hair in the 4th month?
 
Hmm...so it's either shave or stay huh? I thought can trim a bit...heehee..guess nobody will offer that service cause too difficult liao. His hair so nice and thick. Who knows what will happen if I shave his hair all off!

but zach is not the 1st few times drinking FM rite? ur PD can so confidentally told u he's allergy to cow milk? does he fuss/cry or hav allergy reaction every time after u feed him FM?

Daniell also has allergy (mild eczema) but 2 of my PD also said can't really tell what is he allergy for unless i really monitor closely to wat i eat/drink &amp; see his reaction, or alternately is do blood test but PD said not recommend for this age coz too young...
