my birth story...natural assisted delivery for me with epi.
<u>8Oct2004</u>
630pm - spotting discovered, didnt pay attention cos tot it'll go away. didnt even feel any contractions or pain (some pp say u shld feel excruciating pain around ur lower back)
930pm - spotting still around. called gynae. she said too early for me 2 pop (i only 35wks+) n she even asked if i had sex recently. i told her NO! stopped all sexual activities since 32wks. gynae said 2 monitor n if spotting continues, c her 1st thing in e next morn

230am - went 2 pee n still got spotting
9am - woke up, still got spotting
10am - water bag burst while i walking 2 carpark. a huge gush of water rushed down my legs. husband & i panicked, called gynae who told me 2 RUSH down 2 MAH asap.
went back 2 shower, pack hospital bag while husband rushed down 2 buy sanitary pads (i didnt wanna use maternity pads).
1130am - reached MAH, water bag fluid still flowing
12pm - reach delivery ward waiting room, husband went 2 settle admission paperwork.
1230pm - given a jab 2 prepare bb's lungs (gynae said bb considered premature so need 2 jabs)
7pm - gynae visited me. i dilated only 1.5cm
from 1230pm-12midnite, i merely rested on bed while e nurse strapped me 2 check 4 contractions BUT i cant feel anything at all despite e CTG machine showing tat i have mild contractions, e midwife did cervix check 2-3x, i watched tv. husband went back at 1pm+ 2 wash bb clothing, bring more things for my hospital bag, cleaned up e hse (since he'll b wif me at hospital for e next 2-3days). he came back abt 6pm, stayed wif me til 11pm+ (he's not allowed 2 spend e nite at e delivery waiting room).

12am - nurse gave me e 2nd jab 2 prepare bb's lungs
1230am - gave me sleeping pill but i was able 2 feel my contractions so cant sleep.
1230 to 6am - i slept on & on for 20/30mins periods. cant sleep soundly at all. e nurse is very shocked tat even wif e sleeping pill, i didnt KO. i told e nurse contractions a bit painful & distracting so hard 2 sleep.
6am - i moved 2 e delivery suite no.2. midwife asked me if i wanna take enaema (i said no). i told her wif all e contractions i getting thru out e nite, i kept running 2 e toilet n i kept passing bowels nonstop (it's as if e contractions is forcing my bowels out each time).
730am - husband came n we discussed abt using epi. midwife showed us e letter of undertaking i need 2 sign if i take epi. contents of letter is scary so we decided not to.
8am - breakfast served...a small bowl of fish porridge, cup of milo was served.
830am - i was put on drip 2 induce my bb. e contractions were killing me then. so Fxxxxxx painful.
930am - gynae came & check on me n i was only 3.5cm dilated. gynae said i'm too tense so didnt dilate fast enuff. if i dun use epi, i can lie on tis bed until midnite n i wont deliver yet. gynae said i MUST use epi. no choice...signed letter of undertaking
10-1030am - anaethestist came, administer e epi while husband stop on my side. he not allowed 2 watch while e guy inserted a long needle into my spine.
1030am - RELIEF...no more pain so i finally slept. nurse came in to insert a urether so i can pee into e bag since i cant move now wif e epi bag attached 2 me.
1130am - 5cm dilated, no lunch for me cos once on epi, cant eat
1pm - 7cm dilated, midwife informed gynae over e phone n gynae said i shld deliver by 3pm at e rate i'm going.
130pm - my bb's heartbeat dropped suddenly from 110-130 to 7-80. midwife came in quickly, said my bb is in duress cos kan cheong 2 come out (he's probably barging his head at my 7cm dilated cervix).
acting on gynae's instructions, midwife quickly stopped e drip n bb's heartbeat went back 2 normal.
4pm - still 7cm dilated. midwife called gynae n said i must go back on drip if not i can b 7cm forever. i talked 2 my bb, told him not 2 b kan cheong n mummy'll c him soon
was put back on drip, bb's heartbeat ok
530pm - 9cm dilated. gynae also came, pointed my water bag (despite my water bag bursting on sat morn, it didnt burst at e cervix, it burst somewhere in my womb)
545pm - 10cm dilated. started pushing. me too tired & hungry so no energy 2 push well. gynae used a forceps 2 pull my boy out. i didnt push well too at 1st try wif forceps. gynae said "2 more tries wif forceps n my bb still not ok, she'll need 2 do emergency c-section". e moment i hear emergency c-section, i use my watever leftover might n pushed once...my bb is out at 553pm.
