Xiang,Stefy, Calamari: Eh babes, how r u all? Been shopping & walking around? I just keep "movin" to try open the cervix... BUt getting tired man. Back aches are getting worse, and now there's this pressure on my left thigh. Sometimes a strain on the bk of left thigh like I din stretch myself well after a run. DO u gals hv any such aches?

Tsukushi - tik i alternate abt 5 times each, massage a while only while pumping. haha. Actually i also trial and error only. My gynae say i got milk so ask me to keep massaging.

How does your gynae check whether you have milk? I tried your method just now, and was surprised that after I switched back, still can get a bit!

tsukushi, cheesycake: i drink alot of water everyday and milk ss no issue. i dun have water retention too so quite lucky. If i do not drink enough water, my milk supply will dip. try taking more fish and papaya soup or meat to increase. i think it helps.

My due date is supposed to be today but i have given birth abt 2 weeks earlier. Taking care of baby is so tiring especially @ night. My bb seems to be more active @ night than day time.

Breastfeeding @ night time is so tired. was thinking of using FM @ nite. Can i know wat brand are you using for those feeding FM.

the weather so hot. do u let u bb wear long sleeve top & long pant during day time? i wonder bb how to tahan like tat. im getting crazy, weather so hot now!!! i alrd bath with herbs liao. hair so smelly lolz.

tsukushi: initially when i fed my bb with FM she can slp up to 4hrs without waking up for milk. so FM is filling for bb unlike BM where u hv to feed her 2-3hrs daily. BM contain more water. if u BF u will notice bb stools not so thick and smelly. so its good for them esp to prevent constipation.
as for more ss, drink more water. it helps for me! before BF, remem to massage! it will increase ur milk flow.

gervynne: im using mummy poko & pamper newborn. so far so gd! my mum keep warning me not to drink water. but i dont care loh. i agree it helps, i got more ss when BF.

Personally, i dont believe in taking supplements to increase milk flow. Very unnatural... As long as u are doing TBF, u will sure hv enough milk....

Ichiban for Day Use. so far my boy is ok w e cheaper brand diaper.
Going to use Nepia too after finished off w e Pampers & Ichiban coz it's gd.

Gervynne - i using pampers NB now, its from hospital. I got 2 pcs of drypers new born so i tried, size seem very small for NB, very tight. Don really like it cos its bit more bulky than pampers. Have yet to try mamy pokos.

Hi all, would like to ask those mummies who are TBF. Do you still express after latching on? my boy, 12 days old, will feed on one side for 10 - 15 mins then can sleep for 3 hrs. But the breast which was not latched on will be engorged. I scared if i were to express after latching, i will have oversupply and nx time if weaning will have plenty of problems.

Cheesycake / yo - my bb i dressed in long sleeves, i duno if she felt hot but so far she hasnt really perspire. My bb more scared of cold cos i put her in aircon room she will start to sneeze and shiver.

mushloom - u are blessed with so much milk that ur bb can sleep for 3hrs after drinking.
Would think its good to express out the other side if not u will be engorged. Somemore EBM can be freezed for certain period. Once ur bb gets bigger, will be asking for more SS then ur EMB can be used.

cheesycake, my baby only wears rompers for the whole day (day n night), i bought alot of those sleep and play, long sleeve, long pants rompers type, she'll just kept kicking and punching and crying. I think it's really uncomfortable with the heat.

Starlet, my bb is on friso.

Gervynne, baby is solely using Goon. Cheap and good. It's very soft not like drypers, feel hard and looks like wearing it long term will cause abrasion at the thighs area.
I agree that dryers NB seems smaller.

I guess i better start drinking more water to increase SS. Hope it helps.
Agree that massage helps. Everytime when no more milk, i'll stop pumping, massage for awhile and continue pumping. Though still not much but at least there is some milk coming out.

chewy: our EDDs are the same! So we'll probably be able to catch each other at TMC. Hehe. I am starting my ML tomorrow, but so lazy, never go out and walk. Today went to office, pack my table, go to church, that's all. I dunno where to go and walk leh. Everywhere so crowded and I have nothing to buy. Maybe tomorrow I go downstairs to the poolside walk walk. My aches only come in the morning when I wake up and before I go to bed. Otherwise its still ok. The pain is at my right upper thigh and right butt. My hubby massaged for me until blue black haha. And I really do not think my bb is engaged yet, don't feel like what others have described as a "bowling ball between my legs".

tsukushi: I don't think I am able to go drug-free. Already told dr I die die also want epidural hehe, cos my pain threshold super low.

koori: congrats again on having such a cute baby!

will try to drink more water! hope it helps me. my cl says cannot drink water too but I dun care her sometimes. felt super heaty with the red dates+ginger tea.

I just finish latching n bb fell asleep. brought him back to bed and he was fidgeting a lil but eyes still closed. then cl said he was still hungry n fed fm again. sometimes I wonder if cl is trying to eat snake n force fm to bb so that she can sleep earlier...or she really meant well? it's only 1 wk, a bit buey tahan already. esp when she keeps feeding fm n then say I not enough ss. just now at 4+ pm, bb latched, then she fed him ebm + fm. after that he slept all the way till midnight, n I had to pump.

tsukushi: i think u shld talk to ur CL. sometimes when i finished feeding my bb she will open/close her eyelid and move here and there. its norm, not necessary must go to slp after milk/ bb is still hungry. norm how long u latch ur bb on? u will hear him swallowing loudly and ur breast will become soft after BF. ur bb will detach his mouth naturally if he's alrd full.

koori: my PD mentioned sometimes it due to dust that y bb sneeze. coz their nose is still sensitive. when i put my bb in aircon room i will adjust the temperature to 27.

BF-ing mummies, do you get lumps at the armpit area? I got a shock when i found lumps at both sides!

actually i only drink red dates tea made by my confinement lady. she also make me a big bowl of soup for lunch and dinner. think you must take in plenty of fluid ba. my first week ss was quite low too and had bad engorgement. so i expressed at 3 hr interval and even during the middle of the night i will wake up just to express. then slowly build up the ss. initially didnt feel good cos confinement lady always have to supplement wif fm in the middle of the night cos she say my boy very impatient, cannot wait for the warming of the EBM, but slowly i noticed that my ss seems to be able to satisfy my baby's demand so i went on TBF.

calamari, the diapers will already cover the umbilical cord.
According to my mum, keeping the umbilical cord is a must. In the olden days, ppl will just wrap up in a tissue paper and keep lo. Or keep in those air tight containers and tie a red ribbon.
But will prob lose them while moving house,etc. So i chose to keep in the stamp.

I am using pampers and mamy poko for my girl. I like pampers as they have indicators if she has pee. Mamy poko also not bad as they r super dry. I like pampers best. Dryers i have yet to use but i heard not so good.

These few days, bb is sleeping longer like 4 to 5 hrs before bf. So if she only drinks one side, i will pump the other side to relief the fullness or standby to feed her with ebm when she demands milk. I put ebm on constant bottle warmer for her.

I also c-sec. I told mum to prepare light food for me for the 1st 2 week as confirmed by my tcm doctor. Mainly fish, pork, soupy and steamed food. Easy on stomach and wound heals better. No seafood if u want to bf as they are complex to breakdown and can cause skin allergy on bb since immune system is not fully developed like adults also. People say no eggs and chicken also in 1st 2 weeks in case the wound is itchy. I tried eggs, it is ok, wound doesnt itch. On 3rd week u can start to take tonic stuff. Must monitor bb' temperature as we take tonic stuff since it is more heaty. No ginger, garlic,onion and alcohol like DOM for 1st 2 weeks also.

Zishumo, the article is v informative! Increase milk ss, i drink a lot of fluid, be it water, milo, red date longan tea or etc. As long as u drink plenty of fluid be it room temp or warm, sure boost BM. Drink like 15 mins before bf and after bf. U will feel v thirsty also as u bf. Soup such as black bean soup, papaya fish soup increase ss very fast also the same day and next day.

how do u increase your supply? today is my day 3, i still have no milk for my bb... she is drinking fm now...
i tried to use e pump, no milk too.. only a clear watery come out... what is that?

back from my gynae checkup...has confirm that is contractions and i have dilated about 1.5cm.
Given order by gynae to check into the hospital early tomorrow morning...

think my gynae will induce me tomorrow...

I have delivered on 1st April. C section.

I also have problem of low milk ss. For my 1st baby, I have alot of supply. But for this 2nd one, my supply very low. And I dun direct bf, as always bleed. Can only pump about 50ml both sides each time, about 25ml each side. I have to pump 2 times then enough for my girl to drink 1 time. So most of the time, my girl drink formula.

I have tried green papaya fish soup, but still the same. dun know how come supply so low.

drinking water : hmm.. not suppose to drink water. not sure how it affect breastmilk. but my mother feed me fish/silver fishes everyday.. suppose will increase milk flow. My flow is quite stable.

celine, i'm giving up on BF-ing already. Low SS, painful nipples, really very stressful and tiring that i kept crying.
So hubby wants me to stop bf-ing already, before i get depression.
I've already tried taking alot of fluid and soups but still no increase at all.
