YB - IMHO, if I find that Kay is happy there, do not pick up bad habits or bad language (this is very impt coz my cousin's kid picked up bad words in her K1 and my cousin changed school quick-quick), then 2 months is bearable. I am sure CD is responsible enough to ensure that their teachers are qualified coz they need to keep up their image.

I need to vent a bit hor...apologies. KKH wants G to go for speech therapy. Aiyoh, my boy can already string words together into sentences like 2-5 word noun-verb sentences. So, if we are going for this appt, it will be waste of $$$ again...haiz!!!

We are now planning to send G to a playgroup coz maybe peer pressure will encourage him to eat. What do you guys think?

no point bringin G for speech therapy cus he knows how to string words into sentences... think its a bit waste of time & money! If they can't find anyting wrong with G then most probably G is fussy about his food thats all, nothing to do with speech... hahaha think they make u worry for nothing!

Why the sudden need to go speech therapy? so strange....

Think it's worth a try. Peer pressure might help G. K is more motivated to do things on his own when he sees his friends doing it like take out his shoes. But not sure PG provides lunch? coz usu PG short session only.
 
ylc - That's how we feel too. I mean, the only problem we can see is that he is NOT eating solid food like most toddlers. He is improving though...ate 1/2 of the hotdog bun (w/out hotdog) in 1 sitting. We were beaming with joy.

Jul - Don't know...received a letter from KKH. So, DH will call KKH to question why. Already the specialist mentioned that G has reached his milestone for speech...headache, don't know what they are doing....haiz!!!

as long as he is improving thats gd enough! I think probably it will be a gd idea to put him though PG. THey usually will follow what their peers do! Guess, KKH just wanted to earn more $$ but didn't get their facts right or either that everything is link??

dunno abt other PGs, but from wat I know it's bring yr own one leh..

But for H's PG, the teachers got standby some biscuits, in case the parents forgot to pack or wat lor.
 
JP, y need speech therapy when he has problem eating and not talking??? charlene also not very good eater... G still good eat the bread, char is the other way round, eat the hotdog and not bread... more unhealthy...
 
JP - Oh no, why wanna do speech therapy only at this stage?

Last time wen my SIL's kids refuse to eat/drink, they already suggest to do speech therapy to check their jaw muscles etc but found nothing wrong. I mean if they want u to do speech therapy shld have done earlier of the checkup or during the last followup etc, and not now in the form of writing.... (some what like caught in a surprise)

How much have u spent in total? Haiz. As long as there's progress it shldnt be of concern I think.

It's worth a try at PG. Can relieve u some hrs too..

hmm dun envy u now..difficult decision. To me, it's kinda funny to decide on a sch when the teachers r not even there. Cos one of the impt criteria should be to observe how the immediate teacher speaks, interacts wif your kid. If new teacher comes only 2 mths later, u can only base on wat u see now? if u let K try out first for these 2 mths, it may mean that u might be reluctant to withdraw her even if the permanent teacher comes cos she's oredi settled down wif the sch. That's why i say i dun envy ur position. Do u hv any back up plan in mind? any other cc as 2nd choice?

eeyore - Ya lor...don't understand. Maybe its a routine thingy. At least C eats meat. G does not eat meat or veg at all.

PM - Ya lor...strange hor. PD already check and evaluated G on his speech and said that he has achieved his milestone. Some more, he can form short sentences...so, don't think speech a problem. We already spent more than thousand plus liao...very sian!
 
The other backup plan that I have is to send Kay back to playgroup lor. But based on these 2 days, Kay seems to like going to sch. She always says 'yes' when i ask her if she wanna go sch.

However playgroup is very disruptive cos they follow sch hols. So if she starts now, she'll only attend for the next 3.5mths then hols liao.

Then next time still need to search for a nursery.

same here. My MIL brot Janelle back on Sat and I have one to one time with Julian. Surprisingly he knows alot of things just that I dun have much time spending with him.

My neighbour grandchild attending the same kindy with Janelle and he is K1 this yr. She told me she never saw the grandson brot back any homework. The parents then sent the kids to many enrichment classes. It started to scare me.

oh yes. I booked my tour! With the help of a gd friends, the boss of the travel agent give a small discount and their services incl a personal touch so we signed up with them.
 
Hong - Ya, that's why DH wants to call KKH to ask more coz its would really be a waste of $$$ and we are not rich some more...haiz! On another note, wow!!! going for a trip...so shoik! Wish I can go too...with #2..a bit hard.

Talentplus has break time. The kids will makan their own snacks brought from hm. Fee is $135/mth + $75 half yearly material fee + $40 uniform fee.

YB, thanks. By the way, I read the thread on getting durian near ABC hawker centre and wanted to let mummies know that I also stayed in Redhill area. Therefore, if you are planning for play dates or gathering, I will be most willing to join. However, I am a FTWM.

YB - How comfortable are u with that arrangement? I rem when E just joined,the teacher left abt 1 mth later which E had already grown attached to her. I was very disturb by the fact, coz afraid E have to re adapt again. but nothing we can do @ that time, thankfully the new techer was v welcomed by the children. E's fav teacher is her now.

Caitz also has got to bring her own snacks when she starts sch next year. THey don't provide. However, I can opt if i want her to take her meals there (breakfast & lunch) but of course must pay extra $$ lah!

Want check with u ppl, are u buying any gift for teachers day? If yes, what will u be getting.

Also, E's sch having potluck for national day. They want us to bring healthy food. Already selected are Pastries, Fruit Salad and Sandwiches. What else can I bring?

I'm not really bothered by the teacher arrangements but felt that the supervisor shld have told me about the lack of teachers when I went to enquire in the 1st plc. She even dare to tell me both the teachers are qualified to teach. It's only until I qs her abt the lack of teachers & how the eng teacher seems to be very quiet & didn't interact much wif the children tat she told me the truth...sigh. Her attitude is like take it or leave it kind.

Anyway, Kay is still on 2wks trial. Will see how. Have to discuss wif hb when I see him next time.

Teacher's day - I baked some cookies for the teachers and put them in nice plastic container.
I havent start thinking abt the teachers pressie yet. Thanks for reminding, I have to start look ard now.

I'm intend to send Kaedi to school soon... I'm going to pop anytime this month, you gals think i should send her now or wait for the Jan 09 intake??

Hmm...if u send Kaedi to sch now, will she feels it's all bcos of the new bb's arrival? But with another bb coming, r u able to handle 2 kids alone? If u have additional help, then I think it's alright to wait till Jan 09 intake.

Our kids are all at the Pre-N level this yr. PG programmes are shorter like 1.5 to 2 hrs and CC are longer, abt 4 hrs for 1/2 day.

Think it may be better to send K next yr as she may fall sick quite bit when she starts, also you dun want her to feel like you are shoving her to school when your #2 arrives.
