taking a lot of spicy food does alter the taste of your breastmilk .. you might notice that you baby might fuss more when he's latching on cos he can taste the difference ... I think some babies won't bother .. depends on your baby ... if you've been taking curry and chilli all along then the baby sbould be ok with it ..

I generally continue eating normally even when I'm breastfeeding except that I try to not take spicy food so often. But I do eat.

Dr Daniel was the pedia who attended to my girl when she was born so I thought just continue with her ... she's a pretty decent lady .. thorough etc.

oh. i know who oreadi. hehe. my boi oso saw her when born. she was d one who came into my room n say wana send my boi to scn for observation. hehe. i choose another dr coz they give mi another clinic which i don wan. lolx. funni. they give u pcc but give mi clinic k. both of us class status ma. lousy hosp. haha.

i took d meds laz wk. now my breast still big. when i took for my 1st preg, my breast din go back to pre-preg size as well. was slightly bigger. tis time round seems to be d same issue.

breast will slowly shrink afta engoregement/lumps go off. 1st - 3rd dae will hav bad engorement but canont pump or massage. can onli take cold shower n juz kip applying cold cabbage n kip changing it to soften d lumps. by 4th dae shud be almost back to normal oreadi. mayb juz few small lumps. normal to hav leakage as well. =)
 
ya .. wonder how come like that? .. anyway, I didn't actually look at my appt card .. just straightaway assumed it was the pcc and went there .. hahaha ... then at the counter I asked them .. "Is my appt here?" .. hahahah so blur.
 
Stroller
We are thinking of getting a super light weight stroller, any recommendation? So far I'm looking at Maclaren XT Techno & Combi.

Grip Water
Can add into the milk? Is it necessary to dilute or can we just feed undiluted?
 
phyl, PD ask to give 0.5ml to my ger every 6hr, if FM can mix in, but if BM, must give b4 giving BM. PD gave us a syringe.

luthadel, saw taka having offer for aprica stroller. i tried, can 1 hand open & close, super light weight. original price $1088, now $768, can use till 18kg, my girlfriend use her for 4yrs. my hubby dun like as it's too light??? he still wants to buy the perego stroller...

For me, weight of the stroller is very important cause I got weak hand strength. I am not going to use a stroller that is heavy. Imagine I got to carry both my daughter and the stroller if I go no lift area. Both aprica and combi are light weight type but aprica is much expensive but more sturdy. Combi is much cheaper but look more filmsy. I choose Combi in the end, less than $200. Just have to be more careful, not to have anyone knock over ur stroller.

I dun like Maclaren cause there is no guard in front of my baby. Not too sure of the weight.

yup I have really been MIA. hahaha!! My boi can sometimes ask for milk even at 2 hour interval! Then stop for 5 hours. Rather erratic. Pretty envious that you could bring your boi out. I am gearing myself for that!! I have a shorter window of time though. I can't really breastfeed outside as he takes ages like 2 hours before he un-latches himself!!!

As for stroller, I got a Maclaren XLR. Not exactly lightweight..like 6.5kg? But good for newborn. However, I dun think I can cope with it
if I am alone and have to drive etc. Think it is easier for me to use the sarong or baby carrier at this moment if I am alone. So far I have venture downstairs only...keke!

I add gripewater into the milk. I have not tried undiluted one. Boi hasn't rejected it but somehow, I feel that he smells like gripewater now...hahaha. Even though he has it once a day!

For me venturing outside was of no choice 'cos I've to bring him for his 2nd jab and hubby got to rush deadline so can't take off. So after 1st trip out with him in my baby carrier, i gained confidence so now i can just head out with him without 2nd thoughts

thanks for your feedback. The lightweight factor is very important to me 'cos if I have to bring baby out alone, I'll need to be able to handle the stroller with 1 hand and carry baby in the other. Will have a look at Aprica but the price is steep and I still have to find out if my boy will ultimately sit in there! hahaha. Agree that combi feels flimsy, not that sturdy but the price is good just in case baby dun like it, I won't feel the pinch to give it away.

Just had a look at Maclaren's website so now shortlisted Triumph, Quest Sport & Quest Mod as well. I think we will head down to their main showroom with baby for better gauge

by day 4 the shrinkage is due to the stopping of breast milk...so at least no need to wear those extra large bras for engorgement..

Mummies can i check with you, do we have to give guests cakes to bring back if they come for baby's full month celebration?

Please advice as i'm not sure about the culture here.don't want to upset my guests.

i oso wanted to buy Maclaren, now looking at either Quest or XT, quest is lighter but only suitable for bb 3mths onwards, XT good for newborn & it comes with full canopy, but minus pt is heavy, so can't decide which one to buy.. i'm not looking at triump coz it does not hav extended legrest, so ur boy's leg might be 'hanging around' when his leg grows longer, but yet to reach the footrest, it will be uncomfortable for them bah...

I am thinking of heading out tmr for a short trip too. Hopefully I can make it! My hubby can cope with the maclaren XLR with one hand. Mind you, I am not a small size person. Standing at 1.74m. But I think I am very clumsy..hehehe! We were debating between XT or XLR. XT doesn't have an extra comforter and is slightly lighter and narrower.

Not sure if you are aware of this place called baby ave at balestier. Got my stroller there. Cheaper by $100 compared to mothercare price. They have a huge range of strollers too.

I don't know what's wrong with my baby after my CL left 4 days ago. He don't want to sleep and crying all the time if I don't carrying him. I can't do anything and have to carry him all the time. What shall I do ? Can I just put him on baby cot and ingore him when his is crying but he cry like hell and non-stop one ler. I was exhausted.

Have you tried putting him in a sarong sling? Not sure if that helps. I din have a CL but I very mean. I let him cry for 10 minutes and he stopped by himself when he realized he wasn't getting any attention. If I go near him and talk, he cries loudly and louder then if I ignore him, he just looks around!!!! He is quite spoilt by my mother in law. She loves to carry him all the time! Even when he was sleeping. She can carry him for 3 solid hours!
But before I do this stunt, I made sure he had his milk and burped, diaper changed and then that he is in a safe place. But I also peek at him and see his reaction. Then after that episode, he seems to know he cannot bully me as much. Will only whimper when he wants attention nowadays.

pei fu u leh.. everytime bring baby out. i cannot sia! cus of my gal i most of the time stay at home haha. till me and my hub need to go somewhere then we bring her out. But most of the time me and my hub stay at home cus of her haha.

You can try Baby Kingdom if you want to buy Combi. Cheaper than outside. Can neg the price with them abit. haha.

But be careful if you are getting Combi as i have seen a few cases where ppl knock down the stroller with the baby inside. Lucky the parent got put on the safety belt. Otherwise cannot imagine what will happen

My gynae suggested me to take fenugreek, 6 pills a day. But he also said that if I didn't see any increment means fenugreek may not be effective for me. I've just started taking and will monitor for a few days first.

I think I will try your method.

So far when ever my baby cries (she's already being fed, burped & cleaned), I will try to carry her hoping she will fall asleep. But she is still not contented - she will only stop crying when I rock her and carry her around. At times it takes me 1-2 hours to make her to sleep. It really takes a toil on me and my mother-in-law said when I start working, she will suffer.

So I think I have to be "heartless" now to make her stop wanting so much attention.

mine bb usually sleep through the day but will cries & become cranky once or twice a day (already fed, burped & cleaned). seem that she wanted to sleep but not able to. this will drag till the next feed. sometime quite tiring.

i think if i will to give him pacifia (spelling not sure) he will be ok, but i do not want to let him eat that.
 
sigh..cannot stand it.. cry whole day.. now 2 am still crying... coax her already... put down cry... still need to pump milk.. i almost whole day no sleep already... very sianz...

U got yaolan? I sometimes use this to rock my baby to sleep. Hand cant tahan carrying whole day.

If really no choice, she dun want to sleep at yaolan, we will use the MIM sling to carry her. At least, not so shiong on our hands.

U want to try?
 
cocoa and jowin, I use the sarong yaolan and rock David to sleep too when I'm desperate. :p Sometimes when David stays up for too long, he becomes over-stimulated and can't fall asleep. I'll swaddle him and put him in the cot. But each time he fusses, I pick him up, gently pat pat him, and put him down when he's calm down so he don't feel abandoned. Very tiring at first but seems to be working slowly. Just last week, he won't sleep in his sarong and cot. Now, he's at least taking one nap in each every day. Maybe can try?

Yaolan, tried.. she also dun wan.. almost become white elephant in my house...I really at wit end liao... She is not colic... just cranky and want to be carry, cannot put down... Sigh!!! until she is super tired , then ok. ( I guess these are bad habits)

Daily 10pm, i try to send her to sleep. Switch on night lamp in the room and nobody shall disturb her.. She started cranky from 11am onwards.. everything also cannot.. pat her, sarong, pacifer, sing song.. even if she already asleep, when i put her down, she cry.. I know she is tired and want to sleep.. just cranky lor.

All the way till sometimes 2am, 3am or 4am, she super tired, then she sleep... She can sleep all the way for 4 hours and wake up herself for the next feed.. After the feed, she can sleep for another 2-3hrs...usually till 11am..

That's when i can catch some sleep during this time, plus i wake up to pump milk.. even lesser sleep for me..

in the afternoon, on n off she will sleep too..

Yesterday nite, i lost my patience. At about 3am, i raised my voice very sternly at her and said " Ashlynne, KEEP QUIET!! Everyone need to sleep!!" wah!! she really keep quiet suddenly n fell asleep and let me put her down.. Finally i have some peace... hahaha!!!!

HB said i shd have done tat long ago..=P I said No la.. Dun wan to scold her daily...

Ok, I've taken note on Combi and will rule it out of my list 'cos if it can tip over so easily, I won't ever feel safe putting my baby in there. You know there are many irresponsible people out there who can't be bothered to take extra care around babies.

think our babies very clever, theykoe once they cry we'll go to them. actually i dun go to my boy immediately when he cries..its all the other relatvies, grandparents even the maid will come immediately when he cries...so think BB koes.

I've been bringing my BB out using stoller since the end of confinment last thurs..but always have someone either my mother or HB) ard to help. Cos really no joke handling BB, stoller & diaper bag...actually i think to handle BB & stroller still ok...or handle BB & diaper bag still okie..but to handle all 3 on my own..i hv yet to try.. My diaper Bag super big & heavy man! & i have alreaey try to cut down on the things i bring out..imagine i dun bring any milkbottles / FM already so heavy

Luthadel, u bring ur bb out alone after feed but still got bring diaper bag? My admiration goes out to u & phyl & all mummies who have handled BB alone...i think like u say each outing will increase our confidence...
like intially before bringing bb out, my worry was how to BF outside..but after going out a few times..i realise it's still not too bad..I can still pacifiy BB awhile till i find the nursing room..in fact twice when i was shopping, the shop asst let me use their shops fitting room to BF

What I do is to get a big and lightweight bag that act as my work/goining out/diaper bag. I dun bring alot of diaper just enough for my outing. My baby is on 4 hourly feed now so I just need the following per outing:
- 1 bottle of prepreapred warm water in thermal holder
- pre-measured milk powder for 1 feed
- 4 pcs of diaper in ziplock (compressed by pressing the air out from the bag)
- changing mat from TMC bag (given during discharge from hosp, super folderable and small)
- 1 change of bodysuit & bib
- small pkt of wipes
- My wallet, keys etc...

That will last me 4 + 4 hours of outing time. So overall, my "diaper" bag is not heavy and easy to managed.

Same for me. I have not bring baby out alone before.. usually with mum or HB. Like you, i cannot handle tat heavy stroller, diaper bag and baby ...

So far, did try to feed / latch her n change diaper outside... its quite fun.. haha!!!

But i still bring 1 bottle ( cool boil water) n 1 feed of FM incase i cannot find any place to BF her...Then if i need HOT water, i buy it from coffee shop etc. Did not bring hot flask.. But cool boil water, no.. i bring myself as i do not trust outside ... Scarli give me tap water.

wat u pack sounds similar for mine leh..in fact i dun bring bottle of water in thermal holder (1 thing less) & i have my wallet(just some cash & cards, too bulky to bring the whole waller) & keys in my pocket... Gd idea will get ziplock bag to compress out the air for the diapers (save more space). Oh I also throw in diaper rash cream & 1 nursing cover just in case cant find place to BF..but these additional 2 items shdnt take up too much space / wt mah..

mmm think my bag super big & dis-organise..so end up when i need to take out things super hard to dig..i must go n organise the bag..or change to a smaller lightwt bag..u koe la the saying goes, the bigger the bag, the more barang barang we throw in..;p;p

Also like wat u say, so gd tt ur BB is on a 4hr feed le..so tt gives u more time

Ya, BB likes outing and he will really sleep thru all the way until I wake him for his next feed! For outing alone, I just use the baby carrier so that it free up my hands to shop and to take stuff out of my bag. Once I get the stroller, I'll try venturing out with it too :p
 
btw i also dare not to bring baby out without my hub n my bag is super heavy! everything also bring! haha sometimes i need to bring a coolerbag of my EBM. n need to bring hot water to make hot it plus a flask! faints

Fabbie, do you give your girl pacifier all the time or only when she fusses? I'm restraining myself from giving him the pacifier as I dun wan him to develop the habit and later hard to kick. He loves the pacifier!

Hahhaa i didnt give my girl all the time. If she cry and i have done everything and its not her feeding time i will give her pacifier.. And i realise when she's tired she will cry too and i would give her a pacifier to suck to sleep lor.. Till she suck till so shiok and in deep sleep then i pluck it out. haha. normally sleeping time i will give her. Remember to pull the teats to ensure is not loose.

i'm using britax first class si & i highly recommend it, it can used from newborn to approx 4yrs old, my #1 has been using it since birth & now is the turn for #2, both always sleep soundly when they r in the seat, although the price is a bit steep but i think it's worth for money as can use for many years...
 
Ade, my bb girl can also slp soundly when we bring her out and we have to wake her up for feeding. I also tried to restrain myself fr giving her pacifier so when she cries even after feed, then I will give her. Where did u get yr Baby Bjorn Air carrier? Hw much isit? I m thinking of buying a carrier but not too sure what brand is gd.

I bought my Baby Bjorn Air during the Taka Fair for around $195+. You can also get it from Mothercare, Mothers Work.

Pacifier
I only give in to the pacifier when I need a break from carrying him and getting him to sleep either in the cot or on the open top swing. Hahaha...I have to admit that he look so cute with that little pacifier :p
