dsiitan, my gynae say is the tightening of the the tummy, like table hard, from bottom to upper, then is call contraction.

Hi Dsiitan, PM & Gebbera,

My weight remains same since last wk checkup and shows signs of the amniotic fluid is reduced, as my blood pressure has been unstable so doc abit worry. Thur (6/7) went for checkup and the next day fri (7/7) i reduce by 1 kg leh...so doc adv me to rest and go back on tue to see if induce is necessary.
 
Hi sugar, I'm abit like u. Weight either remain the same or lost 200 to 300grams.. but bb size is ok (advise by gynae) These days i have been having dizzy spells.. dunno is it low blood pressure. Amniotic fluid also low. Going to see gynae on monday, prob going to do a check on bb's heartbeat. Gynae advised might have to induce if amniotic fluid drop further

dun worry lah...ur doc knows the best...me too went checkup on 6/7..he said my bb too big...3.2 at wek 36..so if bb too comfy inside me and wanna wait till full term...will exceed 4kg...then hor..he asked me go back to him again at 13/7..see if bb that time weight already 3.5-3.6kg..then he will asked me to induce too..so i said ok loh...can birth naturally ..i happy liao...so...just follow his advice...dun u worry too much...be happy and wait for her little one's arrival!!!!

Good morning to everyone here.

Wau...sunday you gals also so active. 1st night back home yesterday, had a quite tiring night. Baby is active at night like when in my wife womb. So had to pacify him from 3am to 6am. Now will try to play with him more in the day so that he got not much energy left in the night.
 
brambles, when doing the ultrascan (if urs is done every visit), gynae will see from the scan. its the dark area ard the bb if u look into the monitor... gynae will measure the width if he thinks the level is low.

hello all mummies!

me discharged from kkh yesterday,bb gal arrived safely on 6 jul 2354 hrs, weighing 2.6 kg at 37 weeks

i think being a first time mother, d whole labour is always an unforgetable event...

on 5 jul afternoon, went for my normal check up n gynae decided i should be induced d next morning cos my amniotic fluid was below normal level n im actually having slight contractions already

6 jul 2am - admitted myself at kkh delivery suite, CTG detected contractions so doc on duty decided to monitor cos my contractions may get stronger then i dun need to be induced

11am - no progress so gynae break waterbag n was put on drip for induction labour

12 noon - could feel d contractions gettin stronger, cervic only dilated 1 cm

1pm - requested for epidural

4.30pm - dilated 3 cm

bb heartbeat unstable a few times cos not enough amniotic fluid when contractions get stronger, thus sometimes they hv to reduce d drip flow to slow down contractions resulting in slower dilation

7pm - dilated 5 cm, gynae said by 12 midnight 1 am if no progress gottta c-sect

9.30pm - bb's heartbeat sudden drop to 70/min, many pple came in...gynae was called back
epidural taken off n drip reduced...heartbeat stabilized after awhile

10pm - cervic dilated 7 cm, nurse asked if got urge to push or feel like passing motion. no feeling yet so waited. as epidural was taken off, d pain got more n more intense

11 pm - dilated 10 cm, pain was unbearable,started pushing...push n push...push n push...no strength...no breath...

1154pm - almost there but bb's head not in alignment, finally was delivered with forceps

so me now then got strength to log in to share my story. very sad cos no BM for bb despite massaging n pumping. latch bb on, she tried sucking but nothing so dun wan liao.

MIL gave bb FM for d time being. im still trying to TBF, not sure if i shld go buy an electric pump

any advice for me mummies?
 
Wife is abit tired becoz we decided to go on total breastfeeding. No water, no glucose, no formula milk at all. Plus we wanted to bring up Gerrard without the use of pacifier and sarong.
Alot of "advice" here and there from others, but we still firmly believe we are giving the best to him. Plus at the same time, our little nephew is having PSLE this year, she is giving her tution even as of now while she is doing confinement.

However, I think as a husband play a equal important role to share the burden, need to help in massaging the breast to prevent engorement, burp the baby, change the soil diapers, bath the baby etc. I got no problems with all these and we are currently happy in way things are going.

Notice 2 impt things about babies, they really don't like to be in a cold room, temp about 28-29 is good for them. Next, burp, burp, burp and burp the baby even though you are on TBF. It helps, I learn the hard way. Initially the baby migh reject you burping him, don't give up, in time to come, he will enjoy it. Gerrard enjoy burping now, sometimes even fell asleep. After burping he will have a good nite rest.

Congrats!! Same birthday as my baby Gerrard. 1st 2 day of breastfeeding is all colostrum, no milk at all. But colostrum is one of the best antibodies that no FM can duplicate. Don't give up try try and try.

If you got problems, I suggest you attend one of the breastfeeding class in TMC's parentcraft. I am sure Mrs Wong would be able to give you advice and teach you how to properly latch on. It's hard to describe it over the net.

For you, now is abit difficult. And I really got no insights for this due to a few things.

1. Baby pick up habits very fast. You have switch to bottle FM feeding. She might have nipple confusion and reject the breast now.

2. Bottle teats then to be easily to suck and obtain the FM. So even if properly latch on, once she find it difficult, she might reject.

So my advice is really to ask from the expert Mrs Wong at TMC parentcraft. She is amazing....trust me, even though I am the father.

As for the rest, remember if you intend to go for TBF, 1st 2 days, let the baby latch on, it will be difficult in the 1st 2 days as colostrum is very little, but don't give up. In doubts, ask the nurse, no extra money will be charge, make the use of them to the fullest. And to all daddy, we have to be there to support and help out whenever we can.....ALL they BEST to the rest.

Wah this coming week many many good news... my wify went to see doctor on 8Jul, he say bb weight okay, now into 37 week + also okay, like many of you, Amniotic fluid also low, this one not so okay.... so he suggest go back on 13/7 to do a CTG in the afternoon, then later at nite, check into Hotel TMC... he will prob break the bag and welcome the BB....

It was really tough to let baby latch on esp 1st 2 days. She kept crying coz only colostrum. I have requested to cup feed formula to baby in hospital. Even now at home, my mum cupfeeds my baby after I latch her on. She will be latched for 5 mins and then kept crying. Quite a headache. Me try to pump like 2-3x a day and the expressed milk (like 10ml each time) will be kept for her during cup-feeding. How to make her latch on longer??
 
Lala u have delivered ur baby. congrats!

I think ur position is wrong that is why u baby doesnt want to latch on. If u still have difficulty better go back to TMC and learn again. Expressing 2 to 3 times a day is not enough. Try to time ur expression just like baby feeding on u so ur body will be able to produce milk in time.

I really think it is a case to case basis, no mother or baby is the same. Our baby Gerrard love to latch on, about 15 to 20 mins for each side. My wife will then express after the feeding for storage, normally about close to 100ml in total for both side.

A few important things I learn from Mrs Wong:

1.Wake the child up, play with the baby before feeding, also take the opportunity while my wife is preparing to massage the baby stomach to get rid of wind.

2. After finishing one side, burp the baby 1st before latching to the other side. This will ensure that the wind is get rid of and the same time wake the baby up again.

3. Make sure both the mummy and baby is comfortable, the baby nostril must not be block completely. Positing is important, the only way to learn and find out, practice, practice and practice. DO NOT while breast feeding, poke your finger at your breast to try create free space for baby nostril, you will only create sore nipple for yourself as the nipple will hit the top of the mouth.

4. Last but not least, it is the time for mummy to build bonds, so talk to your baby while you feed to keep the baby awake.

i latch him on, he will fall asleep, put him on bed, cry. carry till he sleep, put him on bed cry. leave him on bed also cry! sigh... white flag sia!!

Liverpool - wow, ur wife is a cow sia! after latching for 15-20mins, still can pump out 100ml??

liverpool, you are "xin xin daddy" le...and i can just hear mrs wong in my head when reading your posts...i asked my hb to read your postings too so that he will know what to do when the time comes.

I would not say I am an expert nor am I experience now. Everyday is a learning experience to me. I am just sharing what I have been through so that others here will have an easier time. Parenting is an tiring but fufilling process.

Not cow liao. I believe we did something correct, that is during the 1st 2 days to just endure and let him latch properly. When the milk comes on the 3rd day, after feeding, we quickly follow up with expressing it, so that the breast are all empty.

Another thing to share, hubby pls remember to help massage your wife, not only during engorement, but everyday if possible before feeding. It will prevent engorement (which is super painful, trust me), and it will improve the milk flow so that baby will get milk faster and easier.

You can attend all the classes, read up all to better prepare yourself, but when it comes to the real handling of baby. It is a totally different experience. But see the baby grow everyday is such a joy. I am sure you gals will all enjoy it in times to come.

My gynea say my BB is big enough to deliver any time Liao. Now is just waiting for the D Day to come. Hiaz.. wait again and those sleepness &amp; breathless nite.

hong - actually i dun usually carry my bb. (altho my hubby does! :p)

but i think he has colic + gassy tummy. he takes GREAT pain to just poo/fart! aiyoh....

but my mom says it's becos yesterday morning, we told him tat we wan to bring him out. But it rained, so we told him cannot go out liao. so he protest, by dun wan to sleep for the whole afternoon (also refuse to sleep becos scare tat me and hubby goes out without him) dunno how true lah. :p

Hmm... how come her bb poo so early? thot she will only be due on 16th jul, after due date then bb will poo inside, right?

aiya..just now no ppl mah..then i see all ppl ordered 2 pkts of elcairs..so i order too loh..haha..if too much can bring some to MIL's hse mah..i scare i go birth cannot order liao cos no one to go and take mah..i abt to ask u leh...u wanna orderthe strawberry or not?? got slot leh..hehehe
