Hi,

I'm organising BP for Dr Brown's bottles.
Some information about Dr Brown's Bottles below:

Description:
A revolutionary bottle system designed by a doctor to prevent colic, gas, and ear infections. Eliminate painful gas and colic in your baby with this innovative feeding system. This award-winning bottle features an internal vent that eliminates air bubbles and vacuum formation, facilitating a continuous flow of milk that mimics breastfeeding. The vent also helps prevent fluid from gathering in your baby's ears, reducing the chance of ear infections.

The 2004 American Baby Best of the Year (AMBY 2004), recognizes products babies cant live without. Approximately 12,000 readers of American Baby Magazine wrote to tell their three favorite baby products. Over 36,000 votes were tallied and Dr. Browns baby bottle was ranked #15 on the list, winning an AMBY 2004 Honorable Mention Award. Dr. Browns received this award due to the bottles "colic fighting" internal vent technology. Readers said "The design is ingenious because theres very little spit-up, burping and gas after baby drinks. It made my baby happy again."

For the second year in a row, the Dr. Browns Natural Flow baby bottle received a Best of Year Award from American Baby magazine. Our 2005 AMBY is for 4th place, as declared by readers, among all baby products that moms cant live without. American Baby noted of our bottles, Their unique design works to reduce gas and spit-up, sometimes ending colicky behavior. One parent commented, They made a huge difference: less fussiness, less burping.

FAQ:

Does the Dr. Browns Natural Flow baby bottle really work?

Yes it does. When babies feed they suck milk or formula from the bottle through the nipple. As the liquid leaves the bottle, air enters in through the vent to take the place of the milk or formula. Our patented internal vent allows the air to enter and directs it to the area above the liquid, keeping the air and the liquid separate. Because there is no vacuum to inhibit the flow of liquid, babies can feed at their own pace.

Why is it good to prevent a vacuum from developing in the bottle?

There are two major problems associated with most traditional baby bottles: air and vacuum. Air ingested by babies can cause discomfort, sleepless nights, gas, spit-up, cramps, and other symptoms associated with colic. A vacuum in the bottle can transfer air to a babys middle ear and can encourage fluid to be drawn in. Traditional and restrictively vented bottles tend to develop vacuums when babies feed from them because babies need to suck progressively harder to get any liquid from them. Babies seal their lips to the nipple when they nurse, but as the vacuum increases they ingest air through a weakened nipple seal. Air enters the bottle through the vent in the nipple and aerates the formula; this air is ingested.

Can the bottle be used to heat formula in the microwave?

We do not recommend using a microwave oven to heat the formula, or the bottle. To check the temperature of liquid in the bottle, test the nipple by pulling on the bulb portion, and replace if nipple shows any signs of wear.

What is the difference between the Dr. Browns Natural Flow standard baby bottle and the Dr. Browns Natural Flow wide neck baby bottle?

All the Dr. Browns Natural Flow baby bottles share the benefits of the patented internal vent. Many breast-feeding mothers prefer the Dr. Browns Natural Flow wide-neck bottle as the nipple has a broader base, which can avoid nipple confusion for the baby. The standard Dr. Browns Natural Flow bottle carries the standard bottle nipple.

Is that a straw in the Dr. Browns baby bottle?

No it is not a straw, it is a reservoir tube and its the part of the vent that allows air to enter the bottles and be directed to the area above the liquid, keeping the air and the liquid separate.

Can I sterilize the Dr. Browns bottles?

Yes, you may put them in a sterilizer or boil them in water.

Will Dr. Browns bottle connect to breast pumps?

Most breast pumps are designed to connect directly to bottles shaped like Dr. Browns Natural Flow baby bottle, model numbers 150 (4oz) and 250 (8oz). The Dr. Browns Natural Flow wide neck bottle will only attach to breast pumps that have been designed to fit larger neck bottles.

Why does my bottle leak?

The patented vent provides an air passage way that allows air to enter the bottle which allows the baby to nurse without fighting the negative affects of the vacuum found in other baby bottles. Under certain conditions the milk or formula can exit through the vent. For example if the liquid is overheated the expanding air inside the bottle pushes the liquid through the vent causing leakage. Or if the bottle is shaken to mix formula the liquid may enter the vent and leak. Also if the bottle isnt held properly and the end of the reservoir tube is submerged in the fluid leakage may occur.

What can I do if I have lost a part of the vent?

Replacement parts are available in stores and located in the same area where you purchased your bottle. If you have difficulty finding the replacement parts you need please call our customer service department for a store location nearest you.

Is it necessary to only use Dr. Browns nipples on my Dr. Browns bottles?

Because the Dr. Browns baby bottle is fully vented it requires a unique nipple. Other bottles have a vacuum inside that restricts the flow of liquid, and because of the vacuum the nipples on these bottles tend to have a very large hole. Using one of these nipples on a Dr. Browns baby bottle could result in feeding you baby much to fast, possibly causing the baby to choke.

Can I use Dr. Browns nipples on other brands of bottles?

Dr. Browns nipples are of the highest quality. However they are specifically designed for the Dr. Browns baby bottles and should not be used on other brands of bottles. The Dr. Browns nipple does not have a vacuum operated rim-vent like other brands of bottles. If a Dr. Browns nipple is used on an un-vented bottle the baby may experience feeding difficulties and could experience the discomfort commonly described as colic.

Can I use my Dr. Browns bottles without the vent?

The vent is an essential part of the Dr. Browns system and is required to prevent the vacuum found in other brands of bottles.

jaspire

i just re-post some mum fr may thread comment on diapers here:

Hello everyone,
When I have my first bb, I also thinking of using disposable diaper but after using it for sometime, I change it to cloth diaper. V exp. to use disposable diaper esp. when u are BF your bb. The bb can poo up to 6-7 times a day. And normally the "qty" is very little. therefore, I use a diaper liner, use and throw. Tt way, it won't stain the cloth diaper too much and easy to wash.

One more time, if you are buying disposable diaper, dont buy a lot lor. Some bb have sensitive skin (like mine), the diaper might not be suitable for their delicate skin. I have tried Nepia, dryper, pamper, mamy poko, EQ & huggies. Only pamper and mamy poko suit my gal. The best are still mamy poko brand.

jaspire
i will use cloth diaper in the day & pampers at nite. u may like to consider 2 packets, as the newborn size are quite big for our bb, it actually can last for awhile, before switching to S size.
actually now mamy poko & huggies all carry newborn diapers liao. & they are much cheaper compare to pampers.

jamie, you are the oni person to tell me NB diapers is quite big for our bb. I was told some bb outgrow the NB diapers within 5 - 7days wor. I already got the Pampers NB diapers. So dun think i will buy anymore. Just worried I have too many if my gal outgrow fast. LOL! Maybe gal wont grow big so soon?

jaspire
personally i dont tik they will outgrow within such short period of time. my ger was born at 3.34kg which is consider quite big but i find the pampers NB size is big for her leh.

hello everyone! i'm new here, baby's due on 2 apr - hope i'm not too late to join in your thread. wow sounds like you gals already have done a lot of shopping for the baby huh? must tell me what i need to get
