Jo
sounds very dangerous! better install window grilles else got to keep all the windows closed liao. now our tods can climb all over so got to be very careful lor.

Bear,
Hey babe... long time no see you here. Send you email liaoz.

Jo,
Oh dear... agree with the rest. Better to install gates and... get the door repaired. Cos now is nothing really serious cos only play with water. But will be scary if he went in and accidentally fall? *touch wood*

Window grilles are also a MUST leh. Better to always be cautious with children cos it only takes a mere second for accidents to happen. *touch wood* Nothing happen is ok. But I believe in this saying: "dun live with regrets".

Last weekend, my boy opens our bedroom door but accidently close it and has his right index finger stuck. I was so heartpain when I open the door to release his finger. Blood immediately oozed out

wow karen that is scary...
that reminds me i need to do something about my bedroom door. Nw Issac know hw to open it...any idea hw to prevent him from opening the door? besides locking it.

I use door stopper(those put on top door foam) but that morning I not in time to put and then the accident happens. Really like watching horror movie when the door closed. My heart literally stops!

ah Jo, ask ur hub to install t grilles bah.
Bluff him tat t toddler who fell 3 storeys is your friend's friend's kid. Spin a tale to make him scared!

Minky, Issac so clever, know how to open door. K still can't reach t knob yet. I put a U-shape thing on my door to prevent it from slamming

3Jems, no msg from u. mantoubear2 at yahoo.co.uk

I don't mean to lecture all of u when i come in occasionally. was waiting for analysis to finish that's why got time to come in. hehe.. i just feel that sometimes we get sucked into all the classes thingy, pushing our kids to learn this, learn that but we never equip them to be able to handle all the knowledge coming in lor. also some parents i know say the kids go for enrichment liao means come home dun need to study/ practise cos they did enough. that's not true.. i feel that constant daily practice is more impt than gg for classes! aft all how much can u absorb in 90 or 120mins once a wk? that's like 1% of the whole wk's time on classes! that's why i feel parents shd still be the main educators.. but that's just me.. like i told Lian, i m a control freak.

Jes, may be u put her to slp when u go over to MIL's plc daily? slp liao then u go home lor.. that's one way of ensuring that she slps earlier. I read some research before that says the best time for our body to rest is btw 11-1am. that's the time when our body detox. not sure true or not. another study showed that the more artificial light a gal gets exposed to, the faster they reach puberty. but in both studies, they acknowledge that there are other factors in play too. put it this way. when V goes to sch, i m sure u want her to slp early, esp if she goes to a morning session one. would u wanna wait till then to change her habit?
happy.gif

Lucas also cant reach door knob yet ... so we can see from here who are the tall toddlers! Hehe.

Lilian,
He will ask his parents to do it ... he got no money to fork out de.

lian and Jo, my door is nt the door knob kind... is the handle pull down kind... so it is easy if he tiptoe... ya put that foam thing he take it out to play so no use...

olwen

happy.gif

RCB:
Thanks for the reminder. I dun even know where's my bedroom door key. I better find it before he learns how to lock the door!

Wow, today lots of mummies coming in
happy.gif

wah bear so long no post, miss ur post actually. hope u got alot of analysis to do so can post more hee

I couldn't agree more on ur point where parents play an important role in educating/nurturing our kids. Yes setting up and maintaining their routine is v important, in my current state (read: big fat round heavy tummy), I still make it a point to feed, change, read/play and put Q to sleep (oklah
sometimes zzz with him too).. hope i can do it till much
later/delivered, hee hee...

For classes wise, I think it's fine to go la as long as u can afford it and find it good (of cos it doesn't mean ex = good) Reason why we r not continuing JG is Q's school already covers most of the things. Also prefer to bring Q to our own family excursion on weekends ;)

Bear,
Totally agree that daily practise is good for the child cos it will help to reinforce whatever they have learnt. However, I feel that the children still need to go for enrichment classes as they are able to expand on the theories taught in class. Plus these classes usually move at a slightly faster pace then the school syllabus, thus preparing them in advance.

Anyway, the teachers in school more often then not, also expects the kiddos to learn the concepts fast so that they can move on with the curriculum. From experience, I know they get irritated when they are 'held' back by the slow learners.

For my gals, how I wish I can spend more time teaching them and following their studies. I run a tight ship for my household, and even then, I can hardly squeeze in more then 4-hours a week to see to their homework. Most times, they are on their own to complete their own work and do their own revisions. These are times when I wished I only had 1 child. So much easier to do things with only 1.

Enrichment classes,
Even though I encourage such classes, I only start to emphasise on these when the child is in K1 stage. I just feel that those classes that teach kiddos younger then that is a waste of money. I just feel that most times the kiddos are way too young to understand. Other times, I just feel that such early classes are just marketing gimmicks. Duuno yah... this are just my own opinions. Tink lots of mommies may disagree with me. But I feel that the kiddos deserve to just enjoy their childhood before all the stresses and pressures kick in.

bear: can't agree further..educating at home is more impt than in school i have seen parents who spend a lot of time teaching at home and their kids really are well taught and comminucate well.

I had cancelled my girl's class in school as she still not ready...been crying afetr 1 mth + of joining...Guess I'll just need to spend more time with her talking to her and teaching her.

Breaks my heart to see she doesnt enjoy class and I am still forcing her to get into the classroom..Hubby saw today and Immediately said to cancel.

What activites/teaching materials do u mummies do with ur kids?

3jems: ya..thats what I feel too especially seeing my gal extremely miserable going class everyday Mon to Fri. When she is home she will find all ehr friends around the estate and go for walks..play together and I really see her laugh and smile.

I think I will consider school at a later stage..3-4 yrs old maybe...I want her to have a happy childhood one that is happy and fond of..

I agree with both u guys (Kiki and 3Jems). I am NOT saying that enrichment classes are NOT gd. it is more like know why u want to send them for. some ppl send to socialise their kids. some ppl say it is to socialise their kids but then complain that the classes don't teach them anything. kinda ironic when u analyse carefully cos the basic 'motive' was for socialisation which cannot be measured. i m NOT saying anybody here ya!! all i m saying is examine the motive of sending ur kid for classes at this age. hehe..

I agree with 3Jems that if u send kids at too young of an age, it might not be useful.
happy.gif
but then i m sure those who does so sees the benefits. to skeptics like me i will feel that u say got benefits only cos u paid so much for it of cos must say gd things!! HAHA.. sorry DON'T shoot me!! :p :p its just my opinion. i might actually be saying it out for people who have the same feelings as me but trying to be PC. :p don't get mad ah? cos i think i mentioned before i m not a fan of such classes.
happy.gif

3Jems, I don't deal with kids of your gals ages. so i can't comment on enrichment classes. Seriously i m very out of touch with the pri sch syllabus. hehe.. i also agree that pri sch is so much more stressful nowadays! i think it is a vicious cycle - parents want their kids to be better -> send them for enrichment -> kids know more -> sch cover more advance thing -> parents send their kids for even more classes!!

Good morning mommies...

How's everyone this morning?

Soho,
Yah... I will also let J3 enjoy her childhood first. For early education, I feel that her current CD's and flashcards are good enough. In addition, I also find it is important to speak to a child properly instead of constant baby talk. Currently, J3's verbal skills are quite good in comparison to her older sisters at the same age.

ah lian: my DIL never naughty in my eyes. i won't ever hang her on the tree. yes, hope she can come c G again. sent my details to ur email. was trying to send a pix of K from the kite flying too but cldn't find it. my phone v kayu. oh ya, what school u register her @?

minky: come come! don't say gate crash. i only mentioned NE mummies cos i stay in NE so only near for those few. cannot teach ah kai to whack other boys lah
happy.gif

RCB, ah Jes: no worry, my MIL is fantastic cook & she loves cooking. my kids always happily eat her porridge & then when my maid cooks, they make a face & push it away. probably next weekend cos R just had a fever, dowan her to spread to ur kids.

ah jo: my G even funnier, locked my mum into the bathroom once. cos her bathroom has 2 bolts on the door. one inside & one outside. so once she went in to shee shee then he locked her in! she shouted until my maid came & let her out.

mummy2nia: nice to c u. ya, bullies r sickening. but i donno how to make kai fight back without him getting the message tt it is ok to hit other ppl.

ah bear: actually hor, kids outgrow the training v easily. my MIL trained kai to sleep from 8.30 to 7. but from the time he was about 3 or 4, he just started sleeping later himself. whereas aly_nat's aly still sleeps before 9 everyday during term time. even now, w early morning school, it is a battle for me to make kai sleep before 9.30 on weekdays. think it is quite in born.

& for the classes, if it's well structured, it can be beneficial. on saturday i just brot G for the Gain IQ smart mooves workshop. they had gym class & singing songs. tho it was free (subsidised by gain), think the mindchamps teachers did a good job. @ least my G is starting to talk again, more to his normal self. i'm v happy to c him like tt. would recommend others to go but think tt was the last session already. i also like to go for story telling sessions organised by the library. free & short. v appropriate for them.

Kash,
For the water, as long as it is filtered I will give direct to my gals. I really boil the water. But in saying so, I do hv a 'selection' of water of home - cool boiled water, hot boiled water and filtered cold water. hahahahahah... *lolz*
happy.gif

olwen, i see u using omnia phone right? Shd be ok, must be u lah... Send me when u find it
happy.gif

Glad tat G started to talk again after the Gain seminar! Wow...
My K has just started to be more vocal

She's slow in speech development... Hope she can catch up soon.

Kash, i have the same question as you actually regarding the water...let's wait for bear to reply regarding the water issue.

3Jems,

when u mentioned boiled hor..... meaning u dun boil the filtered ones? only boil direct from tap?

minky,

yah loh.... if no need to boil saves a lot of trouble.

aden, u know why? Bcos its usually the husband who wanna buy that expensive vacuum cleaner after seeing the collection of dark water.
And w/o husband's consent, the wife will not b able to pay that kind of money lor

Lilian
Ya i knw, thats why i say she's very rude. And that doesn't make the "sales talk" any better, cos my hb woke up very grouchy and couldnt' wait to chase her away. heeheee

Kash,
I will boil the filtered water. No extra hassle except to 'flick' the switch at the tap to change it to filter water mode. Else usually it's in normal tap water mode.

Adensmummy,
Yah... some of these salespeople sucks! Also most now tend to be from China. *faintz*

Lian: Thanks for doing the contact list

Hi Mummys

Need your advise, my en en have been sick for the almost a week. Block nose, phlegm and fever. Now recovering but still having phlegm....

For the past few nights, she have been getting up crying and cranky. It can last for an hr or so. I have to carry and when i put her down again, she cry again.

She is not hungry, thristy and diaper not wet. She just suddenly wake up so frustrated and then want to be carry.

How ? i am very tired and lost. Dun know what to do.

3jems, i hate those cheaters calling from China/HK, asking to do tele survey (then when u got hooked, they will tell u tat u won a lucky draw..). They really shd go to hell =p

Lucia, Issac do that when he wake up suddenly in the middle of the night. He just want be be reassured and carried... Same when i put him down he will cry so i just hug him n sit on the bed with him till he fall asleep in my arms or resting on my shoulder. When they are sick it is quite terrible so they just need that little comfort. Bt En En might nt want to lie flat cause the Phelgm make her feel uncomfortable harder to breathe maybe. Perhaps u can raise her pillow or make her lie side way.
Hope more moms can give u more advise.

3Jems, Lilian

Me too ! i also CANNOT stand those pple !!

i ever got a voice recorded msg when i took a call from my office phone, and it said something like "this is a reminder from the court blah blah blah, pls enter ur nric to retrieve ur msg" den i anyhow press, which linked me to this china lady saying that there's this police officer wld get in touch with me regarding my offence (#$%#$^#%). And when the "police officer" got on the line, 1st he couldnt speak english, and obviously he's another china man, and 2nd he can't even identify his rank and post cos i said i wanted to complain!
My offence? i borrowed $$ from loanshark. Found my bank details when they raided the place.
Den since i was "un-cooperative" he said "ok u wait there, u think that i'm joking?! i'm coming to catch u now! stay where u are" -___-

Aden, wahaha... they are jokers! "I'm coming to catch u now!"

My previous rude encounter:
Stupid China Woman: 喂
Me: Hello
Stupid China Woman: 你好, (following in chinese) I am calling from xxxxx, would like to ask u some survey qns. Can I know which brand of zzzzz are you using?
Me: Huh? Who are you? Why should I tell u?
Stupid China Woman: 小姐, 那你干嘛听电话?

*Speechless*
They are outright despicable !

Lucia,
I was very tired when Lucas got blocked nose. I juz sleep beside him and pat him whenever he feels irritated by his blocked nose. Lucas would try ways to find a comfortable position and sometimes actually sleep on top of an adult pillow.
Can understand how tired u are.

Lilian,
Cld have answer her back in Chinese "If I know stupid pple call and ask stupid quesn, I wld have hang up from the beginning!"
.. Chinese language not supported on office PC...
