SL, you preg?? congrats if so!! :D

SSF, it's really nice of your mum to take care of the boys for you. Not many grandparents are so willing these days. Hopefully all works out well for u!!

thanks rachel and mashy for the recipes!

Mashy,
i usually warm up the milk first then bring out. if i'm going out for longer hours, I'll pump out the milk just before leaving home and store in the milk bottle. then put into the insulated milk bottle bag. since freshly pumped milk can be left in room temp for quite a number of hours, i don't bother to warm up. just let bb drink room temp milk. unless i'm in a restaurant where i can ask for hot water to warm up. i have tried keeping milk in room temp for up to 12hrs and it's still ok to be consumed.

queen,
yes i bring edgar for dental checkups. i go Smileworks @ paragon, Dr Bernice. she's very good with kids. got toys and all that.

queen,
the last time i brought damien to my hb's dentist..but not a very good experience. I am still looking for a good dentist for him. Damien already got 2 fillings done.

Hi Queen

My gals goes to Q&M sometimes at Hougang, sometimes at Kallang, depends where Dr. Sharon is. She is good with kids.

My gals has been visiting dentist so frequently that they are very familiar with the equipments etc. Ashley can even stand and tell the dentist what's next when she watch Megan doing her teeth.

Megan is also familiar with terms like plaque etc when i brush her teeth. Realise it is very difficult to brush well so now i uses floss that comes with sharp end like a tooth pick to scrap the plaque......

Hi mummies,

Nope not expecting any. My sis is though. I think one Charmaine is enough for me lah. Actually I am not a motherly person to begin with....

SY,
Can sms me yours?

mashy,
Can bf her? I nurse charmaine a lot even when we are out, it's just too troublesome to bring all the barang barang out... I just use a normal shawl - you know those 3 for $10 kind? It's good enough to cover. Plus light and can be kept int he bag easily.

Hi mummies!

I'm back from San Francisco! But got really sick on the way back...had a raw throat and fever on the plane ride back.

My hb and I had a great time together...we did lotsa shopping and even bought a samsonite luggage from the outlet mall at a discounted price. I had a fun time exploring downtown San Francisco while hb was away at meetings.

Really shopped to my heart's content!

How much is a tub of california calendula cream? My gal got eczema.
sad.gif
WAnna have a yardstick when buying on the forum. Thanks!

welcome home Mamachan! Envy envy, i wanna shop too!!!!

sl
can, just that she takes up too long for now. Even if use shawl, i still need to sit down and 'idle'.

calendular cream
Cali bb's calendular cream is abt $17-$18 now. You can check out here for a price check. I usually buy from her nowadays cuz its such a hassle organising sprees and getting pple to join in the sprees, not to mention boxes looking ugly on the floor waiting for pple to collect their stuff.

Queen,
I bring E to GPA Dental @ United Sq. They have a dental room just for kids with TV to occupy them while the dentist fix their teeth. Prices abit higher than the usual dentists outside but can use CDA account to pay.

Yuki,
Sama sama. E already has had so many filings done. Praying hard that didi doesn't follow his footsteps. Did u try using electric toothbrush? I find it easier to reach to the back row. Maybe I should try bring E to Q&M since Sharon comes to Hougang branch. One of his old filings came off & my dentist couldn't coax E to stop fidgeting. If Sharon can fix his teeth, then I don't need to go GPA.

hi ladies
anyone let your kids take school bus? if it's pte school bus i.e. not belong to the school, how do you make sure that your kid is in good hand?

these 2 days i let my gal try out the school bus. the bus driver is really untrustworthy. Initially, we agreed that the bus driver will pick up my mil to fetch my gal together 'cos the driver doesn't have bus attendant at that timing. the today, the 2nd day, she told me she does have a bus attendant (we didn't not see any when we went along together), and will not pick up my mil anymore. After talking and she agreed to pick up my mil. But, she didn't appear at the agreed time. and after about 15 min, the bus arrived at the meeting spot with my gal in the bus.
When my mil told me about this, I was really upset. Luckily, my gal is back safe and sound though with tears on her face...
I guess i will never dare to let my kids to take the school bus again at this young age unless it's the school owned bus.
I should have told the centre that if they did not see my mil, don't release my gal to the bus driver...

mamachan
you must have bought LOTS of stuff! do share the photos you took during the trip, i guess more photos for you to scrap on!! *wink*

hope that you are all well now =)

BP
speedy recovery to you n your family!

sunny
you mean it's a one way bus ride from cc to home? it sure is very untrustworthy of the driver not turning up at the agreed time and end up went to pick up your gal instead... your mil must be worried sick while waiting for the bus.

mine is pte school bus too but the boss and bus drivers are all really reliable, including the bus aunty. i did talked personally with the boss and driver before and observed how they handle the kids when they picked them up from school. all very friendly and attentive.

there was even once i needed a favour from the bus driver to pick up some books I ordered through the school. cos the teacher wanted to passed the books to the bus aunty as they were too heavy for dylan to carry but the bus left. the bus driver agree and made the extra effort to pick them up when he dropped off the kids of the afternoon classes and made a detour to pass the books to me.

rachel
ya, it's one way back from cc to home.
the bus driver got pick up kids at yew tee area?
can pm me the number?

Hi Sunny,
Have you spoken to the school about your concerns? Even if the school does not own the school bus, the school have made its selection and should help to liase. However, I did hear that some schools have few # of kids taking schoolbus that they do not really have a choice on the schoolbus. I feel that your MIL should not be doing this ... from the driver point of view, there's traffic considerations and timing considerations and for her to make a trip to your MIL's place and to school and back ... hm, it does not make logic nor profitability sense. My guess is she's being pushed to say yes but so what if she doesn't commit to the agreement.

K just started school last week on 2-days-a-week and though it's an old n rattling school bus, they have seat belts and I'm really appreciative that the bus driver would check with me to confirm which days he needs to come by. And after sitting on the schoolbus one time, I wouldn't take it with K. It makes a bad habit that eventually the kid would not want to get on the school bus should the relative is not on.
And on non school-kids hopping onto the school bus, I did take the big school bus before with K when I dropped my older son off at school in the morning ... I had to quietly sneaked up the bus ... if this be known, the parents might not be pleased.

So, to me, choosing a school also involved choosing a reliable school bus. Talk to the school n it might help if you can provide contacts for them to change to if this one is that unreliable.

.ky.

hi ky
when I talked to the bus driver if she can take my gal, she sounded ok and sounded like she's willing to negotiate the bus fare even. and the school has another 2 more contacts but both bus drivers can't take my gal at that timing.
rachel gv me the contact of her bus driver, hopefully he's able to take my gal. else, i think she really needs to switch to full day...

ya, i have told the principal on what was happened this morning for her to take note in case any parents experienced the same thing like me.

Hi Sunny

I agreed with KY.

In addition, i thot by law, all school bus driving the preschoolers - the bus MUST come with seat belts and also a bus aunty. Cos some preschoolers may not be able to fasten seat belt on their own......Can't be the driver who fasten for them.......

That was my understanding.

Both my gals take school bus thru contacts given by the school. Elder one starts from 3 years old and younger one at 2.5 years old.

Once my mum notice one particular driver drove very fast and sometimes rush to beat the red light. Even the bus aunt secretly told us that. Many parents feedback to both the boss and the school principal. The driver was eventually remove.

We do have a say who to drive our kids....... you may wish to check with the school again.

When you say the timing that you want - is it that you don't your gal to spend too much time on the bus? My gals' ride is about 35-40 mins........

yuki
actually the bus journey is about 5 minutes from the centre to my mil's place. 'cos her nap time is at around 2pm, i need the bus driver to drive her back at 12pm+, then she can rest and take shower, then nap together with didi.

sunny

i also agree wif the rest that it is diff to expect the driver to make an additional stop to get you mil. It's extra cost to them. Perhaps u wanna pay more?

i guess sunny's concern is the bus not having a bus aunty when her gal is on board, tats why she get her mil to stand in and make sure all is well with her lil one while the bus driver has his eye on the road. there are many factors that sunny require for help from the driver and from my point of view if the driver has agree on certain matters, he/she has to stick to it and not go MIA and appear only after 15mins without a call. the bus driver is free to voice out and state his/her ground, and if the extra trip can be settle with a little top-up, its understandable and resonable too.

sunny
hope that you can work out a solution with the school and bus driver soon. =)

rachel
thanks.

mashy
thanks for the link. i have given my feedback to the school already. i told them to take extra care when giving out the contacts to the parents... already discontinue the service with that unreliable bus driver liao... scary experience...

sunny
dunno whether i shared before but i had a hard time with jh's sch bus last time. at that time jh was going to be 2 and i put him on the sch bus with the sch. but the uncle was so terrible that we pulled him off the bus and i searched for one myself. called the nearby sch to get all the bus uncle number and managed to find one that can pick him. anyway in the end the sch also discontinued the service with the lousy one.

maybe u can call the nearby sch to get bus uncle contact. hope u find a good one soon. think it's really impt. jh really likes his bus auntie

Re: sling
Just managed to do the lying down position with the MIM sling today. Yippee!!! Yesterday also bf her in the sling on the cradle position. Will have to practise more so that it isn't such a pain to go out. My gal loves the sling. SO diff from her kor kor. Kor kor cried and cried when i tried to put him in the sling the 1st few times and prefered the stroller. This gal hated the stroller and prefers the sling. Today's outing has been a breeze coz of the sling.

mashy
wow...both your babies are different eh? I love the MIM sling too when I had D. But pity I've never mastered bf him while he is in the sling and always had to look for a Nursing room just to BF him...he doesn't like anything to cover his face while BF
sad.gif
will try it when I have chance for #2 again...

Damien was admitted to hospital last week due to the stomach flu..kept vomiting..dehydration...heartache.
He is so skinny now. Not eating much.

mashy
I used the MIM sling as well wif Ariene but I prefered the stroller cuz I tend to get backaches after slinging Ariene for more than 1hr

BP
Oh no...how is Damien now? Must be really heartbreaking to see him in hospital. Was he placed on drips?

Old Navy Spree
Anyone in this thread here organizing ON spree? Am thinking of getting some one piece body-suit PJs for my boy. I didn't get enough of that when I was in SF 2 weeks back. Now kinda regret.

mashy
Have u tried letting her hug a comfort item while on stroller. For A, I usually let her hug her bolster or her carebear grumpy. Usually they cry cuz they feel insecure.

Jshoppers
I'm thinking of getting some swaddling clothes for girl #2 and socks for A as there is free shipping for orders of 12,000 yen and above now. Anyone interested in Jshoppers spree?

Thanks..Damien already discharged. He was on dripped...funny thing was that he told me that was power water...OMG.
This boy just 3.5yrs old and already admitted to hospital 3Xs..
