wow...bbs these days r so lucky, all the BD cakes posted look so yummy & nice..Jasline, tin sometin missing on yr Big Bird head rite?? the bushy hair..guess got to do with the copyright issue again. keke..

Sending lost of recovery vibes to all bb that have fallen ill..mine not v well also since her BD party 2 wks ago..sigh..
 


Mummies, do u all wake BB up for medicine in the middle of the night? Doc says if he's sleeping we shl dlet him rest. But the fever is climbing higher if no medicine.... I tried to wake E up to drink and he cry n cry..

I usually wake mine for med if on running fever as the med effect is usually 3-4 hrs only..no choice but to feed them even if they cry ..cos without med, the fever will not be curbed..
 
Yah i use syringe. He was crying and I when i feed him he just puke all out. HAiz.

Do u think i shld bring him to hospital for blood test????? Scare dangue leh! I scare i go hospital they ask me to monitor first..
 
PM, yes... when the fever is still climbing. I will pull the kids up to take medicine. Infact Julian cant sleep well so more like he wakes me up.

if bb is crying, better dun force feed. sure puke. try to calm him or distract him first.

Dengue - huh? got any other indications beside fever?

Zita - aiyoh... now is gastric flu huh? give her more water, dilute her milk.
 
pm, jedd fever was 39.9 last nite. if high fever doc say guve nurofen or brufen.. i gave but didnt bring temp down. for jedd, he needs nurofen then 1hr later i give paracetamol. it brought temp down ... then i jus continue the paracetamol every 4hrs for next 24hrs.
jedd is super cranky.. refuses his porridge , barley water , water n milk. so basically theres nothing in his tummy.

last mth, jedd had some phelgmy cough.. every mornin for 4 days, after his milk feed, he will cough untill throw up all over the bed.. sigh!

fever shld last for abt 4-5days.. if longer then must go chk for dengue.. if a few days, it may be too early to tell.. i also asked the doc last nite abt jedd.. he say not dengue, not teething.. jedd is drooling sooo much.. his top 2 teeth cutting thru the gums.. i m pretty sure its teething..
 
oh dear......so many babies down....sayang sayang. Hope all recover quickly!

pm, must regularly give paracetamol every 4 hrs even when sleeping. else will shoot up.

So many bb sick ah... PD told me it's viral infection and the fever can be as high as 40 degree... can be quite bad especially at night..

Must keep giving them water. Try not to give them porridge (which I forgot to ask her why). Barley and very dilute milk. dun force them if they dun wan. so that's means... simply give in to their needs loh... Fever will last about 4-5 days...

Nite Time
This is the crucial part! Their temperature will rise... so high loh.. whole body very really very hot. keep sponging them... no fan just open windows... no air con too... Keep monitoring their temp. This virus quite serious ley... see them like that... damn heart pain...

Mummies help: nvr sponge C b4, what shld I do?? take off her clothes including diaper?? don't switch on the fan... fill up bucket with water, wet the towel then??

Wonder if u know tat my girl kenna HFMD from the infant care? Wao...lao....baby super cranky pass few days. Ulcers in her mouth, hands and leg.
Super sian loh......Doc say will take 1 week to recover.
I really want to pre-warn you about the infant care hygiene part. 2 days before Adam (the recent 1st case) down with HFMD. I saw 1 of the teachers after using the thermometer on Adam, never sterilize and straight away use it on my girl. Than when Adam was down with HFMD, 2 days later my girl kenna. It's really due to the teacher's laziness and careless that why the disease was being pass to my girl.
I was so angry with the school that I call and demand the Principles to give me an explanation. All she could do was keep saying sorry..Who needs a sorry.
How could they not sterilize the thermometer and straight away use it on another baby.
Even if its not HFMD its not right to do that.

place the towel on forehead, temples, underarms, neck and hips. these are the "hot zones". I used ice water on K the last time to bring down the temp faster...if C can take then you may want to try too.

u can feed ur ger some porriage water. It helps to cool the body down.

Ep, no porriage when they have fever. My mum says it will make the fever linger longer.
 
Wow y suddenly so many down wif flu & fever..so charm leh!

PM must wake him up to take medi..better bring A&E leh, take blood & urine test. I rush down A & E midnight when V fever hit 39.7 on fri leh

Venice we feed her bufen & paracetamol every alternate 2 hrs then can bring down her fever, only 4th day (yesterday) started to subside but got stomach flu & rashes on her forehead due to the cool pad

Poor gal at 1st reject medibut yesterday she open her mouth once she saw the medimaybe she noe that even she struggle also no use.

when we ask her u wan to take medi , c doc & draw blood she keep shaking head & cryseem like she understand.yesterday after she wake up from nap she take the thermometer & put at her earI c liao so heatpain.

So vomit out d phelgm is good then, cant really tell if she passed out from her poo. Will be bringing her to PD later, hope to be able to find out if she is just getting d common cold n cough or if she has sensitive airway so dats y more prone to all these.
 
Ocdont be discourage ya, my colleague told me after child after 1 to 5year sold is pro to sickness that because the antibodies that we provide for them no moreso they have to fight their own. The common cold will help them build up their immunity.

Today back to office.another 2 of my colleague daughter also high feverscarey virus.

phelgm is better to vomit out if not will block their breathing passage way.

I may consider giving Gillian calpol tonight to ease her teething pain, n then i have to give her medication for her cold n cough as well...so many things to give her...argh!!!

Hope Jedd will get well soon for his party, Gillian is also cutting her 2 upper front teeth, but thankfully no fever, just cranky as well n rejecting solids.

Hello mummies,

Came back from GlenE at abt 5pm. Pretty fast. No waiting (me and hubby super majan with waiting). Saw Dr Lam, and she suggest we shld go for blood test to rule out dengue and other infection... but hv to wait for results tmr and she will call me to tell me abt it. Meanwhile she gave E the anal thingy and fever subsided within half an hour. At 5plus i received her call to tell me abt the preliminary results. Cant hear her well, but she asked me to stop the antibiotics that is mking E puke as its not a viral infection. Puking will not help E at all since he's quite dehydrated from not eating n drinking. Puking make him lose more water.

Emerson was active in the clinic and because he's so active.. The lab ppl have to strap him up liek some mad ppl.Haha. Then he struggled even more. Wah! heartache at the amt of blood drawn from him.. and his cries make my heart feel so sour too.

Zita - Yah, i think most ppl will think i'm quite funny, why dont rush to KKH immediately...but i just dunno loh, KKH will be the last place i'll go. Coz if go there, wait and wait and wait.. and I dont trust the MOs at all.
Take Q no to register --> See MO (not even PD) ---> take blood test ---> wait for results ---> results out but wait to see MO again ---> Dispensary to take medicine/ or to admit...and KKH super Kiasee... they sure will admit E if they cant find any reasons why so high fever..they will say admit to observe...
 
Pm eeh is quite true! My mum joker leh, 1st moment she saw the doc at A&E, she say so loud..."ha? y nurse treating patient?" ...oops i so paiseh

but i really dont noe where to go liao if the PD clinic is closed lo: ( eeh i went midnite, waiting time ok lah 30min to c doc, 1hrs to wait for test & review, medi no queue...so alright la..
 
Hahahaha Zita, yr mum really funny loh! Hope the nurse cant understand mandarin, coz mostly fillipinos right?

Maybe that hr, that day happen to be not so crowded.. The very first time I went was on a Sunday night.. super duper long. I remembered. I went there at 10pm... reached home at2am.
 
how u noe the doctor is filipino?..that y my mum though she is a nurse!

I tink i reach there 12am ,home at 2.30am...if is earlier will bring her PD liao...cause A & E also veri expensive!

Btw how much u pay for consult & blood test at PD har?
 
Zita, hahaha.. i think i go KK very often. Last time always bring E's cousin there.. wait until my neck super long. Haha.

the medicine i took- paracetamol and the anal thingy $65
Blood test- Dengue $40
full blood count test $15 plus GST $58.85
 
last time, i also went A*E at midnite... zav fever was 39.5. i also dun trust KKH... so I choose to go Mt A.

also no q... and hv a doc on duty.

best is they dun consider it as A&E... but 24hrs clinic. so charges only 30+ :p
 
Zita, i remembered why i need to wait so long. The Mo that is suppose to review the bloodcount test... had to attend to an emergency case. He need to go & "received" one patient from the ambulance and treat him... haha I remembered I was making a big scene there.

So how's E now? Wat's the cause for his fever?

Just now went to Eye Specialist...same thing. Eye infection due to long wearing of contact lenses. Haa..haa..Luckily nothing serious. Have to lay off lenses for aat least 2wks.

Then just now my doc called me to say my T3 & T4 very high. Tat means my hyperthyroid is back..sigh...gotta take meds for another 12mths liao. No wonder I was so hungry today. Need to eat every 2hrs, otherwise really starving till I broke out in cold sweat.

Hope E is better. Dr Lam quite detailed one....so shld be ok. Last time I also went to TMC 24hr clinic at 2am....when K's fever was 39.1. No Q. Immediately can see doc, but it's a GP lah...he advise to see PD in the morning.

For the cooling pillow hor...you might want to put a towel over it before E lays on it....a few weeks back I bought cheapo one from japan home, it leaked...

PM - haha. ur opinion about KKH is same as mine n hubby's. we rather go down to NUH from pasir ris than to go to KKH. cos i know got paeds a&e there, n somehow feel more comfortable going there. that time also no Q at nite n straightaway attended to us.

MTDT - will note about mt. a , *touch wood* if need to go for nite time emergencies.

zita - glad to hear venice's fever has gone down. so has kristen's fever n i think she's 99% recovered by now. not on anymore medications n no more cold/cough, just a little bit of phelgm, but otherwise is fine n happy child again

sponging - i forgot to ask why, but the doc at NUH said they don't do sponging anymore. hmm. dunno why leh. said just put cool/lukewarm (not cold) towel on the forehead.

PM - if need to feed the medicine, maybe can try mixing it with his milk? juz dun make so much milk to ensure that he drinks it all up. erm. dunno if can do that, ask d doc. that's what we did with K.. but i dun see anything wrong bah... so long as all is consumed.
 
i tink they no longer practice sponging with cold water. but just room temp water will do.

actually the last round when zav had high fever, i also never sponge him. rather he have a good nite sleep then disturb his sleep with sponging. also never wake him up for medi.

to me.... sleeping is the best way to recover. ample rest will ensure body hv time/strength to auto recover

but of cos, keep measuring his temp n monitor him. so he sleeps thru, whereas mummy on nite duty.
 
Hope all bbs who recently fallen ill will recover ASAP.

Peach - was told not to mix medicine into milk as for bbs who dislike the taste of medicine, they may end up rejecting the milk when they recover thinking that there is medicine in the milk.

Yest ashley knock her face against a socket and there is a big blue black on her face...mummies, any idea if i shuld rub the blue black for it to recover?

yup... preferred not to mix medicine into milk for fear that they'll reject milk after that.

mezzo... can gently rub the blue black so that it'll heal. or traditional way of using hard boil egg to rub the blue black may help too.

mummies... pneumococcal, anyone can advise? do you all give babies 'pao shen' to drink b4 the jab?

think you should use warm towel to gently massage the bruised area to disperse the blood clotting. But not too hard hor.
