Stephanie,
You can go to any pharmacy and get acidophilus for your child. This is suitable babies. Infact, I've a nurse friend who says this is good. My pead prescribed to my girl when she was abt 6 mths old. Now, at 4 yrs, i still use it. in fact, when I preggy, doc says i can take becoz we can't take diarr med. This is not a medication. It is the friendly bacteria that you find in yakult. It's concentration is much much higher than all the yakults and vitagen you can find and it helps the body to fight the bad bactiria in the intestine. The doc stresses that it doesn't stop the diarr immediately but it helps to kill the germs inside. They come in sachet form ,dont buy the tablet form as those are for adults. they come in a thin white box. The name is Lacteol fort(sachets) Quite costly but gd for your child. I think cost $9.00+ for 6 packs. The pead prescribe 2 packs a day, one in morning, one in evening. It will help the poor tummy to heal faster too. Watery diarr is ok as long not slimy with bubbles. If v slimy, that means got bacteria inside the tummy. v easy to take, it smells yummy like banana. taste is v mild. mix with say 4-5mls of slighty warm, stir to dissolve and drink. Don't use hot water as it will kill the good bacteria.hope this helps.
