iemik0 - i'm using avent bottles. his feeding is better now... i think average abt 50ml-60ml, that should be ok for baby of 1 week old?

emeraldbride - he didn't really latch on right from beginning. only 1 particular day after he was re-admitted to hospital, he did latch for a long time, coz he was left without a feed for more than 4hrs. i will try to latch him on... if really he doesn't want, then *haiz* will pump n feed.

iemik0/emeraldbride/dee - cupfeed him... have to get a cup. c when my husband next go kiddy palace.

dee - mine drop at day 6. i think basically clean the area well w cord spirit n cotton bud even after it drops.

Xiao Pooh - is Enfalac A+ good? is it diff in taste fr friso?

Snowger - i think i have same prob as u... i think have to slowly train him to be used to whatever bottles u r currently using. or else like what emeraldbride & dee advice to me.

I saw internet was saying even u sick also cannot stop BF leh.. so dun stop BF to ya baby ya.. i got fever i also give.. My mum and in law lucky didnt say anything.

dun think is our milk la.. but just dun know why she puke like this.. i try to make her sit upright after feed for a few mins. although internet read up said 30mins but very tired for her to sit upright for 30mins lor..

I'll be getting Bengawan Solo vouchers for friends who gave presents but cannot attend or were not invited to the celebration. My guestlist is small cos i wanna minimize exposure of germs to Preston.

Does Ashlynne throw up a lot? If you think it's very often/regular or you're worried, you can bring her to the PD.

i give kayson water in d dae coz he take fm in d nite. like every 4hrs i give abt 5-10mls of water. hehe. mi juz finish one big tin of similiac. ltr need to go stock up liao. hehe.

usually 1st bb, mil will ask for cakes for relatives. tis time round, mil say no need coz 2nd child n not all relatives coming. not gonna go all over sg to give them cakes. im not so free. =X

for frenz n colleagues, i giving customized kit kats. now waiting for draft design. =)

60mls is enuf gor one wk old bb. if he cries for milk more frequently den u increase d amt slowly.

actually all milk formula r almost d same. some milk agents will say theirs is d best coz got tis n tat n contents of tis is more n stuff. so ultimately depends on wat formula u wana give. from my experience, bb who drink s26 r damn chubby one. im one of those bb 25yrs ago. lolx.
 
jo, could ur baby be colicky? Did she cry after throwin up? or before that? did she drink very fast?
Yesterday my boy also threw up his milk..wet his shirt, i was puzzled cos he never throw up so much before esp if we latch..then realise his tummy alot of wind. I ask my CL to rub some Ru Yi oil on him, few minutes later he farted and pooped!!! Now each time i latch him, whenever he take 5, i will burp him first and then let him continue..

ok today at my in law house gonnna have big big 1month party! my FIL bought his whole stack of ktv to let relatives sing.. faints..i duno if my gal wan to sleep how sia. hmmm n they always on very loud.. i also cannot take it.. lol

i intend to order sweetest moments 4 guest that come for his full month. then for my office n hubby's office i intend to give 1 cake, ang ku kueh n eggs...

2nd baby: understand that the blue one is desitin creamy & the purple one is desitin original. Difference is the Zine Oxide content. Blue one is 10% & purple one is 40%. Suppose to be the higher the better.
I have both but now only using the blue one Desitin Creamy 10% zinc oxide first since not serious nappy rash. Just put some after every diaper change to prevent. Intend to use the other one Desitin Original (purple - 40% zinc oxide) when there's serious nappy rash)

agree with Gerry, have to bear with it. Try the nipple cream, personally I felt that it helps. I'm using the Medela Purelan. Would avoid letting baby suckle the sore nipple breast for 1-2 feeds & apply the nipple cream. It actually gets better.
Now think bb latches on correctly (or I hope), cos sometimes only upfront feel the pain when he latches on, thereafter okie..

i also wanted to get sweetest moments cakes for office, due to its packaging. but HB feels not worth it for the price, so looking at melrose cakes instead..heard feedback fm the web tt melrose cakes taste not bad...

Sorry to intrude. Noticed some of you looking for Medela pumps. I have a Medela PIS Advanced 2008 Metro Bag version for sale.

This is a US import set so there is NO warranty. But Medela pumps are usually very durable such that usually any warranty is quite useless. Seldom anyone has to fix the pump before warranty is up.

I will be providing an ORIGINAL medela adapter for SG use. I got the original adapter as I feel its safer that way. Furthermore, if you accidentally use the wrong adapter, you'll fry your pump.

This set has been used occasionally for the past 7 weeks. I usually latch on directly and only express now and then to store so the pump is in good condition. In fact, the storage bottles have never been used as I express directly into glass bottles to store. Nonetheless, I will be providing the new replacements for the softfit shields and the valves and membranes. This means the set you are getting is really almost as good as new.

Metro Bag is more expensive than the shoulder bag and the backpack as the pump comes in its own carrying case. If next time you don't want to use the pump, the bag also looks nice enough to be used as a working bag.

A new local set like this costs $7XX - $8XX. If you buy from First Few Years, it cost $699 but the warrant is also not by the Medela Service Centre. Just their own shop warranty. I would like to sell my pump for $420 negotiable.

Oh no.. my mum said no buffet at her side, she dun wan so many guests to disturb Ashlynne n will give cakes to relatives instead but MIL side haven say anything. She only said FIL will cook abit n invite their relatives over. HB said no need to give cakes to those come already.. just buy a cake n made some red eggs will do.. BUDGET!!! Colleague side, maybe just give a few boxes to the whole company for them to share. I got 30 over colleagues , if each getting a box or bangawan solo vouchers.. I POK KAI already...For our own friends, just get close friends n order pizza n KFC at my house la.. hee hee...

in the end i didnt eat kfc.. i feel is not right. i eat left over food that i ate in the afternoon. safer.. My mum told me cannot eat outside food is bcus duno they use what oil.
 
bur...i have fever on thurs nite...again!! my 5th attack..my gyna ask me to go see KK A&E...he suspect matista...so i go kkh...waited for 3hrs!!! i was having fever at 39.2 that time...wah piang..dun have much patients ..think i am the 4th ..dunno what the docs are doing!!! End up i go see dr..and the lactation nurse say how come i can tolerate the pain so long...she help me massage and release some milk..feeling better..n she ask me to repeat every 3 hrs....i request to have the med to stop milk prdt...cos i nvr slept for more than 1 day...cannot really take it...

when i was taking the med...i was so gulity...my boi enjoy bm yet..i derive him frm it....

been trying to catch up on the thread.. past few days oso experiencing a fussier Kasia in the pm, but strange dat usually at nite she is better. wonder is it becos i try to feed her EBM in the day mixed with FM , and only FM at nite, dats why she can sleep better. Kasia oso "leak" abit of milk for past 3 days, but does not seem as serious as wat Jo described. anyway, will have to monitor and see how.

Nappy rash:
Kasia developed some red dots on her butt since 3 days ago, think dat cud have contributed to her fussiness in pm when weather is hot. my CL recommends to use "lok yik san" (a whitiish powder) from chinese medicine hall. since it is to be applied like barrier cream, i juz try lor. seems like it is wrking thou the rash is still there. wil observe and see how for next 2 days. if good, in future we knw wat to do liao.

btw, i oso notice my gal skin very sensitive, start to have some pimple-like thingy on her face, and heat rash like thingy on her hands and legs. my CL said it may be due to some "heaty" stuf i ate during preg and Kasia's body is trying to rid the "poison" now. any mummies observe the same thing?

oh no... pls take care of yrself 1st gal. u still need to take care of Gerrad ma. im sure Gerrad wud rather have a healthy mummy than a sickly mummy with BM! of cos as mummy we try to give the best to BBs, but if dat compromise our health, then not worth it rite? anyway, im still struggling with 30-40ml EBM for each pump. im not giving up, so u dun give up too, k dokie? =)

xiaohwa, think u got a cracked n sore nipple thats y it will bleed. As wat Gerry advises, apply nipple cream or breastmilk. It will help.

Jowin, pine garden has very yummy cakes. I ordered for my elder girl first and second birthday celebration. But dun think they have man yue package.

Jowin, my girl also regurgitate milk even after few hrs. PD say must let girl be upright position for half an hr after feeding.

Pastillies, thanks for the clarification on the blue and purple desitin cream. Now wonder my girl buttocks skin came off quite a bit when we applied the original one. Then PD prescribe the creamy one.
 
mummies - my gal has turned into a nite owl. She's not sleeping fr 1-6+am, tiring her mummy & granny. Then she slept fr 6+ to 10+ this morning. I wonder if this is going to go on forever.. @_@

Carmen - My gal also hv pimple like rash on her face. My mum applies xue hua gao on it & it helps to clear off the next day.
 
bubble, u got mastitis?? r u feeling much betta now? U dun like confinement food? I actually like it alot leh..hehe. I eat kidney almost everyday together with pig's stomach soup. Alternate day got papaya fish soup or steam fish..actually u can ask ur CL to fry mee hoon or eat mee sua oso.. my mom say during confinement alot of food can eat lar.. not necessary hv to be with ginger or chinese wine..like fried meehoon, pork chop, etc
 
carmen, my wedding cakes also from gin thye, that time we ordered those traditional teochew biscuits. they charge us $6.80 for 1 marble cake, 2 red eggs, 2 ang ku kuehs and 2 glutinous rice.

dats the thing, i dare not apply any inedible cream on Kasia's face as she is ultra active. She loves to use her hands to touch her face then put the hands into her mouth! so i resort to using cotton wool to clean her face whenever i change her diaper (which is every 3-4hrs). hopefully the pimples will clear soon, as a gal, it pains my heart to see her face smooth face becum like now.

Maybe becos Kasia feeds on FM, so according to my CL records, she can sleep a good 3hrs in b/w feeds. maybe u try to establish a 3-4hrs routine for her? E.g. even when Kasia not waking for her feed in 3-4hrs, i will "gei gei" touch her and tell her i need to change her diaper. afte wiping her buttocks, sometimes she will oso wail for her milk, so i quickly feed her and tuck her into bed again. i believe wif this rotuine, yr gal will soon establish a 3-4hrs sleep at nite too.

If u notice yr gal sleep alot during the day, after each feed, u may wan to try to tok to her for a while or put her at a corner where she can do some exploration. i have put up a few posters in a living room corner, so when i notice dat Kasia is not in "sleeping" mode, i will leave her at dat corner for her eyes to roam over the posters. it may help to stimulate her learning in future too! haha... ;D

i can understand how tiring it is to go w/o sleep, so jia you! ;D
 
actually those breakouts are normal for babies.. it should clear up by itself. After each feeding session, I will use cotton wool to clean baby's face to prevent milk rash. But those pimples are due to heat..better not use any cream to apply lar.. i see my baby's clear by itself

Newborn acne

Phyl.. agree with emeraldbride.. better not apply any cream.. just wash the face with water.. it caused of the overproduction of hormones at birth and this kind of acne usually starts appearing ard week 3 and will clear away in abt a month to 6 wks..

Dun worry.. i think it usually bothers parents more than the bb..

me not sure if the taste is same with friso or not..im giving my ger Enfalac A+ cos its the brand currently used by KKH for all new-born bbs..so i thot just follow suit lor..maybe till she's bigger then i will explore other options ba..hee

Me not using any cord spirit for my ger since day 1..i simply made sure the naval area is dry thats all..is it ok? my ger's cord dropped on the 11th day..n she's nw 24 days old le..cos i did ask KKH nurse n they said no need to apply the cord spirit..so i simply listen..

the 6-in-1 jet vaccination pkg in KKH cost $450,inclusive of consultation..i know polyclinics jets are so much cheaper as compare with KKH, but I really dislike the polyclinic environment as they dun have a specialised area for infants..its all mixed with sickly adults..me n hb saw already so scared , we decided to rathe spend more $$ for our ger to have the vaccination done in KKH-Private Children Clinic..hee..plus the KKH vaccination has lesser no. of jets compared to polyclinics..

I just came back. Very good. I got 5 rompers at $8, 4 dress set at $5 each and 3 sun suit at $10 for my daughter. I also bought 2 blankets at $4 each. Cheap cheap n the material is good also.

Heard that they got annual sale around this period every year. I am going to mark it down in my 2009 calendar. Hehe...

Those at the East can consider going there.

dun be upset k..cos its really stressful to BF..afterall tell yourself you have tried already n you have given the most impt golden milk - colostrum for your boi already..dun ever feel bad if u not goin to BF k, its not a sin..n pls dun get stress up by this..you would have want to if you can, but since nw its affecting your health so much, then you may wish to consider FM..Many kids oso grow up on FM n they are equally healthy rite??

So cheer up k..dun let this BF thinggy affect your love n bond with ur bb boi..there's still so much things you can do for him de..

we're not given any cord spirit to apply for the cord also.. apparently, it's not required.. just use boiled water to clean and make sure it's dry..

no idea why the hospital doesn't advice on using the alchohol spirit for cords anymore.. my #1 boy also the same.. which was last year.. but his dropped a bit more later..

now my bump giving me problem too, it seems that i've got those blisters like rashes with the top skin gone. no wonder i feel so pain, i kept thinking its my stitches, then ask my hubby to see it for me today. my stitches had all heal, except for these blisters. my CL then help me put the baby's barrier cream on me... hahaha, baby's bum got rashes, mommy's bum oso got...
anyone experienced this too?

I'm doing fine...I'm latching on...and expressing after latch on....

if your bb fall asleep during latch on, you can gently lift her chin up...to encourage suckling...or compress your breasts to increase milk flow....so she can continue suckling....this i learnt at parentcraft...hope that helps...

how did the nurse teach u to massage? I also feel very pain in the upper right breast near the chest and also had high fever. Since yesterday it has been there. Tahan the pain for these 2 days already...

my bois are exactly 16mths apart. hehe. he suddenly walked on his own afta i bring my younger one home. on wkdaes, elder one go mil pl n nite time come home. wkends, mi n hb look afta. so far quite ok. elder one seems to know tt didi needs more attention n wun fight for attention. we try to spend more time wif him as well. =)

when take d med, muz apply cold cabbage until no more milk flow. i ate med to stop my flow for my elder one due to work commitments. i was so engored until i hav to repeat d dose to complete stop as i din know its a muz to apply d cabbage. sianz.

ya mann..i was also wondering why i was not given the cord spirit for my ger upon discharge, and the KKH nurse oso confirmed for me no need it at all..so i guess it should be fine de..maybe just took longer for it to drop off tats all..but still ok ya..

for me i didnt use the cabbage to stop the flow..I simply contd squeezing out the milk, but frequency lesser n lesser..n i will use the cold towels to massage my breasts, then the milk ss juz gradually decreased le..i didnt take the medicine cos i heard took liao, the breasts will be small n saggy de..

thanks for the re-assurance dat newborn acne/rash on face is normal.. at 1st im really concerned as no one has told me to look out for such symptons. moreover, my MIL made comments dat my 2 nieces whom she took care since birth nvr had the prob, so dat got me a bit concerned..

yup, i agree, as mummies we always aim to give the best to our BBs, so long as we have tried our best, im sure our BBs will be able to feel our love. more imptly is to take good care of ourselves, so dat we can take good care of BBs in the long run =)
