Morning ladies..
Thanks lib, applejuz and ixwong. It took me about 20 - 30 mins to express out 100 ml of ebm. What I did was to pump till like no more milk, then rest for about 5 mins and start pumping again.
Hi mrstan, vaginal swap is just like papsmear, not painful at all. As for cervix check, depends on individual's threshold of pain. hehe..
My gal's body is very warm to touch and last 2 days her forehead is cold cold. CL says she could be hving tummyache tt's y the forehead is cold, but no diarhhoa or anything. Tested her temp and showed ok leh. And she cant really sleep well especially in hot humid weather. If cool, she can sleep few hrs in a stretch. And these few days, she will sleep a while then cry. Carry her to sleep, she will sleep so soundly and once when we put her down on the cot, a while later, she will cry again.. aiyo.. anyone's bb lidat?

hi anissa, i might have missed your earlier posting, but what the jaundice level? mine is a g6pd deficient baby who was supposed to be high risk during the first week, and he did a blood test every 2 days until end of first week. PD only charged us consultation once, n subsequently he only needs to know the jaundice level so no more consultation...

so if u cannot tahan the cervix check, better ask for pain relief during labour.. btw, were u from the Dec 03 brides thread last time? under "Padme" i think?

miso, mine also gave us headache last night. refused to be laid down n kept crying.. when being carried fell asleep instead! pengz.. lasted for about 2 hrs then fed him n he slept in cot for 4 hrs... that was the longest crying bout we experienced. my boi's body also v hot when first lifted from cot, like charcoal hot kind n body flushed... but temp normal.
we bought a sarong for him n tried out today... hopefully he can sleep better in it. He always wakes up when sleeping face up in cot, and face down we scared of SIDS. Hope the sarong is our solution...

my CL said it is like that..cos they want us to carry them. which is quite true.. once u carrying them, they silent and look around.. i guess they just wnat to be part of the family instead of stuck there lying down facing the ceiling. i think i will get those nylon bb bouncinette so that i can put him on the floor and he can see what we are doing. but CL said that can only be used up to 3mths before they learn how to turn

Does any one know where i can buy desitin creamy (blue packaging) for baby rashes? gaurdian only sells the white one, say must go clinic/polyclinic to get the blue one?
Anyone started their malay massage yet? Seen any effect yet? Me had two sessions already..wah, the tummy binder ma chiam like wearing corset like that! so uncomfortable!

ting ting, sarong as Yao Lan? we also tot of putting her to sleep in tt leh. cos when we carry her and swing, she sleeps.. I just succesfully carried her to sleep and put her on her side to sleep on the cot.. hopefully she can sleep for few hrs. Else the constant crying, I scared she not enaf sleep leh.

hi cakey.. sorry but seems like it's cheaper if u get ur diapers from those chinese medicinal hall.
miso, yup. my boy doesn't like to sleep on sideways too. cannot last more than 5 min.. on back, maybe 1 hr if he's really sleepy. if lying face down, can sleep for 3-4 hrs... am now trying the sarong for the 1st day.. hopefully get good results..
till now, we almost always put him face down... he can turn his head left to right already..
i'm also getting the bouncinette, so that he can look around when he's awake. think they come with an harness so that bb can be secured. but if he's v active then difficult to hold him...

Hi Anissa,
It's gd to consider polyclinic for checking your bb's jaundice. My little one also have mild jaundice. During the first week, I have to bring her to polyclinic almost everyday for the blood checkup which I paid around $10.40 including the blood test & the consultation fees for each visit. Now she's discharged & I dun have to bring her out everyday. What you can do is giving her morn sun tan, phototherapy at home by turning on the white light & letting some sunlights into the room (not direct).
As for your parents & in-laws problems, I guess everyone will encounter this kind of situation. Dun worry too much, their angers will go as time goes by. Most imp is your bb's jaundice level goes down. Take one step at a time.

Personally I like MP than pampers. It's soft & super absorbency! I only need 1 piece for the nite!

and when i was gonna treat the whole thing as a coincidence, it happened again last night when i was chatting with a visitor, ie wind hit my back and i got backache in under 5 min! argh!!
also, read earlier that some of u are looking for nipple cream... maybe u can try palmer's? it worked really well on me! smells yummy too cos of the cocoa butter!

i've tried the philips lowest range model, about $90+ one... borrowed from a fren to test out but the transmission was intermittent... however the fren who lent it to us didn't have probs with it... mebbe my walls thicker? but my fren stay sengkang hdb, same as me...

Hi miso & ting ting, mine also started cranky since last sat. when carried him, his body also very warm but when tested temp show ok too...He refused to laid down sleep in his cot but when carried him he fall aleep....have to keep repeat. wow.. seems like a no. of us are facing the same probs! I am still hesitating to bring out the sarong, will give my gal few more days and see how, let's just hope it's a passing phrase.

From what I know, if u bring ur bb to a government clinic like polyclinic or KK hospital, they will normally want to draw out some blood to test. For PD, they dun. The other time I brot my gal to Dr. Keoy, one look and he says her jaundice level is arnd 11 - 12, should be ok with sunning and if jaundice still arnd after 4 - 5 days then bring bk to see him again. No blood testing is needed.
My cl bought some herbs from the chinese medicinal hall to bathe my gal with it and few days ltr, she's ok. U all might wish to do tt.

now i'm thinking of getting the psc467 which is going for $189... this one has a longer range and a "Green light indication on Parent unit for reliable connection link and flashes red and gives an audible alarm if Parent unit is outside the range of Baby unit"... this should solve the problem of intermittent transmission, i hope!
do lemme know if you bio anything better... i also know only of the philips... except for the one angel got, i think it's the angelcare but i understand from her that the range is much shorter...

for those of u with bbs with jaundice, u may wanna try this method my confinement lady swears by... she bathed my jeremy in 1/2 can of abc stout, mixed with normal warm water! and his jaundice did go away after 2 days (= 1 can used)! but i dunno if it's cos his liver started functioning as it was supposed to or if it's due to the stout! but no harm trying i guess - there doesn't seem to be any ill effects on his skin!

My baby's jaundice level is now at 184. Not too bad ... But my area here not much sun
haven't successfully sun tan him for the past few days. The doc said sunlight not that impt. Just give lots of water ... Can't help but to worry ...

My bb's given PD is also Dr Koey. He also just inspect visually and say ard 11. But later brought to Poly clinic (for some cardio referal letter) and Dr suggest blood test few days later. But it's so inconvenient for us cos I still got c-sect wound and no car. Diff to get cab too if peak early time.

My CL and malay masseuse both also mentioned it, but me and hubby not sure whether to believe or not leh..does it really work? will it turn the baby's skin more yellow, since the water is kinda yellowish? they also say put some of the herb in an ang pow packet and put under the baby's pillow?

Yes mummytobe, it's kinda dried red flower not yellow. My cl smashed it and pour hot boiling water over it (suppose to boil it but no more pots) and the water is yellowish. Few days later, my gal is cleared of jaundice. Also put some in an ang bao and put in bb cot.

last night my boy doesn't want to sleep in sarong, same problem happened again, fussed for 2 over hours. i really wonder why... haiz... i think he takes to the sarong only during day time leh, at night he still sleeps face down in cot.. after his crying...

tingting, sorry 4 the mix-up. Re your bb fussiness. Could he be feeling uncomfortable? Mine was like that few days ago when his umbilcal cord dropped off. According to MIL, there will be some pain, so we wrapped him tummy, applied ru yi oil and gave him gripe water. After that, he starts to sleep well again...

Ya, completed my massage. It was great cos my tummy really went from 5-6 mth pregnant to a larger pre-pregnancy size. My water retention went away and I have lost abt 10 kg so far. Got 4-5 kg more to go. I had upper backache all along and rohaya was helping me relieve the tenseness. She also helped me clear my milk ducts and since then milk supply has increased and no more engorgement! Even my hubby said it's money well spent! You need to check w her on the timing. For me, she came back every afternoon around 1.30pm.

Would like to check if anyone of you your baby seems to have lots of phlegm? I was told need to bring to doc to 'suck' it out using it tube. Really regret eating so much bird nest soup and orange juice during pregnancy but my in-law made them ... dun drink also paisey ... It sounds so painful. Any idea if there is an alternative??

i gave birth via C-section after epidural. Saw from previous days posting that u wanted to know. Why ah? Sorri i a bit delayed... *zombified*

How was Dr Lin? Isaac didn't hv any fever after Hep injection. Sorry ah, info came a bit too late. Didn't log in few days. Isaac's 1 month weight is 4.35kg, supposed to be abt 4.8kg. Dr says he's underweight, but hubby & i feel that he's sooo heavy... quite hard to manouver him when i'm switching from left to right breast, during burping etc.
re: fussing, try feeding your boy more milk. When isaac fusses & refuses to sleep, (even imme after a feed), 1 of the likely reasons is that he didn't hv enuf.
So what happens to me is:
feed baby >> baby seems to hv enuf & rejects breast >> burp baby >> offer other breast >> baby feeds or rejects >> burp >> rock to sleep >> if still dun sleep, apply ru yi oil, maybe stomachache? Or wet diaper? Change lah. >> if still cannot pacify him, offer breast. >> if no more milk from breast, use EBM.
Give him FULL FULL & he'll sleep easy.
In the evenings Isaac also likes to nurse himself to sleep, ie i'm his pacifier.

do u have motherhood magazine? it tells u how to collect it if u didn't get it at the hospital.

I am oso looking at the Philips PSC484. Baby kingdom quoted me the same price with 15% discount. Somemore got sample to try out, so after my confinement will pop by to play around. Will keep u update when I got it.

It's great to hear that your bb's jaundice level went down. At least it shows that his liver is working fine. Well, the polyclinic is so much different from last time rite? And best of all, they give the newborn first priority to see the Dr but only when he's less than 28days. After tat, u have to join the normal Q.
