Hi moshimoshi,
Now that u mentioned yet. Yes, I have just done a backup of my blog on Wordpress. Still searching around for a better solution.

Hi kristins_mom,
Just realised that wordpress only allows embedded videos from certain websties. What u can do, is convert to New blogger and do an import to Wordpress.

Hi Sarah,
Which reminds me, can you share which digital scraping program you are using? I'm thinking of doing one for the kids' craft work and project too. Can grant access to your SB too? Thanks!

sarah/serenade, how does digital scrapbooking work? what does it do? can provide link?

ky
were u the one who got the scholastic book order form from sch? i got 1 today, am thinking of getting some 'universal' books on occupations, math n poems, did u get any? i find the prices reasonable, all below $10!

sarah
mel only eats ladies fingers cooked by grandma, she can finish abt 3 pieces, actually i like them too. u remind me, next time i should get some for veg printing, did potato prints b4, but not good with knives to carve desired shapes

Hi moshimoshi,
The stories sound interesting! Think Brandon will be thrilled to read such books. Is Mel doing Ladybird 5A? Wow, she's advanced!

For Brandon, he's doing I Can Series 4 and Step into Reading Step 4. Slowly gearing towards the next level now.

What I like abt the 2 series, they offer different types of storylines. Step into Reading offers history, factual, etc reading experience. Thinking of DK readers too. Has anybody tried DK readers?

Serenade,
I am currently using a few 30days trial software such as Scrapbook Max, FxFoto etc. Because it's trial, there's limitations to what you can do. I can't print out my work from one of the trial software, forcing you to buy instead. I was so angry coz I did it for Hannah's Show & Tell.

Well, I have decided on Photoshop, very powerful software, and recommended by most people. Still learning it.

I'll email you my 'not so well done' work. Have trouble downsizing it.

sarah
what did hannah do for show and tell?
i want to look at your work too ;)

serenade
mel is not into readers anymore, she is BIG fan of berenstain bears, i like the stories too but find the american style of writing disturbing, she picked up the word 'stupid' from the books.

Moshi,
Try using cutters for the potatoes.

Digital scrapbooking is just using the computer to collage photos, journals. No need to write so much. There's no link to provide. You can download trial software and play around. I'll email you my 'not so well done' work so you have a better picture. Heehee...it's better than blog, I'm not one who writes well, and alot.

Hannah's sch has such 'lobang' too but I did not order any as it's her last month in sch. Think Apricot is interested, you may want to check with her. She may want to c/o you.

Serenade,
You got mail.

Moshi,
You got mail too.

Show & tell of her cousins, and her trip to Disneyland. I did a little pic.

anyone using the chinese I Can Read, i have up to level 4 and they are almost like white elephants now. she is not keen on them, how do u do it? disciplined? i ask her every other day is she wanna chinese bks, she will say nope and goes on to pick an eng one. How???

sarah
are u referring to metal cutters? don't have them, would daiso stock them? u know, moi cant bake so am thinking of getting moulds to make jellies instead. shall we go cutters shopping?

moshi,
yes, metal cutters, plastic ones should work too. i know ntuc has these but common la, unlike pris' cutters.

yes, yes, daiso shopping.

Hi Sarah!
Hanah is so seductive in that costume! Mine, she's sweet! Was she saluting in one of the photos? And she sings on stage? A very confident girl! Don't know if Brandon will have the guts to go onstage :p Hey, you shld put up a blog and share more on your little girl.

Hi moshimoshi,
I share your thoughts on the Berenstain bears. Bought a bk from Sg previously but wasn't too comfortable with the writing style.

I'm thinking of the Magic Tree House, Junie B Jones. Just ordered some copies of The Little House. Hopefully Brandon will like them.

Hi mommies,

Try the book Amelia Bedelia. Not only it's interesting and funny, it also brings to attention that some words have dual meanings. e.g draw the curtains, dress the chicken up etc. Bound to have some fun in reading them.

Wow wow wow !!! We are back on children books.
How I envy your kids...they can read ! Aston is still far behind..how do I cultivate the reading program on him ? But he surprised me last week when he writes chinese 1 - 10.

I look at Pris's shepherd pie and I am so hungry now...
Pris or Sarah, can you PM me the receipe ? Hope it's not difficult to make.

Hi Seranade,
Abt donuts, it turns out DH wrote this in his blog...take a look...

Have you tried the donuts from Donut Factory before? I tried it last weekend and it is GOOD! But I'll probably won't get to taste it again soon because I'm not going to queue another TWO HOURS just to get some donuts!

That shop is operating so inefficiently! I was in a queue of not more than 20 people. So they actually served only 20 customers in 2 hours! Cannot imagine, right? Take note: the customers are not ordering flavours that have to wait till it's baked. They are ordering it off the shelf. How slow will it be packing some donuts in a box, right?

Wrong! They showed me how to do it on this fine Sat afternoon. They have 2-3 staff cramped at the front counter. It'll be like, you block me and I block you when it comes to picking donuts that customers ordered. Can't they split the display trays into 2 halves? One staff will man each half. Then they don't have to 'fight' for the donuts.

Then there's packing. The staff will unfold the boxes each time a customer is ordering. Somemore one of their hands will be gloved (for picking donut. hygiene mah). That means only one free hand left to unfold the boxes. Challenging, right? Can they prepare the boxes before they start the day?

Then there's payment. Remember the one-handed staff? She'll collect payment, punch them into cash register and put the money in respective trays in register, all using one hand. So you better don't give them coins, ok? It's tough handling both coins and notes in one hand. Can't they assign one person to collect payment?

Well, so much for complaining. But I must agree their donuts are really delicious. Well, it will be some time later before I get to taste it again..probably after they start branching out...

Hi all

Friends only told me Daiso have some moulds as for the metal cutters or other cookie cutter besides the Disney Characters one, you can get from the hardware shops that sell pots, utensils etc. I think they are some jelly moulds also in those hardware shops, when I was in Singapore, hardly has time to go and source around.

Apricot, the sheperd's pie recipe I have just added to my blog. It will take some time for me to add friends into my blog as I am organising some work at home since I am doing a blog totally for Kai, update my blog, record my recipes and also backupdate all my photos and data on pc into CDs. And at the same time trying to create DVD compiling Kai's photos in a slide shows for him so that he will have lots of memories of his childhood.

Well, will probably not be dropping by for a while since we have guests again and also we are organising a reunion dinners with friends and I am going to learn how to cook more korean cuisine cum homeschooling haahaa.

Hope all of you have fun, enjoy your children as much as you can as they grow up very fast. I have learnt alot from all of you too!

I hope that if time permit, I will drop by and add the photos for baked salmon mixed vegetables pasta with cheese and also the pizza that Kai and I have made.

hi hi everyone

u gals write too much for me to read ... but write on, I'll try to cathc up. So many books, so little time ....

moshi, ya, good to get from scholastic via the school as there's no min order, no delivery charges and it's cheaper than what's gotten outside.

i've got the pooh cutter like wat pris has ... there was a major BP in Motherhood sometime ago... can check out if still doing.... this was before the revamp of the spree section.

for scrapbooking, I wanted to do digital and got swayed by a close neighbour... she just tempt me with her superly nice paper layouts. so i dropped the digital idea and did paper. for those who r keen, go into M4M, the scrapbook gang there is very very good.

Sarah, email me your masterpiece can? I tried to take photos of my LOs and post in my blog but too many things to do that that has not been my priority.

I just did an photoframe for hubby yesterday ... and pineapple tarts. did a dough 2 days ago but wrongly read 25ml of water as 250ml of water ... oh well, this is the prob the first and only time I'm doing it ...

and moshi, on aches, have you considered looking for "die-da" shifu to do tuina? I'm aching at my right shoulder as well as on my right thumb for quite a long while but have not got down to doing it.

.ky.

hi apricot
scholastic books, do u have any in mind?
i will check if they appear on the book list.

i have enough fiction bks so will be getting an info bk on occupations, one on math concepts and one on silly dilly poems which can be sung to the tune of childhood fave.
when's the world bk fair and where?

yep, i saw what aston wrote at sarah's place, totally cool, mel is far from there. are u still using the BP chinese readers, they are white elephants now, sigh... she decided she doesn;t like some black cats on one of the books and had boycotted all the books since.
hey lawrence blogs, interesting, u can make him write when u are tired.

ky
yes, thought abt going for tuina but i have to go regularly to see improvement. too ill disciplined when it comes to this sort of things. lemme knw if u find a miracle plaster which doesn;t sting my skin after many many applications. hey, u are so sweet to make a photoframe for hub, he must be touched, got tears?

serenade
yep, language wise, b bears not too good, but we have abt 20 of them cos she is addicted to them. just got to check her when she starts spouting 'nonsense'. the themes are varied and comprehensive though.
i got each book at only $3.90 so i thought it;s a cheap way to keep her happy heehee

what are ur kids doing for CNY sch celebrations?
k's mom has an important cultural sharing session, good luck , trust u to do a lively story and the best craft ever!

mel will have a song n dance session in the sanctuary followed by a party in class.
parents are invited, i can;t wait to take pix of her classroom and her friends in chinese costumes, my silly gal will be going in a qipao daddy got from china, heehee

actually we can save money by doing book exchanges, we should let each other know what books we need, meet once a month to exchange n return? not sure of feasilbilty though, anyone did this with other mommies before?

Moshi,
Re book exchange. Serenade suggested setting a bookclub for mommies & kids sometime ago. Was supposed to discuss it during our last meeting but slipped off our mind.

Perhaps we can start by compiling our own booklist and email each other? From there, we know who has what and so forth. What do you think?

Hannah's sch has celebration tomorrow too. They are required to wear ethnic costume. She's going to wear this Indian 'baju', didn't buy any Chinese traditional clothing. Too bad, parents not invited.

Hey Ky,
Keith's chinese wear very unique. Can ask where your MIL bought it? Makes a good gift.

Hi mommies,

Can't figure what happened. I have just changed my blog's name. Perhaps that's why. Anyway, I have resent the invitation. Please accept and sign in again
happy.gif
Sorry for the trouble!

Hi Apricot,

Aston is excellent! Brandon can only recognise a few chinese characters from the I CAN READ chinese series. I guess our kids are opposite of each other in terms of language. Aston can probably read chinese far better than Brandon. :p

Gosh, and you waited for the Donuts? They must be really delicious! Well, kudos to you and your family...

Hi moshimoshi,
How did you hurt your shoulder?

Brandon is not into chinese too. But fortunately, whenever Cheryl picks up the books, he will want to join in. We are still at Level 1 only :p

Hi Mommies!

Your kids are far more advanced than Bryan in reading. I'm wondering when he'll start noticing words... he's still more into the pictures sort.

But he's really picking up some phonics. During our walks these few days - he's been sick so we kept him at home - he's been volunteering to learn all the things we see. He'd go, s-s-s-s smoke! He actually saw people smoking. I wonder how he knew about that... k-k-k-crane... etc and by the time we reached home, he'd go, let's learn something at home now.

only thing that I'm trying to get him to focus on words now is get plain words. so with the doodle board now, i write names of his classmates... and he only recognises the beginning letter... so it doesn't help much with you have people like jake and jessica, alicia and ariana in class... haha! But I like it alot when he pronounces his friend's name Sahith, he actually pays attention to the th sound.

hey moshi2!

nope, can't get hcar kway teow here, sigh too bad... only in my own kitchen with whatever things we can assemble here from the Asian grocers. btw, this was my craving when i got pregnant with kristin... so that's why i still can't lose the extra pounds i put on since having her... so not a very healthy thing to do very often... but at least it's not with lard when you do it yourself at home.

sigh... don't think we'll gonna have the CNY sharing tomorrow. think we've got to postpone it. Bryan's got pretty contagious viral infection and i don't think he'll be going to school until next week.

he's having diarrhea now that the vomitting has stopped. yesterday he told me things that just made me sigh a great deal...
Mom, my poo poo really hurts me. it's hot. - i think he was trying to tell me it burns.
Mom, who did this to me? Why am I sick? Now I'm very sad. I miss the school's party! I want to play with my friends.

I remember last year when he had an infection like this in spring, he didn't even know what was happening to him coz he didnt even know what vomitting and diarrhea was until then. And he was too young still to express his discomfort. He was just saying it hurt that's all. But this year, he's been complaining alot more.

so the CNY thing... gotta wait till next week... perhaps!

Hi Moshimoshi,
World Book Fair is held at
Venue : Suntec Spore convention & Exhibition centre Level 4 , Hall 401-404
Date : 25May to 3Jun from 11am to 10pm

Hi Serenade,
Aston is more into pictures..he spelt the words but look at pics to tell me what it is. If I take away the pics, he is lost. So I find that he relies on pics alot and this leads me to think could it be those times I flash pics to him when he was around 2yo plus. Now, I have decided to write and read out the letter to teach him the words. Flash cards do not work on him anymore.

hey serenade!

the weather here is as unpredictable as spring showers... even in February... it can be as warm as 15 deg on one day with the sun out and then rainy as about 8-10deg with rain all day. I think everything is springing forward this year, just like the big viral spring infection that got last year end of March... it's been moved forward 6 weeks!

I think Bryan's lost at least 2 kgs now... with very little food in and a lot of "outputs"! hubby and i are exhausted too, hope we don't catch it from him.

oyes... i upgraded to blogger2. but haven't quite updated anything yet... so will send out invitations when there are more updates done... wait for the surprise...

Hi Kristin's mom,
Hope Bryan get well soon.

Hi Sarah,
I supported the book club !!! I will compile my list and send out to you. So you be the librarian , ok ?

Ladies, as I will be MIA for a while and those of you have requested for my blog address, please pm your email so that I can send you my invitations when I update my blog this few days.

K's Mum. hope Bryan is better now. Kai went through that last year to and he was able to explain to the doc where hurts and how many time he vomitted and had diarrhoea. I gave him Lacteol Fort which helps and lots of fluid - ice pop, jellos and he was also forcing food in himself since he was too eager to get well to go out and have fun and continue homeschooling.

Apricot, can I have your blog too?

Just to share what we had for lunch and dinner yesterday

Lunch - Baked creamy salmon, mixed vegetables pasta with cheddar cheese

Hi Apricot!

Had a quick tour at your blog... wow, Aston's got star quality man!!! Can't get over his cheeky grin! You must make sure he doesn't become a heartbreaker in the future
happy.gif

Hi Sarah!

So when will you be back in Sg?
We haven't got confirmed dates to return to Sg yet, husband's mid year review dates still pending... worrying coz we got to book tickets and jul is one hot summer month when all Europeans wanna get out of the continent. July is all we know now. Will you be back by then? Sorry, din manage to meet up with you in Dec/Jan.

hi k's mom.

Hope Bryan will get well soon too. maybe u can consider doing some CNY realated activities at home ... it does work to liven up the spirit.

Sarah, will ask MIL when I next visit her but she got it 4 yrs ago.

Apricot, what's your blog address? pm me can?

moshi2, I didn't even go and look for plaster ... just use yoko yoko a couple of times and when it's better, I stop and then the pain will come back. I think better go and do something abt it in case it might worsen. Tears? hm, no. He was simply too busy this week with work. but he brought it to "show-off" at work.

.ky.

mel had a good time today though she didn;t quite understand what the chinese teacher emcee was talking abt. they had some simple games but the nursery kids look kind of lost, they rather look at their friends than what's happening on stage. her classmate celebrated her bday and they ahd the cake, goodie bags n all. every child brought food to share, fried rice, fishballs, sausages, all sorts, just too much for those lil ones to finish.
show u guys the pix when they are ready.

hi k's mom
sorry to hear abt bryan, is he better 2day? went to the doc, this time, can;t just prescribe rest and fresh air. rem to go easy on milk.

hope u get to do the CNY thing next week.

hi serenade
hurt my shoulders many many yrs back, cos of overmarking, yep, i was marking too many books and sitting with a bad posture. i get this ache every 2 weeks, it's like PMS to me , i get real cranky. i can't carry heavy bags or mel.

hi apricot
