Hello mummies,

Went for SL photoshoot today. Gee so tiring!! Must entertain baby, change him out of clothes and try to make him smile

Gerry: Yah, I also notice that baby tend to suck for comfort and he always fall asleep, so I didnt want to make it a habit. SO gradually i drop that last latch and bottlefeed instead. Though I must admit I am always tempted to latch him on esp when i come back fr work esp when he fusses, coz i also like the bonding time. Anyway hope ur baby outgrow this needy phase!

Jynnsan: I think it's really difficult for babies to sit still!! Basically today, all of us had to try to 'distract' him either by using his fav toys, snacks, wave at him to capture his attention

Of coz must make sure he has some zzz and fed before going. My bb didnt hv a long nap today but i think overall, the whole shoot went quite OK phew and Sean said he did well for a baby without much sleep haha.

Watching TV: I must admit sometimes I just let bb watch vcd/tv, to give me some breathing space. And he loves 'Baby can read'!! Can keep him quiet even with us out of his sight for abt 30 min. And I know my mum needs that to distract him. I guess nothing beats the face to face communication..

Lynn: Hmm me also thinking of a playgrp! Quite interested in the JG one, but may go see trial class first

glad_glad: the playgrp i don think i can join as i having my surgery that day.. u go look at it.. and feedback. me interested for brandon to go interact and at least let him have an activity every week.. stay at home always very boring for him.

TV: me too.. it's a great distraction and free time for me.. haha.. not so much energy to always face to face communication.. esp my brandon particular.. he super active and cannot sit still for 1 min..

temper and discipline: when can i start to discipline bb.. my discipline is try using others things to distract bb when he couldn get his way.. i wiil tell him "NO", me spanked his hands for being reali naughty.. he will scream if he couldn get his way.. do your bb also behave this way.. mine reali super NAUGHTY..

Lynn: Oh, didnt mean to join the playgroup posted by the dec mummies, as it is on a weekday! But I heard from sis in law that JG only have playgroup on weekdays for below 18 mths babies, which is out then coz we working rite?? Still no harm going for the trial class another time.

My SIL also recomm Little Neuro Tree. Havent check it out yet...

Discipline: SOmehow I think boys are more naughty??! Soemtimes really frustrating, when G starts to scream too esp when dont give him the things he want sigh! And sometimes he laugh when we 'spank' him, coz he like action.. dunno to laugh or faint

my boy now sleeps in the playpen, safer for him cause he wont be able to hurt himself when he wakes up..

normally i will say 'no' to him if he is going to do or touch something he shouldn't be doing, he understands it, but he'll try again after a while. He'll cry when i scold him, but usually i ignore his cries, after a while he'll stop liao and look for other things to play with. Funny thing is he don seem to feel anything when I spank him, but if I speak in a harsh tone den he will cry liao..

Feel so angry today, MIL gave baby chocolate biscuit,only knew it when i saw the crumbs on his mouth. Then when i tell her nicely next time don give, he cannot take chocolate and sugar now, she still can say, 'i only feed him a little only.' Argh....

sleeping :

Aden'sMummy, i read your notes on bb sleeping. Nat was sleeping thru b4 her fever a few weeks ago. Then after her fever, she grew super dependent on the milk bot to sleep.

1st nite after her fever, she wakes up every 3hrs after her 8pm feed for the milk bot but din drink at all.

2nd nite, i wanna make sure she is really not hungry but juz want her bot & confirmed tat she is. & she got worse, wakes almost every hr in the early nite.

3rd nite, i know i had to re-train her sleeping all over AGAIN & this time it's gng to b tougher coz she is sitting up & stand with support liao

so after her 8pm feed, i juz put her down in her cot & sit beside her to pat her. She cried, sit & try to hug me for 45mins b4 finally KO. & when she wakes at 3am, 5am, we ignored her, totally din go in coz my exp is she will cry even worse when she sees us. (Note : we put bumper at the rail of the cot so tat even if she knock on the rail, it's not gng to hurt so bad) only checked on her outside the bedrm door. Took her abt 30min to fall back to sleep.

4th nite, repeat. Took her less than 30min to sleep. & abt 10min to fall back to sleep when she wakes up at 5am.

5th nite, din cry when we put her to cot to sleep, took less than 15min to sleep. Sleep thru till 6+.

Hope her sleeping pattern will get better & better, my dream target is for us to kiss her nite nite & she juz lay down to sleep on her own & we walk out of her room with ZERO crying *dream*

it looks like u are making good progress with the sleep training. i am now slowly trying that with bb for her day naps but very consistent coz i normally latch her and she falls asleep (after refusing to sleep on her own in her cot)..keep it gg, am sure with time she will learn.

think could b bcoz she only gets to take nap at home on wkends but she sleeps at our place everynite bah.

Hello,

Lynn, forgot to say if u want a 2nd opinion for ur case? My gynae personally delivered 2 babies whose mums were on roaccutane and the bbs were fine. I asked him this becos i conceived 2 wks aft stopping roaccutane when the recommended period was 30 days. He is very experienced hence he might be able to advise u.

Kiki, help me update Z got 2 top and 2 bottom teeth. He is on 3 solid meals a day and TEBM.

Kiki,
I put into her mouth ask her to bite. Then i also show her by pretending to bite. When she bite and make the squeeky sound, i laugh at her to show her it's fun. Every now n then will bring sophie for her to hold, play and bite.

Aden's mummy,
been reading the notes over and over again and so far this is the best method for me and bb altho i still wish i can put him in the cot awake everynight!

so far i still have not succeeded in putting him on the cot to sleep on his own cos he been falling asleep for the past few nights with latching on. However, when he wakes up at 3am & 4+am crying... i just ignore cos the cries don't seem very desperate and lasts for abt 15-20 mins before he falls asleep again. Decided against going in to check cos he cries become more "cham" when he sees me. Then when he wakes up again at 6.30am i let him latch on then today, he slept again till 10am after latching! Am going to continue with this method hopefully the crying in the middle of the night will get shorter and shorter...

so far my bb still normally falls asleep while latching at night. but sometime, just this evening she was actually awake when i put her to bed. but she didn't cry, just mumbling to herself and playing a lil in her bed. fell asleep after about 15-20mins. have noticed that she can nap longer in her own cot during e day and if she wakes up she can go back to sleep on her own. before she could only sleep bout half hour in her cot and if she wakes up she can't fall back asleep. will continue to see if she can continue this self soothing to sleep pattern. =P

10am?? wow!! bb H is always up around 730am. this morning she woke up for a feed at 6am and slept aft that till 830am which is already later than most mornings. hahah..she is a light sleeper like me.

I see that you are making progress slowly but surely wor.. Jia you! I also used to latch Aden to sleep, then slowly changed to bottle feed instead, so that i can leave when he is drowsy. But use whichever method that works for u and ur family. As long as there's a consistency, baby will adapt der..

I agree that sometimes when they see us, they cry until more cham, so sometimes i gotta crawl outta the room and close the door, so that he wont see me.. its quite funny to imagine! hahaha

enne - ya really no worries abt teething, my cousin's bb got her first teeth after 1YO, and since the other few just popped out very quickly one after another.

re: 9mths' check
my gal had her check last weekend and PD did a HepB blood test too. any of yr bbies did the same test?

thick-skinned gal no reaction at all when kena pok pok for the test, must be too engrossed in munching the biscuit PD gave... now i know "tham jia" supersedes everything else, haha
