wow, J3 is a big baby! my gal only weighs 10kg as of last month.

i tink can pay for the pneummoccal jab thru CDA, dun think medisave can.

food
my gal is very fussy abt food. lately she even reject rice, sometimes some veg and meat oso no wan. and everyday she will ask for ice-cream. headache!

Alibaba: Oh dear, hope T is better today??

Nut: Congrats on surviving haha! My boy is in JG - haa found it good so far though he dont like the storytelling part. But every other thing he enjoy coz alot of movement around, he can't stay still..

Sleeptime: Hiaz..getting later and later! Sometimes only sleep at 10.30pm *faints* so he only gets abt 9 hrs each night, and average 2 hrs each night.

Minky: Using Delphin cleaning services...felt it was too exp to get the cleaner haha but of coz if LT, works out cheaper. Got a friend use Rainbow, think not much difference.

Btw, Baby Fair @ Taka coming again for those mummies interested...4 - 22 Aug! Prob not much to get liao now that our toddlers so 'old' liao haha :p

3Jems and Karen, both of you have the same brand ah... hmmm... wondering cause my hb is tempeted to get i was saying he is crazy.
3Jem and Jo, ya girl can play dress up my hb sweating cause he say sure burnt big hole in pocket... tsk tsk... guys...
Jo, your boy eat quite a bit nt bad...
Jess, u let your gal eat ice cream everyday??!

Minky,
Yah lor... at first my hub not keen to get the vacuum cos of the price. But after the girl came by and demo, end up he is the one who insisted to buy it. Lucky they got installment plan.

Jes,MInky
Yah... she's a big baby. Takes after daddy lor. I told her better dun grow up too tall and big size. Girls are supposed to be slim and not too tall else scared cannot find hubby.

Jes,
Maybe you can tell your MIL that baby needs lots of sleep so will grow faster. OMG! You give your babe ice-cream everyday?

Re. Vacuum
I m more interested to get the automatic vacuum cleaner. hehe... Those like a UFO, turn ON liao, and u can go do your things...

Minky
oops.. take care! i almost slipped during my final month last time as well..

Ah nianz..

may i know how much u paying for each term? 2hrs playclub as well??

My hubby after seeing how dirty the water gets when the promoter vacuum our bed, wants to buy itimmediately!
I guess guys are pretty much into electrical pdts.

Nut: It's expensive..but hiaz what to do ;p Yup mine is the 2 hr bilingual playclub on Sunday at Evans Road.
It's abt $600 per term after adding in all the registration/GST fee. 1 term comprises 10 sessions.

Minky, 3jems
i refuse to give her ice-cream everyday, at least alternate days and let her eat only little bit, then end up i hv to eat most of it - fattening!

3jems, Nut
wat to do, MIL always said can't control her she doesn't want to slp they oso bo bian. if it's me i sure will go crazy. when she's back at home i make sure she slp b4 midnite and it always work. MIL too lenient liao.

gladgal
umm.. tts abt $60 per session.. My fren is interested in bringing her gal to The Leap Frog at City Sq Mall.. My gal has been attending weekend classes with her so i may b looking at that as well.. She told me its ~$50 each lesson.. Not cheap also hor.. I'm a little bit reluctant to spend so much but its good she has a fren in e same clas..

Hi ladies,
today at work... Duno T is better anot today... but last night... still woke up & cry many times... yday whole day only drink the most 2 btl of milk & nv finish one.. super whiney.. i am losing my patiences... v frustrated when he whine & duno wat he want... scare he hungry & i just make milk ev time he woke up... & he only drink 1-2 oz..

haiz. T weight 9.8kg yday when seeing doc.. so light... & now dun drink .. surely minus weight one.. saddening..

Karen,
Yah yah... mine too. He was shocked to see how black and dirty was after vacuum the beds/sofa/carpets. He said we got children so must invest in it. *lolz*

Peanut,
Yah lor... big baby. I laughed and told my dad, his 'report card' all got good scores leh. Even the PD was surpised and said he did a really good job. Somemore considering it's grandpa taking care wor instead of grandma. *lolz*

Jes
My gal also ask her go sleep she say No wan no wan wat.. Kids jus wan to play! they dun wan to sleep! But i'll jus carry her (while she cries -_-) and drop her into e cot.. Within 15mins with lights off, she'll normally fall asleep liao.. Other times when i was in the room reading to her.. I'll jus say its late go sleep.. She'll normally refuse and wan to stay on our bed.. I'll scare her say wolf coming then she'll scramble into e cot.. haha... sometimes hav to bluff them one..
So.. for ur case.. dun ask.. jus do it!

Does exp playgroup/CC helps to nurture our toddlers?
I saw my nephews when for those but when they go to primary school, they still fail their maths and chinese.
That's why I sceptical about sending my boy for those lessons esp. he is still so young. Anyone can share?

Jes,
I tink it's not so much that your MIL is too lenient. But rather they have not established a bedtime routine for her. Maybe you can draw up a bedtime routine for them to follow?

For example:
6-7pm: Dinner
7-7.30: Bath time
7.30 -8.30: quiet play
8.30-9pm: getting baby to sleep.

Once a routine is established will be healtier and better for all around. At first will be tough getting the routine adhered to cos baby already used to sleeping late. Must perservere and put your foot down. This is early days where you have to let baby know that you are in control... not her. Sometimes we need to be tough parents for the good of the child.

As for the ice cream, maybe you can consider changing it to yoghurt instead? Cos at least yoghurt is not so fattening and its got probiotics. All my gals love to eat Yami Yoghurt.

Jes:
My boy knows how to "tekan" my hubby and mil when comes to nap. He refuse to sleep until 5pm. But during weekend, when I take over, he will nap around 1pm-2pm, perhaps becos I breastfeed him so it's easier?

Kids their age already can do imaginary play.. Sometimes i've to use this method to trick them into doing things they dun wan to..
Like sleep.. bluff her wolf coming then she guai guai go into e cot..
Then if she refused to eat/makan.. I'll take out her fav softoy (eg rabbit) and act as if its asking her to eat and feeding her then she'll happily eat.. Dunoe if this way is rite or not.. But i dun care la.. as long as she does wat i wan her to..

i got the super exp delpin vaccum cleaner.... my mattress less than 2 yrs oso black & dusty duno like wat..& mil see liao... gian to get.. so in the we got it...

recently came those water filter service pple.. trying to promote their filter. did ur get? really useful meh? we all grow up with the water also hao hao wat.. den stupid sales man still threaten say.. normal water got this chlorine might affect unborn baby.. kns... anyway i got one water filter at home from my dad... have the same purpose so in the end.. the sales man nothing to say. lolz...

Karen,
I guess it depends on the curriculum of the playgroup and whether they progress to include P1 syllabus and that they follow MOE's curriculum closely. Personally I find most playgroups and even some private CC's fall terribly short on this. J1 was one such case. I tot the CC will prepare her adequately... unfortunately, was not the case. She also end up failing everything and it was a mad scramble to enrol her in tons of enrichment classes just to bring her up to par of the school average.

Even if the CC/playgroup does follow MOE syllabus, I feel that parents still need to supplement these with enrichment classes especially from K1 onwards - which hv all the Preparatory P1 classes.

The standards for P1 are no longer as easy as before. By P1 level, your child should be able to read fluently, have a very good grasp and understanding of English, have a good grasp of multiplication tables and be able to solve problem sums for maths. For chinese, they must hv basics in written, spoken chinese characters and hanyu pinyin. Anything less then the above and your child is considered below average.

Alibaba,
For water filter I use those that are attached to the tap. Mine is from Phillips. Previously used Osim too. Both are comparable. If you tink of the pipes that the water needs to travel through just to get to your home, you can just imagine the rust and chlorine build up. I've also personally seen chlorine build up on my old metal pipes. *eerrkkkss* Was terrible. So nowadays, we will use the filter for drinking water. For normal washing of dishes, we will switch the lever back to 'normal' tap water.

Nut
Right lor, esp when they see everyone around them they where got want to go and slp. when we are at home i jus off lights and put her on the bed (she co-slps with us) and she will fiddle with her soft toys a while then fall aslp. last time i used to bluff her said "kaka" coming to bite whenever she wanna crawl down the bed, but aft a while it doesn't work anymore, haha

Jes: Hiaz..my boy also late sleeper. He very hong sim...keep wanting me to read storybook, play..walk to living room back and fro, even though we remove all of them.... He also dont like the dark, so the lights must switch on zzz..

Nut: Yah lor exp...I think enrichment lessons all ard the same price ?? But I guess JG is one of the more exp around. Leapfrog is also same style as JG, activity style? How much was LNT btw?? Yup good if N has a friend there!

Karen: I m not sure of the 'value' but I will still continue another term at JG coz my boy enjoys it plus I like the teachers coz they make it very fun for the kids. I guess I see it more for 'play, enrichment and socialising' for my boy rather than preparing him for anything esp since it's only once weekly...but if he reaps the benefits, I will be happy haha!

Fifi: Checking out True Way Presbytarian and Kay Poh Methodist but havent fixed an appointment to recce the places. Where you enrol Aly?? Wanted to ask you that day but forgot. I also waitlist on LV at Suburna One but I think no spaces till early next year. Anyway still prefer those 3 hrs kind of session as compared to full day cc, since my mum can still take care. Until 2nd one comes along hehe.

3jems
i find it hard to establish a routine now when she's so big liao. well i can only blame myself cos i din do it since she's a baby... and we definitely can't get her to slp b4 9pm cos she will surely wake around midnite so i rather she turns in later around aft 10 will be good but alot of times it's even later rather than earlier... i told MIL b4 to just bring her into the room, off lights and leave her in the cot then she will slp but she always tells me dun work this way.... hmm...

karen
u still bf-ing your boy ah?

gladgal
yah those i went to, JG is e most exp so far.. I din know Leap Frog also sama as JG.. i tot its like LNT instead.. need to find out more..
Anyway i was telling hubby its so exp and i'm a bit unwilling to spend e money.. but to my surprise he say price stil ok lei ! umm...
Zoophonics is cheapest at ~$25 per lesson.. (1hr) but e one i brot her to, teacher i dun really like.. and she doesn't seem to enjoy herself tt much

gladgal
same lor, kids all hong sim wan, mine too, always just wanna play, sometimes KLKK too and will ask to on DVD even, if we dun give in she will cry damn loud but i dun care lah, cos i think she cries will be better then after tat she will be tired and will slp, haha... me bad mum

Jes,
It's never too late to establish a routine. Maybe you can adjust the routine/timetable to bring her sleep pattern up by half hour to 11pm instead. Then after 2-weeks, bring it up another half hour to 10.30pm. Slowly by slowly, you'd hv adjusted the sleep pattern liaoz. Dun straightaway rush to make drastic change. this way will be less traumatic for all concerned.

Aiyohz... all the grandparents are like tat. Always give in to the child's requests and demands. I always tell my dad to be firm. J3 knows she can 'teh' with grandpa and grandma and she gets away with lots of things. But when comes to me, she dun dare to misbehave so much liaoz.

3Jems:
Ya the maths is tough now even at primary school levels. I got to think real hard before I know how to ans pri 2 maths qns for my nephew
happy.gif

Jes:
I dunno how to stop lei and my boy refuse to wean off. My boy sees me, he wants to bf. but bfing is useful, when he's sick. Not that cranky, just give him by b. kekeke

I dun pump anymore-my boy is drinking formula when I'm working. I think he suckles more for comfort, I dun feel I have much milk too

afternoon mummies!

wow, today our thread biz so good neh.. so many posts I almost cant believe my eyes.. hee hee

naptime survey
Hmm, looks like BBQ sleeps quite alot.. night time around 10.5 - 11.5 hrs, 2-3 hours daytime. same as ahnut, no matter what time he sleeps, he will 'jun jun' wake up around 7am everyday.. and Q will turn on his 'mobile' music on his cot to 'wake us up' if we still zzzzz...

JG
Q also attending JG @ Evans Road but on Sat morning... maybe our expectation on JG was quite high so weren't very impressed for the first few lessons.. but the teachers quite committed and 'engaging'...
I think compared to LNT, JG is more on learn thru play and not as 'academic'.
Overall, think JG will be good for toddlers not attending any PG/CC. Most likely won't be continuing after this term...

so happy thread is up again.

ah lian: happy birthday! i didn't receive any reminder on FB leh. i sending my details to u tonight. but think u probably have all of them except my working place.

jes, lian, aly_nat, RCB: u all ok to come my house ah? then we arrange 1 saturday can? shd b afternoon cos my kids sleep late morning till lunch time. can ask my MIL to cook for tots & adults. but probably adult food will b 1 dish thing like mee siam.

kiki duck: u quite cute leh, can still go warehouse sale in ur condition.

minky, RCB, 3 jems: i wld leave it alone if happens only once or twice. but the boy has been doing it since beginning of the year. form teacher tries his best to help by calling the boy's mother but the boy's mother refuses to discipline her son. the boy told the classmates she even calls the school to complain if her son is made to sweep the classroom (duty) ##$$%%??. if she won't listen to reason, i am v tempted to use the boy's same tactics on himself. imagine, he spat on kai last friday!

so when i c L & R being fierce to G, at least i know they will not be bullied in school. i hope L protects kor kor G in school in future. if he gang up w outsiders to bully G, i will string him up on my guava tree too.

choomama: u r one good mama, bf K till now. (did i get his name correct?)

naptime: my kids sleep about 9.5 hrs @ night & nap 2 to 2.5 hrs. so about 12 hrs altogether.

Thanks for all your feedback on your toddlers' sleeping hours!
happy.gif

Again for your information, they should be sleeping 13-13.5hrs at this age.

ah Wen, OK will wait for ur details! Plus u, we have only 20 members in CTC leh
sad.gif

ah Nut nvr give business

OK lets arrange kids play@ ur hse. hehe.. But dun hang K up on your guava tree if she notti can? Hope K can bring t smile back on G

3Jems, i m trying to PM u. can u email me at mantoubear2 at yahoo.co.uk

Jes, what is 21 mths compared to the next 10-20 yrs of V's life? There is no such thing as too late. lack of slp have been shown to cause lack of attention and lower brain performances. Sorry if i sound harsh ya? I feel that V is solely urs and ur hb's responsibility, not your MIL's. If u know ur MIL cannot cope with putting her to slp then u shd do it.
happy.gif
don't push it to ur MIL cos u aren't doing it either. hehe.. don't get mad.. u can just treat what i wrote as trash. what i want to say is that u have a chance to change it, instd of resigning urself to 'fate'.

Ok may be u mummies wanna shoot me when i say this but i feel that part and parcel of being a parent is being disciplined urself. Meaning stick to ur routine and if need be, sacrifice ur time. I find it kinda ironic that we would be paying through our mouths for 'good' enrichment classes but we don't pay attention to our kids' diet and slp routine. hehe.. i think a healthy, well rested kid will be able to absorb more. so paying for really gd and expensive classes might to a waste when ur kid is tired and listless. may be we should look at ourselves and ask if we are doing the BEST we can to grow a healthy happy kid.
happy.gif
Don't shoot me!

Anybody with qns on water quality can check with me.
happy.gif
don't kena bluff by salesman!

Bear! good to c you around drop in more often we need the discipline here haha...
ya talk abt water do you think it is necessary to boil the water in singapore before we drink? cause my colleague told me actually the water here is v safe can just drink from the tap. And my hb insist just filter water with nuka pebbles and can also just drink no need to boil...

oh by the way thanks i took your CL. heehee... will tahan her don't worry.
happy.gif

Minky, i rem Bear said her CL cook terrific wanton mee!!!
I find it OK to drink from tap leh. I do that.
But I wouldn't let t kid drink lah.

Olwen, let me knw when u going to have the gathering at your place if you don't mind i might just gate crash! haha...
Oh and like lian pls don't hang Issac on the tree he doesn't like it.
And as for Kai's case... i think that boy is over board! must teach Kai to whack the hell out of that ill discipline boy! tsk tsk...

3jems
thanks for the idea. i will try to adjust V's slp time, hope it works out well.
happy.gif

olwen
thanks for the invite, yes a sat PM is fine. pls dun worry abt cooking for us, will be too much trouble.
happy.gif

bear
no worries, me no mad lah, i surely can take advices wan.
happy.gif

just to clarify ya, though V has been slping late but i believe she's got enough slp. if she slps late then she tends to wake up late too, sometimes ard 9 or 10am in the morning, and she's still taking her nap ard 1.5-2.5 hrs daily. the little prob is we dun stay with in-laws and V stays there during wkdays so at times we really hv to leave it to MIL to put her to slp. but still, yes i agree with u, i shd try to do it whenever possible and hopefully there'll be an improvement.

I think Lucas not only drink tap water .. probably had toilet bowl water liao.

On Saturday he was walking round the house ... hb gg to bath so I told Lucas u go and bath w Daddy and I went back into the room. Hb came in and watch tv ... yet to the bathroom .. felt so quiet outside .. calling and search for Lucas .. he walk out of the toilet enjoyably drinking water from a little small tray (to pour water for the water wheels) ... I bet he has collected water from the toilet bowl ... faster grab it away from him and ask him to spit out but too late ... luckily the water in the toilet bowl is clear!

Jo, u don't have a baby gate for your toilet? this is nt the first time Lucas went in to play toilet water isn't it? maybe should install one...
As for Issac he like to drink the tap water when he is showering...

Wah, i come in here i see bear discipline us. Kekekeke. Wat u say is true bear. I mean the part abt enrichment classes. Till nw i have yet to bring my gal to more classes. Juz waitin for nxt yr then i can start enroling her. In meantime i juz teach her at hm since im on ml. Teach her how to draw seems she likes it a lot exp the part where she starts biting her crayons, then gotto stop. Haha. Or read books to her etc. Find it fulfilling. Now got two mouths to feed so i cant realli spend so much anyway.

Lian, till nw i havent bring nia to zoo cos the mummy doesnt like the heat these days. Heehe. I wanna bring her to aircon places like come alive gallery plus got staff disc so pretty cheap. Wanna bring her to concert but no have hi5. Anyway me not goin barney concert cos when barney appears on tv she like not interested. So forget it. Sianz.

Jo
omg Lucas stil drink toilet bowl water? he's a funny boy la.. nex time u jus lower down the cover everytime after using the toilet.. then he wont hav a chance of getting the water inside!

My gal sometimes i can catch her trying to get a sip of bathing water when i let her play in the bathtub... most of e time i manage to stop her.. Yucks.. imagine her drinking those bubble water.. and who knows wats inside.. mayb she peed in ther

hello ah bear. so long no see u..!

water filter necessary? the stupid sales man do demo to us.. to check the PH & Chlorine level. stating the water is not as healthy to drink.

agreed with u on the routine. basically it's we the parent play the part more. so i do feel guilty when i wanna watch TV & let T to slp late... if were to stop the addict on TV, T definately will be able to slp early. haa..it's my own fault to it..

jo
toilet bowl not clean leh. somemore wash toilet bowl with those strong detergent wont stuck on the toilet bowl meh??

Minky u better jaga urself k. Nw very crucial period. Thank god its nuthing terrible.
happy.gif

olwen
i hate sch bullys. If the mummy bochup the children will think its nothing. If i were the mummy i wld feel damn embarrassed lor. My gal nw startin to throw tantrum, terror 2! Sumtimes i wonder hw to discipline her. So far ive started beating her hand and scoldin her. Its improving but when she starts seeing doc ot nurse she will jerk backwards and cry. Damn paiseh. Gotto coax her and tell her its ok

mummy2nia, i opposite leh. I prefer K to be out in the sun, breathing fresh air.
And i feel bad to enrol her in a fully air-con CC.

Minky, hehe, K oso drinks her bathing water. So far so good. hahaha

Our toilet got no gate ... even the toilet bowl seat is covered, Lucas knows how to lift it up and spray water ard the whole toilet using toilet sprayer.

Told the maid must keep the sliding toilet door closed at all times ... this mummy also must stick to him 24x7 loh

Mummy2nia, ya i will try to be more careful i am by nature quite clumsy.. keke...
Jo, sliding door no use la...They are smart enough to push it open. the only way is to install the gate. than u will nt be so stress no need to stick 24/7 to them...
Lian, don't blame yourself abt the fully aircon childcare. at least the environment is good that's why u choose that place right?

minky,
The toilet sliding door abit spoil spoil one cos rollers too old liao so even for myself, I need some strength to push it open. Sometimes slightly too much strength the whole door went out of alignment and even came off. But nobody cares to do something to it! Arghh.

Sometime ago, u all were telling mi abt window grilles? Tt day Lucas was standing on my bed and looking out of the window (Its like a gap of 3-5 footsteps). FIL came in and tell mi be careful of him ah .. then I replied no window grille what can I do. Dunnoe he heard mi anot .. cos he got abit of hearing problem one.

Jo
hey! ur toilet sliding door sama to ours! Always like the roller gena jammed up then i stuck in toilet trying to force it open.. then it'll come with the horrible sqeaky sound that wil make my hair stand.. Good ting my DIY hubby wil always do sometime abt it.. Guess tts e only plus point abt him..
