MMR and chickenpox jab,

my boy had his MMR and chickenpox jab on monday. he had mild fever for 4 days. here the MMR and chickenpox jab is combine so have to let him have both.

walking,

the paed checked my boy and said that he should be walking soon. the paed hold my boy under the arms with feet on the floor facing me and he "ran"over to me. so the paed say that it is not a problem. some boys walk at 18mths though very rare here

Seems like most of the kids will get fewer after the MMR jab, a bit worried leh! cos Wilfred MMR appt will be on 08/04/06.

Walking
Since the pd said your boy should be walking soon, u dont need so worried liao.

Dun really have time to login... Elicia yesterday evening vomit! Till now abt 5times, she hardly can sleep or eat so do I. My HB also sick so I got to look after 2 ( or 3) people, very tiring. Somemore since last week my ezcema condition very worst, very itch and got spread to other body when I get hot. Ayio, hope this hot wheather can go away soon!!

eve au, try giving wilfred pao shen water to drink the night and morning before the jab. shermyn took it and she was all right after her mmr &amp; chicken pox jabs 2 saturdays ago- no fever.

My First Stunt
shermyn exhibited her first stunt yesterday. we have a bed set with an upper bed &amp; another pull out lower bed. she was standing at the edge of the upper bed wanting to jump onto the lower bed. i shouted at her loudly "NO NO" indicating to her that she should not jump.

Then .... she just looked at me with a mischevious look on her face and dive head down, doing a half somersault with head tuck in. her head hit the lower bed first and she PLONKED flat on the lower bed !!! I was stunned for a few seconds. she looked at me with her eyes wide open (i think she was a bit shocked herself) and then giggle !! wah...I nearly had a heart attack !! SOOOO DANGEROUS and to think that she is so garang to do it !!! I must watch her extra closely from now. Soooo scary !!!

the doctor did not detect. My MIL detected it by chance. I went to find out information abt it on the net, and seems that if the child is eating well, active, sleeping well, there is nothing to worry. Also during toddler years, this thing is more obvious to us. I guess maybe due to his teething at the side lor.


if see doctor, maybe.... he give anti biotics?

potato wants to learn also cannot cos shes not as nimble n agile as shermyn.. she can only roll from one place to the next..

cloth diapers:
hehe.. i am supporter of it.. rae on cloth diaper since day 2 when we came back from hospital. shes fully on cloth except her nite sleep and gaigai.
though they say just change the inserts n not the diaper. but i will change all together.
rae changes her cloth diaper at least once every 2hrs. so alot of washing!
read that cloth diapers is good for toilet-training.
Rae on bumwear and fuzzibunz. Bumwear doesnt last (the stitching and the pee retention) but they are soooo pretty n free sizing.
personally, 2thumbs up for fuzzibunz. bumwear wins on the sizing n pretty colors n designs.

if you want to get bumwear, dun get the batik designs, cotton ..

just my 2cents.

tats just my opinion n experience.
i heard good review abt it tats why i bot several last year but it was disappointing!sometimes it even leak n rae woke up from naps with damp clothes! maybe the cutting doesnt suit potato! i have 2 bumwears whereby some stitching has come undone! even my domestic help prefers fuzzi bunz. but some mums swear by it but there r just as many who were utterly disappointed. but i cant resist the pretty colors and patterns.

I got declan a romper, many mths back. and lately he wore it, 2 times. MY empress commented tat the romper was too big for him, therefore din let him wear, and when i wore for him the 2nd time, she commented the same thing. com'on, he already wore before lah!

and u know what comment she told my boy? she say "wah u look so "sum - seng" .. i think like gangster or ah beng looking. damn!!!!!

I dun have a cane at home cos i see no nid. but she's been threatening my son tat. "daddy will cane u. granny will cane u"
i told them tat day if there is a cane at home, i am going to throw it downstairs!!!

Toothbrush
remember when declan was young, i bought a set of toothbrush? I did not show the empress dow. and at time she say bb too young ... cannot use the normal type of brushy brush to clean his teeth as it will hurt him. Then one weke ago, she saw declan with his 1st toothbrush - the rubbery kind. she commented "this one how to brush - translate in chinese (si shen mo guai <wash what ghost> .

then i told her that this is for gum brushing.

wah lau. white she also say, black she also say. she win liao.

regarding the swollen lymph node - no need to bring declan to see doc if he is eating / sleeping well.

sometimes lymph nodes will swell up as an indication of an impending illness. could be anything ranging from no sickness, to fever, etc.

many years ago, i was fiddling ard and found that my lymph nodes were swollen HUGE.
didn't do anything about it since i was fine.
the following week, i had chicken pox!

not that declan is going to have chicken pox ...
if you bring him to see doc now, there's nothing they can do. cannot prescribe anti-biotics since declan has no apparent illnesses....

all vaccines not foolproof. just that if they get chickenpox later, it would not be so serious. my teacher was warded for chickenpox becos of high fever. he had chickenpox when he was quite old.

Sharing(home remedy):
Few weeks ago, rae broke out in 'rashes' suddenly in the middle of the night! The terrible itch frustrated her.
(the chinese call it 'feng(1) mo(4)'.
i think the ang-mo name is 'Hives' or can someone enlightened me?)
of course i panicked but my mum was the epitome of calm.....
She used cotton wool dipped in warm rice wine and dabbed over the 'rashes'. It went away almost immediately! WOW!!
If not for the home remedy, i think rae n i would have suffered till morning when i bring her to pd. as i am rather clueless in such things. the most i am capable of doing will be to apply calamine lotion which might not be as effective.
read somewhere that some had to take antihistamine for 'hives'. so was glad that raes rashes went away via natural remedy and dont need any oral medicine.

Any other mummies have any other home au-natural remedies to share?
I think such knowledge is very useful (esp to clueless me).

Anyone can teach me how to cook porridge in slow cooker? Eg: how much rice for one meal? How long does it cook? how much water to put? when to put the pork, veg or fish?

haizz... my mil takes a break on sat and sun, so declan had been going without proper food for many months, and i cannot take it anymore. i have to cook for him. yet i dun want to ask my empress at home how to cook. haha

Pillows
We got one for declan but after sleeping an hour on it, and due to changing in position during his sleep, somehow he ended up discarding the pillow.

Home remedy
I guess i ever shared. that was putting sugar into mouth to stop bleeding if our kiddo happen to bite their own lips. very effective as bleeding stop immediately
