joelle – my edd is 30 apr. I think gynae say my baby may come anytime cos of the BH contractions, cos having been having quite freq contractions since Mon. On tues nite, my contractions was actually abt 10 mins apart for abt 1+hr, hence decided to make a trip to gynae on wed although I just saw her last Sat. Last sat baby not engaged yet, but on wed engaged liao, thik was engaged on sun nite, cos felt her squirming around that nite and her movements seems diff from previously. When I told my gynae abt the contractions, she said sounds like my gal wants to come out really soon.

I thik cervix check would speed up the baby’s arrival, that’s why I told my gynae I dun want to do. She also said if do a quick check shld not speed up, but I did not want to take the risk. Want baby to try and grow a bit more before she comes out.

Hehe, was actually shocked when gynae told me the news that baby can come anytime, cos not mentally prepared. Somemore that day hubby cld not go with me to the checkup. Now on bedrest and ventolin to control the contractions.

calamari – wat’s the position of yr baby now? Is her head down? I did not feel it when baby’s head engaged. I actually thot we shld be able to feel, so was pretty shocked when gynae told me on wed that baby engaged liao. BH is when yr stomach tightens. Mine is 2 diff types. When I walk or sit nowadays, my stomach is very tight most of the time and it does not relax until I lie down. Gynae says that this is considered uterine contractions. When I lie down, I can actually feel the BH coming, you will get this feeling in your lower abdoman and then your stomach tightens, but it will relax after a while. Does not feel painful.

I guess LC Cheng is very pro natural. Saw him for a few months when I was trying for a baby, but decided to switch after I conceived cos his waiting time was simply too long, one time I waited 3 hrs!! But he is a very nice guy and very experienced, so I guess he will know best what to do in your case ;-)

calamari: yeh dun sterilize the tubes. but if thats water in the tubes juz let e pump run so that the water will get out.

good news, my baby byron's jaundice has gone down to 14. PD confirm its BM jaundice so no need to worry too much. But he still want me to stop BF till tomorrow. So relieved.

Re: BF

im giving up on BF. as im almost gone into depression. my BM is very thin and bb is always hungry. crying for milk as i cant satisfied her demand. since i have given birth, i have to time my clock to wakeup every 2hrs to feed her in the middle of the night. each day only few hrs of slp. am having sore throat from eating all the confinement food. cant rest well so affect my milk flow. plus my bb is having running and block nose. i feel so sad that i cant BF her. im a lousy mum!!!

dun feel sad. I think u may be feeling some blues at the moment. Try to perserve w BF and supplement w FM, if baby is cranky after feed. I have a hard time for the first few weeks. Build up on your own health first & rest well.

hi cheesycake,

maybe you pump out ur breastmilk and get someone else to feed for you. U have confinement lady? In that way, you get to rest and dun have to wake up every 2 hrs to feed ur baby. And ur baby get to drink some of ur breastmilk. Not enough then use formula, then wun have stress.

cheesycake: understd how u feel but nvr tink tat u r a lousy mum ok... perhaps u can try partial bf-ing like me. During d day, I will fully bf by latching n pumping alternatively n at nite during slp hrs, I will give FM but will still wake up once to pump to relieve engorgement. Tis way u won't be so tiring n can have ample rest. Dun give up totally...

Simp, i also underwent c-sec. Have not asked gynae abt No. 2 yet. But i was telling hubby that if want No. 2 then better hurry. Dont want to wait for my girl to settle down and we dont have to wake up at night already then have No.2.

Cheesycake, Try to persereve with BF-ing. But if you really want to give up, dont be upset abt giving up breastfeeding. I understand how you feel. I've already given up. Initially was because of low SS and the pain. Then I was still hesistant. Then SS went up by double. Just went SS went up, i got very bad rashes frm pumping though i've already clean and sterilised pump. So I really had to give up BF-ing. Initially I will keep crying, feeling very depressed. I felt that Im a really lousy mum, coz i cant give my girl the best. When i was feeding my girl the "last" bottle of EBM, i was crying also. I was practically in a depression. But now i try to go out for walks more often and think of BF-ing less.

Lebelle is so pretty! I've not caught a photo of my girl smiling!

Cheesycake - don feel lousy, at night u can give FM, do u hv CL? Can get her to feed FM or ur EBM. If not enough just top up with FM, don feel guilty.

Today i also hv some blues, i asked DH something then he replied me quite fierce, then i sat down and cry, also dunno why just cannot control my tears.

Oh so i not the only one, was feeling uncomfty. Everynight i sleep in aircon still perspire alot! Cant wait for confinement to end, confinement really sux.

hi cheesycake, actually you mentioned thin milk, i tot that was the foremilk, it is more watery and thin. after baby suckle for around 10 min, the hind milk shld come in. it is still thin but the colour is different. if you are eating healthily i don think there is a problem with your milk. my boy also wakes up around 2 hrs for feeding and at times even 1 1/2hrs.

bf is tough... i have to agree. but don feel bad if you are giving up. you have tried your best liao. tell yourself, if got bm feed bm, if no bm no harm supplementing wif fm. don get too stress over bm.

if not y not latch on in the day time and at nite supplement with fm so at least you can get more rest time at nite.

I can't feel his head engaged. only found out when the doc told me. however sometimes i can feel pressure on my pelvic floor. i think may be his head moving or burrowing.

I think what you are feeling is BH! painless contractions. I get them too but not frequent and too inattentive to time them

hi cheesycake, do not give up on BF. Its really good for your baby and yourself. Maybe take the advise of others, express some and mix with FM first. Once you feel better I am sure your supply will increase.

My baby byron also feeds every 2 hrs or less. In fact if i sense any signs of hunger I will feed him coz i want his jaundice to release through his poo. Must always think positive alright! In fact I think FM is more troublesome..... need to wash the bottles, sterilised, burp him etc. When I BF, I just feed him, put back to bed and I go back to sleep!

So must preserve okies! you can do it!

Oh yes, his queue is still damn long lor. Average time is still 1.5 to 2 hours keke. And yah lor, he is very pro natural, didn't even want to do any cervix check last 2 weeks as it would induce labour.

joelle: Heh heh heh! My hubby and I are like you, hoping it will be 13 Apr but nothing happen leh, only BH. I hope to have a natural delivery and will avoid c-sect at all costs. But if no choice, then bo bian lor, keke. I feel so heavy leh, like an elephant. And realised that I have put on 1.5 kg this week, not very good, cos I don't want my bb to grow any heavier, wait very hard to have natural delivery. As for period cramps-like feeling, I have been having that for 3 days but still no sound no picture, sianz. Good that you are still working. I regret taking ML last week, waste my whole week of leave man! Plus nothing to do, really waste of time. Tomorrow, I shall see what my gynae say. Like you said, hopefully I have dilated, at least natural delivery will stand a higher chance.

Meanwhile, you also must be patient. Don't be like me, so gan jiong, until bb don't want to come out!

Cheesycake: Dun give up on BF. I am in my third week already.. but my ss when I pump out is like only 60- 70 ml. After latching, I will also pump for another 15 mins for both breast to empty out if there is still BM available (standard 20 -30ml).
sometimes a bit crazy one.. pump out can hit 100 - 120 ml). I have started to take the herbal supplement from GNC "Fenugreek" to help increase BM ss.

At night try to rest more, you can pump out the BM and ask ur hubby or CL to feed baby then you go and rest. I have once tried to rest for about 5 hours, and I managed to pump out abt 110ml. So rest is important..

strawberries: hehe, looks like you also same as me. Edd = 15th apr, but baby still comfy inside. What is the reason why gynae want to induce you? Most gynaes will want to wait 1 week after EDD before induction. My case was because I have gestational diabetes, so chances have to induce as baby is too big.
