You're not the only one stressed with low supply, me too! My gal is 3 wks old already & sometimes I'm still pumping 20ml for both sides! Haiz.. I know about pumping more often.. but I just can't make it to 8 times a day, 5 times at most. It's easier said than done. Anyway just gotta persevere .. let's jia you!

My ss is very much lesser than you. But I'm not giving up yet.. still hoping fenugreek works for me..

The salesperson at GNC which I bought fenugreek, says can take up to max of 6 a day. See if u wanna try lor.
For how long since you start taking fenugreek?

Any idea if stitches on tongue will affect speech/taste? My boy received some after a fall and so was wondering.. TIA!

Actually your pump output is not necessarily an indication of your supply. If your boy is latching on well, producing enough wet diapers (6-8 in a day), seems satisfied after a feed, gaining weight, then it should be okay.

The following things do NOT mean that you have a low milk supply:

# Your baby nurses frequently. Breastmilk is digested quickly (usually in 1.5-2 hours), so breastfed babies need to eat more often than formula-fed babies. Many babies have a strong need to suck. Also, babies often need continuous contact with mom in order to feel secure. All these things are normal, and you cannot spoil your baby by meeting these needs.

# Your baby suddenly increases the frequency and/or length of nursings. This is often a growth spurt. The baby nurses more (this usually lasts a few days to a week), which increases your milk supply. Don't offer baby supplements when this happens: supplementing will inform your body that the baby doesn't need the extra milk, and your supply will drop.

# Your baby nurses more often and is fussy in the evening.

# Your baby doesn't nurse as long as she did previously. As babies get older and better at nursing, they become more efficient at extracting milk.

# Your baby is fussy. Many babies have a fussy time of day - often in the evening. Some babies are fussy much of the time. This can have many reasons, and sometimes the fussiness goes away before you find the reason.

# Your baby guzzles down a bottle of formula or expressed milk after nursing. Many babies will willingly take a bottle even after they have a full feeding at the breast. Read more here from board-certified lactation consultant Kathy Kuhn about why baby may do this and how this can affect milk supply. Of course, if you regularly supplement baby after nursing, your milk supply will drop (see below).

# Your breasts don't leak milk, or only leak a little, or stop leaking. Leaking has nothing to do with your milk supply. It often stops after your milk supply has adjusted to your baby's needs.

# Your breasts suddenly seem softer. Again, this normally happens after your milk supply has adjusted to your baby's needs.

# You never feel a let-down sensation, or it doesn't seem as strong as before. Some women never feel a let-down. This has nothing to do with milk supply.

# You get very little or no milk when you pump. The amount of milk that you can pump is not an accurate measure of your milk supply. A baby with a healthy suck milks your breast much more efficiently than any pump. Also, pumping is an acquired skill (different than nursing), and can be very dependent on the type of pump. Some women who have abundant milk supplies are unable to get any milk when they pump. In addition, it is very common and normal for pumping output to decrease over time.

have u ladies bought insurance for your babies already? i bought 1 hospitalization plan already.. looking at life insurance plans now.. hmm... is it too kiasu to buy life insurance plans now?
 
I was done with fever last few days and my milk supply also dropped quite abit.

Those using NUK teats, can I check hw do u all wash the teat? Sterilize?

hi hi... i will be seeing the agent this weekend or next weekend. Planning to buy education plan or endowment plan for my baby.. life insurance abit waste of $$ hor.. definitely not buying from AIA.. hahaha..either NTUC or GE will be good.

Me bought insurance plans for my ger when she is 3weeks old..the earlier you buy, the beter it is cos the premium is low n affordable..I bought my ger, health+life+education policies..cost me $190 per mth..endownment I will let her buy herself when she starts to earn her own income..hee..am just getting basic policies for her for a start..

ur boi still drink alot leh as compared to my ger..my ger on full FM, she used to drink abt 90-100ml per feed, now decrease to 60-90ml per feed..wonder if its ok?? anyone oso same situation? my ger will consistently wake up every 3 hourly for milk, just that the amt seemed to be decreasing..

me exactly having the same problem on adjusting the sling till i give up..i oso can kind of carry her in the sling, but i found myself look funny with the sling, so scared ppl will laugh at me when i go out, so give up on the sling..hee..

I oso started to feed my ger with gripewater to get rid of her stomach wind..seem quite ok..any mummies oso feed gripewater? bubble u did rite?

can i then ask u ya..do u feed your bb with the gripewater on its own, or u will dilute it n mix with water then give bb drink? im feeding my ger after bath (as advised by KKH nurse), u leh? hw much u feed ur bb with?

tonite is the nite whr i will start pumping religiously at 3hrs once! Gonna stop latching liao.. my boy really bite my nipple n areola till the tip of nipple turn white!! Either blister or..i oso dunno. Monday i going to parentcraft..Fabbie, I forgot to go last week. Imagine..went to TMC liao took blood test then i blur blur go back home totally forgot abt parentcraft until i was in the MRT and my breast starts to hurt then onie i remember. :p

Girl80, both ur bb look so alert..hahaha.. so they start to flip liao? They are not identical twins?

I not using the sling as well liao.. i tink bb not very comfortable in it coupled with this stoopid mummy dunno how to put him in. Hahaha..
 
i bought Aviva hospitalization plan for me, hubby n baby... then just bought personal accident from AIA for hubby n baby...

thinking of getting life insurance.. the plan not bad.. pay 15yrs cover 100 yrs.. if surrender at age 65 can get 200K but premium put in for first 15yrs is 20K nia....

so confusing.. i got many friends insurance agents..

u on total latch on rite? so ur breast also soft soft & nv engorge all the time? i feel a bit insecure ler coz my breast nv feel full, and nite time when i latch on my son he always wake up in short period of time, if give him EBM then he will sleep longer ler... now i wan to pump coz i wan to store, but been pumping for few days liao supply still low... unless before, i can easily get 200ml... haiz

jes, i was latching Zach all these while and my breast was never ngorged nor leak before.. all these while feel soft one lo..haha, but of course if u press, got milk come out lar.
Err..how to join ah? i tink juz walk in bah..ask them for help then hv to pay lor.. they are meant to help breastfeeding moms like us.
but hor i feed Zach with EBM he oso wakes up 2.5hr to 3 hrs..i latch he oso wakes up ard the same time.. mabbe now is growth spurt but cant be lar..he oie drink 60ml last nite before sleep, waste mommy's 40ml of milk..all CL's fault..keep asking me to give him more n more..end up he cannot finish.. ceh.
 
hmm... really sian, how to get them sleep longer in the nite??? last nite i gav my boy 120ml & he finished all but 2hrs later, he woke up again... then later i lazy to warm EBM so latch on but lagi worse coz he woke up almost every hr... can't be tummy got wind ler coz i already gave him winddrop (got fr PD) somemore i apply ruyi oil, so really dunno wat he wan...

lol ITs okai. ya not the only one. i also. that time should be doing my baby bonus after my gal janunice check up. that was our first time bring her go out. so after check up we kan cheong faster go home -___- till after i have a nap at home woke up then i realise i forget to do baby bonus!!..

i wanted to go parentcraft today leh! but the nurse say today they dun see patients! unless is ugrent. i wonder how urgent is it to them? cus my baby very fussy in drinking.. and always Burp follow by vomit milk. haiz. sometimes alot.. sometimes very little. really duno why she drink abit kick me. dun wan to drink. always shout here and there.. faints.

i bought the FBI discount.. and they got free 6 months insurance.. so i got that lor.. AXA is our insurance plan lor. i forget what plan. but i buy another better plan for my gal. + another plan of 6 months.
 
Jess, I usually latch on at night. Makes the baby tired and want to sleep :p. David sets his own timetable...in the night, he seems to be ok sleeping for 3 to 4 hours straight and feeding for 15 minutes in between. My problem is in the day - he keeps waking up every one hour to ask for feeding!!! My mum said (once again) that I've spoilt the baby by giving him a feeding every time he cries. She suggests giving water between feedings.... but I don't think that's a very good idea leh.. maybe he's a light sleeper.

fabbie, David is also very fussy during day feeds leh. He would cry at the breast, pulls off, then struggles to relatch again. Sometimes he cries so agitatedly it breaks my heart. Dunno what's wrong? My mum observed one feeding and said the flow is too fast for him. Maybe he got used to the bottle teat which only has one small hole... Headache. Anyway, think I'll be starting full EBM soon... or else cannot build up supply for work liao. Problem is my little milk radar cries every time I pump... even when I'm in another room. Very scary.

I have some qns:
1. I bf baby -now 7 weeks but at nite very haywire, nurse every hour is that normal. Feeds only one side, bb sleeps already after 1 side dont take the other.

2. I would like to express my milk so that husband can feed while I rest or if I need to be out to do errand--- If i only direct latch bb all thro the day, at what time can i express my milk. Am afraid that no milk to be expressed after nursing the bb. or worse, after expressed, not enough to feed bb. how?

actually i dun mind if baby needs to nurse more in daytime so long as he sleeps longer at nite coz nite time more shiong, if nv sleep enough then will be very tired... hehe! ya my mum also said giv water to baby if they cry for milk before next feeding hr...

my baby oso same, always suck for one side only during nite time if i latch him on, so another side of my breast end up drop in supply coz got to wait long for next feeding... so now i rather to feed him EBM during nite time at least i find it easier to 'force' him drinking up certain amt of milk... however my problem is, after latch on and never pump for certain period, i realised that my pumping output is getting lesser, been pumping diligently for 3 days but each pumping session can get only max 100ml... so discouranging...
 
jes, i will noe if my supply will go down when i start pumping later.. i tink will be the same as urs.. hopefully within the next week ss will build up cos i tink my boy going to drink more liao.
 
Xiao Pooh, I dilute with water. Was asked to give 2.5ml gripe water in 10-20ml of water. I usually give one teaspoon with 30ml of water. I also give her after bath.

Is your boy producing 6-8 wet/poopy diapers a day? If so then he should be getting enough milk. My breasts do feel quite soft but I have slight oversupply of milk, so I can feel quite full and a bit pain if my girl goes too long without a feed. Maybe your boy is going through a growth spurt, which is why he is nursing more frequently? Emma went through one a couple of weeks ago and she was nursing every 1.5-2 hours. Do you offer both breasts at each feeding? If not maybe you can try that, so that if he is still hungry he can latch on and eat somemore.

I'm not sure how to advice on pumping, cos I don't do it. But I think maybe 6-8 weeks, our milk supply should have stabilised, which is why you may not feel engorged anymore. If so, then this could be why your pumping isn't yielding much, cos your brain is already producing the right amount of milk for your baby. Maybe you can keep on pumping, to trick your brain into producing extra milk?

haiz i duno what to say.. i dun have a problem at my house but at my MIL house i do have a problem now. my MIL told me that their fridge on top (freezer) has to be empty cause need it for CNY. She say After CNY than buy a freezer just for the milk. but im wondering why not buy now?! anyway She told me that since i everyday pump til so much. next time pump till i throw away. but no i Never ever will throw away lor! But i would rather give away and not throw away which is too wasted. So would like to ask. who wants my Breast Milk? i Have a few bags which i have pump from DEC. Sound topid but nvm. i just ask you gals first rather than i throw away.
 
fabbie, dec milk can last till feb. Can save for 'rainy' days. I used quite a number of frozen milk when I was down w fever twice. If unused, can use it as milk bath for yr bb or for yrself.

sure.. tomorrow when i get from u the breastpads ba. but i dun have coolerbag leh but then my mil house is at hougang and u stay at hougang too i think wont defroze so fast le ba.? i will try to put in a bag with my ice brick. will gather dec and some jan milk bags ba. i think total i can pass to u 40 milk bags most of them are 3oz to 5oz per bag. which is in my MIL house. =) so do i have more discount on your breast pads. hahaha *joking* see ya tmw.. if u dun mind tomorrow i go ya house visit u and ya gals with my gal too hehe. tmw then let u know timing u whole day will be at home?

rainy days as in? now already Jan liao. and my own house also got more than 10 bags. so i guess i dun need lor.. throw away also quite hard pain. i wonder is there a med to not to have so much milk. but just abit. like mayb 1 day pump 2 times can liao. no need to pump so many times. like maybe milk control? haiz

Vomit milk:
My gal has been vomiting milk after feeds these 2 days.. she vomit the whole lot of milk thru her mouth n nose even after burping. CL say she got phlemp n its normal.. but i heart pain to see my precious BM wasted n her crying till so chiam!! Anyone got similar experience? My gal only 12days old as of today..
 
Argh!! I cannot tolerate already... BB has not been sleeping since 10pm till now.. No matter how i coax her to sleep, cannot... 4am plus already, i m so sleepy and still need to sit n pump out the milk out of the engorge breasts... HB strain his waist and cannot help me out...

Argh.. she still crying now unattended... !!!!!

I tot milk ss shuld be very high early in the morning how come mine so pathetic one ah?? Last pump at 1am, now alr 4hrs later..the ss is like dropping like tat.. i must pump more religiously liao.. my bb seems to be on another growth spurt. Last drank 100ml at 3am..now alr wake up to drink another time.mummy stress to quickly pump n replenish stock..hehe

ur boi ok? bad fall ah? stitches on d tongue mite affect speech slighlty as ur boi will know tt there's smting in his mouth. taste unless his nerves were 'injured'. they use disolvable stitches? tink it should be fine afta a while.

YA LOR! so topid. i was angry when she say that.. n ask me to throw away..but then think again its quite true la i think my gal cant finish lor n feb is coming very fast..nvm ba will restock again then. but im very sian restock duno put where also..
