There was once my gal hit another gal suddenly for no proper reason. I scolded her quite sternly. After that she seems to really learn that she shld not beat people.... but..... that day at Pollywogs, this other kid purposely beat her, my gal never react back, stand there let the gal hit. Faint! Not that I want her to hit back but at least try to move away or say something lah. And what got me super fed up is after my daughter moved away after the first hit, I walked over to monitor the situation and saw the other kid purposely go to my daughter, trap her at the stairways to the slide and then purposely hit her so many times on the back - continuosly beating. I went up and asked the kid why she is hitting my daughter (I never scold not hit or even touch either of them). The mother came and say I scold her kid also no use, kids don't understand, etc. Like as if her kid did no wrong. My gal sulked for quite a while after that. Haha.

I tell her that beating people is wrong - partly coz I'm afraid she go ard beating pple since she's too garang (She will sometimes try to beat me to throw tantrum). So I have to go on the angle that beating pple is wrong, she shld tell me.

But I tell her that if people beat her, she should not stand there let pple beat also lah. Move away to protect herself but no need to beat back. And tell my maid or me or my husband about it.

would like to ask u mummies some questions.. my boi boi oso born in Nov 2008. but my boiboi til now still doesn't talk. only bb language, n kept saying papapapapa only wor.

sometimes we talk to him, he wouldn't bother also, as if dun understand instructions. he is a stay at home bb, have not gone to childcare or playgrp. am quite worried if he has any sort of disability. hope to have u mummies' guidance.

he doesn't wave, doesn't say bye too.

Check out for Melben seafood at amk street 22 or 23 and I think is Blk 232. There is always a very long queue. They have nice crabs and coffee pork ribs (Very nice!)

Same same lah .. this new maid so far still ok .. but MIL still often blame her for things. Fruit juice blender on/off switch go haywire she blame the maid. The maid wash her bag and told her got a part spoil, she immediately blame the maid for washing until spoil. I hear liao damn fed up cos that bag she used daily for few yrs sure will spoil one day what. I wanna throw away my old bags but she wanna keep .. then my hb suan her say she keep also dunnoe which day will take out n use. I was laughing away after I heard that.

Pple say eat crabs .. ur child will tend to have itchy hands and touch this and that. Depends whether you believe it anot? Even I avoided crabs, my boy also touch this and that. I wld believe sense of touch is part of their development stage.

Louisiana: Actually different children behave differently. My gal has a brains of a school-child (like 6 yrs old) she understands everything I say and follows my instructions ie: drop the rubbish into the bin and bring the shirt to mummy. She can do. But speech wise she bit slower although she also says quite a few words but where some kids already construct short sentences.

Actually I am not so worried abt tat bcos she learnt to walk at oly 17 mths old.where other kids 1 yr can almost walk oredi.

I think the main thing u need to see is whether your child has eye contact with you when u talk to him/her..

My gal started on class few mths back going o preschool next mth my Mum said too young..i had the thot of cancelling, but when i think again maybe good for her to learn her speech, learn independence. No good after 1 mth then cancel not too late too.

How old is the other kid.. be it they understand or dun understand, the parent shd stil tell them wat it not right of them to do.. tot this is the natural thing we'll do? If nini hits someone i definitely wont jus stand and watch! I'll say sorry to the other kid/parent and tell Nini sternly she cannot do that

u shd raise ur concern to the PD and see what they advise.. Did u use e development booklet as a guide? When u bring ur child to the PD for vaccinations or other consultation, if the timing is right, the PD / nurse wil help to assess his/her development.. did u voice out this issue to them?

My son also can't talk. He speaks his baby language. He can point, understand simple instructions and gesture to me what he wants. But he can speak words like car car, bird bird, ball, army (mummy), pa pa, ah ma etc. Recently, taught him lorri(lorry) and aeroplane (errplane) but still doesn't pronounce correctly.

Chilli crab? I also like when I was pregnant and in fact I ate crab in my last trimester. Yummy.
Heard abt the itchy hands thing but I guess should be ok. Also heard seafood can cause baby skin to be sensitive, like my niece skin, super sensitive cos her mum ate too much seafood during her pregnancy. If can avoid, avoid lar.

wah..ur question made me shiver leh..coz i think my 2 boys is the one that will bully others one leh..i m fearing for the other mummies to come question me abt my boys liao..i remembered there were once Mav push his bigger-size indian classmate to the floor & the kid cried, so the teacher complained to my mum & my mum told Mav he cannot go home coz he push the bigger-size boy to the ground..wah, Mav can give my mum the "grin" look & pause for awhile before he started crying..then that 1 whole wk, my mum "nag" at him abt this pushing incident..i also hear till stress man..
 
u know.. to keep things simple.. lets jus remain e steamboat to week after la.. too lazy to ask for poll liao since some do not post in here frequently..

my mum also, although she is only 50+, she already talk like she is deaf like that. Talk on the phone also like shouting. piangz.. Sometimes even scold vulgar words.. I really dun like her friends. Always jio her to mahjong and casino.
 
I do believe pregnant eat too much crab/prawn wil result in poor complexion for bb.. My gal after born for 1st few months her face really jialat.. many many red rashes.. no nice one.. Then heard from one confinement lady that seafood v toxic one..

Fifi got steamboat place to recommend:

Tiong Bahru plaza there is a Rajah Inn steamboat place. Individual pots so you can choose wadever soup you want, no worries if some cannot take spicy, some can, etc. They also have cooked food. All included in the buffet pricing.

Its the same one as Marina Square but Marina's pricing is more ex & dun include drinks. Tiong Bahru's includes drinks.

Although honey seems like a wholesome and natural food to give your infant, don't do it until after she's at least 12 months old. Honey can contain spores of a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum, which can germinate in a baby's immature digestive system and cause infant botulism, a rare but potentially fatal illness.

These spores are usually harmless to adults and children over 1 year old, because the microorganisms normally found in the intestine keep the bacteria from growing.

To be on the safe side, don't cook with honey (in baked bread or pudding, for example) if your baby is going to be eating the finished dish. While the toxin is heat sensitive, the spores are difficult to kill. Commercial foods that contain honey, like ready-to-eat breakfast cereals and baby food, are safe for your baby because they've been heated enough to kill the spores.

The FDA has tested other sweeteners (such as light and dark corn
syrup) and not found the harmful bacteria. But it's a good idea to consult with your baby's doctor about which foods are the healthiest.

If your baby shows symptoms of botulism – constipation along with muscle weakness, trouble sucking, slack jaw, or crying and lethargy – see a doctor immediately.


I just googled the above. Should be safe after 1 YO, but I still have not let my boy try ;)

I kiasu, so I avoid giving Nat anything with honey, even honey flavored food.

Though on the allergy causing list, it also depends on individual. I'm sure there are kiddos out there who are ok with it.

I hv first hand experience with giving honey to kids. We took Aly to a bee farm and let her take (only) 1 tasting, and she "hit the jackpot". 1 tasting refers to 1 tiny weeny bit of honey on a tasting stick. Next day, she had the worst vomiting marathon one has seen. Nothing stays in her tummy. She just kept throwing up. We took her to her pd, though unconclusive, we were advised to keep her away from honey. Till now, we dun give her honey. We count our blessings that it could hv been worse.
 
my take is, if no real reason to give honey now, then wait till later lor. Quoting Karen's post, wait till bb's digestive system is more mature first?

Honey flavorings are probably harmless, IMO.
 
I let K sip on my honey drink 2 wks ago.
How about the syrup for McD hotcakes or KFC waffles? Is that honey too? She tried them b4

yest i was so hungry i kept tnking abt steamboat.. today i tink of having dinner later i already feel like vomiting.. its nonstop eating today!! Went to a popiah shop for lunch eat until stomach exploding.. then come back drink kopi eat samosa eat fries and then a bun!!!!

thanks to some of your replies.

i used to talk to the doc when he had his routine checkup, but e angmoh doc (polyclinic) stared at me, n told me, he's still young. hmmm..

soemtimes he does have eye contact, sometimes couldn't b bothered, just continue to do watever he likes/wants. when he was younger, whenever we call/talk to him, he sure eye contact...

he doesn't point too. he rather cry or stand at the table, signaling us he wants milk/water. when we ask him, u want water isit? then he will start to make the sobbing sound.

his motor skills quite ok lah. he started to walk independently at 13.5month. i think in language wise, he is rather slow, simply dun wish to speak a word. sometimes time can b hard as he dun talk, it's hard for us to know what he wants, or dunno if he knows all these or not. it's based on our understanding towards him then we know wat he wants
