oh yah. ur K & my G r 天生一对 all right. we just discovered 2 mths ago he wants to be a spoon fed baby. we used to take 1 hour just to feed him 100 ml in bottle w a lot of crying & carrying in sarong. then one day my mother said just try spoon feeding. 180 ml within 15 min.

i feel so blur rushing to & from work. my life seems to be going by in a daze. did anybody ask me something? oh ya, anybody wan gaia?

Really pantang one leh.. that same day i told nuts tat K is PT spoonfed bb and i dun wanna praise her, K's feed went a bit haywired. Requested my mum to make her milk shortly after her porridge, less than 2 hrs later, she asked for milk again.
Then at nite when i brought her back, she refused milk and i had to spoonfeed her...
Hahha.. yes, G and K is one pair! Seriously, u dun mind a DIL w lil hair? hahaha...

Does any mummies have any remedies for night cough? Both kids are still coughing but very bad when it comes to night time and most of the time vomit their feed. My highest record was to clean and changed 4x from 1am to 6am. I need my sleep.

poor u! I can understand that, my Q also vomitted on sunday night then end up my hb got to change all the bedsheet, protector and quilt cover! We let him slept with us that night for easier monitoring.. Not to mention all the washing.. sigh..

ur gals got breathing problem other than night cough? Just for sharing, these are the nitty-gritty things that I can think of now that help so far:
1. Off the aircon (dry air irritates their throats)
2. Place their head 'higher' on a supportive pillow (to prevent phlegm backflow & choke)
3. Vicks Baby Vapor Rub (for easier breathing, apply a very little amount on their chest)
4. can try double-boil those 止咳汤 with Pear for them .. Q likes it (cos it's sweet ma, can dilute with water if too sweet).. and it's good for 润肺purpose too..
5. Lotsa Water water water and vit C

Did the PD give you any medicine? Are they coughing due to phelm or is it dry cough? I will usually apply some baby vicks to their chest area to ease the coughing.

Oh yes, I also use an humidifier cum air purifier cos they sleep in air-con room and the air can get too dry. I use humdifier to 'wet' the air cos my girls cannot sleep without air con.

hope ur gals are feeling better. Regarding the chuan pei with pear soup.... my uncle is a chinese physician and he advices that pear is pretty "liang" so u have to find out whether ur gals are having "heaty" cough or "liang" cough..if it is the latter...perhaps not so advisable to give the pear thingy... just to share this piece of info..

did u let the PD know their condition? coughing a lot at nite till vomit? The PD may be able to prescribed something for relief.. hope they get well soon.

If it's those phlegmy type of cough, I will give nanxinbeixin with pear. Sometimes work, sometimes dun. My aly throw up so often that I hv come to accept the fact that if the throwing up helps with her clearing of phlegm, then so be it. But cannot for too many nites lah. After 5 years old, I give her cough syrup with expectorant, and it usually clear the phlegm quite well.

If those dry cough that tickles the throat, I will give bb half a teaspoon of pi pa kao mix with little water, half hour before she goes to bed. Also, i will apply baby chest rub on the sole of her foot, and put on socks for her (to keep the heat in). The baby chest rub method was taught by a aussie granny. Dunno what's the logic, but it did help.

it is hard to off the air con now adays isn't it weather so hot. perhaps can use a humidifier so that the air is nt so dry perhaps can also drop few drops of eucalypus oil in it. And pop their head higher n let them lie on their sides instead of flat make their breathe easier.

minky, yeah nowadays very hot lah.. Not to mention u, the heavy-weight me lagi cannot tahan... so usually will on the aircon 1st then turn on the fan later.. for dry air.. sometimes a tray with water in the room also can....

Try giving them their night feed earlier or only let them sleep after 1hr of their feed. Hmm..4x. Mine highest record is 3x a day. I realise esp after milk feed, they throw up easily after coughing. My mil advise to give chuan bei pi pa gao but i found out is for toddler >= 3yrs.

1. My grandmum did a few yrs back when the current maid contract ended, she wants to work in HK and she recommended her sister. If i remember correctly, Medical checkup for maid, apply for work permit, insurance etc, u have to handle yourself. Grandmum didn't go thru any agency.
2. I think my grandmum kept her x mths pay (or $500), in case she run away and return her at the end of the 2 yrs. But is not stated in her contract. Verbally told her. Also give her $100 ang pow during CNY and bonus when she completes her 2 yrs.

<font color="aa00aa">Everything is best to be stated in the contract to prevent disputes. And in the event there is a dispute, MOM will look at what is in the contract.</font>

<font color="aa00aa">I never allow any of my maids to sleep with any of girls as I don't trust the maid. At end of day, they are still strangers and are simply 'paid employees'. All these while, the maid has always slept by herself in the study room. My maid uses a sofa bed I got from Ikea. She also got her own small cupboard and side table. I'm also a believer that a well rested maid will be able to perform better.</font>

At the end of the day, most important is that both you and maid is happy and comfortable with all the arrangements. *good luck*

oh...forgot to add... if u can..avoid giving milk...milk causes phelgm also... i find the best and most effective way to stop coughing is nebulizer... hahahaa... my #1 has tried 3 times so far... it works very well.
 
Poor snnowy. u mus b feeling damn shack.. yah e dry air from aircon could b 1 of the reasons that triggered their cough.. try getting humidifier or as mentioned above at least a bowl/tray of water? Also avoid putting those furry soft toys in e bedroom where they sleep in case their cough is caused by allergies? When my gal coughed last time, the PD also advise aircon to be best kept at 26dc.. this temp is jus rite for kids.. But sometimes it also depends on e size of your room.. For mine, i find 26 stil a little bit stuffy so these days i keep it at 25dc..

Yah yah... like kash said. Try to avoid giving milk. But if must give, give diluted milk. For example 3 scoops = 100ml water for normal mix, for diluted I will put in about 130-140ml water instead. My PD taught me to do this.
 
My sinus is getting more and more serious.. esp now most of the nites i slept with my gal in aircon room.. i'll sure to wake up middle of nite with blocked/running nose and irritated throat.. Jus dun understand why cos my temp is considered not cold at 25dc.. Anyway i'm now sneezing away in office tink al my colleagues also scared of me liao..

u r so lucky with a spare room for your maid to sleep. 1 of the main reason why I never have a maid is i have NO place for the maid to sleep. I only have 3 bedrooms. 1 master... 1 for my gal, 1 for my boy. I don't want maid to sleep with them... so ended up wont have any bedroom for the maid to sleep. So I can never have a maid...sianz...

yeah I'm fine, going to 7th month aka 3rd trimester vv soon (next week). Cant wait to deliver my #2! But then when I think about the breastfeeding journey, sleepless nights, cranky baby then I -_" already...

Sleeping wise, I also dun feel good to put any of my kids to sleep with the new maid.. but that would mean 4 of us (me hb Q1 Q2) in masterbedroom, and the maid in guestroom.... anyway will monitor her during my ML and decide again when I get back t work...

Some more abt pantangness.. My Mil say if planning to bring child for injection/vaccinations cannot say it in front of them.. otherwise e nex thing u know, they're sick and cannot go for vaccination! hahaha...

My gal was getting much better then i think kenna secondary infection from her daddy...so cough worsen and started to have running nose. But after 1 day, running nose no more.... now juz phelgmy cough...but luckily, never vomit before from coughing. I have been keeping her away from Childcare. Which is a good thing...coz her teachers called me yday saying there is a boy from her class down with HFMD.... wow! Lucky she has been away from school...juz went back last Thursday for 3 hours for class photo taking... hengz!

I also only got 3 bedrooms wor. But J1 and J2 will share room whilst baby J3 still sleeps with me. But tink in another 5-years, I will need to get a 4 bedroom apartment liaoz. Else can't possibly squeeze my 3 gals in 1 room leh. Already their room is ssoo squeezy with 1 wardrobe and 2 chest of drawers. Somemore all bursting to the brim with clothes, toys and bedsheets. *faintz*

Snnowy, u might want to dilute the milk nt giving them full strenght so that it doesn't produce so much phlegm. That was what we did for Issac when he was having lots of phlegm. He couldn't drink his milk properly then cause his nose was also block.

Actually hor... my hub wants to get a 4+1 cos he says the girls need a proper study room. *faintz* The I told him:"Ok... you start earning more $$$ from now lor." But if the need arises, I will definately consider a 3+1 if the study room is not too small. Cos I got too much stuffs. Need to squeeze in my bookshelves + maid's bed + her wardrobe. hahahahah... REally headache lah nowadays. Buy house also need to tink of maid. Piangz...

kiki, me same as kash, will not let maid sleep with my kid. N tat oso 1 of t reason why i reluctant to get maid. My study rm is so crampy now oredi, more like a storeroom now.

1. Yes. No agency. But you pay all the airfare and expenses (if I am not wrong, you CANNOT recover this from your maid unlike agency can). You also have to fetch the maid from the airport, bring her for medical, lessons and tests, collect workpermit, etc all on your own. This will require min 2-3 days of leave. If you find maid unsuitable after a short time, you pay all the expenses to send her back too and all the money you spent is gone - no replacement maid.
2. Please double check if this is legal.

I've checked with MOM before. On such matters like with-holding a small sum as 'security deposit', MOM does not have any issues with it as long as it is stated on the contract and both parties are aware and ok with the arrangments. There is no law that says this is illegal. Only that MOM does not encourage such practises as they are afraid some employers will abuse this.

Oh... it's good that you hv your mom's help. At least won't be so worried. If given a choice, I also dun want a maid. But with 3 kiddos and working full time, it's quite tough. I really salute you lor. Can juggle work, kids and housework. Last time when I SAHM still can juggle housework and kiddos. But once started work, had to get a mid to help out loh.
 


I feel guilty after hearing u mummies talking abt having a room for the maid. We have a room available but yet the maid is sleeping in the living hall! I'm staying with in-laws so its beyond my control. PIL has been sleeping in the common bedroom right before my first maid came, leaving MBR empty. However, one day if I have my own hse and really need a maid, the maid shall sleeps in the study room.
