<font color="aa00aa">Cereal is Frisocream, 1 tablespoon to 30ml of hot water. Once a day at 10am feed. After cereal, if bb is still hungry, give half of milk feed (i.e. 90ml).</font>

diva and angel, i envy you manz.. 180ml per feed a a lot. my girl takes like half that 90ml per feed only, and won't even finish sometimes. dunno why, she used to be able to take 120ml but not anymore. maybe that was her growth spurt then..

do you introduce puree to your babies already? i was thinking of that or just feeding cereal only up till 6 months, since i tried home-cooked sweet potato and carrot puree she doesn't like either.. today when i make her her cereal meal must measure the amount of water already. yesterday gave her 2 teaspoons of dry frisocrem then dunno why added quite a lot of water, seems more water is needed compared with plain white/brown rice cereal to get the same consistency. after that she dun wan to drink milk already, think really filling?

how to give bb plain water? mine promptly spits it out.

every 2.5 hourly, depends on how many times she naps, basically will feed whenever she naps = 8 - 10 feeds per day

3. How much cereal are you giving? And how often?
Cereal is Healthy Times brown rice/Frisocrem, 2 teaspoons with water. Once a day at 5+pm (in between feeds).. my mum thinks frisocrem is giving my girl stomach wind - cos the FM is hard to digest. hmmm...

every 3 to 3.5hrly = 6 to 7 feeds

bought the frisocrem rice cereal but only intend to give bb once 6mths.
 
Baby Teething?

Hi mummies, my boy has fever 37.7 on Sunday, and his gum was red and swollen, so GP says he may be teething.

Then this week, he pattern pattern, wake up at 11pm or 2am for feed. And he doesn't finish his normal milk feed (150ml), also leaving 60ml or so behind.

Waste my EBM. I hope it is teething and this phase will pass soon. But where is the teeth???

Normally, no matter how I feed (by bottle or spoon), he will spit it out.
 
winter, my PD says gum irritation (teething pains) may start up to 2 months before the teeth finally appears..

mine wakes up crying, pulling out her pacifier and crying in the middle of the night. she used to be able to sleep through the night from 10pm to 6pm

Dana hates water too. Tried feeding her after cereal and she'll let let it spill out.

actually your girl and my boy same, though drinking little per feed but with more number of times so total milk intake would be 700- 800ml per day which is comparable to other babies so no worries :p
 
Feeding water

Same same, my boy also dont like water, either spit out or use his tongue to play with teats.. according to PD, max can take 60ml of water. i just told my mil to give watever amount 5 or 10ml also good.. sometimes, use spoon but also does not take too much

maro, mine is like 'force-feeding'.. very sad, gotta sneak in a feed whenever she naps, and got 2 extra feeds in the night at 11pm and 130am cos she used to sleep through so won't wake up for milk..

the situation now is already better than 4 weeks ago. now target to hot 700ml everyday and with one tiny meal of cereal, when she started her milk strike 4 weeks ago can only manage 500+ml a day

Charis is able to drink from a training mug, if from bottle, she will spit out.

She's Drinking 200ml
(6 scoops FM and 1 scoop nestle cereal)

How many milk feeds a day?
Every 3 hourly in the day.
Last Feed at abt 10pm. Sleeps until 7am.

How much cereal are you giving?
Afternoon - Lunch
About 10 scoops of cereal mixed with minimal water for thicker consistency.
This meal replaces milk.

Dinner/ Snack
Fruit / Veg Puree

She has been taking the milk this way since 2 mths and the cereal quite recently.
a few tablespoonful of cereal is insufficient for her. The meal will end up with wails and tears. A bowl is suffice to give me a contented baby.
So far my PD says ok to her intake of milk, cereal and fruits/veg.
Her weight ok despite the volume she is taking in.

Other than plain water i've started to give her abit of apple juice. one portion of juice to 3 portion of water.
She enjoys drinking of her training mug.

She doesnt like ppl to hold her training mug for her. So a non spill one is v useful.

She has got two Teeth at e lower gums. I just tried to give her Heinz teething rusk (for 6 mths and above). She is turning 6 mths this friday. She is enjoying the rub against the teeth and gums and the independence of holding her food. Guess it should be pretty yummy.
 
Lynn, faintz... 2 months? Oh my.... my boy same, at night pull out his pacifier and wail his lungs out. He used to be able to sleep from 7pm to 7am.

hiaz, all these difficulties (refusing milk, suddenly waking up crying at night when should be able tp sleep through) are all considered phases babies will go through right?

really wonder when my girl's disinterest in milk would cease.. dunno when she can be back to her old self, happily drinking milk again

very tired of tracking her feeds everyday and making sure she gets enough.

speaking of training mugs, i've Avent ones. maybe should let her 'play' with it already. what's other mummies using? now using soft sprout already or teat with training cup?
 
hmmm...

i just bought the soft sprout head to fit into my previously bought avent bottles...but havn't use it yet cos havn't get the handle for the avent bottles...

i also bought the pigeon training mug set(step 1, 2, 3) just in-case my ger reject the avent sprout...like she reject the avent teats...

I think now most babies start teething liao. Recently i found my boy got 2 pearly spots in his gum. Now he always like to throw temper and cry at night. Now drool alot and his cheek area got red rashes liao. Brought a few teether for him and he likes the teether with vibrates 1 (can massage his gum) kekeke.. :)
If baby start drool alot, need drink water to replenish else dehydrates.
Start using avent magic cup on him, he can't suck out the water. (Using soft spout for 6mths) Then i try on myself, need to suck quite hard can drink water. Dunno becoz it's brand new or wat.

Thanks for the responses! Our babies seem relatively similar in terms of milk intake.

Yesterday, Ethan had 1 milk feed at 6am and 4 cereal feeds at:
9am, 12pm, 3pm, 7pm - 4 scoops cereal + 4 scoops FM
He seemed to prefer eating his feeds to drinking them!

He again had 4 scoops cereal + 4 scoops FM for mid-morning snack. He usually has cereal+puree for teatime, that's the plan for today

We give him whatever he wants, he'll stop eating when he's had enough. Like Summer, there'll be lots of wailing and protesting otherwise.
His weight is ideal and he's 'tall' for his age.

Water:
Ethan drinks it just fine.
I give him water between spoonfuls of cereal, he generally takes it like a good boy.
As soon as he can sit up, I'll let him try drinking from a sippy cup.

Here's hubby's suggestion for successful water introduction:
For a post-cereal drink of water, give baby slightly diluted milk.
Gradually dilute the milk a little more every time. We believe that this slowly gets baby used to the tastelessness of water.
And hopefully over time, will have no problem drinking water whether it be from a spoon, bottle or mug.

Teething:
He's got 2 front teeth with another on the way. Though Ethan didn't develop a fever, it's normal for appetite to decrease.

Like Lynn said, it'll take awhile for the teeth to appear though I don't remember Ethan's taking 2 months. We mamas just have to stay strong cuz it'll pass and they won't even remember a thing.

Have you got infant paracetamol?
It's good to keep it handy if Ernest's fever continues. Try some teething gel if he's very cranky/bothered by the pain. I use Dentinox for Ethan and it seems to work well so far. It tastes like honey and he loves sucking it right off hubby's finger!

Does adding puree to Frisocream taste strange?
Since Frisocream already has FM in it and you're adding fruit puree to a milky cereal.
I thought of doing that for Ethan but the sheer thought of how it's gonna taste makes me cringe! Haha

no need to get that if u have ready avent bottles previously bought...
just get the sprout head and the handle to make up the set...

i also just get the head to fit my previously bought avent bottle(cos my ger reject the avent teats...make me retire all my avent bottles...)

i bought one to try. quite surprised how tightly leak-proof it is. my boy didn't know what to do with the spout and the water didn't flow out. maybe i should remove the silicone piece.

Am using pigeon mag mug and combi hello kitty mugs hahaha, Just let her try the pigeon mug but i scared got colic if she keeo sucking air instead of water hahaha. How to avoid them sucking air?

actually i kinda taste it before i give to bryan, personally it taste quite ok. i would say the fruit puree taste much better than the veg ones. anyway he still finishes whatever i gave him.
