jp, my new house... gt to discuss reno, n this contractor v bad de.. after we sign the contracr he come n tell us, this n that cannot do, if wan hv to top up $$.... sianz
 


PM, same here... me also always awaken by heartburn... then kept wanting to burp then felt like vomitting... very xin ku hor... sometimes sleep halfway, need to sit up straight becos heartburn getting worst...

JP, ya loh... every corner of katong you can see the signboard "zheng zhong katong laksa"... haiz... but i think the real one is at the overheard bridge, just underneath the escalator...
 
Geb - Good luck with the appt! Maybe good news and can see bb soon!!!

PM - most contractors are like that...we had our share when we bought our home too. Must not give in..keep telling them, you promise hor.. if we did not do that hor, our toilet bowls, sink and other stuff will end up of a cheaper version but we still will pay the same $$$

I'm still here. Tummy getting tighter and feet more swollen. My fingers are also getting stiff and painful. Changed my appt to Sat...
 
Hi Lok! Same here, tummy tighter, feet also swollen, hands (esp finger tips) numb and painful also. Good luck with the appt on Sat. Hope that you will have some good news and will see bb soon.

remember not to pay full amt to your contractor at one shot... must breakdown into afew payments... that's what my contractor did last time... they breakdown into 5 payments if i remembered correctly and the last payment, we dragged for quite long then settle cos we wanted them to clear and touch up whatever defects that we found...
 
Geberra, me too... and i hate it loh... very sian de.. cant do anything to it.. and so sleepy.. hahaha irritating...

JP, the contractor kept insisting that we've got communication problem n the contract wasnt meant to be like this and that.. and he kept saying coz he already absorbed alot of things for us... (but we dont see any) so keep argueing over the phone coz he calls me now and then to tell me this cannot and that cannot.. abit fan loh!

Geberra, we only paid the deposit of 10%...
 
JP, my side no good food at all... poor me gotta travel elsewhere to makan good food... haiz...

i've been to chomp chomp... but duno what are the good food there... i know their sugar cane drinks very BIG mug type... just drink that mug will be damn full liao... hahaha...

last time during my hse reno, we came across 1 very "ya ya" contractor... he did the window grills for us... very bad attitude like old ah beng pattern... cannot stand him ah...
 
PM - They are like that one...i remembered during our reno, we ordered Italian toilet bowls. Then hor, the contractor said he will give us same material but made from Taiwan..thankfully my cousin bro was with us and he said NO! If promise Italian, deliver Italian. Cousin bro said they always like that....try to take advantage coz we often got deadline mah.
 
JP.. we as in both dh n me are quite green to this kind of things.. we wont know abt workmanship and market prices.. so we've got a feeling that we already gena chopped lioa..
 
Geb - last time before reno, chomp chomp food was solid. But after reno, quite a number of stall moved out and younger folks took over...so food only so-so. Sgoon Garden market got quite a number of good stalls
 
PM, its nice... very different from normal tau huey... dunno if its vanilla or maple syrup taste lah.. but really nice.. now I feel like having it loh... Am sleepy and at work.. sian...

PM - Pls ensure that you keep an eye on them. I remembered they gave us wrong tiles..they diam-diam. Thank goodness DH spotted it...it was a cheaper version. Yup, the hokkien stall is popular.

TFF - ic, ic. As long as your comfy with your obgyn, that's what counts!
 
Stephanie, okok next time must try.. that time when i came across that stall i was thinking if i shld try but scare it taste funni.. end up didnt...

i remembered we really make things difficult for the contractor cause they doesnt need our standard... just dont care, cos we dun wan to pay for things that they anyhow do... imagine it's a huge sum of renovation money that they earned from us... It's our hard-earned money leh...

if they said they will do this, we make sure they write it down black and white in the contract before we signed it....

PM, gotta be firm with them, ok...
 
Renovation Contractor ah. I think my Hubby very nice to them. OK for me not much problem.

Now i buy from the 2 ladies. One of the stall we also go is the "Mr Wok". The chilli crab is nicer than battery rd stall and the lady stall owner is very nice. We eat until they also know us.

There is another stall selling pumpkin kueh is also nice. I like to rojak but sometime got to Q very long n most of the time after work the stall already close.
 
PM, I think I only want to start my leave on 24th unless baby comes out earlier cause want to have more time at home with baby... So still got a long way to go.. super sian now..
 
GEberra, now the issue is we've agreed on somehting which is stated in the contract for that amt of price...but when we discussed abt the design it wasnt what we wanted. Ok.. its like shoe cabinet, we wanted to do the whole stretch of it.. but to him, he is just doing the 2 door kind. We never mentioned anything abt the 2 door in the very first place (i dunno where he go the impression) In the contract it just says to design and build blah blah blah, no measurements.. so very hard to argue. U know what i mean.. Now its like.. trying to solve this loh, coz i am not willingly to pay for that.. and he insist that there might be communication breakdown and whatever!

The Tau Huey got choice of pearls or etc one...
If I'm not wrong, its at the corner of one of the rows one... sorry am not of help..

Wah.. I v long never eat the Rochor one liao also.. Rem my aunt used to drive from my gran's place at Bukit Timah to go there and ta pao for everyone... Now that I've moved to Mcnair Road, theoratically is nearer to the rocher one but I never go buy.. .hahah

Hong - You lucky then..my contractor tried to cheat up - giving us look-alikes (cheaper version of the real thing). Thanks for the recommendations...wil check it out!

i just noticed 1 stall selling kueh... they sell ondeh ondeh too... is this the stall that sells pumpkin kueh?
 
JP, ya must protect ourselves, so every verbal message must be stated black and white in the contract... very important... duno why contractors always tends to cheat us... at least we youngster know how to argue back... wherelse older folks always kena cheated... felt cheated for them too...

hong, i know the rochor tau heuy... very nice but quite ex if you wanna tabao... so small serving...
 
Wow, today's topic is abt hawker center food is it? I like the Old Airport Road Hawker, lots of food to eat. Used to stay around there for a short while, every weekend can walk over to eat good food.

Like the Tiong Bahru mkt as well. Now newly renovated, much better ventilation.

On contractors, I heard a lot of my friends say cannot be si wen with them. Must really be like Phua Chu Kang type. For me, luckily my contractor are nice (cos my friend's sis & brother-in-law). Easier to cham siong. We shifted in for almost 2 yrs alr but can still call him up if need help.

what about Hong Kong cafe? called "si nai cha chang tin"... located at upper east coast rd... the toast bread very yummy... shiok!

you know, talking abt the tiles, i've a col who was cheated for this... she chose the tiles that she want but the contractors gave her another design and immediately "zhuang" to the floor.. by the time she found out, too late le... cannot take out cos it's like 80% done... poor thing... some more the contractor is one of our colleague... that contractor col didnt really helped her solved the problem... so bad loh, out to eat my the other col...
